The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Rebecca hated Akshay.
It was all his fault because he was so darn good at that card game. There was a party at a coworker's house and Akshay somehow convinced Rebecca to go. She told him partying was not her thing, but the boy was persuasive. No, that was not the word. Persistent. The boy was persistent.
The party was more fun than she expected. There were people drinking, but that was the last example of what she "expected" out of an American party. There was a lot of video game playing, and Rebecca got very in to a game of Mario Party on the Wii. The tipsy people in the room had loud, entertaining debates about superheroes, (including the age-old debate over who would win in a fight: Spectacular Man or Flying Fox?)
At one point in the night, those who knew how to played card games. Jean did his best to teach Rebecca, but she only grasped the basics. One duel was garnering more attention than the others: Akshay and Lexi. Akshay was a great Magic player, but Lexi was widely acknowledged as the best in the shop.
The rest of the rowdy group started cheering on their respective hero: the girls behind Lexi and the boys rallying behind Akshay. In the heat of the excitement, one male voice called out, "Whoever loses, their side has to work next Saturday!"
A bold female voice replied, "Screw it! The losers have to work Saturday in costume."
Rebecca was not sure how many drinks that voice was running on, but she certainly started rooting harder.
It was Saturday now, and since Rebecca was standing behind a counter as Spectacular Girl, it was safe to say Akshay pulled off the miracle victory. It was her second time working in the costume, so she was less uncomfortable showing her stomach and legs off. (She was not happy about it, but it was something she was becoming begrudgingly used to.) If anything, thanks to her workouts with Emerald, she was more toned than before.
Rebecca brushed away some fake strands of blonde hair out of her face, looking around at the happy shoppers talking with various superheroines. Most of the girls she worked with were rather pretty, and were even less resistant to wearing some daring costumes.
She could tell they were beautiful, but what alluded her was whether or not she found them attractive. She pondered the thought, waiting for someone to come ring out a purchase.
Agnes smirked as she strolled down the sidewalk. She remembered Rebecca’s grumbling last night. She had to dress in costume again because of some bet that went wrong between the men and the women who worked in the comic shop. Now, apparently, all the girls were working Saturday in costumes that they wore for the last promo day. Agnes had dropped by that day, but she had only seen Rebecca to pick up the comics that were left for her. Now though, she was showing up just to shower her girlfriend with moral support. It was obvious that Rebecca was not pleased that she had to work today so hopefully Agnes would be able to brighten her day by showing up.
Dressed normally in just her favorite jean jacket, dark blue jeans, and a deep green top, the young runaway smiled sweetly as she saw the comic shop come into view. Strolling down the street, she had already watched as a several guys walked in and then walked out and she arched her brow. There certainly were a number of male customers today.
Not surprising, considering that the shop was going to be full of young girls dressed up as scantily clad comic characters. Instantly she grimaced though. She started to feel really bad for Rebecca now. It was a good thing she showed up to at least hang out for a bit and invite her to lunch.
Walking up to the front door, Agnes folded her wings down so that she would not strike anyone with their fluttering. The last thing she wanted to do was embarrass herself or Rebecca.
She pulled it open, heard the automatic doorbell ring, and Agnes sighed. She really did love the smell of comic books. The ink, the fresh paper, it was all such a good feeling. Of course she didn’t care for the smell of nachos and hotdogs that seemed to come off of every fanboy in the room. As a matter of fact, it made her just the tiniest bit queasy but she managed to keep down her breakfast. Instead she focused on the task at hand of finding the next issue of her com—errr!...of finding Rebecca…
…ahem.
She paused as she surveyed the whole shop. Those poor girls. Their costumes were rather scandalous but Agnes looked passed all them looking for the one woman that she was here to find. A glance at the counter and Agnes grinned as she found Rebecca distracted by a larger comic shopper who was holding up a stack of comics and trying to debate with her the plausibility of Spectacular Man being beat up by Supreme Man. It was an argument that Agnes knew was flawed since Supreme Man was just a knock off of Spectacular Man made by a separate comic company. But fanboys loved to argue.
