The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

((OOC: This thread takes place right after X-men: Regenesis. For those who do not follow recent canon: the X-men were split in half by a falling out between Cyclops and Wolverine. Cyclops, who believes students should be trained to fight and even kill, remained in Utopia on the West Coast. Wolverine and his team, who belive kids should be kids, returned to New York to rebuild the first Xavier's Institute that has been destroyed after M-day. Now it is called the Jean Grey School, and, much like our very own Xavier's Sister School, it is a safe haven for students with mutant abilities. For the list of students and faculty, see the link above.))
"I can't believe we have not met them earlier" Maya noted, getting out of the car that just parked in front of the impressive bulk of the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. Very impressive. Even half demolished.
"Can you believe that? They have been here for a week and they already blew up half the school." she grinned at the others "Looks like it runs in the mutant family..."
Incidentally, that was also their reason for being here. Since Wolverine just moved a bunch of students and faculty back to the immediate neighborhood of the Sister School, it was only natural that the new X-team would show up to meet and greet, and do some heavy lifting to help with the restoration process. Not to mention to stare and fangasm over the most renown members of the original team of Professor X. That was not included in the official invitation, of course. But it was understood.
"Look at all the tech they've got" the mirrorwalked mused and they all piled out of the car and onto the sidewalk "I wonder if..."
Greetings, visitors. Welcome to the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. Excuse us for the mess. Pricipal Pryde will be with you momentarily. Please make yourselves at home, and avoid the inter-dimensional portal of evil demons in the garden. Everything is under control.
Maya's eyes widened at the voice that seemed to pierce right through their skulls from the inside out.
Gotta love telepaths. Greetings to you too, Ms. Grey.
((OOC: for the evil demons thing, and the school in general, read the brand new Marvel series Wolverine and the X-men.))

Jorge
Jorge was actually a little interested in this meeting. He, of course, had heard about the X-Men, that was his whole motivation for coming to New York. Even when he joined the X-Men, he found the situation completely surreal. But now, this was different. He was actually going to meet the first X-Men, those for which the school was named for, the team originally put together by the Sister School’s enigmatic founder, Professor Xavier. This was going to be extremely interesting.
First though, he had to survive the car trip with his fellow fawning X-Man, Maya aka Mirror. The young woman was practically bouncing of the walls of the vehicle as they drove to the site of the new school: Jean Grey’s School for Higher Learning. But Jorge said nothing to stifle her excitement. He had to admit that he was a little curious about this place too.
It was a known fact that there were probably more mutants in the world than what Xavier’s Sister School could handle. It helped that there was a place they could turn to if Xavier’s ever reached a point of being at capacity. Yes, it was needless to say that Jorge respected the X-Men, all X-Men, and he hoped that they would receive the same treatment in return.
When they finally arrived though, even the detective had to raise his brows in awe. The place looked like something out of a science fiction novel. The tech they displayed seemed to be far beyond anything that Jorge could ever imagine or come close to understanding. He had to admit that even though he had yet to met the faculty of this school, he was already more than impressed with what they were able to accomplish.
Maya was out of the car before Jorge could blink and he smirked as he climbed out as well. Dressed in just his leather jacket a loose t-shirt, and his jeans, the police officer looked very casual as he strolled up to Maya’s side and looked out over the entire school. This was definitely going to be interestin—

Jorge blinked in surprise as he turned around, trying to find the source of the voice. Having had little experience with telepaths, it took him a moment to realize that someone was actually talking inside of his head. Someone that was NOT[/b] him. That was only slightly unnerving but the detective was fine.
Umm, hello. Thank you for the kind invitation, he thought back, smiling a little in the process. Must be awkward to convey emotion when speaking in someone’s head. Then again, if they are reading your mind, more than likely they already can read your emotions to?
