The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sarah knew she needed to take a breath. She needed to breathe in some oxygen before she fainted. She just couldn't bring herself to. The sight in front of her was too beautiful for her to think. It felt like her brain shut down on her...
As usual.
"Never gets old, does it?" her brother quietly asked her. Sarah shook her head slowly. "Breathe, little sister," he whispered into her ear.
This caused Sarah to take in a deep breath. She could feel the misty air coat her throat as she breathed in. With her first breath, she was now able to continue to breathe.
She stared it wonder at the waterfall that fed the river. It was always amazing to her. The natural water feature always did this to her, no matter how many times she saw it.
"Amazing," she whispered out. Eric nodded in agreement.
It was Sarah's last night in Washington. She couldn't sleep. When it became obvious she wouldn't be sleeping that night, she left her sleeping bag and tent. She was wearing a tank top and long pants, her usual camping sleep gear, so the night chill only hit her arms.
When she got outside the tent, she started for the waterfall. It was a short five minute hike. When she got there, she climbed a tree that was on the edge of the riverbank. It was one of her favorite places to sit and think.
When she was high in the tree, she just sat there. Her face was tilted up and her eyes on the stars above. 'I'm going to miss seeing the stars,'[/color] she thought as she sat there. A light breeze swept onto her face, pushing her hair back. The feel of the misty wind caused Sarah to close her eyes in content.
"It's going to be hard. I know that. I did this so I'd be stronger," the brunette whispered to the wind. "I moved so I could be a better person. So I could be independent."
She pushed a strand of her bangs back, so the wind could take it. "Was I wrong to do this? Was it wrong to leave the forest?"
She wanted to know. She was scared. She had only ever thought 'home' was the forests of Washington. She now knew that her home wasn't in the forest, but the city. It felt like it went against all that she was. She felt she would forget the forests. She was scared.
Sarah was nervous. After her mother had driven her to the airport, the young woman went to her gate. The whole time she traveled through the airport, she was thinking about her life choices.
Questions floated through her mind. Did she make the right choice? Should she really be in the city? Would she be happy so far from her family? She couldn't think about anything else.
When it came close to boarding time, Sarah was really scared.
"Little Archer," someone said.
The nickname shocked the woman into the present. She turned around to see Tonho and her Uncle Kinor. When she saw them standing there in their traditional clothes she stood.
"Uncle, cousin," she greeted.
"The spirits came to me, Little Archer. They wish for you not to worry. You will soon be where you belong."
Sarah stood frozen as both of the men turned and left. Nothing else was said. Nothing else was needed to be said.
When the plane boarded, Sarah was smiling at the thought of going home.