And thankfully his debate with Rebecca forced her to turn her back away from the door. Carefully Agnes crept up to the side of the counter and casually waited, listening as Rebecca attempted to get a word in edgewise while ringing up his purchase. Poor Rebecca was in for an earful...
Eventually she would turn around to see her…eventually…

Rebecca was getting the hang of comic jargon, but she was not nearly as versed in the topic as her clientele. It was to her benefit to remain in character; as the third-cousin of Spectacular Man's second wife, Spectacular Girl just had to testify that her super-strong cousin would never lose when the chips were down.
The man chuckled and handed her the money, adding, "Thank you. Um, I think that girl wants something."
Rebecca was uncertain what the man meant until she turned to her side and found a welcome surprise. "Aggie!" She leaned her body over the counter and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend. She kissed the black-haired girl, remaining in the kiss before remembering that they were in public, and she was at work.
"Ah didnae expect ye today!" She looked around at her coworkers, recalling the wondering she was doing moments prior. What did Agnes think of them? Maybe there was a way to ease into a conversation like that. "Come tae take a look at pretty lassies in costumes an' spandex?"
Agnes had smiled sweetly at the man that was at the counter but her attention was focused squarely on Rebecca and the costume that she wore. She really did look absolutely adorable in it, and she was surprised that her usually shy, redheaded angel was okay with wearing it. After all, it was a little revealing (for Rebecca at least). But Agnes had guessed that she was rather dedicated to her job so she was willing to do it. On top of that, she lost a bet so she needed to pay up. Well, SHE didn’t lose the bet. She just backed the wrong person.
Either way, Agnes had to commend Rebecca for her dedication. She doubted that she would ever be able to do the same thing. Even though her scars were healed, she still had at least some self-consciousness. Maybe one day, though…
It was then that Agnes looked up to see that Rebecca had finally taken notice of her. The look of happiness and surprise on Rebecca’s face was enough to warm Agnes’ heart to the point that she had to smile wide.
>> "Aggie!"
Agnes grinned as Rebecca practically leapt over the counter to wrap her arms around her and pull her in for a quick hug and kiss. Agnes blushed at the public display of affection, but really, how could she deny her? That did not mean her own wings did not flutter in surprise and nervousness, but she didn’t let that stop her. Instead she just smirked between kisses and returned the gesture in just as sweet a manner.
But when their kiss broke, and Rebecca realized that they were at her work, Agnes cheeks were a bright red. Her wings lowered as she smile casually brushed the hair out of her face. A glance to the side and she noticed the larger gentlemen who had been talking with her girlfriend was still there, gawking a little at the two of them.
Finally he just chuckled as a silly grin came over his face.
“Cooool,” he said as he took his purchases, change and proceeded to leave them. For Agnes, he really was not walking fast enough. But she sighed as she turned back to Rebecca with a beaming smile.
>> "Ah didnae expect ye today! Come tae take a look at pretty lassies in costumes an' spandex?"
Agnes chuckled and shook her head.
“The only pretty girl in costume I came to see was you,” Agnes said with a grin as she leaned against the counter. She then sighed as she looked at all the rest of the girls in costume that were working today. “But, must be hard for you, you know. Seeing all these pretty girls in costume all day. Should I be worried?” she asked with a shy smile.

Rebecca shrugged off the departing comment from the customer. Heck, Spectacular Girl just kissed a pretty girl with wings; that had to be some kind of nerd fantasy; the thought was even a bit exhilerating for her. (Hmm, maybe Ah shoulds bring th' costume home...)
>> “The only pretty girl in costume I came to see was you. But, must be hard for you, you know. Seeing all these pretty girls in costume all day. Should I be worried?”
