The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

As Lori leaned in a bit more, Alex started to hyperventilate and his heart started to pound within his chest. Was she about to kiss him?! Alex was getting ready to push her away when he saw her drop her head onto his chest and the sound of intense giggling filled the entire store. Confused, Alex looked down at Lori when she said that he needed to get out more, and then when she commented that she wasn't going to bite, it all finally clicked within Alex's head. "Wait... you did all of that for laughs?!?" Alex exclaimed in surprise with a hint of anger in his voice. He was now thinking clearly and ran the entire scene that had happened between the two of them, and felt like kicking himself down the street for not catching on that it was all a joke... on him!
Before he could demand why she did that, the woman had grabbed his arm again and pulled him back out onto the street when the shop keeper came back into the store. When they were back out on the street, the woman had asked Alex if he had grown up in a monastery, and Alex only responded with an unamused glare. It took him a whole minute to finally answer. "No, I didn't. The real reason is none of your business." Alex stated, clearly fuming. The real reason why he didn't know what do to when she had started to flirt with him was because of his developmental disorder. It affected his communication skills, and made it impossible for him to pick of those tiny flirting signals. As a result, his experience with anyone of the opposite gender was an absolute zero.
In order to make sure that she didn't use her mind ability to find out the real reason or to have anymore fun with him, Alex started to focus his mind to prevent anyone from invading his thoughts. His mother had taught him how to do it after he had a bad run in with a mutant that had the ability to read a person's mind and show their memories to other people. His memories and his mind was his own, and hie didn't want this woman to invade his thoughts in an attempt to get the answer to her question.
He was angry and rightfully so. Unfortunately for Rook, Lori was quite used to people being angry or even belligerent toward her. He could do worse than silently fume. The fact that all that he did was stew on it meant that he was far more passive than she liked.
Still, Lori smiled all the same as she held onto his arm and they walked down the crowded market street. He said it was none of her business. She shrugged.
"Fair enough, but if you don't start thinking of women as regular people in situations charged with sexual tension, you're going to get yourself into trouble one of these days." The hidden subtext being that Lori had not (yet) taken advantage of him. Her predatory instincts were buzzing, though. He was one of the types she would have cleaned out if they had met only a few short years ago.
Also, he could focus his mind all he wanted. Lori didn't care enough to invade Rook's head. It wasn't her problem that he got all jumpy around girls. It was just plain old funny.
"Well, we seem to be reaching the end of this adventure." There were only a few stalls left now before they exited the market street and these were so well established that they were more like full blown stores. It was mostly touristy crap Lori didn't care for. "You ever need help with your lady problems, be sure to look me up." Or not. Lori hefted her purse onto her shoulder.
Alex hadn't glanced down at the arm that was holding his own since they left the shop, mainly because he was a little bit too mad and annoyed to be freaked out by the fact that a beautiful woman had nearly kissed him a few moments ago. Sure, she was smiling, but that was only because she had found it funny. He didn't. No one likes being had. After he had told her that the reason why he was having trouble flirting was none of her business, she seemed to acknowledge his statement but also told him to be careful because there were people that would take advantage of him if he was in that state of panic. Hearing that, Alex stopped walking and glanced at her as some of his anger faded. If she was implying that she hadn't taken advantage of him, then Alex had understood.
"Yeah, yeah. I know women are people... but I don't understand them." Alex stated, then smiled slightly. "Then again, I haven't met a single guy that did know." Alex stated with a hint of humor, then returned to walking towards the larger section of the market.
Once they had arrived and the woman said that it was time for them to part ways, Alex nodded and fingered the bag of dragon fruit in his right hand. "Yeah. Well, take care." Alex stated, then started to turn around when she had said that he should look her up if he ever needed help with his lady problem. That comment had made him blush again. "You did that on purpose... but alright I'll keep you in mind." Alex stated, then realized that he didn't have a clue as to how would get a hold of her. He didn't even know her. "Uh... how?"
Oh. So he did notice? Lori had already taken a few steps away by the time Rook asked how he might find her again. Lori dug around in her purse until she came up with her wallet. She passed up the Faust Pharmaceutical business cards in favor of the Sanctuary cards.
The business card was simple and white with gold foil letters pressed into the front of the card.
SANCTUARY
On the back was an address and a phone number.
"The secretary's name is Lisa. She can find me." Lori grinned and walked off to grab a cab.
When Alex had asked her how he could find the woman again, he watched her did through her purse and then her wallet for a small business card that said the word 'Sanctuary' along one side, and it had an address and a phone number on the back. This was Alex's first time in New York City and what ever this place was apparently wasn't news worthy enough for info on the place to make it to Kansas, so he didn't have a clue as to what the Sanctuary was. However, he guessed he could find out by simply making a trip to a library and simply putting the address into a search program.
"Thank you. Take Care." Alex stated with a nod, then turned around and walked away. As he did so, he pulled one of the dragon fruits out of his bag, stepped into an alley way, and used his malachite dagger to cut the fruit open. Then, after shrinking the dagger down and forming it into a spoon, he carefully scooped out a spoonful of the soft white fruit that was dotted with several black edible seeds, and stuck it into his mouth, and he quickly smiled. It was delicious!
