The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Once her brother cut in and had Mercury give a brief display of what the Abyssi can do, Syn simply rolled her eyes and continued jogging. It was her thought that the red men enjoyed to show off in whatever fashion they could. She couldn’t really blame them though. Who else is as strong as they are?
Kyle returned to his questioning regarding Syn’s ability which her brother was oh so kind enough to speak of. “No, there isn’t a way to display it and most likely you won’t even know when I’m using it.” She smiled wickedly. “For all you know I’ve been using it this whole time.” Letting the man wonder about that for a moment the goth girl continued. “My talent is much more subtle than raw strength and yet more powerful at the same time. I’d rather not give a demonstration at this time however.”
Feeling the muscles in her legs warming up the girl smiled. It was the start of getting back into her top form again. Figuring doing some cardio and maybe some light weights would be good for a first day of working out. Syn responded to the other question asked by Kyle. “Yes, he is my older brother. You mean you couldn’t tell?”
"with him, its easier to make him not want to catch you in it, just less of a hassle." Abyss shrugged, if he survived and Mercury hadn't come running to him, then it obviously worked out better than he might have thought..
The big man plodded along at the same steady pace instead of adjusting the speed to go faster. He wasn't worried about going fast, just being able to go for longer.
"Yes, My youngest sister. and apparently someone is not up for show and tell, though I am guessing that you are better off not seeing her in action until it involves someone else." He glanced at Syn from the corner of his eye and smirked, he wouldn't give away her secrets, but it just wouldn't be the same if he couldn't harass her a bit.
Soldiering along on the treadmill, Kyle lifted a hand to his chin to ponder Syn's words. She said that she could have been using her power this entire time. Did that mean it was an ability that, like his, had an internal factor that did what one could not see? Perhaps it worked in ways to increase her physical state, or her appearance. Maybe not the physical abilities like his own, but maybe her looks, which bared no easy resemblance that he could see to the man she called brother.
There was always another possibility; her powers affected others. Thinking back to her first arrival, Kyle went over the whole event in his mind again, bit by bit. Had she looked different when she came in? No, she looked the same now as she did when she was unaware of his presence, so unless her power was constantly in effect, that one was unlikely. There was always the chance it affected the way a person acted but, to his knowledge, his actions had been normal.
Rolling the ideas around in his head for a little while longer, Kyle eventually decided that without information from her, or proof of something out of the ordinary happening, Syn's power would remain a mystery. For now, he'd just have to be content with the knowledge, hopefully, that she wasn't using whatever her power was on him at the moment.
Resuming his pace without missing a step, Kyle turned back to the siblings, his smile barely faded. "No, I honestly could not. You don't look anything like your brother Syn, at least in no way I can discern.
Personally, as long as her power doesn't involve tearing me apart in a way unseen, I would have no problem seeing it work in action, even if I was the guinea pig for it. I mean, I enjoy seeing what each mutant has been gifted with; it never disappoints.
But, if your wish for now is to keep it a secret, then by all means. I would like to find out about it eventually though, if that's alright."
Shooting a subtle glare at her brother the girl wished she could reach over and slug him one even if he was just pestering her in his brotherly way. Though she was happy he didn’t give any details of her ability. Syn was never one to show off her power. It was more like her secret weapon and was mostly only used when needed. Most other times she only had to use her own words to get reactions from people.
“I never did like show and tell much, unless it’s someone showing me what they can do without me telling them to.” The dark girl was hoping her earlier statement had gotten into Kyle’s head and made him wonder. Adding a sly smile to the equation Syn continued her jogging pace on the treadmill, but she kept her attention on Kyle even if she wasn’t looking at him. “We are brother and sister and I was being sarcastic. We’ve never looked alike, thank god.”
Abyss chuckled softly at that glare, he had missed it so, yes he missed the occasional soft moment where Syn had let her guard down when no one else was looking but, he missed this to, subtly bothering her when no one else dared say a word out of line to her. He did it because one he enjoyed and two it was good for her. He had to bring the dark princess back down to earth from time to time.
"Hey I was small and pale once! abyss objected to Syn's final statement. He started to jog slightly hard at the same pace, his foot falls were coming in a little heavier as they went.
"best of luck Forte, You just told her what you wanted, now you are going to have to barter even for a hint." The big man chuckled again, it was such the third wheel.