Rebecca was flattered by her girlfriend’s “I only have eyes for you” mentality, but for the moment, it was not exactly what she was looking for. She was confident enough in the knowledge that Agnes would not saunter off with the nearest thing in a bikini, so she was comfortable enough seeking an honest opinion about Agnes’s taste in women.
Rebecca chuckled, deciding not to give up on spinning the conversation in her direction. ”Yoo’re th’ only super-power’d lass Ah need. ‘Sides,” back to her ulterior motive, ”Ye were th’ only gal tae catch mah eye. Ah’m still figurin’ out what Ah even look fer in women.”
When it came to admiring the men-folk, Rebecca had a vague concept of what she liked: tall, dark hair, nice eyes, and a beard never hurt. With women… was it short or tall, blonde or brunette, busty or callipygian? She thought Agnes was beautiful, but were there other things she found attractive? (There was no law against finding other people attractive, after all.)
Agnes could provide a good foil. ”Seriously, Ah’d love tae knoo what it is, ye look fer in yer women—an’ nae jist ‘freckled redheads wi’ mismatched eyes.’” Rebecca scanned her coworkers around the shop; surely there was at least one Agnes thought fit into her “type,” and Rebecca would get it out of her.
>> ”Yoo’re th’ only super-power’d lass Ah need. ‘Sides, Ye were th’ only gal tae catch mah eye. Ah’m still figurin’ out what Ah even look fer in women.”
Agnes blushed a little bit. It was cutesy talk, and she loved to hear it, but that did not mean that it was not any less embarrassing. Just a few kind words from Rebecca managed, of course, to always make the young runaway’s cheeks turn a fiery red. But she was doing better with managing her easiness with being flustered. Out in public was still an issue, obviously.
But she smirked as she quickly managed to calm herself. She had to learn that it was okay to take nice compliments.
It was Rebecca’s next statement that made Agnes tilt her head a little curiously. She knew that she cared for her deeply but sometimes Agnes had a tendency to forget that this was still completely new to Rebecca. Not that Agnes herself was any expert at being a lesbian, but between the two of them, she did have more experience. She came to this realization about herself almost a year ago. She still had a lot to learn but she needed to have understanding that this was new to Rebecca as well.
“You’ll figure things you,” Agnes said encouragingly. “And I’ll be with you the whole time. I’m not going anywhere so you won’t be alone.” She beamed.
She sighed though. Rebecca seemed to be up to something. Something that she was still trying to guess at when she switched the topic back to herself…
>> ”Seriously, Ah’d love tae knoo what it is, ye look fer in yer women—an’ nae jist ‘freckled redheads wi’ mismatched eyes.’”
“Oh, Rebecca…I…I dunno…” she responded looked just a little embarrassed by the request.
To be honest she felt a little embarrassed about something like that. Sure she found other girl’s attractive, but she was not entirely sure how she felt about actively pointing to someone and saying that they were pretty, or had a nice face, or pretty body. It just didn’t feel comfortable. Her face was a little red with the thoughts about what Rebecca was asking her to do. To be honest, she could understand the reasons why she wanted to know, but for whatever reason it just made the runaway a little uneasy. But she couldn’t just leave her in the dark, could she?
R-Rebecca…are…are you sure you want to do this?” She asked. Nervously, she brushed her fingers through her hair and began to survey the rest of the occupants in the store. With a sigh, she shrugged as she pointed to one young woman, she guessed one of Rebecca’s fellow workers in costume. “I…I guess she’s pretty,” she responded with a shrug. “The girl dressed as Weather Vixen.”
Agnes felt awkward again. For whatever reason, she just didn’t feel right about talking about other girls while with Rebecca. Permission or not…

>> “You’ll figure things out. And I’ll be with you the whole time. I’m not going anywhere so you won’t be alone.”
Agnes was as reserved as Rebecca was, but she was also more secure in understanding her sexuality. It was nice to be able to confide in her through the confusing time she inevitably would go through to figure herself out.
>> “Oh, Rebecca…I…I dunno… R-Rebecca…are…are you sure you want to do this? I…I guess she’s pretty; The girl dressed as Weather Vixen.”
