The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> “Yeah she won’t mind, she knows I’ll buy her more anyways. I kinda spoil the little pup sometimes, I suppose. I was going to get her a sewing machine for her birthday, but she wanted a tool kit more so I got her that.”
Agnes smirked. She remembered Ruby from their brief meeting. The much younger girl was adorable and extremely hard to say “no” to. Agnes had not a single wonder in her mind why Emerald spoiled her younger sister. She was cute and apparently always seemed to be around to pull Emerald’s bacon out of the fire whenever she did something that was deemed as maybe socially wrong. But Agnes never held any of that again Emerald, at least not any more. Ruby helped to smooth that over.
She continued to go through the items in the body as she fished around for the materials that she needed. A glance at Emerald choices in clothes and she saw that there were indeed quite a few patch jobs that would be needed but they were nothing extremely bad. A quick sew and they should be fine.
Agnes quietly began to list what she needed in her head as Emerald spoke up again…
>> “Hrm, do you actually sew well or do you have spiders and silk worms to do your bidding…How long have you been sewing anyways?’
She arched a brow, a small smile on her face. “Technically spiders aren’t insects, they’re arachnids and I think my power only works on insects. And,” she shrugged as she fished around for the correct material she was going to need. “I don’t really control them, they just kind of protect me if I’m in danger. Kind of a more knee-jerk, instinctual thing than me commanding them. But I DO know how to sew,” Agnes smiled. It was not the happiest memory in her arsenal but it came in handy, at least. “My mother pretty much forbade me from ever wearing store bought clothes. She sewed all of my shirts, dresses, socks, absolutely everything. When I was in middle school I begged her to teach me so I could make my own clothes and try to not be AS conservative as my mother. I ended up having a knack for it. Tell ya, knowing how to sew comes in handy when you’re homeless too. Kept me warm on many a cold night.”
A sigh escaped her lips as she shook away the memories. She really did not want to focus on her mother during any of her time her. Instead she took a breath and squeaked successfully when she found needle and thread that would work well to patch up Emerald’s clothing.
“So, tell me about this guy,” she said with slightly evil grin. “He must be pretty special to grab your attention.”
Emerald would watch Agnes for a moment, curious about what she was doing. When Agnes let out a successful squeak, Emerald knew that she had given her clothes to the right seamstress. Not that she had any doubt, but it was useful to have someone who could sew when Ruby wasn’t around. The last time she tried anything like sewing, it didn’t turn out too great, she was actually quite surprised that she didn’t hurt herself the last time she attempted sewing.
This was when Emerald remembered that tiny tidbit Agnes said about being homeless and she looked at the girl for a minute, trying to figure out how a small girl like her lived on the street. Emerald knew she had that swarm of her to protect her, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t anti bug lady mutants out there. If anything, it was a possibility Agnes hid the whole time and managed to avoid the rest of the sick freaks that lived in certain places on the street. While Emerald had no problem with those without a place to go, she did have a problem with the ones that used that as an excuse to commit crimes.
“Huh, Whenever I needed new clothes when I was out on the streets, I would just knock some poor sap out and take some of his,” Emerald would say, tail wagging in a slightly pondering sort of way. While she did try to avoid that last question she saw Agnes’ face and knew she would have to spill. This was one of those times she hated being a 20 year-old girl, gossip.
Agnes wanted Emerald to talk about why she liked this guy and honestly that was a little hard for Emerald. It wasn’t that she didn’t feel something for him, she did, and she truly did, just not quite in that way.
“Yea he’s sort of cute and funny. He is apparently an artist and he says I look a lot like his character in the comic that he draws. I don’t know, it’s just it’s been a long time since someone has noticed me like that and looked at me like I was a girl and not just some animal,” Emerald told her Bug Habitat friend.
Emerald had been torn about her wolf side as of late and it showed. While she was very proud of being a mutant and of her wolven heritage she still wanted to be a little bit normal maybe find a nice guy that didn’t run in fear. Maybe Akshay was that sort of guy.
