The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Allison grinned when Charlotte laughed. “I like to think that running from things that are too scary to handle is at least an intelligent choice, if not a very good instinct for your reputation.”
“Refuge is… well, yeah. It is.” Allison wasn’t entirely sure what to think that Charlotte lived across from Sanctuary, except that it was a much larger coincidence than she was really willing to trust. All of New York, and Charlotte just happened to live across the street from her? Admittedly, there were plenty of people who lived in the same building as Allison that she hadn’t met, but they also hadn’t happened to get her kidnapped. “I live there… although, I didn’t really need to. I was being stubborn. It’s….” Allison paused. She actually hadn’t spent that much time in Sanctuary, other than her room. Though, the fact that she even had a room of her own…. “It’s nice. And huge, really. ...I’m not really sure about all of it, I’ve mostly stayed in my room or been out somewhere.”
One dark eyebrow rose, and she nodded her head slowly at the girl.
"It is like... a boarding house? Is it free to live there so long as you're doing sh*t for people or something?"
Considering the fact that she lived with Roach free of charge, she couldn't really complain about her own home. But... she did like the idea of having a bigger place...
Sharing it with other people though? That was a deal breaker.
She needed her own space, as faaar away from the city and it's many annoying denizens as physically possible. "I've been considering moving somewhere bigger. My apartment is getting pretty cramped."
What with the hoard of looms now occupying an entire corner of her room..."I'm thinking of hunting down one of those old loft apartments scattered around the city... I just have to get my roommate to agree to move with me."
Which... was a task in itself. Damn bug was attached to his stupid apartment like he had been born in it or something.
“I… sort of? I’m not doing anything for anyone there, at least. I think it’s free no matter what, except you have to be a mutant. I’ve never seen anyone who isn’t a mutant there.” Which was kind of odd. Wouldn’t there have at least been, like, reporters, or government inspectors or something? She wasn’t sure what regulations homeless shelters had on them, but there must be some. Of course, she didn’t exactly spend her days lurking in the lobby, so they would have been easy to miss.
“Apartments get that way fairly quickly.” Allison was used to living in big cities, but apartments had been new. And thanks to her old landlord’s opinions, tiny. Her old apartment might have been a bit bigger than her room in Sanctuary, but her room in Sanctuary didn’t have to include a kitchen or living-dining-entrance-whatever that room had been meant to be.
“Roommate?” Hopefully not also whoever had inspired her to be a comic. “Good luck.”
Yeah... getting Roach to agree to move would be hard... but hell, she'd been through other trials that seemed impossible before. She was sure that she would eventually sway him over to her side. "But... anyway, I think I'm in dire need of rest. Maybe even a heavy dose of aspirin or something, or a drink!"
Yeah... a drink would solve a lot of her problems, but... probably also cause a few more. Whenever possible, she tried not to partake of the drink around Roach. She liked to be at her best, though a glass of wine was still acceptable in her mind, and she knew exactly where she had hidden a bottle for special occasions.
...not that many special occasions happened at Bug house.
"It was... interesting meeting you, Allison. Can't say I regret it, but... can't really say it was all that fun either." With a lazy half grin, she held one hand out toward the girl, a shake of good faith for a war won.
“I don’t think a drink and an aspirin solve exactly the same problems.” Not that Allison could blame Charlotte at all for wanting both. She fully understood that. That Charlotte actually, apparently, had aspirin and a drink to consider, Allison was a bit more resentful of.
Not that she’d be likely to take aspirin, anyway, even if she had it. That was why she didn’t have it. But a drink would have been nice. She didn’t want to think.
Of course, that could also be achieved by just going to sleep when she got back….
All right, maybe she had no reason to be jealous at all. It wasn’t her fault she was used to always being the one who had things. She should still probably get over it, anyway.
“At least we accomplished something, I think.” Allison shook Charlotte’s hand, grinning back.
And, a somewhat insane offer that she probably would have stopped herself from asking had her mind not still been caught up on aspirin and alcohol. “Let me know, if you’re planning to fight again.”
She was a little taken back for a moment, and the eyebrow raise and slight tilt of her head clearly expressed it. She eyed the girl for a few moments, before her grin returned... if slightly more devious this time around.
"Will do, Allison. Ciao!"
She mock saluted the girl, before tucking her hands into her pockets and turning around. Her apartment was only a short trudge down the street, not too far at all.
It was... oddly satisfying having someone offer to go out fighting with her, especially after having only just met her. Satisfying and surprising.... and uplifting, in a strange way. She couldn't have asked for anyone better as a companion... Or was she a sidekick? Sidekick Allison!... Nah, it didn't have a ring to it. She'd have to try and come up with names later, after some sleep...
With one last glance over her shoulder, she snorted softly to herself and continued on. Life still had a way of surprising her sometimes, thankfully, this one had been pleasant.