Her girlfriend tried to give her an out, but Rebecca was comfortable with the situation she concocted herself, so she nodded to affirm her. Agnes sounded uncertain, but she did confess to finding one of Rebecca's coworkers pretty. The girl's name was Clara, and she was indeed a rather lovely woman, standing tall and slender.
Rebecca assessed the choice. "Interesting! Sae dae ye like th' darker complexion ur th' long legs?"
The young Scot looked over at her friend and thought about whether or not the features sent a signal of excitement through her. "Hmm... see, Ah dornt think she daes it fer me." Maybe she prefer lighter skin-tones, or maybe there was something about the body-type, but she did not feel it.
She tried to pick someone who was a contrast from Clara and came across Miley as Power Thief. "Wha dae ye think of her? Ah mean, she's curvy. Maybe tha's nice?" She certainly thought Miley was beautiful, but if she was single, would Miley be the type of girl she would hit on? (Not that Rebecca would be so bold as to hit on someone.)
>> "Interesting! Sae dae ye like th' darker complexion ur th' long legs?"
“I…I don’t know…” she admitted. “Her legs…well…they are pretty long. But…not weirdly so…not that her legs are weird! I mean…” she sighed as she felt herself getting flustered again.
She finally just grew silent. Agnes watched the young woman dressed as Weather Vixen and while she indeed thought she was beautiful, she really could not place her finger onto why, out of everyone in the comic shop, she picked her as being attractive. Yes, it was true that her complexion was pretty, but was that what Agnes was truly attracted her? After all, both Rhythm and Jasmine were lighter skinned. But for whatever reason, at this moment, Agnes found the young woman dressed as Weather Vixen to be the one that snagged her attention.
But was it really out of attention or was it more out of just picking someone to appease Rebecca’s curiosity? After all, Agnes was still uncomfortable about this whole game.
And, unfortunately, Rebecca seemed to want to continue.
>> "Hmm... see, Ah dornt think she daes it fer me."
Agnes did have to commend Rebecca though. She was really taking an active role in trying to figure out this new chapter of her life. It was obvious that she never had feelings like this before, and she had admitted such, so she was still trying to learn what worked for her. Agnes had no fear that Rebecca was going to be leaving her, but it was still just a little awkward hearing her talk through the logistics about what she found and didn’t find attractive.
>> "Wha dae ye think of her? Ah mean, she's curvy. Maybe tha's nice?"
The runaway turned where Rebecca had pointed. Another one of her co-workers, this one was dressed as Power Thief. Agnes had to admit that she was pretty looking, and rather curvy. The curves were definitely an attractive feature. Rebecca had some curves, even if she did complain that she was lacking in “some” areas. Agnes had to admit, though, that it was an attractive feature, one that tended to grab her attention in most normal circumstances of seeing if someone was attractive.
Another shrug and she smiled a little shyly at Rebecca. “Curves are nice. Not…you know, obscenely so, but…just enough…” she responded and sighed, which instantly made her cheeks blush. Finally she turned to her girlfriend earnestly. “You know…sometimes you cannot really just…logically pick your type. Sometimes…it just happens, when you least expect it. I should know…” she mumbled shyly and turned her attention back to the rest of the people who paraded through the comic store. She really hoped that Rebecca figured out exactly what she was looking for…

>> “Curves are nice. Not…you know, obscenely so, but…just enough… You know…sometimes you cannot really just…logically pick your type. Sometimes…it just happens, when you least expect it. I should know…”
Rebecca sighed; it was finally apparent to her that her girlfriend was not incredibly comfortable with looking at women in scantily-clad costumes and assessing them-- at least not as a group activity. It was a shame, too-- Lexi was getting out of the back room as Ascendant Woman and Rebecca wanted to know if anything about her caught Agnes's eye. "Yeah, Ah understand. Especially fer me, maybe Ah jist dornt have a set type."
