The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”Maybe.” she said when Nate pointed out that he might see her on what were hopefully going to be his more frequent jogs. ”I don’t get to jog outside as often as I’d like. My hours are a little sporadic, and I have to make do with what I’ve got available.”
He was a small-time artist who worked mostly on commission and liked the freedom that his work offered. The redhead mused what that must be like for a few moment, then grinned at her new friend. ”Must be nice to have a talent like that. Mine aren’t nearly as interesting.” She was a great shot…and she could fight. Not usually the type of thing you talked about when you first met a guy.
They were nearing the castle now, and Quin had to smile as the parapets came into view. Belvedere castle had been built a long time ago, for absolutely nothing other than to make Central Park even prettier than it already was. Quin realized that her internal monologue was running away with her, and she smiled.
”They made this place just to make the park look prettier. It’s called Belvedere Castle.” Quin said, pointing as the place came into view over the trees.
”There’s a bunch of weather stuff in there now too, and I think there’s some telescopes to look at the rest of the park. Maybe you’ll find some inspiration.”
"Don't give me too much credit; I like to think of myself as a jack-of-all-trades, master of none. Too much credit might make my head swell," he joked. With no false modesty, Stephen knew he was a talented artist mechanically. He could create a solid forgery; his creativity was not as impressive, since most of his time was spent on recreating the ideas of others than coming up with his own, but he could hold his own. "Besides, I'm sure your talents are more interestin than you think; you're just too familiar with them."
The castle was an impressive sight in such a modern area like Central Park and, more specifically, New York. She joked about his artistic inspiration and he grinned. He brought his index fingers and thumbs up to frame the castle, being sure to keep her in the frame. "I definitely see plenty I could work with here."

”I’m sure that’s it.” she said in response to Nate’s commentary on her talents. Quin didn’t need anyone to tell her that they were cool talents, it was just that…
”They’re just not very artistic talents.” The redhead said with a slightly rueful smile, ”Which is odd because I definitely grew up in an environment that encouraged self-expression.”
Nate seemed to like what he saw when the castle came into view and as he framed the scenery, Quin grinned. She knew a thing or two about perspective, and if she could see him through the fame he’d made…
Smooth.
“If you think it’s nice from here, wait til you see it up close.”
Stephen could tell by the grin on the redhead's face that she noticed her placement in his frame. If the flirting was always as fun this early, he would have to start beginning his mornings at dawn.
"I'm sure whatever your talent is fantastic, whatever it may be. Hell, if everyone was the 'artist-type,' I'm pretty sure the world would fall into anarchy. We are pretty terrible at doing anything else," he joked.
As they were almost right at the castle, Stephen asked, "So how close can we get?" It was most likely just an attraction, but as a public treasure, he had the strong urge to scale it. "I'm guessing climbing to the top is probably frowned upon?"

”Mmhm.” Quin said, ready to change subjects when Nate persisted in the fact that her talent had purpose. Sure. Lots of purpose. She could kick ass. All the time. And shoot things. Well. Loads of value there. Honestly though, Quin decided she’d rather flirt.
And flirt she did. Things seemed to be going rather well considering the way the morning had started off, and when Nate asked if climbing the castle was frowned upon, Quin shook her head.
”Where do you think the telescopes I mentioned are? They’re right in the top. C’mon, I hear it’s one of the best views in the park. Definitely something that someone new to New York needs to see.” she said and led the way.
The castles interior was, as Quin had pointed out, now home to a small nature conservatory and weather station that broadcasted the temperature of Central Park all over the city, country, and maybe even the world, but up the stairs in the tallest tower was a small observation area where people could borrow books to bird watch or just enjoy the view.
It was a great view.
”So. Do I know what I’m talking about, or do I know what I’m talking about?” Quin asked when they’d climbed the last step.
OOC – Hope you don’t mind me taking them on up the tower. Lemme know if I need to change anything.
Pleased to find a legal way to the top of the tower that did not involve climbing, Stephen gladly kept pace alongside Quin as they ascended the steps to the observation area. The sight was ideal, as a sort of view that embodied the thrill of a thief's life: all the glory of the world presenting itself and waiting for him.
There was still, however, some glory tucked away next to him in his tower. It was roughly the time to assess his own intentions. She was beautiful--that was obvious enough, but she seemed down to earth. Stephen was more accustomed to jumping from casual one-night stands arranged in bars, but there was no harm in pursuing dates. There was something more entertaining about the idea, much more fitting the "romanticized thief" motif. And so the coy flirtation continues.
Stephen approached the window, resting his hand against the glass, watching as families and little league teams found their places in the park for the morning. "I'll be taking your word from now on. This is a nice way to start the morning. If spending time with you means finding moments like this, maybe it'd be worth keeping you around."

