The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

ooc: ok guys, so long as it's ok with you I'm going to use Naveed's powers a bit. I'll PM if anything comes up but until you all start posting I dont exactly know what i'll be doing, haha.. for now it's going to be just random "speak" "shut up" move" kind of commands. Anything you dislike will be completley edited out.
p.s: Son, that was a GREAT post.
ic:
Naveeds blood was boiling in his skin as the woman hailed a cab. She seemed completley content to lead him to Rupert which made him happy he had used his abilities even if it was out of anger. During the drive over he was mentally trying to calm himself. He wouldn't find out anything about Raina and her state if he killed this Rupert upon entering his home and Naveed needed that information.
The ride was finally over and Naveed followed Theresa up the steps to the apartment trying to calm his breathing the entire way. He could smell Raina before the door even opened. This infuriated him. He was hoping that on some fluke this would be the wrong person- but her scent was everywhere. He felt a pit in his stomach and as he became angrier his senses hightened and he heard the shuffling of feet and paws from inside.
The doors opened and Theresa was explaining things as far as his ability would allow and then as she started to come to her senses she decided to run for it. "Freeze." he growled low enough for her to hear. He wasn't sure if she did hear him, but if she did keeping her frozen like a statue would at least keep the authorities from being alerted until the screaming started.
he was going to tear this man limb from limb.
As Theresa pulled back and the young man about his own age appeared in the door Naveed pounded his way through the tiny door frame and stood loomingly tall over Rupert who he picked up by the shoulders and slammed into the nearest wall with fiery red intent in his eyes tracking snow and muck into the room.
Everything happened in seconds and though Rupert woudln't have known Naveed was Raina's brother unless Theresa said something- he'd be likely to think this grisly looking man was older than he was and perhaps her father.
"Tell me" he comanded barking into the man's face with an expression of intense anger. "What did you do to my sister Raina?!"
He was holding the man- Rupert- off the ground so that his feet dangled in mid air. He was breathing with huge gasps and flared nostrils- like a mighty lion attacking an outsider. His chest was puffed out in a way that would make Griffen see what a man really looked like when he was intimidating.
OOC: I'm assuming Naveed's power doesn't work on people who don't understand english? Like puppies!
IC: Oh. Now he was being carried away, towards the door. That knocking was irritating. Ooh, he's opening the door!
Crapcrapcrapcrap!! Large scary thing! Wallace chose this moment to leave, and leapt away from Thing 1, and skidded back to his hiding spot under the sofa, where he put his front paws over his head and made puppy-y type whiney noises.

((ooc: Fire away with the commands, Raina. I trust you. If anything makes me uncomfortable about them, I’ll send you a PM, pronto—if you don’t hear from me, assume I’m okay with anything you’ve done!
And second Raina’s vote, Sonya—that was a very good post. Heh. Way to work with the mind control, dear.))
The woman’s words were not what Rupert was expecting. He didn’t know what he was expecting, but he did know that wasn’t it. Then, before his mind had even processed them, there was an angry violent mutant in his apartment shoving him against his own wall so hard that his head whipped back. He could only blink dumbly for the first few moments, as his sight refocused past the sudden rush of blackness he’d felt, onto the person who was far too close to his face for comfort.
Not NYPD, was Rupert’s first coherent thought; it came with a wash of relief that he tried to keep off of his face. That wasn’t very hard to do, since the man’s words were sinking in:
"Tell me: What did you do to my sister Raina?!"
Well, I’m fucked up and down, was Rupert’s second coherent thought. It was alarmingly cheerful. It wasn’t a point up for debate: he was fucked. Sideways, too.
He’d thought a lot about what he’d done to Raina, recently. That is probably why when his mind involuntarily gave up its answer through his mouth, it gave it... quite completely.
“Well, I met her one morning, had lunch with her, took her out for dinner, and slept with her that night.”
I hope that woman got away. Nice of her to give me that warning. A little late, but still nice of her. Wonder how she knew where I lived.
“Apparently that got her knocked up, go figure. But I didn’t know that when I shot her.”
Mind control feels... a lot like being awake after getting a rag full of chloroform shoved into your face.
