The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Bedrooms where a place of refuge, a place where someone as able to kick their shoes off and act like themselves, for it was their own domain and no one could tell them how to act in their own domain. It also gave a person a chance to think about their day and to ponder what they were planning on doing next.
This is what Emerald Lupin as doing, laying splayed on her bed, staring up at the ceiling, her thoughts moving at about 90 miles per hour, or at least that was what it felt like for her. So many things were going through her mind she could barely keep her thoughts straight. The fact that she had been asked out on a date by a guy that as kind of cute as her biggest thought. It had been almost a year since she had been asked out, let alone treated to lunch by an attractive man. Part of her wondered if he was doing this on a whim, like he was curious about the whole werewolf thing.
Or maybe he really did like her, as strange as that sounded to her. She didn’t understand why anyone would really like her by just meeting her one time. Maybe it was because he didn’t know her well enough yet to truly see what she was like? Even so, he seemed to be quite enamored of her, something that confused the young wolf girl to know end. She would let out a big sigh, her tail flopping dully on the bed.
He did say she as beautiful.
This was something that just didn’t compute well in Emerald’s brain, she could see herself being viewed as strong, or amazon like something like that. Beautiful, as not something that was used in the vocabulary used to describe Emerald, so she really didn’t understand why he called her that. Part of her brain wanted to assume the worse and that he really didn’t think that, thinking that the boy as just planning on using her for inspiration or something. Another part of her brain thought about what Bloodfang did to her and made her tremble a little in fear.
UGH! No way, I don’t think this guy would do that. I got to stop thinking so negatively about this sort of thing. Emerald thought, shaking her head a little, shifting around in her comfortable sweatpants and t-shirt. Then again…it has been a while since I have been asked out and most guys don’t want to have anything to do with me. I wonder what makes him so different.
Just then the blue eyed werewolf heard a knock at the door, not even really caring she rolled over to the direction of her door.
“Come on in,” Emerald would call out, her door already unlocked. She stayed stationary on her bed though, flipping the boy’s card quietly in her hand.
Maybe her visitor could give her advice on what she should do.
Agnes felt bad. She knew that it had been awhile since she had gone to see her friend Emerald, but ever since her body changed due to her mutation evolving, she had not really wanted to leave her room. It was not that she was embarrassed about how she look, simply that she did not want to deal with people staring or having to give explanations. She had gone through changes and she had a tough enough time trying to contend with them. The last thing she needed was a bunch of attention on her for something that she had no control over.
But still, she could not let a lame excuse like that change her entire world. She still had friends she cared about and Emerald was one of them. If anything she owed the redheaded werewolf an explanation as to why she had become a sudden recluse.
Stalking down the halls that led to her friend’s room, she sighed as stuffed her hands into the pockets of her faded blue jeans. For a top she wore a cute Lady Bug shirt but thanks to Gina it had been altered to fit her new body. From the back of the shirt, two slits were made to allow for the pair of translucent fly wings to jut out and lay down against her back. The wings twitched nervously but at least they were not as spastic as they were when she first came out of the cocoon with them. They were a bit of a pain but nothing she could not contend with.
At least she had Gina. Gina was born with her wings and knew how to live her life with them. She was a great teacher to help Agnes live with them as well.
Upon arriving at Emerald’s door, Agnes sighed, held her breath, and gently knocked.
>> “Come on in,”
A small smile came across her lips as she gently turned the handle and pushed the door open. She knocked briefly again as she peeked into the room. She spotted Emerald on the bed and gave her a friendly, if a bit of a shy, smile.
“Hi, Emerald,” she said, keeping her wings flat against her back as she stepped in. “H-How are you?”
The scent of her Bug-nest friend was what hit her immediately. It was a distinctive scent from the other mutants around the mansion. A scent that helped Emerald identify just who had just walked into her door. The she-wolf would turn to her “pack mate” a soft smile on her face. The whole thing just seemed to be a friendly visit so she would keep up a friendly appearance as best as she could. Problem was she did still look a little bit troubled and it showed, her mind tending to wander elsewhere.
