The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> “Please leave me alone. Go back to your girlfriend and stay with the freaks, please.”
Well, this plan was quickly entering failure territory. Apparently, the mission was doomed from the start when Rebecca guided her ship into the Frigid B***h Bay and challenged a rude and bigoted iceberg.
Rebecca could have easily left the conversation there, but for some reason, the attitude ticked her off. The Scot had gone out of her way to try extending an olive branch and respect Carol's beliefs, misguided as they might have been. Everyone was raised differently, but to Rebecca, that did not excuse rudeness in the face of kindness.
After standing from her seat, Rebecca placed her hands on her hips, not raising her voice to draw attention of other residents, but her tone was indignant. "Listen, Ah can respect whatever way you were raised, bit that doesnae excuse being rude tae a well-meaning stranger. Like it or nae, you're a factor in my life for th' next year, sae if you have a problem with me dating girls, fine. Jist try nae tae be sae mean about it!" Rebecca crossed her arms in front of her chest, completely unaware of any problems Carol might have with her and Agnes besides sexual orientation.
Carol had laid all her cards on the table. She had said exactly what she meant to say and hoped that she got exactly the reaction that she was going for. In reality, Carol hated mutants. Oh, she wasn’t the type to go out and participate in rallies or mutant hate groups. Oh no, Carol dislike for mutants was deep alright, but she was careful to only let it out just enough so that she didn’t get lumped in with the rest of those psychotics.
Unfortunately, the events of the day had forced her hand. Her first roommate was just going to be a freak in general, but the second girl, the one with the wings, was a freak of nature. And that fact that this pretty red head was actually her girlfriend just made the matter all the worse. The last things that mutants needed to be doing was mating.
It was just sickening to imagine.
So, the redhead got up and looked ready to leave. Excellent. Carol could get back to her reading and hopefully the freaks in her room would be gone by the time that she came back so that she could finish preparing her room in peace…

She had jumped when the sudden, controlled voice of the foreigner tore through her tranquil mind. She was getting more irritated by the second. In silence, carol listened, letting the woman’s misguided flow into one ear and then flutter out the other before her brain was poisoned by a sympathizer. She caught snippets here and there but let them fall gracefully in the realm of unimportant thoughts.
Once she was done, Carol rolled her eyes. Setting her book down, she stood up to her full height, placed her hands on her hips, and let venom sink out of her teeth as she responded in as controlled a voice as she could muster.
“Listen here, you little soccer hooligan, tea-drinkin’, leprechaun,” she said with as bright a smile as she had. “I don’t tolerate muties, nor do I tolerate mutie sympathizers. So, rather than debase myself any further to someone like you, I suggest you just turn your little happy ass around and mark back in with the rest of the freaks until someone pours a bowl of Lucky Charms. Got it?” Conversation over, Carol gave Rebecca one last grin before she sat back down at her sofa and plucked her book.

Rebecca was taken aback for a moment, because clearly she brought a bisexual knife to an geneist gunfight. As Carol sat down, Rebecca stared blankly at her, momentarily devoid of anger or any emotion beyond confusion. "Oh, you're problem is the mutant thing?"
It probably should not have been that much of a surprise; mutant hate was still a problem with some people. Rebecca most likely did not make the connection because she was used to just seeing Agnes as a person rather than "a mutant." Still staring blankly as Carol fumbled with her headphone, she added, "Well that's silly. Bit whatever, jist give us our space an' leave Agnes be an' we'll be fine."
Knowing Carol hated Agnes (and unknowingly Rebecca herself,) it was easier to brush aside the girl's bigoted behavior. Plenty of people still had problems with mutants, and Rebecca could easily chalk that up to fear. It had to be intimidating to know that some people were born with weapon-level strength. Rebecca did not appreciate or respect Carol's pointless fear and hatred, but she had no reason to fight it.
Rebecca turned to walk away, but turned around one last time, with one of Carol's insults resurfacing in her mind. With a pout, she added, "An' Ah am NAE a leprechaun!" She continued on her way back to the room with stomping steps. Admittedly, she loved tea and she had been kicked out of a football match once or twice, but she was not short enough to be one of the wee people!
Returning to the room, Rebecca opened the door and put on her best smile to greet Agnes and Felicia once more. "Tha's better! Did Ah miss anything?"
That was really all that Agnes could say after Felicia was done explaining her powers. Just knowing that her new roommate was so powerful instantly made Agnes just a little self-conscious. Though, that probably was not the reaction that Felicia was looking for. Obviously the woman wanted acceptance and understanding, so, as soon as Agnes realized this, she swallowed her fear. She trusted that Felicia knew her powers well enough to not get out of hand.
She was going to make damn sure those hands were covered before she ever shook them again, that was for sure! But, deep down, she doubted that Felicia was the type of person who would have let anyone shake her hands without them being covered in the first place.
Agnes smiled as she nodded.
“That really is impressive,” she said.
Felicia smirked. “You’re weirded out, aren’t you?” she asked with a chuckle. “Don’t worry about it, it’s fine. I rarely take my gloves off and, so long as you don’t piss me off, you’ll be fine.”
Agnes blushed but smiled. She nodded. She liked Felicia a lot, the girl was confident, strong, and she didn’t let anything get in her way or bother her. Agnes hoped that one day she could develop a thick skin like Felicia had. It was just that Agnes knew so much about the horrors of the world already. Could she evolve to be like that before it was too late.
She guessed that only time would tell.
“Sorry,” she said, referencing how she really felt. “But, really, I’m impressed. You’re such a strong person. I envy you a little.”
Felicia smirked and patted Agnes ankle lightly. There was obviously and understanding there that the two of them would have to explore later. In the meantime, these topics were far too heavy for the first day of a new college; there was still so much to explore, so much to do!
The door creaked open and Agnes peeked from her spot atop the bed to find Rebecca peering in with a bright smile. Instantly Agnes face lit up as she beat her wings face and pushed herself off the bed. Gently she hovered to the ground and landed elegantly upon her feet. She moved over to Rebecca, unable to help the smile that wanted to take over her lips.
>> "Tha's better! Did Ah miss anything?"[/color]
“Nothing,” Agnes beamed. “We just decided that I’m going to take the top bunk and Felicia will take the bottom. We just gotta start unpacking now and we can all get something to eat. That sound good?” she asked as she eyed Rebecca, not really ready to rid herself of her sweet girlfriend’s presence just yet…

Rebecca was greeted by the faces of two girls who were clearly going to get along famously, which filled her with confidence. She could leave Agnes there, even in the presence of the Queen of Mean, because Felicia would have her back, and Felicia definitely seemed like the strong, fiery person to have in your corner.
Now that Agnes was in good hands, Rebecca was more confident about leaving, but she was still in no hurry. She approved of Agnes's proposed plan; she could at least stay for lunch and milk another hour or two with her girlfriend.
Rebecca picked up a box of Agnes's duffel bags which must have been transported while Rebecca was with Carol the she-witch. "Food sounds fantastic."
Putting away some folded tops and jeans in Agnes's dresser, Rebecca leaned in to Agnes to sneak a quick kiss on the cheek. She smiled and whispered, "Ah'm looking forward tae spending lots of time here this semester." Things were shaping up for the couple; there was no reason Fall would not be another wonderful chapter in their relationship.