>> “Huh, Whenever I needed new clothes when I was out on the streets, I would just knock some poor sap out and take some of his,”
Agnes smirked and nearly poked herself with the needle as she was fixing up the seam of one of Emerald’s articles of clothing. She had to smile at the idea. A homeless Emerald, stalking through the streets, suddenly konks someone on the head and runs off with their pants. It really was a funny sight to hold in one’s head.
But she paused.
Wait, Emerald was homeless too? Agnes had paused in her sewing only long enough to look up at the redheaded wolf-girl as she sat off to the side. It was not that Agnes did not believe that Emerald had what it took to be homeless, but judging by the picture of her and her family, Agnes had initially figured that that was how it had always been. Wolf-themed family members sitting around, laughing over the dinner table about wolf-like things.
For some reason the thought had just never entered her head that Emerald had been homeless too. The knowledge of that seemed to connect the two on another level. So Emerald knew what is like, just as Agnes did. The running, the hiding, the fighting, the screams in the night. Agnes was lucky that she had gotten away every time. Normally, girls like her, they simply don’t make it.
She sighed as she shivered that thought away. She really, really did not want to think about that right now.
But thankfully the conversation had shifted back to Emerald and her impending date. That really was the most exciting.
>> “Yea he’s sort of cute and funny. He is apparently an artist and he says I look a lot like his character in the comic that he draws. I don’t know, it’s just it’s been a long time since someone has noticed me like that and looked at me like I was a girl and not just some animal,”
Agnes smiled a little. It really seemed as if Emerald was into the guy who had asked her out and for a very good reason too. Agnes knew where her friend was coming from. When she lived on the streets people always looked at her as if she were less than nothing, or just another victim. When someone actually looks past all that, it really was a miraculous thing. This really must have been a nice guy to affect such a tough gal like Emerald.
“That’s so exciting, Emerald,” she said with a warm smile and a nod. “Especially if he’s a comic artist that you think is cute. I love comic books, I used to collect them.”
Emerald tilted her head a little when Agnes mentioned that she used to collect comics. She knew that Ruby hasn’t left any of hers when she moved back to the parents’ house so she couldn’t show Agnes her younger sister’s massive collection. Most of Ruby’s things had to do with robotics and normal people who became super heroes because of their normal skills, those were Ruby’s favorites. Emerald knew it was because of the fact that those characters probably reminded ruby of their father and how he is a “super hero” even without the whole being a mutant thing. It was a cute little adoration the young fox girl had for her father.
The guy talk continued and Emerald couldn’t help but grin, she wished that she could have seen Agnes a picture of Akshay, that probably would have made the whole “describing how cute he was.” Thing easier. This was right around the time when a sudden thought struck her.
“You know what I just realized, I don’t even know if this guys a mutant. Not that I care but…I may have to make sure he doesn’t go near any art galleries when Sapphire comes back to town,” Emerald said with a worried bite of her lip. She would quickly realize that she was worrying about something far too much that hadn’t happened yet. Emerald managed to shake it off this time though, keeping the thoughts shoved in the distant back end of her mind.
“Bah, I’m overthinking things again, sorry; I sometimes wonder if there is an amount a single person can worry about before they explode.” Emerald asked, a small laugh escaping her lips. It was true though, she did wonder that sometimes considering how much she worried and Ruby worried about her more than anything else, sometimes she was surprised the little one had just fallen over yet. Maybe it was just because as Lupin family members, they were just entitled to overthink things considering how much they had been through.
Emerald would lie back on her bed and stare up at the celling, her tail wagging back and forth slowly. She wasn’t thinking about anything really, just clearly lost in thought, but happy about it judging by her smile.
“Ruby collects comics, mainly the normal man becoming super stuff. She always tries to find werewolf stories that don’t have the werewolf eating people but she ever has any luck. What sort of comics do you like?” Emerald asked, that grin still on her face.
>> “You know what I just realized, I don’t even know if this guys a mutant. Not that I care but…I may have to make sure he doesn’t go near any art galleries when Sapphire comes back to town…Bah, I’m overthinking things again, sorry; I sometimes wonder if there is an amount a single person can worry about before they explode.”
