The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Acheron dropped his hand, "Sure. And if you want to give my visits more validity, maybe you could feed me." The twinkle in his eyes showed that he was kidding. He didn't really expect her to feed him... every time. "Ever wanted a cat? In any specific color?" He grinned. "Look, you could call me whatever you wanted - just as long as it isn't Acheron or Scorn."
Lee cocked her head as Acheron suggested that she could feed him when he visited. She thought that the man had a slightly teasing expression about it, but she couldn't tell for sure.
But then Acheron asked if she had ever wanted a cat, and Lee shook her head. Well, it wasn't really that she hadn't ever wanted a cat, but she had never really been stable enough, in one place long enough to be able to have a pet of any sort. But the second part of his question gave her even more information about his powers. "Any colour?" She asked.
Acheron grinned broadly. "Any color." Then a thought occurred to him and he amended his last statement with less enthusiasm, "Any natural color." He was putting his life in her hands with the information he'd given her. If she chose to reveal it, his life would be over. His instincts had better be right on this one. He shivered, his lips were beginning to turn blue.
Lee almost breathed a sigh of relief when Acheron corrected himself, and clarified that he could be any natural colour of cat. At least she wouldn't suddenly have a bright blue or green cat showing up on her doorstep wanting to 'talk'.
But this guy was really starting to look cold out here. He was only wearing a tshirt and jeans, after all. "Are you going to be alright out here? Do you have anywhere to go?" Lee asked before she could stop herself. Even though she had been scared of getting caught because of this guy, still was actually, she understood now why Tarin had done some of the things he had recently. She just hadn't been able to help it, and based on his clothing, she was apparently doing quite a bit better than Acheron was at the moment.
She was pretty sure that Tarin would freak a bit when he found out, but Lee thought it was only fair; he had done essentially the same thing to her already. Plus, it had been him to point out that finding if not friends, but at least allies in this situation, was a good thing. And it wasn't as if she had told Acheron, he had already known. "Just make sure it's safe when you come," Lee asked him in a soft voice.
Acheron shook his head. He didn’t have anywhere to go… and he didn’t really want to. “The cat holds up better in cold weather than I d-do,” he said, giving her a small smile. He’d find somewhere relatively sheltered in the park to sleep. And if it, for whatever reason, snowed, there wouldn’t be many people out in the park at night, would there?
“I w-wouldn’t come if it wasn’t s-safe,” he assured Lee. His head snapped up, the birds’ chatter had changed. “Someone’s coming.” Whether it be friend or foe, he didn’t know. He did know that he wasn’t about to stick around until he found out it was an enemy. He shifted to a grey tabby with green eyes, looked at Lee for a moment, then dashed up the hill.
Luckily, after Acheron shook his head, he spoke, saying he faired better in cold weather in his cat form, saving Lee from speaking before she had been able to think things through fully, and therefore getting herself in trouble.
He continued, and Lee simply nodded. At least at the moment, he seemed smart enough to know not to come visit her if it wasn't safe, if he had been followed, or for whatever reason. But then again, he had also transformed in the middle of the park, and while he said there was no one around, and Lee hadn't seen anyone else either before or since, that didn't necessarily mean anything.
Acheron's head snapped up at that point, and at his words, Lee froze. Before she had been able to do anything else, Acheron had become a cat again, and was already leaving, quickly. At that, Lee turned, continuing on her way that she had been walking earlier. No, she had not just been conversing with a man who changed into a cat in front of her very eyes. Of course not.
Smoothing her face, hiding the fear that had appeared when she had heard that someone was coming, Lee looped around in the park and made her way back to the shop. She needed to talk with Tarin.
