The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lumen was ready to call it quits after that but before she knew it she and her new friend were being pulled back by some invisible force. She stared gaping at those around them wondering who or what could be doing this because it could only be a mutant. At least they were away from that thing and it's tail. She had pitied the creature, she wouldn't make that mistake again.
"Hey..." she stammered when they finally stopped moving, noticing the blood trickling from the man's nose. "You did that?" before he could reply he took a step and fell forward toward the ground, apparently fainting.
Lumen didn't let him. She caught him with surprisingly strong and stable arms. He had just moved all those people. Trying to move one person would probably kill Lumen, and here this guy just moved all those. She rolled him over on to his back and laid his head in her lap facing to the sky. She fished out a tissue and patted the blood away. "Come on guy, wake up. Not the time for a nap." she could tell he was breathing and hoped it was just a standard blackout. Hard to know these days with mutants.
So she sat like that with his head in her lap, trying to keep her hair from spilling in his face, and her arms crossed protectively across him. There was no running away now. Either the police showed up or a brawl was about to happen. Either way Lumen couldn't run like she would have liked. She was fit, but not fit enough to carry a fully grown man to safety.

Jorge
((OOC: Hope this is cool, ya'll))
”MRC Report…10-34…5th and Munroe”
“10-4, Dispatch, Detective Cervantes responding…” Jorge responded into his radio as he slipped behind the wheel of an unmarked police car, a 2009 Mustang GT , and headed out to the incident that had just been called out.
Instantly, the second he revved the engine and pulled away from the police station, Jorge started up the siren. The flashing red and blue lights seemed to grab any and everyone’s attention as he tore off down the street, heading to the address that he had been given. All that dispatch had informed him of was that there was a 9-1-1 call in which a woman shouted that where was some fight going on in the street. Some lizard mutant and another “ice” mutant were going at it in front of a lot of people. Obviously this was not going to be a good scenario.
The detective did not like it when mutants did this. They should have known better. So many wanted to fight for acceptance, for a chance to be viewed just like everyone else, but they made it so hard because too many times incidents like this happened. Then again, how was it really any different than when two drunken fools have a fight out in the middle of the street? Mutants just made it seem worse because powers could equal collateral damage.
Heh, could. It normally did!
But Jorge could not really judge anything that was going on until he got to the scene. The last time he was a part of a mutant incident like this on the streets, one of his fellow officers died because of a cyborg mutant that he had never seen again. He could not go into this with blinders on. He needed to stay focused and hoped he could get there before anyone got hurt.
Unfortunately, something in the pit of his stomach told him that that was not going to be the case today. But still…he prayed.
The flashing police car tore through the streets, weaving in and out of traffic as he exploited every short cut he could remember in order to get to the scene. The 41-year old officer sighed as he brushed a hand through his dark, though speckled with gray, hair and kept his eyes open for the upcoming scene. So far there did not seem to be a mass of people running through the streets, screaming bloody murder. That had to be a good sign, right? Maybe it meant that whoever these two mutants were managed to work out their differences civilly?
He turned the corner and ground his teeth as he pulled his car up the scene, the flashing of his red and blue lights illuminating the street.
Guess not, he thought the second that he noticed the car door skewered by pillars of crystals that reflected and scattered his emergency lights.
His world slowed down. Eyes focusing, breathing becoming slow and methodic, the entered the scene. Once he pulled to a stop the detective climbed out of his car and, in one smooth motion, pulled his gun from his holster and aimed it at the more dangerous of the two mutants, the walking reptile with the blood glistening from the end of his tail.
Gun trained he bellowed in his grizzly, authoritative voice.
That was nice of the woman to do, catching him as she did. Saves him the trouble of waking up worse off than he already was if he had bounced his head against the ground on his way down. now he lay motionless, being tended to by the woman with his head cradled in her lap - if he were concious he would have been content to stay like that, until he said something stupid and she slapped him across the face.
Dark red and purple circles were forming under his eyes from the capilaries that had burst, no doubt the result of what he had done to 'save' the people who were already working on picking themselves up off the ground and continuing their hasty escape. Out cold with a bloody nose, black eyes and who knows what else he'd done to himself in an effort to keep from feeling any small amount of guilt over people dying around him. Go him?
((ooc: Feel free to skip over me from here on, unless it's really important I describe how unconcious he'll continue to be for a while ))
It went nearly unnoticed by Aurion that the white haired woman and the other people had gone flying backwards away from Glass-man and himself. Normally such a quick thing would have captures his attention at once. Normally he would have given chase, but he was focused on the man in front of him to see his reaction to what Aurion had done.