Agnes had to snicker. She was just about to reprimand Emerald for over thinking things again, but thankfully her friend had decided to do that herself. Emerald really seemed flustered over this guy to the point that Agnes could not help but see how cute it was. The she-wolf was such a strong person that Agnes always imagined her being tough in any type of situation. Apparently this was the one situation in which she wasn’t: meeting someone that she really liked.
She shook her head, laughing silently to herself at the idea. She knew that Emerald would be okay, she just wished that Emerald herself would eventually figure that out.
One of the garments of clothing was done being sewed. Nodding at her craftsmanship, she folded it up neatly an set it aside as she picked up another of the torn items and started working on that one. The tears on this one were not nearly as bad so she would be done before she knew it.
Agnes fished into the tackle box for the correctly colored thread she needed and began to patch up this one as well.
>> “Ruby collects comics, mainly the normal man becoming super stuff. She always tries to find werewolf stories that don’t have the werewolf eating people but she ever has any luck. What sort of comics do you like?”
Ruby was turning out to be an absolutely fascinating child. Maybe she should try to take the girl out for ice cream or something when she came back. After all, they were fellow packmates and already she knew that the girl liked sewing and comic books. That was enough to build a friendship on, after all, right?
She shrugged though at the question that had been turned towards her. Her crystal blue eyes were intent and focused on the garment and needle in her hands.
“The usual kind of stuff. Heroes, science fiction…” she said with a smile as she worked. Then she paused as she sighed. “I had a good collection, but, when I left home, I had to leave all but one behind,” she muttered sadly. “It was part of a really good collection my brother had started me on. But…at least I still have the first one,” she said with a small smile.
Emerald became a little worried when Agnes mentioned her home again and how she used to collect comics. God knew where those things were now, with that poor girls luck her whack job parents probably already burned the things. Emerald couldn't imagine what Ruby would do if she found out her collection was ruined like that, or even worse, if her collection of books was touched.
"If you want I can help ya try to find some of the ones you used to collect. The guy I'm going out on a date with, Akshay, he works at a comic book store and I bet I can get some comics for ya that way." Emerald offered, serious about the whole thing.
The last thing Emerald wanted was for her friend to go without something when she could easilly get it for her. Ethier that or she could go through the duplicates Ruby had shelved over the years and see if she wanted to part with any of them. Hell that was like jumping into a a sharks tank but if it was a way for Agnes to feel better she would do it.
Speaking of Agnes, Emerald could help but notice the girl was done with one of her shirts and while she did want to take a look at it and her eyes clearly said she did, it was so neatly folded she didn't want to ruin it. Also, she was sort of used to getting scolded when she touched folded clothes too early by most members of her family so she figured it owuld probably be best if she didn't. Being this close to Agnes the wolf girl did notice something else.
"Your scent's changed since I first met you," Emerald blurted out, before quickly deciding to explain herself. "I mean, like I can tell you are around other people now. Cause before ya didn't barely have anyones scents on ya but now I can tell that you know a lot more people know and sometimes their scents linger on you deppending on how long you spend with them. So in other words I can tell you have more of a pack now than you had before, since before you were kind of a lone wolf. Now though I can smell a few peoples scents that I can identify as people around the mansion... though one smells like flowers and a soccer field and I don't know what you've been doing on a soccer field with flowers."
Emerald would grin a little at Agnes, tail wagging happily, worries about Akshay's date looming before her lifted by having some sort of girly talk. Well, talking about scents was more of a wolf talk, but maybe the scent she mentioned had some conotations she didn't know about
Agnes had let that memory take her away. In her room at her parents’ house, underneath the floorboards under her bed, there was a loose board that her brother Dante had showed her. In it she kept all the things that her parents would have viewed as inappropriate for her to have. Comics, unopened make-up, phone numbers that “friends” at school had given her, magazines, etc. It was there that she had kept her small collection of comic books that she had so lovingly built up.
The last night she spent in that house, Agnes had completely ignored the comics, which was odd. Normally when Agnes was upset she pulled them out because they calmed her. But that night, she knew that nothing was going to keep her calm. She was proven right after the exorcism.
The pain was unbearable and the shattering of her views on her parents were mind altering. That was why when Agnes fled the house she didn’t take them all. She had one precious comic that she took with her, the first one that her brother Dante had ever given her. Though she would miss the others, she would never be able to carry them all. So she fled in the night with only a single one of her collection, leaving the others to a fate she would never know.