Since Rebecca had no issues with Agnes looking around at other girls, it was then that she realized she might have taken the opposite for granted. She leaned over the counter to speak softly to her girlfriend. "Ah hope ye arenae worried or anything... Ah mean, jist coz Ah might like Miley's curves or Lexi's, er, assets..." she felt her word-choice was more delicate than saying "large chest." "Ah find ye cuter than any other girl." She grinned with a wink, and added, ""Yoo're my sexy little sylph." When you date a girl like Agnes and write poetry, you come across plenty of words for "a slender, beautiful woman."
What Rebecca failed to remember was how... familiar Lexi was as a coworker. The blonde was a fan of teasing and embarrassing the shy Scot, and with Rebecca's position of leaning across a counter, she left herself open for a blue gloved-hand to smack her on the bottom.
Rebecca jumped, as one might expect. "Lexi!"
Lexi laughed and rolled her eyes to counter the glare of her co-worker. "Yeah, yeah, sorry." She looked to the girl Rebecca was talking with, very aware that she was not like most of the shop's clientele. "Is this that girly-friend you keep yammering about?" She leaned in to the mortified Scot and whispered, "She's cute."
Rebecca found herself at a loss for most words, as Lexi's forwardness constantly caught her off guard. "Y-yes. Agnes, Lexi; Lexi, Agnes."
The over-the-top blonde extended a hand in greeting. "Nice to meet you, Agnes! Sorry my rare loss cost your girlfriend her Saturday."
>> "Yeah, Ah understand. Especially fer me, maybe Ah jist dornt have a set type."
Agnes nodded as she sighed and just tried to make it through this conversation. She really did not want to make Rebecca feel like she did not want to cooperate. After all, she had promised her that she was going to be there for her during this tough time. And this was indeed going to be a tough time for Rebecca. She had a lot of figure out on her own. Unfortunately, as much as Agnes wanted to help, she really was not the best choice in helping her find answers. She cared for Rebecca deeply but that did not mean she knew how to read what the girl’s interest in others was.
Still blushing as she tried to look away from the rest of the scantily clad women, Agnes guessed that her girlfriend must have picked up on her feelings. Leaning in close, Rebecca whispered in a very soothing manner.
>> “Ah hope ye arenae worried or anything... Ah mean, jist coz Ah might like Miley's curves or Lexi's, er, assets...Ah find ye cuter than any other girl…Yoo're my sexy little sylph."
Agnes bowed her head but smiled a little shyly. She was thankful for Rebecca’s assurances. Deep down, she really did not believe that Rebecca would just leave her for someone else, not after everything that they had gone through together in the past months. But there was still that twinge of anxiety. A lot of girl’s were prettier than her, Agnes knew that. She really was not anything special.
But, nonetheless, it was nice to hear such words from someone she held so close to her heart.
Unfortunately, before they could get too lovey-dovey, their moment was rudely interrupted when a certain individual decided to take advantage of Rebecca’s exposed posterior.
SMAACK!
Agnes blinked and straightened up as she turned to look at the interloper. At first she did not recognize her…maybe that was because she only caught a scarce glance at her face. Unfortunately the woman had certain…assets that tended to draw the eye. Not that she found features like that particularly attractive, it was simply, well, they were really hard to miss. Seriously, it was as if they had their own gravitational pull and Agnes had to force herself to make eye-to-eye contact with the woman who had accosted her sweet Rebecca.
>> "Lexi!"
>> "Yeah, yeah, sorry…Is this that girly-friend you keep yammering about?"
Judging by the costume, Agnes could only assume that she had to be another of Rebecca’s co-workers. This one was obviously more boisterous than the others. Agnes was really unsure how she felt about that but he expression show nothing of the scrutinizing that she was in the middle of mentally partaking of. Instead her features were blank as a canvas, as if she were any other stranger just meeting another for the first time.
Though her eyebrow did arch a little…
>> "Y-yes. Agnes, Lexi; Lexi, Agnes."