Emerald placed the card on her nightstand and would greet her friend with a small wave, tail flopping dully on the bed. She wondered if Agnes thought that she was mad at her or something of that nature. After all, Agnes hadn’t been around for a while and it wouldn’t be that surprising to Emerald if she managed to slip up again.
She really hoped she didn’t though, she sort of hated apologizing because that meant admitting she was wrong about something and god forbid that happened. The green sweatshirt, blue sweatpants clad werewolf sat up on the bed, her head tilted to the side ever so slightly to show her curiosity about this whole thing.
“I'm doing good, whazzup with you? I haven't seen ya in a bit,” Emerald mentioned, studying her friend carefully. She had yet to notice the fly wings and once she did, her eyes widened a little. It was a good thing she was sitting on her bed at an angle or she would have never been able to use that trick. “Besides the fact you are apparently a winged girl now. Hell, maybe I should try to grow a pair of wings, ha-ha, imagine that, a werewolf with wings.”
While Emerald was being kind and just joking in general, she was mighty curious about these brand new wings that were folded against Agnes’ back. It was possible the younger girl had gone through some kind of painful transformation to trigger that or maybe it was a trauma. None the less, it would seem something had happened since the last time she talked and being the Alpha, she did want to know.
That and maybe that was a good way to avoid her own problems, the card the young man gave her glaring at her ominously from her nightstand. Then again, it may be best to get some sort of advice…but what sort of Alpha gets advice about the pros and cons of hunting for mates?
>> “I'm doing good, whazzup with you? I haven't seen ya in a bit,”
Agnes blushed a little at the comment. She felt embarrassed that she had avoided Emerald as long as she did. She really did care about Emerald and she knew how sensitive the she-wolf could be due to Agnes’ actions. She had promised her that she was not going anywhere and that point was not helped with her disappearance from the werewolf’s life for that short amount of time.
Unfortunately, it was a lot for Agnes to deal with at the time. Though she knew now that there was no way that Emerald would judge her for being physically different, it was a hard change for Agnes to have to go through. Especially when all she wanted to do was to keep a low profile. Doesn’t look like that would be happening any time soon.
But before she to relate any of this to Emerald, her rainbow-shaded fly wings fluttered briefly before she managed to place them against her back again. She really needed to learn to control those back muscles…
>> “Besides the fact you are apparently a winged girl now. Hell, maybe I should try to grow a pair of wings, ha-ha, imagine that, a werewolf with wings.”
Agnes blushed, but the laughed gently at her friend’s comment. It was a humorous idea to imagine Emerald flying around with wings on her back, but she assumed that it was not completely out of the realm of possibility. After all there were mutants out there with stranger abilities. But in the end, she had to smirk at Emerald’s attempt to make her smile. It worked of course.
She grinned as she shook her head.
“That would be quite a sight to see,” she said as she walked further into the room. She sighed as her wings gleamed briefly in the sunlight that shone through the room. She casually shoved her hands into her pockets. “I-I’m sorry, you know, for not coming around more often. It’s just…t-the wings…kinda…threw me for a loop. I…didn’t know how to handle them,” she muttered as her wings, as if on cue, involuntarily fluttered again. “I’m doing my best to keep them under control.”
It was good to know that Agnes wasn't angry at her or anything like that. Though, she was able to tell that through the girl's body language alone. It seemed to be that she was far more freaked out about the whole, "I'm now a winged person." thing that anything out.
It was understandable though, if you didn't grow up with a physical mutation and one just pops out, pretty much means you won't find it natural. Besides, at least it was only wings and nothing else that was huge. It could have been worse, she could have grown a stinger or something crazy like that, but at least it was just something simple like wings, which made Emerald wonder if she learned to fly yet.
