The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Agnes smirked a little as Rebecca stood up and removed the bathrobe from under her rear. She averted her eyes again as she held the robe out for her. Quickly Agnes waved her hands in front of Rebecca’s face just to double check that she had indeed covered her vision. Once she was sure, Agnes removed the blanket from her armored body and stood up. Gently she took the robe back and slipped it on, over her shoulders, fastened the belt tightly so that nothing could be seen.
When all of that was secure, she grinned when Rebecca still had her eyes covered. Gently she reached over to pat her shoulder to show that she was indeed decent again.
>> “Sae dae ye 'ave other forms too? Ah feel like Ah dornt know enough aboot yer mutation!"
Agnes knew that feeling all too well. Just when she thought she had her own powers figured, suddenly she was thrown out of whack thanks to the wings, and then the carapace, and then…
“One more,” Agnes replied truthfully. “Trust me…it’s my least comfortable and I hate shifting into it. But…it’s part of the cycle. Can’t get to my wings without having to go through it,” she simply shrugged.
Running her fingers through her hair, Agnes twitched when she felt the piece of cocoon still stuck to it. Distastefully she pulled it out and tossed it onto the cheap blanket on her bed. This was always so messy that she wished she never had to go through it. Unfortunately this was the cross that she could have to bear at the moment. Maybe she could learn to stop and control the molting so she was not forced to go through it? But the likely hood of that vanished every passing day.
For now…it was simply another thing to live with.
“Umm…I…I need to take a shower.” Agnes said as she had her hands stuffed into the pockets of her robe. But standing there, she still could not believe that Rebecca had stayed the whole time. Rebecca truly was one of her best friends. “Rebecca, a-again…t-thank you…for staying with me. I…It means a lot…to me…”

>> “One more. Trust me…it’s my least comfortable and I hate shifting into it. But…it’s part of the cycle. Can’t get to my wings without having to go through it."
So there were three forms; Rebecca did not know what the third one was, but based on Agnes's desire to make an expedient return to her wings, she imagined it was about as flattering as her shell. "Oh dear. If ye need someain tae stay wi' ye fer the next change, Ah'm jist a call away." A green husk isnae gonna scare me away.

It meant a lot to me. Well, did that not just make everything worth it? "Ah totally understand." Before she could overthink it, she hugged Agnes, which was now more like hugging Gina if the gargoyle's skin was a bit harder. "Tha's sae different!" The shock of the transformation had passed, and Rebecca was just fascinated at how complete the change was.
"Bye! Enjoy yer shower!" Rebecca gathered her belongings and left the room, closing the door behind her. The moment the mechanism clicked and the door was indeed closed, Rebecca pressed her back against the wall and slid down until she was sitting on her bottom.
Was this whole day even real? Shelled Agnes? Crazed honey kisses?
She left Agnes a love poem! What even compelled her to do that?! There was no taking it back now; eventually Agnes would find it next time she looked up a new plant. (Hopefully not alongside her flower-named girlfriend.)
She could not just continue without knowing the difference between feelings and infatuation. She had to resolve things soon, for the sake of her friendship and her sanity. With new determination, Rebecca rose to her feet and returned to her room.
Agnes smiled appreciatively. She really did not want to end her time with Rebecca so quickly but Agnes knew that if she did not get this stuff off her it would be all the harder to get it off later. On top of that, as much as Agnes wanted to spend time with the redhead…she also knew that it probably was not the best thing right now. After what she had done in the kitchen yesterday, after she had…kissed Rebecca over and over again, all she needed was time. Her mind was a hot bed of confusion and she needed to sort things out.
But just as Agnes was about to wave goodbye to the pretty Scot, suddenly she had stepped forward and hugged her tight. Agnes was momentarily stunned but soon found herself hugging Rebecca just as affectionately. It felt weird to be honest. She still was not used to her diminished sense of feeling with this carapace on but for whatever reason the sensation of hugging Rebecca struck a chord deep inside of her.
Even through all the armored exoskeleton…she could still feel that tingling in her skin. She closed her eyes tightly and tried to will the feelings that stirred in the stomach away. There was no way that she could do this anymore, she cared about Jasmine too much to hurt her. But as much as she knew that, then why couldn’t she pry herself away from Rebecca?
>> "Tha's sae different!"
Agnes smiled a little meekly as she finally unwrapped her arms from Rebecca and stepped back. Shyly she had stuffed her hands into her pockets while she nodded her head.
“Y-Yeah…very different…” she whispered. “Thank you, again.” she said with a soft smile.
Around her Rebecca walked and made her way towards the door. It was obvious that the strawberry blonde knew that it was time for her to make her exit. Agnes was thankful for that. She was sure that if Rebecca wanted to stay that she probably would have allowed her to do so. The confusion was just so thoroughly engrained that Agnes simply did not know what to do anymore. A long hot shower…that was what she need most right now. A change to wash away the residue and maybe even clear her head a bit.
>> "Bye! Enjoy yer shower!"
“I will,” Agnes grinned as she watched Rebecca leave and close the door behind her.
Softly she walked up, momentarily pausing in front of the door. She didn’t know why she did that. It was not like she was going to open it or something. After all of her confusion she was not going to go chase Rebecca down and make her return to the room. Just, for some reason, Agnes just needed to stand there, almost wondering if maybe, just maybe, if she opened the door she would find Rebecca waiting there. But Agnes didn’t open the door. Instead she took a calming breath as she tried to not let the events of the last twenty-four hours get the best of her. It would all wash away in the shower. It had to.
Moving back across the room, Agnes made her way into the bathroom to start her shower. Maybe she would distract herself with some homework when she was done. She still had plenty of work in Botany to do…