One look at Rebecca and it was obvious that she was mortified by the actions that the young woman had taken upon her. Her poor sweetie. But…it was still rather funny, looking at her expression. Agnes cracked a smile, a smile of subterfuge as she continued analyzing the woman whose name she now knew to be Lexi.
>> "Nice to meet you, Agnes! Sorry my rare loss cost your girlfriend her Saturday."
Agnes smiled sweetly back as she reached out and squeeze Lexi’s hand, shaking it firmly. Her iridescent wings fluttered quickly before settling back down against her back. Was that out of nervousness or a warning? The soft features of Agnes’ face did not give that thought away. Instead she merely continue to smile.
“Nice to meet you as well. And that’s okay,” Agnes said with a nod and released Lexi’s hand. “We can’t win all the time. Besides it gives me an excuse to come down and see her in costume.” Agnes said as she beamed over to Rebecca.

Lexi caught sight of Agnes's wings fluttering and paused for a moment. "Woah... wicked." She cocked her head to the side to look over her coworker. "Man, you mutants are so cool." It was after some time that Rebecca told her coworkers that she was a mutant herself, realizing that the type of people she worked with had no qualms with mutants.
>> “Nice to meet you as well. And that’s okay. We can’t win all the time."
Lexi chuckled. "Yeah, but I'm a pretty sore loser. I'll be getting Akshay back next time I see him." The mischievous glint in Lexi's eye sent a shiver down Rebecca's spine. Well, whatever it was the crazy girl did, Akshay deserved it, she assured herself with a nod.
"Besides it gives me an excuse to come down and see her in costume.”
With the focus back on poor, sweet Rebecca, Lexi grinned, wrapping an arm over the Scot's shoulders. "Yeah, you've got quite the cute girly here. When she started here, she used to be so shy! Look at her now: the sexiest little Spectacular Girl I've ever seen."
Rebecca rolled her eyes, hoping Agnes was not taking the jokes too seriously. "Yeah, yeah. Behave, Lex."
The goofy little vixen winked. "Oh, you don't want to see me when I'm misbehaving." Despite her comment, Lexi respected her friend's wishes and withdrew her arm. "I'll be good. I should get to work-- you're not the only eye candy who can peddle comics."
Lexi placed two hands on the counter and jumped over it. Rebecca shook her head, knowing she could have just as easily used the door a few feet away. The Ascendant Woman wannabe, without warning, wrapped her arms around Agnes for a hug. "Be sure to treat our Becks right, Agnes."
The girl released the unsuspecting mutant and walked toward her customer/prey, speaking over her shoulder. "If you don't, I could always use a shy little plaything."
Rebecca could feel her face glowing red from the last comment. "Dornt mind her... Lexi is, well, sorta obnoxious. Bit she's nice, an' she's harmless." She thought over the last comment, and wrapped her arms around her bare waist. "Well, Ah'm pretty sure she's harmless." She was not completely sure whether she found Lexi attractive, but she was too scared of her for it to matter.
There needed to be a topic change, preferably post haste. Thankfully, there was an important piece of news to share anyway! "Oh! Ah almost forgot-- Ah called my ma, and told her... well, about you." That was big news; certainly big enough to make Agnes forget about the flirty, touchy blonde.
>> "Yeah, you've got quite the cute girly here. When she started here, she used to be so shy! Look at her now: the sexiest little Spectacular Girl I've ever seen."
Agnes smiled a little shyly. The truth of the matter was that she was a little conflicted right now. She whole heartedly agreed, Rebecca did look rather…sexy in her cosplay costume. But, honestly, it was a statement that she really did not want to hear from someone else. Agnes did have a bit of jealousy about her, but it was not to some crazed level. But, after everything that had happened just to bring the two of them together, yeah, like hell would she easily give a pretty, smart, and sweet girl like Rebecca up.
>> "Yeah, yeah. Behave, Lex."