"It's alright, I can imagine it isn't easy getting used random new body parts. Sides, you weren't born with them like me,"Emerald would say, shrugging her shoulders a little. It was good that Agnes was trying to apologize for not visiting but it wasn't really necessary, Emerald wasn't mad at her at all.
The blue-eyed wolf girl would stretch a little eying that damn card that she was given earlier in the day before looking away from in. Grumbling a little to herself since she couldn't keep it out of her mind.
"So besides from that, anything new happening with you? Anything your Alpha can help you with?" Emerald would grin a little at that, trying her best not to think of her own problems even if she was failing hard at it.
>> "It's alright, I can imagine it isn't easy getting used random new body parts. Sides, you weren't born with them like me,"
Agnes had to nod a bit sympathetically. She knew she was acting silly. Her sister, Gina, and Emerald here had visible mutations that they were born with. They had to deal with this type of thing for the whole of their lives. If there was anyone that she should not have been ashamed to be around, it was the both of them. But Agnes still found it hard to face them for awhile, but thankfully she managed to get over it and now was attempting to embrace the changes to her life. Gina was definitely in her cheerleading section and not it felt so good to have Emerald there as well.
She smiled and nodded. Her wings fluttered again but they were slowly growing more and more under her control. It definitely felt good to be unique but her main problem with this change in her life was the attention. But, she was strong; of that she was sure. Before long she would be able to live with it as easily as she did when she finally began to accept the fact that she was a mutant.
Another encouraging smile to Emerald as she glanced at her, noting that she was acting just a little…squirrely. There seemed to be something on her friend’s mind, but before she could get into it, Emerald that decided to continue their conversation.
>> "So besides from that, anything new happening with you? Anything your Alpha can help you with?"
She shook her head gratefully. “No, no, nothing else to report. Just, you know, the wings,” she said with a grin.
But as she said so, she also noticed that Emerald was indeed looking a bit distracted. What was one the she-wolf’s mind? Curiously Agnes walked closer to Emerald a claimed a seat next to her on the bed, her head inclined to show that she was indeed here to listen and help if her friend and packmate needed it at all.
“Emerald, a-are you okay?” she said with a careful but loving scrutinizing. “You seem a little…distracted. Is something on your mind? I’m sorry if I intruded on anything important.”
With nothing of note to report, Agnes seemed to quickly drop the subject of herself and change it to less…favorable subjects. Of course, she was going to bring up how weird Emerald was acting, any true pack member would notice that sort of thing in a heartbeat, in spite of how Emerald didn’t want to admit it. To the Alpha, she almost felt like she was admitting weakness when talking about this sort of thing, considering how silly of a thing it was getting worked up over.
Most girls would be running across the room and doing summersaults if they were asked out on a date. Yet, here she was, pondering the truthfulness of the whole thing and whether or not he could be truly trusted. It was silly and stupid, but after being hurt as well as left alone so many times, it felt almost naturally to her to feel this way. It had been so long since she had been treated like a normal person by someone she first met.
Hell, it had been a long time since anyone had asked her out on a date that didn’t seem like a complete jerk. The last guy she really liked stood her up at the big Xaviers meet and greet dance, which wasn’t the best experience for her. To her it just seemed like she couldn’t do anything right when it came to relationships.
“It’s really that obvious huh,” Emerald sighed, her wagging tail drooping a little until it nearly went between her legs. The normally rough and tumble wolf girl looked surprisingly docile this way. “Ah hell, who am I kidding? Yeah something’s on my mind, I got asked out today by a guy that I just met in the park. He was sweet, nice and he called me beautiful…which hasn’t happened to me in a while,”
Those blue eyes of hers filled with happiness for a moment, before they clouded again with deep worry. “Problem is I don’t have the best track record with guys. Most seem to leave before things get serious or if they do get serious, things don’t ever end well for either of us. Then again It could be worse, the last guy that had any sort of crush on me nearly eviscerated me and tortured me for five hours, luckily though this guy doesn’t seem the type to do something like that. I guess I’m just used to things going horribly,” Emerald laughed grimly, running her fingers through her thick hair. She then glanced at Agnes, realizing how much she was lying on the poor girl and guilt flooded her face.