“Tranquilizer gun! I shot her with a tranquilizer gun.” It seemed like a very important clarification, considering he was talking to the mind-controlling mutant who had him pinned against a wall, and looked... a lot like an angry bear, actually. He appreciated that fact, in a surreal sort of way. Is that what he’d looked like during all his zealotous rantings? No wonder Emerald had nicknamed him Grizzly. Feeling a little disconnected from reality? Naw, not Rupert.
This cannot end well. On the bright side, Ian should be out the window by now. He was a good kid. Hopefully he's not the stupid, prone-to-heroics type.
“Apparently the tranq gun caused our child to abort, but I only learned that after the nurse called me from the camps. Technically speaking, I didn’t lock her in the camps.”
I’m not going to say it, I’m not going to—I’m not kidding anyone.
“Because technically, I left that lying bitch on the floor after I shot her, and just walked away. Someone else tossed her into the truck. I just bagged her.”
...I said it.
“And now, I’m going to knee her older brother in the stomach.”
He didn’t feel any compulsive urge to keep digging himself deeper, so... yes, stomach-kneeing time. Let’s see if his kneecap was faster than a freak’s orders.
(( OOC: hope nobody minds my posting out-of-order, especially since we don't really have an order.
Also, Raina, it's all fine -- just go ahead and use Naveed's power on Sonya however is IC, and if I have a problem with it OOC I'll let you know and we can fix it then, but I find it unlikely.
Question, though: how long do Naveed's commands last if they don't have a natural end-point?))
> "Freeze!"
Sonya gets about five feet down the hall before Naveed's shouted order reaches her, and she stops short with one foot on the floor before momentum sends her toppling forward, folding around her outstretched arm and not-quite-screaming with the pain in her wrist.
Damn, she thinks once the immediate pain subsides. I thought he had to make eye contact, like Dracula. No such luck. Fortunately for Sonya, the "freeze" command doesn't seem to preclude her from doing things other than moving, which includes healing her wrist. Which is helpful in many ways, especially the not-being-in-pain ways, but doesn't help with the whole seeing-what's-going-on thing.
On the other hand, it doesn't prevent her from hearing the proceedings from inside the room. Dogs (plural!!!) barking. Things getting knocked around. And Rupert's summary of his, er, troubled relationship with Raina.
Some of that Sonya had already known, but the pregnancy and miscarraige were news, and between that and the "I just bagged her" comments, she finds herself briefly uncertain which of the two men she most wants to watch being battered bloody. Lord knows they both deserve it.

ooc: haha you're both hilarious, and Son, after Navi gains control of himself again I'll be sure he tells you to release! Navi wasn't specific when he told her how long to freeze, so it can wear off whenever you choose or if you'd like to wait for one reply from Rupert and one more from Navi after that I'll be sure he releases her then. anyway, all up to you!
ic: no wait ooc again, lol because i dont even know where to start! *thinks* ok haha lol
ic:
Naveed had the man shoved as far into the wall as he could and through his anger outburst he really was trying despretly to keep his head so he could weed out the important information about where Raina was. It wasn't working too well...
<i>“Well, I met her one morning, had lunch with her, took her out for dinner, and slept with her that night.”</i>
Naveed was slackjawed for a moment. Sure, he wanted to know what Rupert did to his sister but Theresa had him thinking there was less to it. Much less.
Of course, this infuriated him and thinking this was all Rupert was going to say Naveed was carefully thinking about what his next order would be when Rupert was apparently not finished spilling...
<i>“Apparently that got her knocked up, go figure. But I didn’t know that when I shot her.”</i>
That was too much for Naveed. If the statement before it was more then he could handle- this was like having a cartoon anvil dropped on his head. He stared at Rupert in disbelief trying to register the words as his grip momentarily losened. But Rupert wasn't finished yet...
<i>"Tranquilizer gun! I shot her with a tranquilizer gun.” </i>
Naveed was starting to comprehend and a low growl started in his throat.
"You inpregnated and then shot my little-" but he didn't get a chance to express his rage when Rupert chimed in again... this Canary just didn't stop singing.