>> “Oh, you don't want to see me when I'm misbehaving. I'll be good. I should get to work-- you're not the only eye candy who can peddle comics."
“Again, nice to meet you,” Agnes said as she watched the woman suddenly leap over the counter.
Agnes just marveled at the girl. Not in lust or in irritation, but simply watched the woman with a confused air. She really did seem over the top, to the point that Agnes really did not know how to react around her. Was she just kidding, or was she someone that the runaway needed to keep an eye on? Not that Agnes figured that Rebecca would leave her for this young woman. No, she didn’t think that for a second. But it was always better to be safe than sorry.
But the runaway betrayed none of these feelings. Instead she still smiled, she still watched, and she kept a close eye on her.
Funny, considering that she wanted to keep a close look on her, she should have seen the hug coming a mile away. Unfortunately Agnes was caught far too off guard to be able to. Suddenly she squeaked as strong arms wrapped around her and the runaway was caught in a hug. Wide eyed, she really didn’t know how to respond except over than to remain completely and utterly still. After a second, apparently that worked because Lexi released her.
>> "Be sure to treat our Becks right, Agnes. If you don't, I could always use a shy little plaything."
Mouth gapped, Agnes watched as the woman sauntered away to help one of the customers. OH how she would have loved to simply roll up her sleeves and go after the woman. But she really was still confused as to whether that comment was serious or not. The woman did seemed to be rather obnoxious but not to a level that required a beat down. She was simply being…eccentric. Still though, that was rather inappropriate and it caused the young insect queen to narrow her eyes…
>> . "Dornt mind her... Lexi is, well, sorta obnoxious. Bit she's nice, an' she's harmless…Well, Ah'm pretty sure she's harmless."
Agnes sighed. “She better be,” she responded with a small huff. But, she was not going to let this Lexi steal her time away with her girl. She came here to support her and to see her so the least she deserved was her undivided attention.
>> "Oh! Ah almost forgot-- Ah called my ma, and told her... well, about you."
Bliiiiiink! What? Agnes was at a loss as to what to say to that. Rebecca had spoken to her mother and just revealed her relationship to her? Agnes would have thought that the young Scot would have given her some warning or a head’s up at least, but apparently she was just wanted to dive in and get it taken care of. Agnes really didn’t know how to wrap her mind around that. She felt like she should have been there when Rebecca did it, just for support. But it seemed like her sweet girlfriend was able to handle it just fine.
A little fearful as to the outcome, she watched Rebecca carefully.
“H-How did it go?” she cautioned to ask. “Everything…you know…okay?”

>> “She better be.”
Somehow Rebecca realized that Agnes did not see Lexi in a good light, due in no small part to the girl's disregard for typical social etiquette. Even with experience, Rebecca still had a hard time handling the bizarre personality wrapped in a blonde bombshell living in a mountain of old comic books. The flirting always perplexed her, because Rebecca had no idea if Lexi was straight or gay or somewhere in between; maybe she just like to play with anything with lips and a pulse.
>> “H-How did it go? Everything…you know…okay?”
The tactic was a success, thought battle admiral Rebecca. She made sure to smile reassuringly, not trying to combat jealousy with anxiety. "Well, Ah was nervoos at first. Ma figured something was wrong coz, well, Ah was crying." Looking back, Rebecca was a mess that day, barely getting words out. "Ah was sae surprised, but ma was fine wi' it. Sh' even had words wi' my pa an' he's... well, he's taking it slow, but he still loves me."
This was the easy piece of news to share, since it was the story of things turning better than expected. Now for the information Agnes was not expecting. "They even... they said they missed me. They want me tae visit over th' summer..." There was a deep breath to fuel the punchline.
"An' they want me tae take ye with me tae meet them."
Hopefully this was not too shocking for Agnes; they were only a month or so into their relationship after all. Was it too sudden to be meeting the parents? There was some time until the summer, so hopefully by then, it would not be. Would Agnes want to meet parents knowing how hers treated her? Rebecca waited with bated breath.