“Damn it, I’m sorry I shouldn’t be laying all this stuff on you. Guess it had to come out sometime.” Emerald explained, laying back on her bed, the spring on it creaking loudly in protest. Even though she was only 20, there were times she felt older, like she had gone through way too much for someone her age. Sometimes she would just like to relax and forget about everything.
Agnes sat back and simply watched Emerald, waiting for her to make the first comment. She didn’t want to push her, since it was obvious that her redheaded friend was not used to airing out her problems but Agnes really did want her to feel like it was okay to talk to her. After all, Emerald could not always carry the world on her two shoulders. She needed to learn that it was okay to trust someone else and to let her voice be heard.
All Agnes wanted was for Emerald to feel okay with herself.
>> “It’s really that obvious huh…Ah hell, who am I kidding? Yeah something’s on my mind, I got asked out today by a guy that I just met in the park. He was sweet, nice and he called me beautiful…which hasn’t happened to me in a while,”
Agnes listened as Emerald began to speak. And before long, as her friend went on, she could not help the extra wide grin that began to creep across her lips. A guy? A guy had asked her out and Emerald looked as if she were in the middle of a war with herself, unable to decide which side she wanted to be on! Poor thing! Agnes knew where she was coming from but she had never figured that such a thing would befall her. She had always figured that Emerald had just a confident and strong air and such a thing would never bother her.
Apparently she was very wrong. She looked at the blush on Emerald’s cheeks and she wanted to just chuckle at her embarrassment. She didn’t though, and instead remained quiet and listened.
I guess I’m just used to things going horribly,”
Her heart broke a little at those thoughts. Emerald was totally over-thinking all of this but she really could not blame her. After all, considering the experiences she was talking about, she had an extremely difficult time in this field. She wanted to give her condolences but she did not want her friend to mistake that for pity.
>> “Damn it, I’m sorry I shouldn’t be laying all this stuff on you. Guess it had to come out sometime.”
Emerald flopped back on her bed and Agnes hide her smirk. It really was adorable to see Emerald this worked up over a guy. Apparently he was cute, so that was at least a plus, even more so because he apparently was nice too.
Agnes sighed as she patted Emerald’s leg.
“Hey,” she said with a smile. “No offense, but, I dunno, I think…I think that you’re just over-thinking this, hun.” she said honestly. “I’ll tell you some advice that was given to me. You’re young. It’s not like you’re going to marry this guy tomorrow. There’s nothing wrong with just going out and having fun.” She sighed as she laid down casually next to Emerald and stared up at the ceiling. “And hey, if it turns out you really like this guy and he really likes you, then awesome! And if the date is lousy, then whatever! You get a free meal.” She said with a wide grin.
For several long moments, Emerald was truly lost in her own thoughts, unfortunately though they kept getting worse by the moment which made her cringe a little.
She hadn’t always been this pessimistic about things but she had really been put through the wringer when it came to boys so it wasn’t too much of a surprise to her that she felt this way. Still, the hatred for what awful scenarios her mind came up with burned through her, wishing that maybe something could change her mind about this.
Listening to Agnes talk, the wolf girl kicked herself inwardly, even if she already knew some of the advice already. It was the simple”You are overthinking things” bit with more of a, Agnes flare splashed into it. It was clear that Agnes had no ill intent in mind. Her body language was gentle and far more reassuring than anything else.
Even if some people thought Emerald was crazy for thinking this, it was a lot easier for her to tell what people were feeling at times with their body language rather than anything else. Despite this, the words that came out of Agnes' mouth made sense to Emerald and the wolf girl found she felt a tiny bit silly for all this. Not completely due to her past, but a little bit.
