The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Had she been able to watch herself, in another setting Iris may have laughed at her own reaction. Her jaw may has well have been on the floor, and her eyes looked ready to pop out of their sockets. Her heart was pounding so hard she swore Nail could have heard. And it only increased when Kaz shifted back to..... well, sort of..... normal.
When he walked out and shut the cell again, it was like someone had let the air out of a tire. She leaned up against the wall, but her legs refused to hold her. She slid down the wall in slow motion, until she was sitting on the floor. She stared at them through the clear wall.
"What are you people?!" The question was barely above a whisper.
"And no one lives forever..." Nail added to Kaz's last statement.
He stood, just as he had been, still in the same place, unmoved by fear or doubt, and bolstered by anger and hatred.
"What are you people"
"Other than souless monstrosities and sadists..."
He wanted to piss these people off. He wasn't afraid to die or be injured by one of them. He was afriad however that he might not be able to make them suffer before he left this earth. He wanted them to give him the chance to do that.

Kaz easily caught Nail's comment. Slowly Kaz looked his way. Snapping his hand up, he entered the code to open Nail's cell, then his hand was back at his side, his arm didn't seem to have moved at all. Before the cell door was even a quarter open, Kaz slipped inside. One instant he was outside, the next he was behind Nail. Kaz grabbed Nail's hair roughly and turned him about to face him.
"You won't live to see another decade pass with your attitude." Kaz's free arm rose fast as he slapped Nail across his right cheek, then the left one with a back hand slap, which made the man spin. The speed of Kaz's movements was insane. There wasn't much power behind the hits, but the pure speed made up for that. "We are the ones who will change the world. When we are done, Mutants will no longer hide in fear. We'll walk freely in the streets." Kaz grabbed Nail's crystal encrusted chest and threw him into the wall. "Whether you want to be or not, you're involved in this. You were involved the moment you were born into this world. Even among Mutant there is an order." Kaz moved close to Nail, and his hands became blurs as he began to flick Nail all over his upper body, arms and face.
One small pain is easy to ignore, many multiple small pains is just as bad as one big pain, if not worse. Nail's body began to crust over with crystals, jutting out spikes where Kaz had just hit. This would be troublesome for someone without Kaz's speed and reactions. With each spike, Kaz moved his arms and body just enough to not be hit, while hitting a new, exposed area of skin. "You are among the lowest of our race. You can't even control you power! Don't speak until you have a clue. You don't understand the world around you." Kaz shook his head as his hands returned to his side. Turning his back to Nail. "Don't try to assume you know any of us."
Kaz spun around, his fist aimed for the middle of Nail's gut. Instead of a normal punch, Kaz's fist began to vibrate. When it connected with Nail's crystal armor, there wasn't much force but the vibrations were strong and violent, spreading through the armor, and into Nail's body. Kaz turned around once again and left the cell, closing the door as he did.

"Other than souless monstrosities and sadists..."
"Nail...." Iris started, alarm in her voice. The last thing they needed to do was push these people. But the warning was too little too late, and Kaz went into his cell. She looked at Syn.
"Stop him!" She knew it wouldn't do any good; the girl seemed to be enjoying this. Iris moved to the front of the cell and placed her hands on the glass. She was already stressed to the limit, and overly tired on top of things, yet her emotions went through another rollercoster ride as she watched the beating.
It was too much.
Her back suddenly began to burn, this time right near the center. Her heart pounded.
<"No! Not now! Not NOW!!">
Aloud she cried, "Leave him alone!" As if it would do any good. It had already started, and she couldn't stop it.
Nail watched the man move towards the cell, and watched the door open. This was his chance, his chance to make this guy suffer. he moved towards the door, readying himself for a fight, but befor the door was completely open, the man was already behind him, tugging on his messy, unclean hair.
"You won't live to see another decade pass with your attitude."
Before he even knew what was going on, he was turned around to face kaz, and he felt the hot sting of being slapped.. A small film of diamond seeped out of his red cheeks, and his teeth gritted.
