The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The shoe came off, but slowly. A lot of wiggling and jimmying had been involved. Also, laces at some point. Probably too slow.
She brought it up. And he was right in front of her face. Her palms came up in front of her hand over hand, and she focused on shooting out the hand holding the shoe like the force of a geyser. He batted it aside with the side of his wrist, and kept going. He'd seen all her tricks. His next blow was an open-palmed strike that sent her skidding across the room.
Amelia's back hit a pillar with a crunch. That rat had gotten under her guard. As her vision faded into unconsciousness, a thought drifted past lazily, like a Sunday driver. It hung its head outside the window to share a friendly observation. 'Guard? What guard?'
The emperor bent to retrieve his blade. His eyes shifted scathingly back to the fallen panda girl as he sheathed it. He scoffed. He hadn't even needed to use 1/10 of his power to claim victory. There was no humor in this joke.
With a jerk of his head, two guards appeared on either of Amelia's sides. They moved to draw their blades. One utterance from the emperor was all the command they required. "Kill."They moved to oblige.
Swords were raised and fell with a deadly hiss, just to disappear into nothingness a split second before they did any harm. There were a few moments of darkness before the lights flickered on again in the now empty and sterile Danger Room, and Gawain walked in, hurrying over to his girlfriend who was still lying on the ground.
"Ami?..." he knelt next to her trying to see how much damage was done.
Doc Prof tutted and shook his head as he puttered. Moving this. Moving that. A whole fifteen minutes had passed since the girl had been brought in to him. A whole fifteen, and she still wasn't awake.
He shot another harsh look Gawain's way. The girl was going to be fine, but as always, he didn't like having to cover for the kid's mistakes.
The covers shifted. Amelia sat up quickly. Her arms were in front of her face in a guard. The guard dropped after a second, once she realized there weren't any pointy swords coming at her, or any fists.
She blinked. Then looked weakly towards Gawain. "... How'd I do?" She asked. She knew the answer. It pissed her off.
Ami was out cold for quite a while; Gawain was getting worried. Wherever DocProf was had to be the safest place on the planet; but that was a rational thought, and people are not rational when their girlfriend is hurt. Especially if it was kinda sorta their fault.
Ami stirred, than sat bolt upright. Gawain moved over to sit on the edge of the bed.
>>"... How'd I do?"
"Surprisingly well" he smirked, hugging her "Hey Panda. Are you feeling okay?"
"Like I hit a pillar and failed..." She sighed. She hugged back and noted that her arms didn't feel like they were shattered. "Nothing's broken, though. I'm fine."
I'll just have to figure out exactly what went wrong and try again... She thought.
"There will be a take two eventually. But I need practice. I blame me."
>>"Like I hit a pillar and failed... Nothing's broken, though. I'm fine. There will be a take two eventually. But I need practice. I blame me."
"That's good, I was worried about that for a moment" he chuckled, kissing her on the forehead "Ya'll get there. It was kinda hardcore for a training sim. Kicked my ass the first time too."
DocProf was making faces, and Gawain rolled his eyes. Ami was going to be fine, and he loved the doc to bits, but he needed to be annoyed at someone, that's just how people work.
She honestly didn't feel like kissing right now, but she let him.
"I will," she agreed.
Amelia was a lot angrier now than she let on. It all was directed inwards, not towards Gawain. It was her fault she'd failed. Her fault she hadn't been ready. She'd have to do something about it. For now, she played the Good Girlfriend role and let him baby her until she felt like walking. Later, there would be training in spades.