Nate liked the view, and Quin smiled a happy little self-satisfied smile. While he looked out the window, the red-head took a moment to study the view inside the tower. She’d seen the park before, and hadn’t really had a chance to look over her companion. That Nate was good looking, there was no doubt. He was of a height with her, but Quin had gotten over such things as height years ago. (It narrowed the field too much to be picky)
He turned and the red head jerked her eyes away, lest he realize she was staring. Nate spoke, and when he said that maybe he ought to keep her around, Quin’s eyebrows rose nearly to her hairline.
”Maybe?” she said, with a mild scoff in his general direction.
”Well maybe I ought to find a more grateful tourist to show the sights.” she added, wondering if the fact that she was grinning took away from the effect of her scolding.
Propping a shoulder against the wall next to the window, Quin decided to give him a chance at redeeming himself.
"Or you could just admit that I'm the best tour guide ever."
Stephen did his best not to break out into a smirk as she chided him for his indecisiveness. It did not help that she was grinning already, but she wore it so well, he did not mind playing along. "How rude of me; 'course you're the best."
Stephen leaned his back against the wall to look at Quin, who despite the natural splendor of it, was still more intriguing than the sights of New York. "If it'd make up for it, would the best tour guide in New York maybe be interested in dinner? I'd hate to leave you thinking us Southern boys are ungrateful."

Smart man. He knew when to cave. Quin added another point to the “Pro’s” column and kept right on smiling. There were lots of those pro’s in that silly column and no negatives so far. Things were looking promising. Very promising.
A dinner proposal was made, and the redhead laughed to hide her extreme pleasure at the offer, pony tail swinging as she shook her head. ”It would be horrible if you ruined my perception of an entire subset of American Culture.” Quin admitted with mock solemnity.
”So, I’m just going to have to take you up on your offer.”
It was fun playing with Quin; she was clever and ever so coy. "I'm glad I've earned a second chance. Guess I'll have to be a proper Carolina Gentleman now." More than happy to play up his new role, he reached out for her hand and pulled it closer, kissing it as if in courting. Because that was what it felt like; silly, fun courtship. "So I suppose it's a date, then?" He could not help it; his smile was almost ear to ear at this point.
"You know, it is still far too early for dinner, and I'd love to have the best tour guide ever do a bit more guiding." Stephen looked back to the stairs. "Shall we head off to your next spot?" Maybe a nice quiet place, away from prying eyes, where he could become better acquainted with those welcoming lips and freckled skin. Hey, he planned on taking things slowly with Quin, but his mind was allowed to stray on occasion.

Well Lah-de-dah. Quin had a flashback of the time she’d watched Gone With the Wind with her parents as Nate grabbed her hand and kissed it. He was doing well, she hadn’t even had a momentary urge to pull her hand back, and her cheeks were curiously pink. Quin played it off though, and grinned, ”It’s a date…and, you’re off to a good start.” she pointed out.
He wanted to see another spot, and Quin made a show of tapping her lips with a finger while she thought. Where was she going to take him? There were lots of cute little spots, but she didn’t want to go anywhere too cliché.
”I know of a pretty lake.” Quin said, ”If you’re interested in more scenery. It’s by 102nd st.”
Stephen smiled from ear to ear; he loved the water, and he had nothing but pleasant memories regarding lakes. "I'm interested in sitting lakeside with a lovely redhead, so I suppose we should be on our way to 102nd."
As they left the castle, he looked to Quin's cheeks. They matched her fair complexion again, but he was certain he noticed a change while they were up in the observation area. "So judging by that blush you treated me too up there, city boys don't usually kiss a gal's hand, do they?"

Was she used to guys kissing her hand? ”No…not at all actually.” Quin said. She was used to guys deciding she was useless because she was a woman, then deciding she was one of the guys when she disproved the first theory. It was nice for things to be a little different for a change, and if her cheeks had darkened a bit…well so be it.
They were heading towards what was commonly known as “The Pool” . To be more specific, the giant weeping willow at the Pool. Quin loved that spot, whether it was just for a chance to read, or pretend that she was somewhere away from the city. When you were sitting in the shade under that tree, you couldn’t see the tops of the buildings that loomed over the park, and until someone started honking their horn you could almost forget. The moment never lasted long, but still…
It didn’t take too long to walk, and Quin was delighted to see that her spot wasn’t occupied. ”Here we go.” she said, stopping a little ways off and gesturing. Quin was curious. Would Nate see value in the same things she did?
”What do you think?” she asked, hands on her hips.
Northern boys made life so much easier for Southern gentlemen; courtship had by and large fallen by the wayside in modern life, so Stephen was a nice change of pace.
The sight of a gorgeous, giant willow instigated a warm smile in the Carolina boy. Before the bizarre reality that was his life overtook him, a more naive teenage and his first girlfriend left cliche initials carved in a tree just like the willow by Quin's pond. Despite his lovely guide surrendering the lead, Stephen's legs continued on instinct, leading him the a grassy spot under the shade of the willow's branches.
She wanted his opinion? He was excited to be honest with the lass for once. "It's...ideal. Thank you," he said warmly. He patted the spot next to him on the grass, looking out at the pond's surface. "You aren't gonna leave me sitting alone, are you, hun?"

Yet another test passed. Quin was honestly impressed and followed Nate as he made his way to the willow tree she’d sat under so many times. He had good taste in scenic spots, the redhead decided as she followed, and it had nothing to do with the fact that it was her favorite spot. She looked out over the wather and sighed a happy little sigh. Yup, it was how exactly how she remembered.
Nate patted the ground and Quinn shook her head as she plopped down on the ground next to him. ”Of course not.” she said. ”What kind of tour guide would I be if I abandoned you now?”
There was a few moments of silence then, and Quin simply appreciated the view and the company.
”It’s almost possible to forget you’re in the middle of the city.” she said after a moment, echoing her earlier thoughts to see what her companion had to say.