“I guess I am overthinking things, but I’m just used to having to think several steps ahead of my opponent or prey. Why can’t going out on a date be as easy as hunting down a deer or tracking down someone’s scent,” Emerald asked, exasperated. If dating was like that, Emerald would be the master at it. Being a wolf for her was easy, being a fighter was easy, so was being a good big sister role, but dating was a completely different world for her entirely.
The wolf girl would blow a strand of red hair out of her face, letting out a rumbling growl for a moment. Things would be so much easier if everyone was a wolf, or at least could understand things like she could. Then again that may just make things far too boring for her.
“Hrm, you know a nice meal sounds pretty good. Though, I wouldn’t make him pay for all of it, don’t want the poor guy to go bankrupt on our date. I need to eat a lot because of my mutation. Well, at least Ruby’s not here to make me pick out some super girly outfit, ” Emerald laughed a little, tail beginning to wag again. Her mood uplifted by the thought of food and possibly a normal date. She would turn to her friend that now occupied the bed with her. “Thanks Agnes, means a lot for you to talk me down from that.”
>> “I guess I am overthinking things, but I’m just used to having to think several steps ahead of my opponent or prey. Why can’t going out on a date be as easy as hunting down a deer or tracking down someone’s scent,”
Agnes smirked and had to lightly laugh at that comment. The funniest thing was that she knew that Emerald was not kidding. It was true, if dating were like hunting then Agnes had no doubt in her mind that Emerald would be a master at it. Unfortunately she knew that that was not at all how the real world worked. If Emerald wanted to date someone then she needed to know that she was going to have to take a chance, again.
Yes, after hearing her track record, Agnes knew that it would probably be a tough thing to handle. But she also knew that Emerald could not base the rest of life off of that. If she did, then she might as well tear up that guys number and never see him again. But, judging by the look in her eyes, Agnes had a feeling that that was not really what she wanted to do.
Even Agnes could see that part of Emerald really wanted to see him again.
>> “Hrm, you know a nice meal sounds pretty good. Though, I wouldn’t make him pay for all of it, don’t want the poor guy to go bankrupt on our date. I need to eat a lot because of my mutation. Well, at least Ruby’s not here to make me pick out some super girly outfit, ”
Agnes laughed again. “Well, if you can I can help you pick out something. I mean, well, I’m not the best when it comes to picking out clothes but I would not mind hanging around seeing what you might wear. I can even offer you my humble opinion.”
>> “Thanks Agnes, means a lot for you to talk me down from that.”
The runaway nodded. “No problem.” It was especially no problem because she knew exactly where Emerald was coming from. She acted the same way when Gina set her up on her own blind date. Agnes definitely had sympathy for Emerald’s position but at least she could help her friend out.
Life was sort of strange in the way that you just don't always get what you want. Emerald wanted a world were people acted more like wolves and who knows what Agnes wanted. None the less, Emerald was pleased where this conversation went and saying that she was happy that she had managed to work out her issues, to a certain degree, was an understatement. For a brief moment, Emerald could possibly act like a normal girl for once and while she had done that before, it was nice to have a chance to do it again.
Emerald would sit up from her bed, stretching a little bit as she did so. She never could stay still for too long when she had things on her mind. With a short trip across the room, she opened her closet door and glanced inside.
"You are more than welcome to, I'm supposed to meet him for lunch tomorrow. I'm not that good at picking out clothes though i got this feeling that I may need to sew the dang thing though no matter what," Emerald would grumble, peering into her closet. The wolf girl would retrieve a Gray long sleeved shirt with a sweatshirt pocket in the front and a hood in the back. It had a few holes in it, some larger than others but the thing obviously needed some work.
A look of realization appeared on the wolf girls face when she retrieved the jeans. "Oh right, I'm not the one in the family that can sew. Dang it, that makes...over half of my closet out I suppose. Damn it, I don't want to buy new clothes with my full moon money, I need to buy meat with that," She exclaimed, exasperated.