Agnes smiled, happily. Ever since she had Rebecca had first decided to start this relationship, she had been curious as to how that conversation would go. After all, this was all new for Rebecca, and therefore had to be new for her parents. She wondered how things were going to go when they were finally told that their daughter was dating another young woman.
But from the looks on Rebecca’s face, it seemed as if everything was going extremely well. Her mother was fine with it, her dad was going to come around and no matter what, he still loved his little girl. Agnes was so happy to hear this from her sweet girlfriend, but she could not help the tiniest pang of jealousy that had resided in her heart. That was a feeling and a conversation that she would never experience with her own parents. People who were supposed to protect her, to make her feel loved, and appreciated, had instead dedicated their lives to trying to end her for being different.
Rebecca would always have the experiences of a loving family to carry with her for the rest of her life. For Agnes, it was only the fear of God, fire and brimstone that she would always remember.
Still though, she smiled for Rebecca. She leaned over, patted her arm softly and gently in appreciation of her.
“That is so good. I’m happy to hear it went well.”

Agnes nodded. She had been anticipating that. After all, Rebecca was over here in the states so that she could be in school and learn to use her powers. It was inevitable that her parents would want to see her again. It would hurt, to be away from Rebecca for so long, but Agnes knew that it was necessary. She would put on a brave face to—

Bliiiiiiiink. Wha?
Dumbfounded, Agnes simply stood there as she watched Rebecca with a confused expression. She really did not just hear her correctly, right? Why on earth would her parents want to actually meet her? It was not like Agnes was anything special (just the girl that is dating their teenage daughter!). The more she thought about it, the more it made sense that they would indeed actually meet her. After all, they were good and caring parents. Of course they would want to get to know, or interrogate, the young woman that was dating their child.
But the thought of going through this immediately made the young runaway a little nervous. She had never met Rhythm’s parents, Jasmine’s already knew that she was a lesbian, but Rebecca’s parents were going to be an entirely different ballgame.
Shyly the runaway averted her gaze, unsure of really how to proceed with this. Was she really being invited to go to Scotland? To meet her girlfriend’s parents for the first time? The whole proposition was utterly terrifying.
Agnes, meekly, turned her eyes back onto Rebecca and struggled to find her voice.
“W-Wow….r-r-really? I mean…wow….” she managed to stammer. “I…I don’t know, Rebecca. I mean…I…what if…they don’t like me?”

Rebecca was not sure whether it was Agnes's bad experience with parental figures or the reaction of a significant other meeting the judge, jury, and executioner, but Agnes was clearly hesitant about the proposed trans-continental trip. It was clearly Rebecca's job as a good girlfriend to reassure her.
Rebecca held up a finger to her girlfriend, signaling for her to wait a moment. She called out to Lily, wearing her Venus Flytrap costume. Lily was starting to catch her eye too; maybe thin, fair-skinned girls were her thing. (It would fit with Agnes.) For a budding lesbian, her tastes were varied: slender and delicate, or hippy and busty. "Lil-- we, Venus, can you take the register off my hands for five minutes?"
Lily, realizing who Agnes was, nodded and the girls swapped places. Rebecca took her girlfriend by the hand and led her out to the sidewalk for some air and some privacy. "Ah dornt want ye worrying 'bout my parents. Mah ma's totally harmless, and my Pa... well, mah Ma is harmless." It was a joke, but to a worried girlfriend, it might have fallen on unwelcome ears.
She sat down at the bench outside the store, pulling Agnes down with her. She rested her blonde-wigged head on Agnes's shoulder. "Ye treat me better than a princess. They'll love ye." She pictured her stern British father's weathered face. "Pa might scare ye." She moved her head up to kiss Agnes's cheek.
"They'll be nice coz they'll knoo Ah care aboot ye, so dornt worry so much." Rebecca rested a hand on Agnes's lap. "It'd make me happy to take th' best part of America back with me tae Scootland."