Oh, Syn's words had indeed dug deep into his mind, twisting their way around his brain as he tried to deduce what kind of power she was hiding. A man could go mad trying to find the hidden meaning behind her words, to try and root out the clues that would lead to an answer. So, instead of driving himself off the deep end, Kyle decided that some answers were best left to come on their own.
Shaking his head, Kyle turned his attention back to the siblings, who were continuing their light verbal sparring. Suppressing a smirk that was struggling to the surface of his face, Kyle shook his head again, the amusement over their situation daring itself to be known.
"I wouldn't say looking alike is bad, depending on what looks alike. You could have the same eyes, for example. But it's true; you wouldn't look half as good if you were red too.
Heh, I'd say I was already trying to barter for a hint, without much success I might add. Syn here seems to enjoy making me work for even the slightest information; can't say I mind though." Speeding up the treadmill once again, Kyle was now taking much larger steps in order to keep from being swept off his feet by the rapidly moving surface beneath him. "Shall we move onto the weights soon?"
Opting to not comment further on her brother’s reply regarding appearances, Syn simply listened to the rest of his comments. She smiled when the two males confirmed that she had been successful at being difficult. Though Kyle continued to pry nonetheless. He was definitely starting to live up to the description Issie had given. “Oh don’t worry Kyle. You’re not the only one who doesn’t get information easily from me. Though I am curious as to why you are enjoying it.”
Continuing with her nice jog Syn shook her head at Kyle’s last question. “You boys can but I’m working on cardio today. I’m sure my brother would be happy to spot you.” Making that statement sound as dull as possible the goth princess mentally pictured the two boys lifting weights and trying to show off more.
Abyss sighed, “I can’t think of anyone that would look more fitting wearing this particular shade of devilish red.” Her elder brother jested. Though if he were being honest it was true. His smile broadened. ‘Well then, you’ll likely enjoy her company plenty.”
Abyss nodded to Syn’s suggestion and hit the stop button with a huff, running wasn’t the same without purpose. It was one thing if you were chasing someone who needed smashing, but jogging simply to jog was absurd. “I’m happy to spot you, but the rest of the room is wasted on me, maybe I’ll do jumping jacks while you lift weights. and help if you need it."
The look and tone from his sister made him chuckle. "We can jump rope or do a video if you like Syn, I did come here to work out with you first and foremost."
For a moment, Kyle droned out the world. Not to be rude or anything like that, but because the speed on his treadmill had been cranked to maximum for a minute and he had to focus on not falling flat on his face.
As the final second passed, Kyle was already slapping the stop button on his machine and grabbing the rails to let the speeding world beneath his feet slither their way to a stop. Of course, he showed little signs of exhaustion yet, letting out a little breath he had been holding unconsciously during his run. With a grin, Kyle lowered himself back down once the tread had slowed to a manageable speed , then dropped right back into the conversation like no break had been taken.
"Why would I enjoy it? Simple; some of the best things in life you have to work for. So if I have to try a little harder to learn something, might as well enjoy the ride instead of letting it drive me insane, no?"
Hopping off the treadmill, Kyle turned his attention to Abyss, chuckling in amusement at the big man. "I'll good with doing just about anything to be honest. If you want to wait for your sister, I don't mind waiting either. After all; she is quite the interesting company."
Rolling her eyes at the color comment and shaking her head slightly Syn started to slow down the speed of her treadmill. Her heart rate was up where it should be, but it most likely got to that level sooner than when she was in better shape. It was something she was determined to get back to.
“I want to do a video today so I can ensure I get a full body workout.” Making sure the running machine had stopped the girl moved to pop in a Zumba workout video. Syn moved to a place where she would have enough space to move and still be safe from her brother’s reach. “Try not to tear up the place ok?”
Before the video started Syn listened to Kyle’s reasoning. “Some things in life you may not want to volunteer yourself for. Not everything is a joyous experience.” The video started explaining what was about to take place. In that moment Syn looked to Kyle in response to his last statement. “Interesting company huh?”
Abyss laughed at forte's happy go lucky nature. Dig, dig, dig your own grave, friend. He shook his head and nodded to Syn and Forte, A video it was.
'You know good and well I won't destroy anything I don't mean to." He made a face of indignation at Syn. It was for fun of course, she would have to try harder than that to bother him and she knew it. Poking her lightly with his tail that she was still with in the reach of. That said he did make sure that neither of his fellow work out enthusiasts were in his immediate reach.
