The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Well, damn. Gawain pulled a smile. There are things one cannot rush. Also, pay attention to whatever your girlfriend is saying...
>>"Think you could show me how to use a bow and arrow...?... And tell me, what else do you mansion kids do for fun?"
He smirked. Bow and arrow, huh.
"Sure" he nodded "I can take you to the Danger Room."
Technically... well, never mind. Sam was not home anyway.
"We do a lot of things" he explained as they started walking "In the summer we have a pool. And the whole mansion grounds. In winter... well. Depends on who you ask. There are lotsa things to do around here."
God, that joke had to have been made over 9000 times, with a name like that.
She tilted her head.
And... followed~
"Pool, huh? That'll be fun, come Summer-time." Swimming was great. Plus, Gawain in trunks. As for winter... "Hm. Wonder if we could mirrorwalk up to the mountains, do some skiing. During the winter." Now there was an idea. Yeah. Gawain was good for transportation, if one was cheap. He could totally get used.
"What about you? What do you do here for fun?" She added curiously, looking at him.
"Ya bet" he grinned. Swimming was good. Splashing around in the pool with other mutants was even better. Plus, Ami in a bikini...
>>"Hm. Wonder if we could mirrorwalk up to the mountains, do some skiing. During the winter... What do you do?"
"That might be a long walk" he chuckled "I'll need to learn to skip mirrors. It would make my life so much easier... or, y'know, I could learn to drive a car..."
Just because you know how it works, it doesn't mean you're not gonna crash the car on the first day. As for the question...
"Depends" he shrugged "When I'm not training I am either walking Angua, or hangin' out with friends, or... y'know, reading, watching movies, that kinda stuff. Plus there is always somethin' happening around here. Place's full of mutants."
He didn't know how to drive a car. She didn't arch an eyebrow at that, physically, but mentally, that brow couldn't have been higher. Shocking, at his age. He should have had his license by now.
She shook the thought off for a moment, focusing on another question beyond a stunned 'Seriously?'
Amelia nodded her head. Basically, for fun he did all sorts of stuff. And it varied. Basic answer was basic. But then, what should she have expected?
Back to the prior topic of interest, she went.
"You know..." Amelia began innocuously. "I could teach you. How to drive. If you wanted. I've got a permit." Heck, she was practically ready to get her license. And he... wait. Come to think of it... "How old are you, anyways?" Maybe she was wrong. Maybe he wasn't old enough to get one of those licenses right now.
And wait. She recalled having to get signatures from her parents in order to get the permit.
Frick.
She'd momentarily forgotten about his parental situation. Way to be sensitive, Amelia...
She blamed any and all lapses in memory on the fact he'd kissed her recently, and that usually worked as a thought obliterator. It obliterated thoughts.
>>"You know... I could teach you. How to drive. If you wanted. I've got a permit... How old are you, anyways?"
Uh-oh. Here it goes. Gawain had never felt more like an outsider mutant than when it came to driving a car. His mutation made up for most of that... and that fact set him apart from normal people his age more than anything else.
"I'm eighteen..." he smirked "Nineteen in a month. Why, how old are you?"
Way to go, Gawain. Change the topic and find out her actual age, in once smooth question...
Aaaaand he totally didn't even think about the permit stuff or his parents.
Saved. Phew. She could breathe easy.
He was 18. Right about how old she'd figured. And nineteen, next month?
How old was she?
"Seventeen, December 20th. So, your birthday's around November 6th, then?" 'A month' was really specific, but it told her nothing if he was slightly off. She wanted to know what day he wanted his presents. What day she could sign him up for Chuck E. Cheese.
>>"I guess I'm younger than I think I am. Go figure."
"And ditzy," she smiled.
December, not November. Amelia made a note of that. No, literally. As they walked, she pulled out her phone. Her thumb moved across the keyboard, adding the note the Gawain's contact information details.
"Sounds great," she replied, distracted. She'd almost forgot about the bows and arrows. "Jewelry is fine, by the way. For my birthday. What do you want?" She asked, never breaking a sweat, or glancing his way.
>>"Sounds great. Jewelry is fine, by the way. For my birthday. What do you want?"
"Wh..." he blinked. Whoa. Girl did not beat around the bush. Jewelry's fine, huh. He smirked and shook his head. Last time s/he had a birthday... well. he still had the backpack. And the book. And the memories. Sadly, he did not have Twyla. But he was just going to have to deal with that.
"Whatever" he shrugged. "You don't really need to buy me anything."
When they reached his door, he let go of her hand to open it. His room was a mess. As usal. He just hoped he could get in and out without her getting a good look at the disaster zone that was his home...
Amelia turned a sly smirk his way. "That means I will just have to buy more."
They reached his room, and immediately, without preamble, she snuck her way in after him to get a good look. As she figured, it could use a woman's touch. A shocking truth, really, because didn't he have Maya for the woman's work?
>>"Charlotte, huh?... So, that means you currently don't have a roomie?"
"Nope" he shook his head with a smirk "Charlotte was the last one. Well, actually, her name was Megan. We called her Charlotte because she had spiders under her skin. And everywhere around her."
Yeah. It was much more fun than it sounded, Gawain was starting to realize.
"She moved out a few months ago." he explained "I had Speedy before that, but that didn't last either. So until someone else comes along who's cool enough to room with... I'm on my own."
>>"Charlotte was the last one. Well, actually, her name was Megan. We called her Charlotte because she had spiders under her skin. And everywhere around her."
"Sounds like a ray of sunshine," Amelia noted with a smile.
He was on his own.
"I see," she nodded.
Note to self: Develop mutant powers. ASAP.
"You know, it's funny." She arched an eyebrow. "We both have birthdays in the same month. We could practically celebrate at the same party."
