The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Isabel continued casually on her way down the street, doing her very best not to squish the cat too far up against the brick buildings since it had taken up pace beside her. She wasn't one to let the crowd push her around so easily in directions that she didn't want to go, not that she was being overly forceful with any of them, either. Simply standing your ground as you passed them seemed to work well enough, though it may be the cause of a bruised shoulder later on down the road. At the moment, Isabel didn't feel like being a stubborn little troublemaker to those traveling down the crowded sidewalks. She just wasn't in the mood for it. Instead she was feeling fairly mellow and content, the prospect of returning to her home helping to lift her spirits. For that's what the Sanctuary was to her now; home. It was the only place she'd resided in for any length of time within a period of at least three years, ever since she'd turned fourteen and left the orphanage that her parents had dumped her in. And to add to the feeling of home were the friends she'd made there. It would be good to see them again, she'd missed their company.
Tilting her shoulder back slightly to better avoid a man walking past her, she let her gaze roam for a little bit, gaining her bearings and watching her surroundings passively, though she wasn't stopping suddenly as some people did, nor was she carelessly walking in whatever direction she pleased. She'd gotten fairly good at staying on path while looking around or falling into her thoughts. It came in handy sometimes for a person who tended to drop off into little daydreams like she did. She knew exactly where she was and what path she should take to get to the Sanctuary, which shouldn't be too far off now.
Ah, there it is. It's kind of hard to miss a place with doors like the Sanctuary had. No way to use the old 'I couldn't find the address' excuse with this place. "It's just a little ways off now, kitten. We should be there in no time," she said, only making a brief glance down at the feline as she addressed it yet again. "You should be able to see the outside entrance soon. The Sanctuary's got a huge pair of golden doors set into it. I'll admit that it's a little odd or conspicuous for a place that houses mutants, since so many people dislike them or are afraid of them. But somehow, it just seems to fit right into place."
((Looks fine to me and it all makes perfect sense. I'm pretty sure you're allowed to do that. Other people have done it, so there shouldn't be any objections. ^^))
I’m just a well-adjusted gal who likes to leave a serious amount of mayhem in her wake.

“Just a little ways off” doesn’t help a guy who’s four to five feet shorter than everyone around him. A New York cat can’t expect to see his destination until he’s right on top of it. That really blew my mind for the first month. After that, I just developed a very good sense of direction. I’ve got a map of this city tucked up in my head, alleyways and overhangs marked out in red. Overhangs are wonderful—a quick leap, and suddenly you can go anywhere you want with immunity from the trampling feet below. They make a good napping spot, too, if you don’t mind pigeons. Pigeons: not the smartest birds. Tasty, plump, and prolific, though. I’ve come to appreciate their simple, succulent beauty.
Conspicuous doesn’t even begin to cover those famed golden doors. I’ve walked past them a time or too—everyone in New York has. It’s just something you have to do. It’s not everyday that someone puts golden doors on a glorified homeless shelter. A glorified homeless shelter that apparently houses murderous mutants. Nervous? Me? Never. Self-preservation senses tingling? Maybe.
Ah, the doors themselves. I see our destination when we’re five feet away. They’re just as glittery as ever. How they keep those things graffiti-clean is beyond me. Maybe they sic their raptor boy on anyone who lifts a can of spray paint anywhere near ‘em. I stare at their shiny shininess. A gold and black cat with all of his spots reversed stares back. My ears go flat. We meet again, Monsieur Reflection. Good day—I’ve more important business to attend to. Don’t think for a second that I’ve forgotten your Trap of the Easily Broken Mirror, however. I will deal with you later, Monsieur.
My Isabel is pushing open the doors. I raise my tail to full mast, and stalk inside ahead of her like I own the place.