"We are the ones who will change the world. When we are done, Mutants will no longer hide in fear. We'll walk freely in the streets."
"Nnnrrraah!"
He tryed to strike the man, but before he could even try, he was slammed into the far wall, the wind knocked out of him instantly. Befor he could even recover, the man was looming over him.
"Whether you want to be or not, you're involved in this. You were involved the moment you were born into this world. Even among Mutant there is an order."
"...shut.." he coughed," shut up!"
With that, a small pain hit hit side, and began jumping along his flesh form one place to the next. His mutation followed it, slowely trying to protect his body from the threat, but it was usless. He was left failing in pain, his spikes jutting out in random direction harmlessly. He could not see, because his eyes were clenched shut through the blinding, persistant pain.
"You are among the lowest of our race. You can't even control you power! Don't speak until you have a clue. You don't understand the world around you."
The pain stopped, and Nail was left of the floor like a ragdoll, gasping for air, sputtering and coughing.
"Don't try to assume you know any of us."
Just as he began to recover, a force hit his stomache, and he folt his insides burn. A horrible vibration spread thoughout his body, setting his entire chest on fire. The very bones in his legs and arms seem to sting, and he could no longer feel his his hands or feet.
He lied there, unable to breath. He heard the door close, and he forced his eyes open through the blaring pain. He opened his mouth, but words couldn't come. He wanted to say so much to the guy, like if he felt so strongly, why didn't he meet with jack. Things that required more breath than he had. All he could muster to say was a short string of incoheirent cusses.
Syn watched Kaz enter Nail's cell and commence to beating the tar out of Nail as it were. The sight was rather delightful. Apparently Iris had noticed this even though she pleaded for Syn to make Kaz stop. Naturally Syn didn't comply with the girl's cry. However she did look back to Iris a few times during Nail's beating just to watch her reactions.
That's when she noticed a change in Iris. She became much more out spoken as well as more aggressive. This new side of Iris also made Syn smile. Perhaps this was something related to the girl's mutation.
"Now this is a much more likeable Iris. Where have you been hidding?"

(OOC: Sorry for the long post; was trying to be descriptive.)
Iris locked eyes with Syn. She could feel part of her mutation starting to take over, the part she had tried to keep hidden all of her life. In reality the power itself wasn’t all that dangerous; it was the personality change that came with it.
"Now this is a much more likeable Iris. Where have you been hiding?"
Iris simply shook her head, and backed away from the cell door. As she moved, her hair and eyes changed. The blonde and grey altered to a strange color; irrediscent, as if all colors of the rainbow were there, changing under the light with every movement.
As her features altered, something else happened. A weird sound began to be heard, low at first, then gradually growing louder. It sounded like a windstorm at first, punctuated by high squeals and low booms every now and then, along with ‘nails-on-a-chalkboard’ type screeches. But there was no wind of any sort, just the sounds.
Something else was also different. Iris’s face had gone completely flat, all expression gone. There was nothing there, no fear, no hate, no exhaustion; no emotion whatsoever. Just....blank. She stood in the center of the cell like a statue, staring at Syn. If she hadn’t blinked, you would have thought she was a statue.
She shifted her gaze. Kaz had left the cell, and Nail was on the floor, obviously hurt. Iris looked back at Syn, and saw she was simply standing there watching. Her gaze shifted again to Kaz, and she blinked. She held out her hands, palms out. An opal glittered with multi-colored fire in the palm of her right hand. She walked forward, as if pushing at the wall. The sound ‘storm’ increased in volume and pitch, almost becoming deafening. Even though her hands were not touching the cell wall, spiderwebs of cracks began appearing all along the front. The wall bulged ever so slightly as it tried to repair itself, but there was no single stress point for it to focus on. The entire wall cracked, then suddenly shattered outward.
