The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I'm in no state to finish him, and you're in no mind too. We'll leave him, let's just leave."
Iris snorted. She wasn't going to argue, but she remained firmly convinced that this situation would only cause more issues in the future, not help. But it was too late to bother with now.
"Cover your ears," she muttered quietly. She closed her eyes, concentrating. A shrill screech, nearly too high to hear, blasted through the room. Anyone still conscious began to scream and writhe in pain, if they were able. She held the screech for a full thirty seconds, long enough to knock a few unconscious. A residual ringing echoed off of the walls. While those still awake were distracted, Iris helped Hunter to his feet, and out the door.
She paused near the doorway, then turned. The horned mutant was still encased in her ice dome. "Hang on. Let me get him, too."
Even though she didn't know the part this man had played, she didn't going to leave him to whoever responded to the distress call.
(OOC: The plan is to leave Seb behind, but I think I can still have him caputred by the fanatical Church splinter that will want revenge)
Hunter covered his ears as Paragon let out the shriek that would incapacitate anyone still capable to interfering. Greatful for the help he got shakily to his feet. As he made his way out his eyesight was still red, but his other senses were returning. He could smell that Sebastian was close by. Hunter had plans for him, plans he knew Paragon wouldn't approve of. Someone needed to take the fall for today, he was the perfect person.
"Paragon, leave him," he said as they made their way towards the exit, "He'll be fine. In a few minuted he'll be back on his feet again. Trust me, he still came after me after I had broken his neck. He wants to kill me as much as I want to kill him, if you bring him with us there will be a fight."

Hunter pulled her back. "Paragon, leave him."
"My name is Iris," she growled under her breath.
"He'll be fine. In a few minuted he'll be back on his feet again. Trust me, he still came after me after I had broken his neck. He wants to kill me as much as I want to kill him, if you bring him with us there will be a fight."
"You have a hard time making friends, don't you?" she snickered, then added, "I won't bring him, on one condition. Stop calling me Paragon. Honestly, where did you come up with that? It sounds like a math problem gone wrong."
She rolled her eyes, and continued out the door. The was obviously a mutant, what with the horn and all. And the still-living humans had just as obviously been healed by someone. She didn't think Hunter had that ability. So unless someone else was hiding nearby, she had no reason to disbelieve him.
The ice dome shrunk, then disappeared as they left.
"Fine," Hunter sighed, "Iris it is then." Still using Paragon for support he let her guide him out of the building. The day had gone worse than expected, and right now all he wanted to do was go home. "You'll have to drive," he said as they stepped outside.
His eyesight was returning slowly, everything was red and very blurred, but he could make out moving objects that he assumed were passing cars. Hopefully he'd have his sight back by the end of the day and be walking under his own power again by tomorrow. If that was the case he'd pack up the apartment and head back to the lab. His work here was done.

"Fine. Iris it is then. You'll have to drive."
Iris snickered, then cleared her throat. "Sorry!"
Unlike her other gems, she couldn't deactivate the clear gem. It had to run it's course, which meant that for another fifteen to twenty minutes, she would have no control, whatsoever, over her emotions.
No emotional control. In New York traffic. Yay....
"Um.... okay.... So, you can't see, right?"
The short ride back to the apartment wasn't exactly incident free. On the positive side, she didn't attract any attention from the police. On the not-so-positive side? She scared off the cab drivers. And a bus. And the car would need a new paint job eventually. And her vocabulary..... well, she wasn't one for cussing anyway, but being raised in a small mountain town, on a horse ranch, had given her access to some rather colorful insults. Insults that she gladly traded with the other drivers on the road, between increasingly frequent giggle fits.
Really, when she looked back on it later, she was really amazed that no cop attempted to pull them over.....
Ironically, the unstable jewel finally let up, just as they finally pulled up to the apartment. Iris sat with her eyes closed for a moment. When she finally spoke, her voice reflected her body's exhaustion.
"Hunter, you have no idea.... how much.... I hate you right now..... and the numbskull you got..... to make that.... that..... thing...."
The first thing she was going to do was collapse on the couch. She wasn't even going to bother to try and make it to her room. She was even too tired to hope that, maybe, she'd scared a few decades off of Mr. Immortal's life. At the moment, exhaustion trumped payback.
The car ride back was certainly interesting. While still unable to see, Hunter could hear what was going on just fine. He was just grateful not to hear sirens, as trying to explain to police why, despite the fact he had over a dozen gunshot wounds, they weren't taking him to a hospital would be difficult enough without trying to convince them Paragon whasn't on drugs.
By the time they reached the apartment he had enough vision back to make out the vague edges of objects. He could alsowalk under his own power, all be it shakily. Paragon beat him to the couch so he just slumped in the first chair he reached.