<i>“Apparently the tranq gun caused our child to abort, but I only learned that after the nurse called me from the camps. Technically speaking, I didn’t lock her in the camps.”</i>
It was at this point that Naveed dropped Rupert to his feet. Could this man really be saying what he thought he was saying? Was this really true or some ellaborate ruse? His body began to ache with dread at the thought of this man touching Raina let alone killing and unborn child inside his sister.
His sister didn't seem so little anymore. But he knew it coudln't have been her fault. Raina was too young and pure. She would not have chosen this, it had to have been his doing. again he was ready to bark a new command when Rupert spoke up again
<i> “Because technically, I left that lying bitch on the floor after I shot her, and just walked away. Someone else tossed her into the truck. I just bagged her.”</i>
Concern for Raina left his face and was replaced with a white streak of anger. His eyes wide, his nostrils flared he gripped Rupert by the throat and began to lift him off the floor still pressed against the wall. He started to think...
he could get away with it. He could kill another. He'd done it before and this world would be a better place without someone like this. and raina, poor Raina. When he broke her out she'd have to live with shame if this man still walked the earth. He squeezed his hand tighter when Rupert spoke one last time
<i>And now Im going to kick her older brother in the stomach </i>
He'd heard the words but by the time they registered the wind was being knocked out of him. With a hand still latched around Rupert's neck he tossed the man across the room into a table causing everything to go flying. He started descending on him walking like a serial killer in a slow motion kill scene, or perhaps a gun man in an old western. Rupert had said everything he'd done to Raina and that part of Naveed's control was now over. He forgot momentarily about the woman frozen outside.
"Raina.' he growled casting a shadow long across the room. "She is a <i>princess</i>" he spat. "She was <i>pure!</i>" His heavy footsteps seemed to echo in the room. "You wern't even fit to lay a hand on her!" he cried kicking over a chair and knocking over an innocent potted plant. "she is a godess among you human fools and deserves to rule you all!" his skinw as burning with anger and his thoughts were flooded with Raina.
He looked down at this small human creature and for a moment reflected on just how fragile their life was. He could end this man's life right now. He could tell him to shoot himself. He could tell his heart to explode in his chest. There were so many ways he could kill this fragile life.
But Raina's face was haunting him. Her jet black hair (she dyed it when she left) and her water filler gray eyes. If he killed this man here and now he may not be able to get to Raina. He didn't know where the camps were, and he knew as much as he could just order everyone around it would be riskier for Raina if he launched and outright attack. Naveed suddenly felt like he didn't know what to do so he decided on one last order.
"Tell me..." he started again fearing that this order would bring on more trouble than the last. "why should I not kill you here and now?" at least this way he could know the man's heart. If it was black, he'd kill him and find some other way to save Raina, but if there was the slightest chance- then in his sister's young memory he'd let the man live... for now. Despite his unruling anger... he really just wanted to help Raina and anyone could see that he was a ball of confliction.
Ian's reason had snapped. He couldn't think straight anymore all he heard was yelling and crashing. Each new sound registered as one step closer to him being taken away. Taken away like a bird in a pet shop, taken away to be locked up in a cage. He couldn't stand that thought. Images of brutality, screaming, and steel bars began to rush through his head. It took his entire will to keep from screaming himself. He couldn't take the thought of being capture and in his paniced state the window above him didn't register. No, the window was a trap there were more of them outside it waiting for him. The door was his only way out and the only way to do that was to go through the people in the next room, or die trying.
"Your not gonna take me you sick sadists."
Spreading his wings out as far as they could go he began to run forward in a beserk state. He knocked the door out of his way and ran into the next room. The momentum of his run actually caused him to take flight soaring a couple of inches maybe a foot of the apartment floor. He didn't see Rupert and another man fighting. All he saw was stalker bots and their keepers coming to take him away.
"Take this you monster!"
He lashed out at the nearest bot, the man attacking Rupert, trying to hit him with a punch carried by his own flight and forward momentum. Yes he was going out the door or he was going to die trying.

This was not right! Not right at all! Wallace scooted out the other side of the sofa, in time to see Bird come flying out. Seeing an escape, he slid through the door, skidding to a halt in the new room. He saw a bed, and scooted underneath it. He stayed there, paws on his head, shivering. Not right!
