Chandra walked into the park. She was taking the time to enjoy her extended trip to the United States. The weather was pleasant, and quite to her liking, especially when she was nestled inside a trench coat that reached to her ankles. Though the coat does more than break the wind and keep her warm, it served to easily conceal a weapon she carries for safety, especially when she has told those who normally accompany her to stay home. There were times, espcially in this era, that even the daintiest of women could walk alone.
She was not concerned, at least not yet, as she walked through the park. Outside of the cement path she strode upon, the park ever so vaguely reminded her of home. Her true home, some seven hundred years previous. She walked in a daze of memories, most originating from before she was married off, a time she considered much simpler. She found a park bench and parked herself on it and pulled out a cheesy romance novel. She opened it up and let her eyes roll over the text on the page, not really reading, but certainly looking at the pages. She flipped them as she let her mind wander again, really only paying attention to the ambient light around, knowing she should be well on her way 'home' before darkness fell completely. She had grown out of her naiveté long ago, and still realized that darkness meant an increase in danger.
But for now, in the late afternoon, she was content to 'read' and enjoy the feel of the park. She decided she would have to visit other portions of New York over the next coming weeks.