Aurion saw the change in the man before he began to move. Inside Aurion sighed. He didn't want to make this guy his enemy, but that was no longer possible. His eyes became slits behind his protective eyelid. Glass-man moved as if to catch Aurion's tail and he let his tail get close, before pulling it away from the man. It never got closer than two feet.
Though Aurion was large and had long legs, he was still easily able to kick straight at the man's chest without moving much and still able to put almost all the force he could into it. That was the advantage to having quick, but strong muscles. It was only then that he saw the squad car pull up and an officer jump out with gun in hand.
The cop seemed to ignore Glass-man for whatever reason, or he saw Aurion's appearance, and mistook his scale coloring for blood, which was very possible. He highly doubted anyone was able to tell the police about the woman and that information getting to the cop so quickly. Either way Aurion was aware that the gun of was trained on himself. He wasn't especially worried, it was unlikely the cop would be a good enough shot to hit him in his eye. That was really the only part of his body that his scales weren't thick enough to protect himself from a handgun, at least at the range that the cop was.
Still mostly on one leg Aurion pushed off the ground and backwards from his spot a good 10feet before he landed in a crouch, on all fours, his tail out behind him curving side to side slightly. He was facing the cop, his head down and hid body in line with his skull plates to offer him the most protection from the officer. The car he had busted up already was close, he could use it for cover, or parts, if he needed. The apartment building he had jumped off of was also very close, with windows easily accessible on the first floor. He could clear that height in one jump and be inside quickly.
Aurion hadn't waited to see what his kick did to Glass-man before he jumped back. But if it hadn't taken him out of the fight, or knocked the fight out of him, he might end up dealing with both of them at once. The cop he could deal with, probably easily, but Glass-man could be another issue. Of course if the officer had backup coming, it could get bad really fast. A loud low growl grew in Aurion's throat as the corners of his mouth began to twitch.
He wondered how much blood he would spill this night.
OOC: we've been waiting a bit, so I'm going to skip Joe and he can post again as soon as he's ready. If something I put doesn't work, please feel free to PM and I'll fix it.
IC:
Lumen was more than relieved when she saw a certain face from earlier this week show up with a gun. Detective Jorge Cervantes. If there was one man she trusted to deal with this situation- it would certainly be him. She adjusted her weight a little and concentrated on spreading out her energy. She wasn't glowing, but the heat from her light was coursing through her and she hoped it was warming the poor guy she had in her lap.
She'd only met Jorge a few days earlier but he'd left her with a good impression. The fact that he was sent out- she had to wonder if they suspected this event to have something to do with the missing kids, or if Jorge was just the best man for a mutant-crime job. Either way, he was easy on the eyes.
Just then the creature turned to stare Jorge down. "Be careful Detective Cervantes!" she yelled. "He's already killed a woman, his tail is the dangerous part!"
Now that the creature was facing him she could indeed see how scaley it was. She doubted a gun would do much to harm him. So what would? She could try a blinding flash if they needed to get away quick.. but then this thing was still loose. She remembered then about that mutant school she wanted to investigate. She had to wonder what they'd do with a thing like this. Perhaps she'd find out tonight if Jorge was a mutant after all. She secretly prayed he was and that he had some kind of epic ass kicking power.

Jorge
In the blink of an eye, the creature was gone. It was hefty, thick, well over six feet tall, but it was hard to tell by how the creature crouched. But Jorge had caught a glimpse of its full stretch as he leapt away from the crystal covered man and the borrowed undercover car. It flipped through the air and landed with ease near another vehicle that looked as if it had been smashed earlier due to the creature’s action. He really was not liking the looks of this: people were near, another mutant was at the scene with intentions that he didn’t know yet, and this mutant looked extremely agitated.
The odds were not good here. He did not know his chances of keeping the beast from doing anything stupid. Already he could see blood on its tail that curved and swayed behind it angrily and he definitely did not like the look of that gleam its eyes. It was mad and he really, really did not know what he could do to calm it down.
Gun still trained, Jorge’s mind raced with what he could do next when a voice suddenly called out to him; a very familiar voice.
>> "Be careful Detective Cervantes! He's already killed a woman, his tail is the dangerous part!"
A quick glance out of the corner of his eye and he caught that sight of extremely white hair. It did not take him long to realize who it was: Lumen. How she managed to find herself in this situation, he’d question later. For now he needed to get her and anyone else around to safety while also trying to hoping get some sense into this creature.
Which was going to be far more difficult than he thought considering that it had already killed. But…he had to try.
A very small step forward, he had to make sure the mutant’s attention was fully on him; that meant putting himself at the forefront. Gun still trained, Jorge also reached out with his sense and located every nearby place that had a usable source of water. He clung onto those as he eyed the mutant.