> "She is a princess! She was pure! You weren't even fit to lay a hand on her! > She is a goddess among you human fools and deserves to rule you all!"
I was with you until that last one, dude, Sonya thinks from her increasingly uncomfortable position on the hallway floor. Raina had seemed like a nice enough girl, but her big brother was kinda pushing it with the whole 'goddess among human fools' thing. Idolizing your little sister is one thing, but there are limits.
Of course, if he's another one of these mutant supremacist types, maybe he doesn't count me among the 'human fools.' On consideration, she's not sure that's any better... bigotry is bigotry. On the other hand, if there's going to be bigotry, better to have it on your own side.
> "Tell me, why should I not kill you here and now?"
Oh, this should be good. Perversely, being paralyzed in the hallway makes it more difficult to take this whole situation seriously than it might otherwise be: Sonya suspects she would be laughing right now if she were able to.
> "You're not gonna take me, you sick sadists. Take this, you monster!"
What the -- who was that?!? The voice is male, young, and unfamiliar, clearly coming from inside the apartment, and Sonya wishes she could turn around and look inside as it's followed by the sounds of violence. Who isn't going to take who? Who is this guy, whose side is he on, and what on God's green earth was he doing in Rupert's apartment?

Naveed turned his attention to the young mutant approaching him- leaving his gaze from Rupert for a moment. He was caught off guard at first worrying that perhaps the young Theresa from earlier had indeed escaped and alerted the authorities... but then he realised this had come from within the tiny apartment already. After he realised it was nothing then a meere adolescent he noticed the wings.
He was in awe for a moment. What power he'd have if this boy was under his control! The elders would have no choice but to bow down to him. He realised instantly that this boy was about to get in the way so he decided on another order "THERESA" he yelled. "You can now move. Move here and hold this boy out of my way while I wait for Rupert's answer." now, that was a specific command but not as specific as it could be- Naveed was too focused on getting an answer from Rupert to worry about loop holes. He was starting to feel like a wolf backed into a corner and when you back a wild animal into a corner- they bite.
ooc: So Son I tried to make that one as open as possible if you're still cool with. Rupe knows now that Griffen must be a mutant and he's not sure if his abilities will work on him so he wont risk it. But Theresa can now control her body and has her free will- and once Rupert answers the question she can do whatever she pleases. Also, she can only hold griffen back as much as her own physical strength will allow.
PM me if no good! Im just trying to make sure Griffen gets included.

He was airborne, there was a crack as the table gave way, then—and only then—did his shoulder turn into a fiery throb where it had hit the table first. He nearly got a thought in, before a set of black wings was flying across his apartment in one direction, and a black puppy was running for its life in the other.
Somewhere in there, a potted plant died, and another command lodged itself in Rupert’s brain: “Tell me... why should I not kill you here and now?"
Probably, the man was looking for an answer that involved his sister and some sort of heartfelt repentance. Rupert wasn’t quite at that cognitive level. His shoulder hurt, and between this man, Ian, and the dogs, they were making a hell of a lot of noise. Too much noise. This was an apartment building, not an abandoned warehouse.
He tried to sit himself back up. A flash of pain made him think better of it. His answer was spoken while he leaned back against the busted table: “If I don’t make some calls to the station in the next few seconds, there are going to be beat officers raining down on all our heads. The Central Park Precinct is three blocks from here, they’ll recognize my address when it gets called in, and chances are good they'll assume mutants are involved and send Stalkers, too--me being a zealot isn't the best kept secret on the force, and niether is the fact that I'm supervising at the camps now. I can’t let Ian get locked up, too. I can’t let anyone else get thrown in that place.” Unless they deserve it, his mind was adding. The order asked for why he shouldn’t be killed, though.
(( OOC: Navi - all the mind-control stuff is fine. You should probably include some reaction to Griff's punch, though, don't you think? Being hit by it, dodging it, whatever? ))
> "Teresa! You can now move. Move here and hold this boy out of my way while I wait for Rupert's answer."
Well, that solves one problem, thinks Sonya as she climbs to her feet and heads back to the apartment, though not so much helping with the 'getting the hell out of here' plan. It occurs to her that perhaps she could ignore the command altogether -- after all, she isn't really Teresa, now is she? -- but she doesn't want to give that fact away, and there's no easy way for her to tell the difference between a command she is forced to follow and one she chooses to, and she doesn't have a lot of time to experiment. Mind control, she repeats to herself, is weird.
