The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kaz had changed while Syn had gone for the equipment to draw blood from Iris and Nail. He was much uglier in this new form. She didn't much care for the extra arms and maw. She laughed at Kaz as he gave her a general science lecture.
"Thank you for that oh so boring demonstration. Maybe you should go apply at the local university instead of being here." Syn glanced at the two still sleeping mutants for a moment before she looked to kaz as he made his comment to her.
She easily dismissed his warning. "I'll question your actions if I want to Kaz. You forget one thing. You're just a front line grunt in this whole grand scheme and when Dorian isn't here I'm in charge." While she spoke she had been releasing her pheromones to make Kaz more docile and to increase her position as the Alpha mutant.

Kaz let out a guttural, grating chuckle at Syn's comment. "Perhaps you should go back to school. you might learn some things." Kaz held a smile on his face as Syn made her small speech, saying she held the power. Kaz laughed out loud at her. "Two things my 'Dear Syn', One: I never remember swearing loyalty or fieldty to anyone besides myself. I help and work with you because it's mutually beneficial to myself and the Order." If Kaz had been in his original form Syn's pheromones would have easily overpowered him, but not now. In his new form more than just physical changes happened, his mind was more feral, an under layer of rage and blood lust was constant, giving his a sort of shield to her manipulations. Besides, he knew she would try this, it seemed to be her only other skill besides mentally torturing people.
Kaz angled his head slightly, slumping a bit, as if he was succumbing to Syn's will. Both of his large hands shot out, one grabbing her arms and torso holding them together, the other holding her legs in place, as he pushed her against the wall. Looming in close, "Second: To be in charge, you have to have power. Manipulations won't always work." He leaned his head in close to hers, opened his large maw and stuck out his tongue as if he was going to lick her face. Instead he smiled at her, "I gave you one warning already. This is your second. You don't get a third." He snapped his jaw instinctively, a hair's breath from her face, he truly at that moment felt like biting her head off. Kaz let go of her and stepped back a few feet.
"Even front line 'grunts' can be just as powerful and influential as those 'higher up'." Kaz's smaller hands made the "Quote un-quote" gesture. "It works much better if you think of us all on the same level. Otherwise you overestimate yourself, and underestimate them." Kaz looked absently over his shoulder at Nail. "Not him though. He's a pathetic wretch, the lowest level of mutant. He just has an interesting power." Kaz snickered as he looked back at Syn.
Again the girl laughed aloud. "Oh my dear Kaz. It's never boring when you're around." Syn brushed off her arms as if Kaz had gotten them dirty. "I already told you that you don't scare me. Not even in your new form. In fact you look like you should be in some Japanese anime."
Syn moved away from the wall and looked into the cells. She wondered when Iris and Nail would wake up. She wanted nail to hear Kaz talk about him. Mostly it was his reaction she was hoping to see.
"I'm tired of waiting." Syn headed to one of the break rooms and grabbed an empty coffee pot. She filled it with water and walked back to the holding cells. She opened Iris' cell and splashed some of the water on her then closed the cell again. The same was done to Nail.
(edited to make Nail sound like less of a jerk...) While Unconcious, Nail was still burdened. His body still ached, even while he was asleep, and he could hear Kaz's Voice, distant and condecending, haunting his mind. Then, in his dream, he could no langer breath, and he felt a chill rush through his body.
It was at this time Nail woke up, coughing up the water that Syn dumped on him.
"Wake up!"
Nail tried to jump to his feet, but his body was still too pain ridden for any fast movement. He pulled himself to his feet just as Syn left his cell and the door slamed shut again. He hobled over to the front of the cell, his eyes locked on the ground, as if concentrating on just moving.
Leaning against the front of the cell, Nail looked up weirily. "Well... that was an obvious failure. Still, I think we did pretty good as escapees considering how rediculously well defended this place is."
Nail smiled a weak smile, obviously trying to make the best of ahorribly despairing situation, and failing miserably.