Electricity crackled and danced around the edges as the cell’s programming struggled to both close the hole and prevent its occupant from escaping. But the current had no effect, since she wasn't anywhere near the wall. Iris pushed again, splintering the edges further, and making a larger hole. She ducked and stepped out into the hallway. A shock of the electricity managed to break through, sending a shock up her arm, numbing it. She looked down, as if considering what had happened. Her brain registered the pain, but as it had remained below her threshold (how much pain you can take before passing out) it decided to ignore it. She opened and closed her fist, to get feeling back into her arm.
She paused briefly to stare blankly at their captors again. Then she turned toward Nail’s cell.
Syn watched as Iris went under some sort of transformation. Though there wasn't much of a physical change save for her hair and eyes changing color. There seemed to be some strange sounds as well. She didn't know where they were coming from but it was almost like sound effects added into a movie to make it more dramatic.
Then she watched as Iris somehow managed to destroy one of the walls of her cell. The computer tried to keep the girl contained and even tried shocking her but the attempt failed. Iris made herself a hole large enough to step out of her cell. Syn was actually quite shocked as well as impressed with the display. She didn't do or say anything at the moment as she wanted to see what else Iris might do. Though she was keeping her defenses ready.
(OOC: Sorry needed to vent some creative juices I geuss... Long post about absolutely nothing...)
Absorbed in his own world of pain and anger, it took Nail a minute to realise what was going on. The sound that Iris was making caused him to pause from his ramblings of anger. Slowely, Nail rolled himself over to look out the front of the cell, To his surprise, Iris's Hair was dancing with multiple colors, and her eyes seemed to shift from one color to the next.
Not only that, but a large chunk of her cell had been blown out, and she was now standing in the hallway by Syn. The look on her face was enough to make Nail forget about how much his body ached. His Jaw dropped in just about the same way Iris herself had done mear minutes ago. It was now that he realised that they might actually have a chance of escaping this place, but that realising was partially ecplise by fear of Iris' new, and most definetly more scary side.

It didn't seem that either Syn or Kaz were going to do anything but watch, so Iris turned her attention to Nail's cell. Though her face was expressionless, you could almost see her mind working.
Simply creating a hole, as she'd just done, would take too long, and possibly result in another shock. Also once she broke in, she would have to break out again. That would be a waste of both time and energy. Instead she turned to the electronic lock.
She tilted her head, the reached out, palm out again. The noises again rose in volume, but the pitch was lower this time. Her hand was several inches away when the panel began to vibrate and spark. Abruptly it exploded, and she pulled away quickly. A piece of hot plastic landed on her hand. Her body reacted quickly, and she shook it off. Again, since the pain was not more than she could handle, her brain ignored it.
The door slid open on its own. She walked in and knelt by Nail's side, her expression still unchanged.
Her mind took in his height, and likely weight, and decided he was too heavy to carry. Instead she helped him get to his feet, and draped one arm around her shoulders to support him. Silently, she helped him walk out into the corridor.

Kaz stepped back to a different cell as Iris moved across the hall. He watched her destroy the keypad on the wall. What she didn't notice it seemed was Kaz hitting the pad next to him, unlocking Nail's cell. Kaz smirked as Iris stepped into the cell. Faster than before he moved to Syn, grabbed her around the waist, and moved himself and her into what was previously Iara's cell. When they were in, Kaz set his palm on the cell door, which had just come down. After a moment, a panel showed up. Kaz began pressing buttons, like he would on a normal keypad. Iris and Nail were already in the hallway when Kaz finished.
Every cell door and possible exit was covered with a 10 inch thick sheet of glass, similar to the normal cell doors. This included Iris' broken cell (which hadn't repaired itself yet), and Nails (which was still open except for the new wall).
When Iris and Nail were fully trapped in the hallway, Kaz pressed a few more keys. The hall began to fill with some sort of gas. Kaz didn't know what it was, he just knew what would happen when it was done. Kaz looked towards both captives and waved as he snapped his fingers. The hall lit up in a blinding flash, fire rolled over the entire hallway. The gas had ignited.