>> "If you want I can help ya try to find some of the ones you used to collect. The guy I'm going out on a date with, Akshay, he works at a comic book store and I bet I can get some comics for ya that way."
Agnes smiled, and smiled wide. She nodded her head. “I would love that. Thank you so much, Emerald.”
The idea of reconnecting with that one aspect of her past that she enjoyed made her smile.
Agnes set to work on another torn piece of Emerald’s wardrobe. She had a feeling that without Ruby here, Agnes had suddenly been promoted to official mender/seamstress for her she-wolf friend. Not that Agnes had a problem with that. She enjoyed being useful.
>> "Your scent's changed since I first met you…?
She blinked and tilted her head to meet Emerald’s gaze.
“Excuse me?”
>> “I mean, like I can tell you are around other people now.
That really was an impressive nose that girl had. Agnes immediately began to feel bad. She had not updated Emerald on a lot of her own friends and her own goings-on in life. That was her fault, she really needed to learn to be more open around the she wolf. She honestly doubted she had even told Emerald about her orientation.
That would definitely explain why she could feel a blush coming over her cheeks about the smell of “flowers and soccer”. She took a breath. No time like the present.
Still blushing a little, she glanced at Emerald out of the corner of her eyes and stopped her sewing so that she did not accidentally poke her own fingers.
“Oh, heh, yeah, that,” she muttered as she tucked a few strands of her loose hair behind her ear. “That, um…that would probably be Jasmine. M-My girlfriend…”
Emerald was at least glad she was able to perk Agnes up with the promise of her old comic books being Semi restored. It wasn't like she could replace the entire collection that Agnes once had but she would do her best to restore it as much as she could.
Besides, that was one of the best things about having a job, she was able to help buy things for her friends that she normally wouldn't be able to buy. That and it did help she had plenty of money left from her short lived motocross career to buy a few things. Thank goodness she was able to get the bank to unlock her account after the camps were over.
After making the inquiry about her scent, Emerald secretly hoped she hadn't gone too far with that. She had been known too far with certain things. Agnes seemed to be a little sheepish now that she had stopped sewing and Emerald was about to say that she didn't have to say anything if she didn't want to.
Then Agnes told her she had a girlfriend.
"Oh, alright then theres nothing wrong with that as long as you can find a mat-wait a second," Emerald's gaze would harden a little, deep blue eyes showing no emotion. Then she would do something no one would ever expect the wolf girl to do in the history of time.
Poke Agnes' stomach repeatedly, avoiding where the scar Agnes had was..
"Why didn't you tell me about that, it's not right to keep that sort of thing from your Alpha," Emerald grumbled, poking Agnes furiously. She wasn't doing it that hard, just hard enough to slightly annoy the girl. She stopped after a little bit and smile a little at her. "If you ever keep that sort of thing from me again you will feel the Alpha's tickling, poking, noggie filled wrath."
With Ruby not around as much, Agnes was the closest thing Emerald had at the moment to a little sister. So she was planning on treating her the same way she treated Ruby when she kept a secret from her. With Pokes and noggies.
>> "Oh, alright then theres nothing wrong with that as long as you can find a mat-wait a second,"
Here it comes… Agnes thought.
The young runaway knew better than to keep things from Emerald. Not because the she-wolf could not take it but it always seemed to Agnes that Emerald was preoccupied with making sure that everyone else was okay before looking into herself. Agnes did not find that annoying at all. She was actually flattered that Emerald was so worried about her. It was like having an older sister that she had always wanted.
But the other side of that coin was that she kind of needed to inform Emerald of things inside of just letting her find out on her own or well after the fact. Agnes still had trouble informing people of things that are going on in her life. At home she had to keep everything that was not school or church related a secret, and living on the streets she really could not just go up to a random person and begin talking about her day. Agnes was used to the secrecy of her life and that was going to be the hardest habit to break.
But she was getting better! At least she told Emerald now instead of waiting for her to stumble upon the both Jasmine and Agnes relaxing in the gardens outside the mansion.