Once air began to circulate again, Iris' body reset itself fairly quickly. Four minutes after passing out, it was ready for action again, though the opal remained dormant. That gem would be out of commision for another few minutes.
Her mind, on the other hand, didn't recover quite as quickly.
In the brief minutes she was unconscious, her nightmares raged away, with It clawing and screaming at her again, and a pair of cold silver eyes watching her every move. Unknown to Iris, her mind was struggling to remember her past, bringing back bits and pieces at a time. The nightmare was her subconscious' way of protecting her from it.
She felt something tickle her arm. She wanted to scratch at it, but she wasn't completely with the world yet. Slowly her mind began to unfuzz. She could hear voices in the background.
"Front line... overestimate yourself... interesting power... boring..." Everything ran together, making no sense.
Then came a really rude awakening.
"Wake up!" The sudden feel of cold and wet on her face and chest was like a shot in the dark. She snapped awake, sputtering in confusion. Her chest was heaving as she fought to catch her breath, a leftover reaction from nearly suffocating. She saw Syn and Kaz... the stranger version... out in the hallway, and Nail across the way.
But something was different and wrong. She couldn't remember what had just happened. The last thing she remembered was watching Kaz beat Nail. After that, her memory was blank. She watched them with wide, confused eyes. Even while Nail was speaking, she was struggling to figure out what was going on, and what he was talking about. On top of everything else, her head and neck were on fire, and her ears were ringing.
Syn looked at both Nail and Iris. Nail was obviously in pain and Iris appeared to be somewhat confused. That very point roused Syn's curiousity. "What's wrong Iris? You seem to be searching for memories that aren't there. Do you not remember what just happened to you?"
The girl turned to Nail as she watched him trying to move. Kaz really did a number on him. "Yes, that was a brave attempt but I'm affraaid the two of you aren't going anywhere until we're ready to let you go."
"You aren't going anywhere until we're ready to let you go."
That could be years. Nail hated not knowing what was going on, and it showed in his features. He slid down the wall slowly, cringing alittle still with pain. sitting there against the wall, he shook his head, as if trying to clear all the uncertainty and helplessness from it.
It was now that he noticed Iris's expression. She was confused and more afriad than she origonally was. Syn's words where what clued him in on the situation. Could she not remember what just happened? Did she remember how she had just gained all the power, and easily destroyed her cell? She'd definately lost that stealy look in her, ever color changing eyes. That cold calculating look was long gone.
Nail definetly wasn't stupid. He realised that the Iris he had seen earlier was another form of her mutation. He also realised that Syn was trying to push Iris into a state of fear, and that he had to keep her from freaking out.
"Hey Iris, don't worry, you didn't miss much. Just me getting my ass beat."

Iris closed her eyes, trying to block Syn out, concentrating instead on the ringing in her ears. Oddly enough, it helped her regain her balance a bit. Her breathing slowed, eventually returning to normal as her body realized it wasn't suffocating.
Unfortunately her mind still remained blank. <"Escapees??"> What was Nail talking about? <"A brave attempt? Attempt at what?? God, my head hurts....">
She opened one eye, and her gaze landed on Syn. She grimaced. <"I hate that woman,"> she thought, not caring at that point if she was a telepath.
Iris took a deep breath and opened both eyes. She rubbed the back of her neck.
"Hey Iris, don't worry, you didn't miss much. Just me getting my ass beat."
She glanced at Nail, and frowned slightly. "I remember that part..." Her voice trailed off, still completely confused.
"Soo...you don't remember what happened just a few minutes ago then?" Maybe she doesn't have total control over that specific power thought Syn. "Iris, I'm going to tell you what happened mostly because I hope you are able to develope the power you just exherted. You literally destroyed your cell." Syn paused to watch Iris' reaction. She was hoping she might remember something. "You left your cell and you freed Nail. The two of you had a chance to escape but I'm affraid we can't allow that so you wer stopped."
Syn looked to Kaz to see what he had to say or what he was doing.

Kaz regarded Nail with a curious look, but ultimately his gaze went back to Iris. He didn't interfere with Syn's words. "Please just leave her alone alright! We've been through enough already." Kaz's eye twitched and he punched Nail's cell, not hard, but enough to make him jump. "You'll go through more, if we decide so. Now shut up."
Kaz looked directly at Iris as he spoke. "Iris, in the park where we first met, I offered a challenge. You stepped up and gave me a hell of a time. Once again you had a challenge ahead of you. An obstacle in your way. You literally blew it away. You have more power than you know. I highly doubt you'd of reached into the power you used if we hadn't pushed you as far as we have."
Kaz looked at Syn, "We've gotten the data we needed. We don't need to push them any more." Looking at Iris. "You don't have to be in there anymore Iris. You can join us." He went quiet, one eye on Syn, one eye on Iris, to see their reactions.
Syn listened to Nail's plee. Unfortunately for him Syn would do what she wanted no matter what. Then Kaz spoke up and literaly told Nal what she had just been thinking. She couldn't help but smile as Kaz's words filled the air.
She looked to Iris once again since she was the main topic at the moment. Syn let Kaz speak to Iris about how much potential she has. When he mentioned letting her join Syn noticed Kaz look at her as well as Iris. A slightly raised eye brow was the intial response from the girl. "Yes Iris. Would you like to join us and we can work on developing your powers more? Maybe you'd rather run back to the Mansion and tell them everything you've seen and experienced here instead."

