The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Gawain had to suck it up and be a man. At least for a day. (There was a pun in there about growing some parts, but even he was not that cheap) He had to call Ami.
After a day of rolling around in the floor to the background music of F*ck was I, he finally decided to act. He did not call. Mirrorwalkers don't have to, you see. Phone conversations were awkward anyway.
Gawain walked into Ami's toom through the mirror. Now, normally he would have knocked, like a true gentleman (who walks into bedrooms through mirrors), but he had too many things on his mind to pay attention to details.
Until he walked in, that is. Then, there were a lot of details to pay attention to. Oh boy.
Gawain stopped in front of the mirror, and failed at not staring.
She HAD been changing. She HAD just taken a shower and dried off with a towel. She had her clothes set out on the bed for her and HAD been ready to put them on.
Had, had, had. Not any more.
One word. All it took. With a familiar voice. She spun towards a familiar face. Standing by a familiar place. He was standing. And. He was staring.
And she was not wearing much at all.
She had been planning to put something on, but at that moment, all thoughts fled except 'snag towel' and 'kick ass'. Which she did. In the opposite order.
She stalked over to slap Gawain's face furiously, then, while he was recovering from the attack, she turned and wrapped the towel around her tight.
"Jerk," she muttered. "You're lucky I didn't send you to heaven."
A slap. That was all it took, and all was well with the world. He totally deserved that.
Gawain staggered back - damn the girl could swing a bitch slap! - and held his cheek with his hand. Still staring. Girls in towels are hot. Girl in towels who slap you? Oh boy.
>>"Jerk. You're lucky I didn't send you to heaven."
"That's nice of you" he muttered, with a smile tugging at his lips "To think I'd go to heaven, that is."
"Well, you certainly saw it." She tutted. "Not going to ask if it was worth it. What is it you want?"
Her back was still turned to him. She went about messing with her clothes on the bed. Hiding things she didn't want him to see came second-nature.
Amelia was still mad. For many reasons. The fact he hadn't called. The fact she'd had to leave a message with his sister just to get him to come around. The fact he still hadn't called. And that he'd seen her just now. That last one was embarrassing. And that was all the more infuriating.
She wasn't a ball of rage, nope. She was a ball of rage in a towel.
>>"Well, you certainly saw it. Not going to ask if it was worth it. What is it you want?"
"It was worth it" he smirked. A hundred percent honest. It really was worth it. Leave it to Ami to be deadly dangerous and hot at the same time. Not to mention pissed.
Gawain hungs his head.
"I'm sorry I didn't call."
That was... too simple. He knew it was not going to be that easy. Not this time. But you have to start somewhere...
"You should make a habit of it," she stated. "Calling." Although she supposed his walking in on her had rewarded bad behavior. Not her fault.
"What took you?" She glanced over her shoulder at him seriously. "Turn around. And cover the mirror." With what, she did not know. Oh, there was an idea. She reached up and snagged a pillow off her bed. "Catch." She threw the pillow at his face.
Still mad? Yup. But that hadn't been a death throw.
Gawain frowned. That was about as likely as making a habit of being a guy all the time. Sigh.
>>"What took you? Turn around. And cover the mirror."
Gawain turned. The pillow hit him in the back of his head. He picked it up and put it in front of the mirror. Sadly. For today, he was a teenage guy. That came with certain ideas.
"It's... a long story. And complicated." he sighed "Would you let me say that I was just out of town and get away with it?"
Gawain turned, hoping against hope that he would see something nice, but Ami was all dressed. Oh well. She was still nice. Holding on to the pillow, he held it to his chest and looked at her. It was not an easy story to tell.
"It's just... complicated. And you could get in trouble just for knowing about it. And I really, really don't want you to get into trouble because of me."
He looked at her carefully. Maybe she would let him off the hook.
>>"I have a boy in my room right now. Your argument is invalid."
Gawain let out a frustrated growl and walked closer.
"You don't understand. I'm not talking about 'getting grounded' trouble. I am talking about 'getting killed' trouble." he sighed, looking down at her "I have had people get into trouble for me before, and I don't want you to be one of them. I want you to be safe."
Yeah. Like that was gonna happen to a girl like Ami.
The truth huh? Which one?.... Gawain sighed, and shook his head. He almost smiled. Ami really was fearless. Or maybe she was just young.
Gawain decided to tell her te easier one.
"All right. I'll tell you as much as I can. But you have to promise me to stay away from the rest, all right? You will know stuff that people can use against me. Just so you know, I really don't want to tell you. But you kind of deserve to know. So. Last chance to back down." he smirked at her
"All right." he sighed, sitting down onto the bed. "I was in Seattle, looking for my mother."
He paused a little.
"She went missing years ago, but she wouldn't leave me alone like that, so I kind of figured she was in trouble. And I finally had a lead on how to find her. So I went back to Seattle where we used to live, to look for her."
He paused again, hoping Ami would leave it at that.
