The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Wandering through the zoo in the afternoon, a hooded, small figure is sitting in a corner of the reptile house. The figure has been there for quite some time, motionless. With all the hissing that goes on in that place anyway, no-one noiteced the added hissing that came from under the hood. People skirted around the figure, afraid of tramps or drunks, but the figure was neither.
"<.... what do you want from me...?>" The figure said finally, getting up and standing, a hand pressed against the glass. "<Sssstop talking to me!>"
*tricity took the children along the paths around the zoo when they came to the snake house.* ok, guys stick together please!! *she yelled as the group of 15 rushed in to get a closer look.*
Gorgon, who was quite content to just stay in her own little world talkin to the snakes, is jostled as some of the new arrivals try to get a look at the large python.
She hisses angrly, shoving back. She's only 4' 6", so she's shorter than or on level with many of the children. "Show ssssome resssssspect!" She snaps angrily.
Cassiel stuck toward the back of the group, making sure that none of the younger students ran off or started any trouble. He felt rather exposed, out in public with an obvious crowd of other mutants, but he'd volunteered to help out with the younger students so that he could get used to that.
He narrowed his eyes as they walked on. Something felt... odd. He couldn't focus on it yet with all this distraction, but something was off...
*tricity walked inside of the much darker caves as janie grabbed her hand.* janie: "i dont like reptiles ms. tipper." ok sweetie, you wanna get on my back? janie: "yes please!!" *tricity bent down and the little girl crawled on her back, wrapping her arms tightly around her neck.* alright, just a few more minutes...HEY GUYS!! be polite to the other people in here! move back a bit please!
Mike caught the very distinct flashes of anger, the almost animalistic reactions, coming from Gorgon, though he couldn't see her yet. Still, her emotions made her very easy to hone in on and locate.
Looking around nervously, he reached out to Tricity with his mind. "Ah, Ms. Tipper? I think there's going to be some trouble, right over there near the glass. I don't want to scare the kids, but... something's not right."
Mike strained to see over the crowd, then looked around to make sure no one was looking before floating up in the air a few feet to get a better look.
"Short hooded guy up near the glass. I don't know what his deal, is, but he's getting really, really irritated with the kids jostling him. He doesn't LOOK threatening by his size, but... there's something very, very off about his mind. I don't like it."
*tricity put janie down and told her to go hold mike's hand for now. she moved to the front of the crowd and began pulling the kids back a bit and separating them from the front of the glass.* come on guys, we need to get going now...
Mike patted Janie comfortingly on the back, keeping his eye on Tricity. His eyes glowed faintly as he kept a lock on the minds of the younger students, making sure to brush away any resistance they might be feeling to Tricity.
As they filed away, he focused on the small figure in front of the glass, trying to slowly pick away the irritation she was feeling.
*she touched the stranger on the shoulder.* i'm sorry...they get excited when we go out on school trips. are you alright?? *tricity asked, trying to make the person face her. but suddenly she noticed a faint hissing that seemed to be coming from outside the glass.*
Gorgon tries to shrink away from the touch, not liking crowds, and not liking this one in particular, as it's rude, and her hair gets nervous and then won't stop talking to her.
Mike's eyes went wide as he saw the sudden transformation. "Janie, back. Get back in that corner and hide, you'll be all right, I promise." Tucking the girl behind a garbage can, and keeping part of his mind watching her, Mike ran forward. This was no time for subtlety. Catching the small figure in a telekinetic hold, he held her in place and flooded her mind with a calm, peaceful feeling.