Kaz wasn't sure if Syn was really going with what he said, or just patronizing Iris and himself. He looked at Syn only for her reaction and hoping she'd really say what she thought, and not beat around the bush. Shrugging mentally to himself, <She's too complicated to try and figure out.> Chuckling mentally, <At least we're on the same page about him.> Referring to Nail, when Syn smiled at Kaz's words.
"You could say yes and cooperate for a bit then run off. It's a possibility." Kaz shrugged with all four arms, which looked a bit odd. "Though think about this: Would you have reached into yourself and pulled out the power to break out of your cell at the mansion?" He let his words sink in for a moment. "Your burst of power came from desperation, fear, and anger. NOTHING there, NOBODY there, could push you as hard as you've been pushed here. They're all too worried about your safety and being nice to you."
Kaz leaned back a bit fully resting on his legs, the position was extremely comfortable, despite looking very awkward. "Though it wouldn't matter right now if she ran off to the mansion. They're already planning on attacking here. When I walked in, I had just come from there. I've also got a bit of info about a couple of members of the Xmen. It seems the Head Mistress will personally be heading the assault.
((OOC: I know the Xmen meeting was set up after I entered the room, but I did this because we don't have a definant time for anything, and it just works.))
By now, Nail could barely stand the two even talking. Them trying to mess with Iris made his blood boil. And what made him even more agrivated was the fact that there was nothing he could do. He stumbed to the back corner of his cell, his fist clenched.
Crystal once again started to form along his body, and seemed to coat his body. The crystal took shape with nasty looking spikes, and the ones that formed along his knuchles of his fist looked even nastier. He simply stared into the corner, his fom shaking visably.

Iris was only listening with half an ear. The rest of her attention was focus inside, trying her best to remember what had happened in those brief minutes.
”I hope you are able to develop the power you just exerted. You literally destroyed your cell."
A image flashed in front of her eyes from her nightmares; the crumbled mountain, and the opal in her hand. Her hand reflexively reached for the center of her back, and the gem imbedded there. Against her better judgement, she closed her eyes and tried to activate it. It remained dull. She gulped and opened her eyes.
When Kaz hit Nail’s cell, she visibly started, and her attention refocused on the pair in the hallway.
For a brief moment anger flooded through her, and her eyes narrowed for a split second.
"We've gotten the data we needed. We don't need to push them any more."
She became aware of the guaze on her arm, and when Kaz glanced back at her, his eyes were silver, again like the ones in her nightmares. The anger was replaced by fear. She shook her head and took a deep breath, and when she looked back his eyes were red again.
<“What is happening to me??”> She’d never had this much trouble keeping her emotions in check, not in her whole life....at least, the part she remembered.....
"You don't have to be in there anymore Iris. You can join us."
"Yes Iris. Would you like to join us and we can work on developing your powers more?”
Iris glanced back and forth as both Kaz and Syn began trying to convince her to ‘join them’. The more they tried, the more the anger returned. She wasn’t sure anymore who were the ‘bad guys’ or the ‘good guys’, but she did know she and Nail were being used. To say that didn’t set well with her would be an understatement.
”Would you have reached into yourself and pulled out the power to break out of your cell at the mansion? Your burst of power came from desperation, fear, and anger. NOTHING there, NOBODY there, could push you as hard as you've been pushed here. They're all too worried about your safety and being nice to you."
”And that’s a bad thing??” she snapped at him. ”You think showing a bit of compassion for someone is a weakness?? So far all I’ve learned from you two is how to be a better bully! I could’ve learned that from any thug on the street! And if I wanted to half kill myself I sure wouldn't need you're help! I could've just stepped in front of a subway train for that kind of help! If anything you two have made me understand why humans hate us so much, and I don’t blame them! I don’t want anything to do with any of you or your group!”
She backed away from the front of her cell, as far away as she could get, this time not out of fear, but disgust. She struggled to control herself, just in case the opal became active again. She still wasn’t ready to completely let it loose, no matter how much she hated her and Nail being here, or how much she was beginning to hate both Syn and Kaz.
She watched Nail's fists form spikes, and at the moment would have bet money that he was feeling the same fury she was.