Looking to Syn. "Hold your breath. Don't breath in or out...nothing." With that Kaz pressed a few more keys, both the hallway and the cell he and Syn were in suddenly became a vacuum. <No air, no sound!> Was Kaz's thought as the cell wall opened. Rolling out he came to a stop on all fours. Sprinting towards the two captives, Kaz jumped and twisted his body, and brought his knees up, so that each knee would impact the back of each of their skulls.
Nail was still in pain as he was help up by Iris, but he was too determined to get out. He forced his tattered body to move, and before long they were into the hallway. However, nail did not like how Kaz was handling the situation, he pent himself up into one of the celss, and from what Nail could make out, it seemed like he was typing on a wall or something.
"Iris... this might be bad..."
In an instant the room was coated in the speical see through material. For a second, Nail was not sure what was going on, and only realised that they were just relocated into a bigger cell. Then Nail heard the familiar sound of gas being released into the hallway.
"Yep it's bad."
Thinking the point of this was to sufficate or poison them, Nail tried to pull Iris to the floor, he covered his mouth with his shirt, but it didn't help much. He was alarm as just how quickly the room filled with the gas.
When the gas stopped flowing, their was a tense half second silence. Then, there was a faint click, and flame burst from one end of the hallway, and headed strait for them.
He had little more than half a second, but in the time, Nail forced himself ontop of Iris to keep her as low to the ground as posible. As he did this, Crytsal shot from his back like a fountain, and spread over them in less than a second, forming a small dome in the center of the hallway.
From within the cell, Nail could see red and yellow dancing in the crystal walls, and could also hear the faint sound of the air combusting. When the flashfire ended, the crystal quickly receded back into Nails body. He tried to get himself to his feet, and was also trying to get Iris up.
But as soon as Nail took a breath, be began to choke. His lungs felt like they colapsed, and he struggled to make them inflate again. As he knelt on the floor gasping for something that just wasn't there, he could see Kaz running toward them silently. It finally clicked in Nails mind what they were in. But he was freaking out far to muck to care right now. He tried to make his painstricken, and now sufficating body to move, but he only managed to stumble backwards, gasping silently, desperate to escape. He could only watch was Kaz shot forward towards him with blinding speed. His knee colided with his forehead, and Nail eyes rolled back into his head. All went black and the pain of his body faded away....

(OOC: Sorry if it sounds a bit mechanical, but Iris has basically become a robot at this point)
Iris was unaware of Kaz's actions. Her goal was to get Nail and herself out of this place, and up to that point, neither Kaz nor Syn had seemed to interfere. So her mind had ignored their presence and focused on what it considered an obstacle; the door panel. Once that obstacle was removed, and they were in the hallway, she continued on with accomplishing her goal.
"Iris... this might be bad..."
She looked up and stared at him blankly. She couldn't hear what he said, only sense the vibrations that meant he was talking; when the opal took over, her world had gone silent. Even the 'sound storm' that surrounded her was merely a steady vibration, occasionly varying in speed.
She saw that the walls had changed, and again her brain went through a series of split-second analyzations. The walls were now keeping them locked in the hallway, becoming a new obstacle to her goal. To get out, the walls had to go. She placed on hand on the nearest wall. The 'storm' again began to increase in volume, and she felt the wall start to vibrate. But before it could reach the needed volume, another obstacle presented itself.
Her nose wrinkled slightly as the smell of gas reached her. Gas could equal one of two things; fire or unconsciousness. Neither was acceptable. When Nail pulled her toward the floor, she willingly followed, and copied his actions by covering her mouth.
When the explosion happened, she watched without fear or concern. In fact her expression held the slightest bit of curiosity; she wondered how Nail could create the crystal dome when he was hurt so badly.
A brief thought went through her mind.... Fire eats up oxygen. When the oxygen is gone, so it the fire. She took a small breath before the dome receeded, then her brain sent a shut-off command to her lungs. If she could have put it into words, it would have been, 'Don't breathe for two minutes, or until you pass out; Whichever comes first.'