The jeans she had just retrieved along with the shirt had two large holes at the bottom and various other holes all around the poor set of blue jeans. It would seem that the jeans had been through one of the various brawls that Emerald often found herself in.
Alas, wherever could Emerald find a talented seamstress at this hour.
Agnes sighed. A glance to Emerald as she knew that her friend and pack leader was totally over-thinking this date with this guy but there really was little she could say about it. She had already told her once that she was putting too much pressure on herself and this upcoming date, but she felt if she said it again it would merely become redundant. There was only so many times it could be said. What Emerald did with that information was completely up to her.
She only hoped that the she-wolf would take her advance and calm herself before she talked herself out of it.
>> "You are more than welcome to, I'm supposed to meet him for lunch tomorrow. I'm not that good at picking out clothes though i got this feeling that I may need to sew the dang thing though no matter what,"
She smiled as she sat up in Emerald’s bed and watched as the she-wolf moved over to the closet. It was almost funny for Agnes to imagine that when she went on her date with Jasmine she was in the exact same predicament. She was just as clueless, just as hopeless, and most of all, just as scared.
Though Emerald would never admit she was scared. That was a given. The best thing that Agnes could do for her friend was to simply be here for her.
Silently she watched as Emerald began to pull articles of clothing from her closet and looking more and more dejected with every single pick.
>> "Oh right, I'm not the one in the family that can sew. Dang it, that makes...over half of my closet out I suppose. Damn it, I don't want to buy new clothes with my full moon money, I need to buy meat with that,"
Agnes smiled a little sadly as she pushed herself off of the werewolf’s bed and casually walked up to her. Reaching up she placed a comforting hand on Emerald’s shoulders.
“Hey, calm down, okay?” she smiled warmly. “Pick what you want to wear and I can repair it. I know how to sew and I’m pretty damn good at it. When I lived…at home…I made quite a few of my own dresses and living on the streets I had to obviously patch my clothes up several times. So I don’t think a few gashes here and there will be a problem, okay? But…you need to breathe, Emerald. Like, seriously.”
Emerald blinked with confusion when she was told she told to calm down. Maybe it was because the wolf girl was used to herself in higher strung situations, but she thought she was handling this semi-well. Usually if she wasn't calm she would have done something violent to a wall or something by now.
At the moment, the feelings that were going through her were a little different than that, she was just really anxious and irritated that she didn't think ahead. She glanced at her tail, noticing that while it was in a relaxed position, slightly curved outwards from her leg, it wasn't completely relaxed.
Her tail always revealed more of her emotions than she did and if anyone knew anything about how wolves communicated they would probably understand her body language better.
This was when she noticed, that her body was posed in a way that could be viewed as defensive, shoulders tight, jaw slightly clenched and her tail had started drooping a little. With a little mental face palm, she took a deep breath, loosening up her shoulders and the rest of her body. The last thing the Alpha wanted was to come off as being too defensive. Her defensive stance in wolf form was enough to scare off most animals, she didn't want to end up scaring off Agnes too.
"See, I'm fine now, mostly fine that is. Sorry if I seemed to be stressed, This is just unfamiliar territory for me and I want to go in it prepared," Emerald replied, placing her free hand behind her head sheepishly.
"Besides, I usually end up punching a hole in something if I get too stressed so at the moment I'm good....wait you can sew? Cool, I tried a few times but I ended up getting angry and gave up, patience has never been my strong suit."
The wolf girl's mind was wandering a bit now that there was a different subject brought up. She sorta envied her little sister for having enough patience to sew and now that she knew Agnes sew too she figured the girl was for more of a patient person than she was. It explained how ea silly she was able to deal with the normally volatile wolf girl. The red head was still a little bit on edge about this whole thing, but not enough to be completely disrupted by it.
Emerald would hand over the garments to Agnes before going over to where her little sister’s bed was. She grabbed something from under the bed, hauling it out with relative ease for a. massive tackle box.