>> "Why didn't you tell me about that, it's not right to keep that sort of thing from your Alpha…If you ever keep that sort of thing from me again you will feel the Alpha's tickling, poking, noggie filled wrath."
For each tummy poke, Agnes squeaked and attempted to scoot away. Apparently Emerald was really quite offended to have not been informed; offended enough to take it out on Agnes. The runaway squeaked again as Emerald poked her stomach once more for good measure.
“Alright, alright, I’m sorry,” she said in mock defeat. Then she sternly wagged her finger at Emerald. “Don’t threaten your seamstress, Emerald Lupin. Otherwise you’re going find yourself owning nothing but assless pants!”
To drive in her point she snipped a pair of comically tiny sewing scissors in Emerald’s direction. When she was sure that Emerald got her point, no pun intended, she smirked as she snipped the thread from her latest patch job, shook it out, and then tossed the garment into Emerald’s hand.
“Make yourself useful and fold that,” she grinned.
Emerald figured that Agnes would reply to her in some sort of quirky way after the wolf girls own weird way of "punishing" her was over and done with. It was sort of funny though, Emerald hadn't expected Agnes to be as ticklish or giggly as she was, but she seemed to be laughing quite a bit. This would be something Emerald would have to remember for future tickling moments of doom. Agnes was fun to torment, it was like having her easily embarrassed little sister back all over again. It would be even better if she could tease the two at once, turning her big sister instincts up to 11. These diabolical thoughts would be interrupted by Agnes not so idle threat of turning Emerald’s pants into pants without the proper backing. The she-wolf would grin a little at the threat, a stupidly big grin on her face.
“You never know, he may like that sort of thing, he is a guy after all.” Emerald would say, letting out a low chuckle. Agnes’ threat may have just backfired since the wolf girl seemed highly amused by this idea. While she didn’t want Agnes to destroy her pants, this didn’t mean that she was completely distraught by the idea. She actually found it quite hilarious to think about.
Last time Emerald checked, no guy could resist a girl in revealing clothing and if Akshay saw her in that, he may just pop one of those anime style nose bleeds. Then again, she wouldn’t be completely comfortable wearing something that revealing unless it was behind closed doors. Not many people would be comfortable in something like that out in public, unless they just didn’t have any common sense to begin with.
Emerald would fumble with the clothing she was given to fold, having quite a lot of difficulty with it at first. She just couldn’t find the perfect way to fold the darn thing, and she must have done it at least five times before she got it in a perfect square. Old Habits from her past died hard in this case and refolding her clothes was one of those weird habits from her past she was never able to quite break out of.
“There done! Damn, you would think my genius of a little sister would have created a clothes folding robot for me by now, she has created just about every other kind for menial tasks around the house.” Emerald would grumble.
>> “You never know, he may like that sort of thing, he is a guy after all.”
Agnes blushed at the comment before she suddenly started to laugh. The very idea of Emerald walking around in pants that had no back end just set off a fit a giggles. On top of that, Agnes, unfortunately, had experience with just how twisted some boys could be. She had no doubt that there was every likely chance that this guy probably would not have minded that look for Emerald. As a matter of fact one of the boys she meet on campus had actually suggested the same thing for herself!
She gave him a black eye for that comment. Now he knew never to go around saying stupid things like that again.
But she knew that Emerald knew that she was kidding. Her comment was all in good jesting so she would not go around, defacing all of Emerald’s clothing. Instead she picked up the next thing that was torn to holy hell and started to mend that one. She wondered exactly how many clothes Emerald had torn in her life. It couldn’t be easy to avoid, especially with powers like she had. But Agnes was glad that she could help.
Out of the corner of her eye she watched as Emerald seemed to have trouble getting her clothes folded in just the right way. The runaway smirked a little as she watched her before she turned back to her own work. After completing a few more garments, she glanced over as Emerald FINALLY finished folding her clothes to her satisfaction.
>> “There done! Damn, you would think my genius of a little sister would have created a clothes folding robot for me by now, she has created just about every other kind for menial tasks around the house.”
Agnes smirked.
“But then where would the fun be of watching you fold clothes,” Agnes winked and tossed the rest of the clothes that she had quickly mended while Emerald had been busy. “There you go!”