“Hey buddy, I’m Detective Cervantes of Mutant Related Crimes. We can work this out, okay?” he said sternly but not trying to appear overly threatening (which is hard with a gun in hand). “Please, stop now before you make this entire situation any worse. Do you hear me?”
Joe felt his fingers grasp air as he lunged for the tail of the freakish mutant it was then he felt his entire body get jerked as what felt like a cannonball hit him in the right side of his chest launching him backwards. It felt like he hung in the air for minutes as he was launched back pain radiating in his ribs. With a grunt he came back to earth, crashing into the pavement his crystals gouging into the street slowing him to a stop. Joe groaned as he turned to his side and pushed himself up off the ground he could feel the crystals at the area he was kicked were now laced with crack marks. Turning to look back towards the beast all Joe saw was a cop and a car sitting between him and the monster. Joe made his way to the opposite end of the car from the cop he didn’t need to catch a bullet to the chest today if at all possible.
>> "Be careful Detective Cervantes! He's already killed a woman, his tail is the dangerous part!"
Joe heard a woman yell towards the cop, Detective rather, Joe turned to give the Detective a once over and he silently hoped there was more to him then just some aging cop with a gun.
>> “Hey buddy, I’m Detective Cervantes of Mutant Related Crimes. We can work this out, okay? Please, stop now before you make this entire situation any worse. Do you hear me?”
Joe looked back towards the monster that was now up on top of the car he had crushed before the thing was ready for a fight and Joe really wished he had just gone inside and ignored the whole situation this was not his business and now Joe was going to have to deal with the Police. “Tired that already officer, this thing is intent on killing today.” Joe called to Detective Cervantes and with that he pushed more crystals out growing them so they reinforced his body, the crystals formed up his neck and grew over his face before stretching out the back of his head. “God I’m ready for a drink.” Joe said as he stood waiting for the Mexican standoff they were engaged in to finally explode.
"Be careful Detective Cervantes! He's already killed a woman, his tail is the dangerous part!"
The cop and the woman knew each other. Aurion wished he had taken that one's throat out now. There had been a slight chance he could have blamed the woman on Glass-Man, but that was gone now. Gone like a fart in the wind. 'Damned woman.' He thought to himself.
He cursed again when he saw Glass-Man get up. Not only did he get up but he seemed perfectly fine as he moved to stand near the cop. He didn't look happy and he looked to be more trouble as glass seemed to cover even more of him like some strange medieval armor.
Aurion wasn't sure what the cop thought he was doing. Trying to talk him down or something. Did they really think that kind of thing worked? They must since it seemed to be what they all did. 'Heh.' He thought to himself as he took a closer look at the officer. 'Mutant Related Crimes?' That gave Aurion pause. He had never heard of that before so he had no idea how long that division had been around. Whether it was old or new didn't really matter, the guy was still alive. That realization added points to the guy in Aurion's mind, he could be a lot more dangerous than Aurion first thought.
His back curved as he shrunk into himself, his tail wrapping around him while he gripped his plates with his claws. He started rocking back and forth slightly as 'tears' gathered in his eyes. They were tears of blood. Crying was something he couldn't really do anymore, but he could force 'tears' to flow. His vision was colored red from the blood.
It was a pretty risky move what he was doing, taking his eyes off both the officer and Glass-Man. He had a hunch that while they would both be suspicious, the officer would be more..understanding, more sympathetic. His shoulders and head snapped forward and down to smash his skull plates into the ground. Three times in quick succession. Three times sounding like it could break bone. In an almost inaudible voice, "Didn't stop them. Save me..didn't....help me." He repeated it over and over, each time getting louder and louder.
Yeah, he might look crazy, maybe he was. Maybe it looked fake. It was, and wasn't at the same time. They might not fall for it, but that would be okay too, it gave him more time to think. He wasn't going to bail, at least not yet. This was a unique situation for him.
ooc: I'll probably let you all skip over me too from now on til I feel there's anything significant for me to do
IC: Lumen stared in total shock while Jorge tried to talk the mutant down. What's worse was the mutant seemed to be responding. He curled into a ball rocking back and forth. She even thought she saw tears but they were a strange colour... "God... he's acting like a kid. Could he be a really young mutant?" she said out loud to no one in particular.
She checked on the guy laying in her lap, she still had her arms across him protectively. She didn't think he was going to wake up and started to worry he was going to need a hospital. How in the hell was she going to get him to one? He was too heavy to drag out of danger even if she did use her powers. Calling an ambulance right now didn't seem like the best idea either. All she could do was focus on keeping him safe until this blew over. She'd need to save her power in case Jorge couldn't get through to the creature.