""If you need anything like supplies, Ruby left her sewing supplies in this thing after I gave it to her so you can use this. It’s got more than enough stuff in it and Ruby has about 3 more of these at the house so don’t worry about using it all up.” Emerald explained, hefting the massive thing on the bed with the red sheets.
>> "See, I'm fine now, mostly fine that is. Sorry if I seemed to be stressed, This is just unfamiliar territory for me and I want to go in it prepared…Besides, I usually end up punching a hole in something if I get too stressed so at the moment I'm good....wait you can sew? Cool, I tried a few times but I ended up getting angry and gave up, patience has never been my strong suit."
“I’ve had a lot of practice,” she said with a grin. And it was true, to sew (properly anyways) one needed a lot of patience. Thankfully Agnes had that in abundance…
Emerald made Agnes smile. It was funny the way the werewolf could so easily switch between subjects in a conversation. Though she knew that she was right, if she were more stressed out then more than likely there would be a hole in the wall, Agnes could see that she was still tense. It was no surprise, especially since Agnes had gone through nearly the same thing before. Dating was stressful, especially if you’re not accustomed to it.
It was obvious that Emerald was not accustomed to dating a lot. But neither was Agnes so if anything she could be there for her friend.
Then…clothes were handed to her. She inspected them closely as Emerald leaned over the smaller of the beds in the room and pulled out a massive tackle box. She did not question it, though, as she was busy surveying the damage to the clothing choices that Emerald had picked. Definitely not bad and the tears and cuts were also not as serious as Emerald had made them out to be. She had to shake her head because she was sure that most of her fellow teens would have probably paid good money in stores for jeans this tore up.
Her generation could definitely be odd.
She looked up though when Emerald began to explain the tackle box to her.
>> "If you need anything like supplies, Ruby left her sewing supplies in this thing after I gave it to her so you can use this. It’s got more than enough stuff in it and Ruby has about 3 more of these at the house so don’t worry about using it all up.”
“Wow,” she muttered as he looked at the box full of supplies. She leaned down and popped it open. It was a cornucopia of needles, threads of various colors, cloth of various textures, it was heaven in a box. She had to smirk and nodded with some enthusiasm. “I can definitely work with this,” she said as she plopped down next to the tackle box and began to rummage through for the correct needles, threads, and cloth patterns. But she paused when she looked up at Emerald. “Are you sure she won’t mind? I can replace anything I use.”
Judging by Agnes’ reaction, it looked like she was quite pleased with the massive tackle box filled with strings and other sewing items. This was one of those times Emerald was glad that she gave this thing to Ruby and has given her so many things with it. It was true what a lot of people said about the wolf girl and her younger foxling sister, Emerald spoiled her rotten sometimes.
“Yeah she won’t mind, she knows I’ll buy her more anyways. I kinda spoil the little pup sometimes, I suppose. I was going to get her a sewing machine for her birthday, but she wanted a tool kit more so I got her that.” Emerald explained, tail wagging back and forth. She had gotten Ruby a pretty pricey tool kit for her birthday, mainly because Ruby wanted to do more advanced things with her modifications to various machines but didn’t have the tools to do it.
Besides, Ruby was Emerald’s best mechanics and she couldn’t let the girl go around with older tools that couldn’t be used as well as they used to be. This was neither here nor there though, with a quick wag of her tail she glanced at Agnes with such curious eyes it would make one wonder what was going through her head at the moment.
“Hrm, do you actually sew well or do you have spiders and silk worms to do your bidding,” Emerald asked curiously, actually looking legitimately curious about such and obscure question. It wasn’t unlike Emerald to ask such strange questions to people because to her, they weren’t really that strange. “How long have you been sewing anyways?’
She enjoyed hearing about others mutations and she always wanted to learn a little bit more about her friends. It was considered to be an Alpha’s job to know everything about their pack mates so her inquiry of Agnes was not too far-fetched. The wolf girl just hoped that Agnes wouldn’t take things too seriously.