At the same time a third obstacle presented itself. The vibrations were gone. Her storm was gone. As the crystal dome receeded, she remained on the ground, trying to find a solution to the problem that presented.
She blinked, watching Nail fall victim to the lack of air. It was something she couldn't help. There was a blur of color in the corner of her eye. Kaz. She felt the contact of his knee on the back of her head, as well as the force of hitting the wall with her shoulder. She blinked, registering the pain. It was intense, but still just barely below her threshold. However, another hit like that would send her over the edge.
She stood up, rather stiffly, supporting herself against the glass-covered wall. She stared at Kaz. He had just become the main obstacle to her goal. While her eyes glittered with multi-colored fire, there was no warmth or depth in them, only flat, cold calculations.
She took a step toward him, then another. On the third step, she collapsed, succumbing to the lack of oxygen. The fire slowly faded from her hair and eyes. Near the middle of her back the opal reappeared, as lifeless as the body it was embedded in.
After the air had relilled itself Syn looked at Kaz. "Was all that really necessary? I'm sure we could've stopped them on our own and put them back into their cells." Syn shook her head as she walked over to the unconsious pair. "Seems that Iris is full of surprises. She'll be loads of fun to play with." The girl paused as she thought for a moment. Then her eyes lit up like the fires of hell had risen into her.
"Make sure they don't move I'll be right back."
Syn promptly left the holding area and went to an area she had noticed before when she first got to KP. It was a small medical room. The scientists and doctors there looked at her with wonder as she grabbed a couple syringes as well as a couple vials and got them ready to draw blood. Grabbing some gauze and tape she left the room.
Returning to the holding area she saw that both Iris and nail were still down for the count. She flashed the needles at kaz and smiled as she knelt down next to Nail. She filled a vial with his blood and bandaged his arm witht he gauze and tape. Doing the same thing to Iris she then returned to the medical room and placed the vials in a holder. She then placed the container into a freezing unit and turned to the workers. "No one but Dorian or myself are to touch these or you'll wish you were never born. Do you undrstand?" The men and women nodded in compliance.
Syn made her way back to the mutaants and placed them into new cells and locked them in. Turning to Kaz with a wicked smile, "Now Dorian has fresh samples of DNA to work with."

Kaz's lungs were burning. When Iris didn't go down right away, he nearly sent a snap punch to the side of her head. Thankfully she fell, the punch would have used up more oxygen than he could spare at the moment. His eyes were wide as he moved and reached a working keypad. Quickly he punched the code in to have the air put back into the room. After waiting a moment Kaz took a deep breath, then three more to get rid of the CO2 in his lungs and muscles.
When Syn stepped out, she once again questioned Kaz about what he had done. "You don't understand sound do you." He said it matter of factly, not caring if she did or not. "Sound is vibration, vibration through molecules. You hear about people blowing eardrums from listening to music to loud, its because the vibrations were too much for their body tissue to handle." He moved against the wall. "With her being able to destroy the keypad, those vibrations were very powerful, they would have seriously injured either of us, internally." His last words were said with great emphasis. "Besides doing it this way, will break their spirits more. So close to escaping, snatched away so easily. How easy and fast we responded will not sit well with them I'm sure." Kaz gave Syn a sinister smirk.
As Syn left the room, Kaz decided to shift to his new form. A yell from hell escaped his mouth as his bones elongated, shifted positions, and new ones grew. A second set of arms burst out from his first as his chest became larger. His hands were now over four times the size they were, with sharp deadly claws at the end of each. His hair didn't grow, how it knew how long it was he would never know, but he was thankful it didn't get any longer.
Syn returned with a couple syringes and vials, Kaz quirked an eyebrow at her. Though he didn't say anything as she went about her business. He watched her leave again, taking care of the vials, he was sure. Kaz was resting, which seemed like he was nearly sitting, when Syn came back. "He does seem to have fun with that." He commented absently. He took a step as if to walk out, but stopped and turned to look at Syn. "I don't know why you do it, and I don't care. But DON'T question my actions again."