It was time to Zoomba! He wasn't quick but he was oddly graceful particularly for someone of his size.
While Syn and Abyss were opting to follow one of those instructional videos, Kyle had chosen a different course of action for the moment. Not far from where the two of them were preparing to twist this way and that was the dumbbell rack, with rows of various weights of different numbers were quietly waiting for someone to use them. Glancing at Syn as she turned to him, Kyle shrugged and made his way over to the weights.
He grabbed three sets of them; the 40's, the 50's and finally the 60's, the one's he could do with moderate ease. Actually, the sixty's were just above what he could do effectively, but then, they were for power pumping. He would only do a few reps with them, to bolster his own strength. Grabbing the forties first, Kyle rejoined Syn and Abyss, noting with a smile that he had yet to answer Syn's question.
"Oh yes, the most interesting of company. You see, I'm either in the company of weaker minded individuals or those that are a challenge to me physically. It's been a while since I've been in the company of someone who knows her way around words as well as you." Taking a breath, Kyle started alternating in lifting the weights in his hands, left arm up, right arm up. He felt clearly the muscles beneath his arms working to lift and enjoyed feeling them tighten with every move.
"And while that's true Syn, I figure it's always best to look on the positive side of things. Keeps one from getting down in the dumps. So Abyss....are there any more of you I should watch out for? And ways to tell them apart from you or Mercury?"
The exercise video started and Syn began following along, but she noticed Kyle had decided to do his own thing with some weights. She listened to his explanation for stating he was amongst interesting company, and why it was so interesting. “So are those the kind of people you tend to prefer then? Weaker minded or ones physically challenging to you?” Syn moved with the video. “I personally like to see how someone reacts to how I talk to them. It’s always fun getting reactions from words especially when the other person doesn’t think they’re doing anything. I notice a lot about a person from their reactions.”
Abyss smiled and said absolutely nothing. He twisted and kicked and moved to the zumba rhythm. he exercised and let the pair go back and forth, with what he couldn't decide if it was a civil conversation or a duel to the death.
he glanced at the feathers that Forte picked up. He tried not to judge, but he looked like he could manage more than sixty pound reps. slacker.
'Yeah, there is Venus, who would try to talk to you like you are trrying to talk to her, if you catch his eye. Mars and Jupiter, don't piss off jupiter, He has a temper on him worse than any tantrum Mercury will manage. Saturn and Pluto, you won't catch the black tail Pluto around the sanctuary any more though."
he then thought carefully. ' We tend to dress similarly, so unless you have picked up on our personalities there isn't much to go on, except for Pluto.
By the time Syn and Abyss had answered his questions, Kyle had finished doing the curls with the 40's, doing three reps of ten lifts a piece. There was a slight tugging in his muscles, but it was easy enough to push aside. His arms would last through a much longer regiment then that; which is why he moved to the hammer curls, lifting both in alternating pumps. Breathing easy and controlled, Kyle focused on Syn's reply first.
"Hah, well, I do like people that are a challenge to me physically. I never back down from a good chance to test my mettle against another. But it's not that I prefer weaker minded people, just that those are usually the one's I run into. Present company non-withstanding, of course."
Bending over to drop the weights, Kyle dropped back onto the bench that was behind him and grabbed the fifties, resting them on his knees before laying on his back and swinging them both out from his chest out to the side. Lord, did he love the flies. "I'm pretty decent at reading body language myself, though I'm having some trouble reading yours. But its always nice to have a change of pace every now and then in who you deal with."
From there, he turned his attention to Abyss, considering the words he had spoken. If they all looked the same, it would make identifying them in the future a pain in the ass. But, if they were as different personality wise as Abyss was making them out to be, then it would take only the most basic of interaction to tell them apart. Thankfully, he would likely be able to pick Abyss or Mercury apart from their fellows, this Pluto and Venus as well for their unique traits. Chuckling, Kyle sat up and started doing the curls again with the higher weight.
"So there's you who's nice and cool, Mercury who's going to look like he wants to crush my head, Venus who'll try and sleep with me, maybe, Jupiter who I should avoid pissing off and Pluto who's got a black tail that's clashing with the red. That just leaves Mars and Saturn, but I think I can simply ask if the time comes.
That's information I very much appreciate big guy. Do you all share this inhuman level of strength, or do all of you have some slight differences, like that void of yours?"
