The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Her vision had only just started to return, too slowly to help her in the fight, but just quick enough for her to see what beardy intended to do... There wasn't much she could do about it, either.
The way he had her pinned, she couldn't really manage to get a leg or arm up to swing at him with, and he had a grip on her that hurt her neck if she squirmed too much. Aside from whole "i'm being beaten" then, she wondering something. Where was Ami? She'd heard her a few times, but through the spots still blinding her, she hadn't been able to see her. Maybe now was the time to say something heroic... like, 'Run Ami! Run!' or 'Get outta here! I'll distract them!' The only thing that came to mind though, was 'man, Gawain is gonna kill me for getting his girlfriend in trouble.'
Not that it mattered, really. She figured she'd be seeing stars any moment, or maybe nothing. Maybe he'd hit her so hard she'd black out entirely, and then whatever happened after wouldn't be her problem anymore.
Well, at least not until she woke up again. If she woke up again... but, before her attacker could get that heavy hitter in, something strange happened. Nothing. No crack against her jaw, or zap from the mystery weapon he was using. In fact, Beardy all but forgot about her, though he still had a hand on her face, and was talking to some other lady. (if she could take a guess at gender based on that elegant nickname he'd just used)
For a moment grip holding her down loosened. She attempted to use it to her advantage by jerking free, grabbing onto his arm, and using a leg to try and flip him over her.
The attempt was no good. The grip tightened and the man forced the dark-haired woman back into submission.
As the mystery lady and the thugs talked, Amelia and Megan's vision slowly started to return in spots. It wasn't perfect yet, but now that they weren't getting knocked around like punching bags, they might actually be able to recover and get a sense of their surroundings. Shame it was a bit too slow for Amelia's liking.
"I think you should let them go," she said. Her eyes were narrowed, arms crossed in a 'don't-mess-with-me' sort of way. The two thugs didn't take it as such. They thought she was simply mouthy and didn't know her place. She didn't look big and intimidating enough to be a threat (although the disappearance of the aura wiffle bat had been weird. What the heck?). She definitely was no Big Bertha. That was their boss lady, Big Bertha. Leader of their gang. She didn't really care what her gang members did with their discretionary time, so long as it didn't get them arrested (or they didn't get arrested for it).
Baldy laughed. "Are you some sort of hero, lady?" He grinned.
Beard-face glared at her dangerously. Maybe he was smarter than baldy? "I don't see no panties on the outside of her pants," he sneered. Okay, maybe not.
Lenna smiled calmly. "I'm serious. It's a good suggestion." She'd dealt with punks like this before. "I don't think you'd like it if I tore that guy's beard off and glued it to your bald head." Her head jerked from thug to thug, accentuating her point.
