The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He tapped the tip of his adorable date's nose, leaving a small paint dot. "I'll see if I have a camera lying around. This would make quite the picture." Nate started pulling open drawers, but he knew he did not own a camera. Photographic evidence was a liability.
During his search, he felt the phone buzz in his pocket. He stealthily took it out, not wanting to give Quin the impression that he was distracted. "Need an answer." It was opportunity texting one last time. He could not procrastinate his choice. He would eventually return to his old life; it was unavoidable, so should he bother waiting?
He looked back into the living room watching Quin at the canvas. Just having her stand around in his apartment, covered in paint made him smile. He looked down at the screen and sighed. "Sorry, can't. Don't text tonight."
He deleted the last few pieces of mail and exited out of his messages. Before he put away his phone, he looked at the menu screen and saw a camera icon. He grinned, feeling slowly drying paint as his cheeks moved. "So I'm a spaceshot I guess. I apparently have a camera phone." He came back to the living room and wrapped an arm around her, holding out the phone with his finger on the capture button. "Smile!"

More paint. This time on her nose. Quin could feel it drying when Nate walked away from her to look for a camera. The picture, she had to admit, was actually pretty cool. Between the contrasting colors they’d chosen, and the handprints that had found their way onto the canvas, the two of them had made something cool.
Nate returned soon enough, commenting that he was silly because he hadn’t thought to use his camera phone. Quin simply grinned and shrugged her shoulders, ”Most of the time I’m convinced that they call them smart phones because of how stupid they make people feel.” she admitted and snuggled in close so Nate could take the picture.
”Lemme see!” the redhead said almost immediately, reaching for the phone so she could see the picture.
He held the phone between them as they checked the picture together. They were thoroughly adorable, covered in colors and smiling from ear to ear, snuggled together. For two well-functioning adults, they looked like high schoolers on a date. "This will definitely be the picture that shows up whenever you call now.
To Nate's chagrin, his phone vibrated in his hand. "New Message: Agent Green." Nate could feel his patience slipping away with a fence he might never speak to again. He requested no reply; breaking a rule like that was against even the conman code. What if he was dealing with the police? Well, technically, he was, but Nate was more upset that the rude fence was running the risk of ruining the best date Nate remembered going on. He groaned, vocalizing his annoyance. "I might kill him. I told him to leave me alone tonight." Nate haphazardly tossed his phone away, letting it bounce off a loveseat and clatter on the floor. "Nothing he could say would be important enough to bother with tonight."
Before the phone was discarded, Nate noticed a couch in the background of the picture. His arm was still around Quin's waist, and the mood was so positive, he made the choice to move back a few steps, taking her with him, until he could pull them both down onto the cushions, sitting closely next to one another. "Would you mind if we just stayed like this for while?" he asked quietly. The couch was near a window, with the light of the moon and city lights peeking through the glass. He had no ulterior motives-- the moment of heat and primal attraction had passed; all he wanted to do was cuddle with Quin.

Quin smiled at Nate. All and all this date had gone pretty well. She’d gotten a couple kisses, and now she was getting a profile picture on his phone. By modern standards that was total success.
The phone vibrated as Quin looked at the picture, and she had to chuckle a little at Nate’s annoyance with the caller. ”That’s the problem with cell phones. People can get to you at any place, at any time. I’ve got the luxury of mine being in my purse, turned off, but you had to have yours on for the picture taking.” She didn’t mind. ”And if it’s a client, maybe you should answer. I don’t want you losing business over me. I really don’t mind…”
The phone was discarded though, and Quin let Nate pull her down onto the couch. Once there, she turned slightly so she could lay her head on his shoulder. His apartment had a great view.
”I think that would be amazing.” she said, and squirmed until she was comfy.
OOC - I think we could probably wrap this one up in the next post, unless you had more planned. Sorry that took so long. I was busy this week and then I got on a Riley kick! Won’t happen again, I swear. Hit me up on AIM if you have any questions.
Nate shook his head. "Don't you worry yourself on my account. Some business ain't worth takin anyway." Honesty-- cryptic honesty, but somehow, giving her a small glimpse into the reality of his life pleased him. He could just picture the joy in her face if she heard the words, "You make me consider giving up crime." Well, maybe not joy. And certainly not yet, at least.
She found the perfect place to nuzzle against him and he relaxed his body, happy with how well she fit next to him. They almost dozed off a couple of times, but as the night got late, she had to leave; unfortunately, her night off did not necessarily mean she had the morning off as well. He walked her back to her apartment, with a quiet, peaceful, hand-holding walk under the glow of streetlamps. There was one last kiss goodnight at her door and he set off on his return trip home, reviewing the date step-by-step in his head. Not even the Peter Incident could wipe the smile from Nate's face.