In any case, she figures it can't hurt to take a peek into the apartment. Running away hadn't worked all that well, perhaps shooting the jerk when he's distracted with Rupert would work better. Or, well, maybe not shooting him -- then she'd have to explain why she's carrying around police hardware, which would get awkward -- but hitting him with a lamp or something. That always works on television.
Or maybe cutting out the middle man and hitting him with a television would be better.
In fact, she ends up not having to decide. Instead, she reaches the apartment doorway in time to collide with an adolescent boy and a pair of truly remarkable wings as the collection attempts to burst into the hallway... which makes the question of whether she's following Naveed's command rather moot, since Wings isn't exactly in the jerk's way to begin with. It becomes further moot when she finds herself tangled up in a collision of wings and arms and legs and, annoyingly, back on the hallway floor when her attempt to extricate herself interacts poorly with Ian's attempt to do the same, resulting in an ineffectually flailing assortment of limbs worthy of a Marx Brothers routine.
"Dude, will you calm all the way down, please? I'm not going to hurt you -- I don't even know you!"
(( OOC: Griff -- I'm assuming here that you get past Naveed and you're still trying to get away, as per your post? Let me know if that's wrong and I'll edit. ))
Ian fought more for his life than he had ever done in the sixteen years of his life. He wasn't going to be caught not now or ever. He would make sure of that no matter what it took. He had made it to the door in a rather akward way and was now struggling with a keeper to escape.
"Dude, will you calm all the way down, please? I'm not going to hurt you -- I don't even know you!"
This comment barely punctured the panic induced madness. But Ian didn't compute as someone trying to calm him down to help. Instead he computed it as a ploy for him to calm down so they could cuff him and through him in the truck. Fat chance of that happening.
"Sure you don't know me but I'm a mutant. That's all you people think about isn't it? Lets bag the freaks and through them into camps so we can slowly kill them off. Well I'm not going and you can bet your money on that."
In his paniced state, Ian tried to take flight only to realize he was still tangled with this unknown attacker. Crashing to the floor he began to army crawl, or something slightly resembling it, to get away. After awile he managed to untagle himself and was making his way down the hallway at a crawl, yet to realize that he once again had the use of his wings.
"Screw you and screw your stupid camps! Thanks for the invitation but I'm not planning to attend!"

ooc: eeps sorry! I musta read too fast and missed the part where he threw a punch. I guess since we're just going we can assume he avoided it or something. Sorry there!
ic:
Chaos. There was chaos going on around him. Naveed was reminded of his time in the park when the pidgeons were bouncing off him. Yup, that's exactly what this was like. To be honest, it was starting to calm him down a bit. He may have almost laughed- if it wasn't for the fact that he knew Raina was in a camp somewhere.
Rupert was not responding well to his command and this just made Naveed angrier. Perhaps the man himself thought he should die! Or maybe his response was being lost in the chaos around them. Were there dogs now? He could smell animals.
It was all becoming very overwhelming very quickly. He was getting angrier and angrier thinking about his poor sister. "EVERYBODY QUIET!" he yelled so loud a car alarm started to go off in the street. He turned on the kid with the wings. "do YOU know where the camps ARE?" he spat hearing the man's speech about not going there.
Ian froze and all traces of panic was erased from his mind. All he thought now was the compelling need to answer the man's questions. Why did he need to answer his questions so badly. He didn't know this guy but yet he couldn't shake the thought of answering. So he did the only thing he could do.
"No I have absolutely no idea where the camps are. All I have heard was that they were bad and a place I obviously don't want to go to."
After that he shut his mouth. That what was going through his head now. All his mind was telling him was to be quiet and nothing else. He could probably run away but he no longer needed to run. His panic had been erased he could see clearly now. He could also see that the person he had just been struggling with was just a girl nothing more. The bot was the man giving orders and there was Rupert lying on the floor. He floded his wings across his back and waited for what was going to happen.

Naveed rubbed his temples in an exsaperated way. This was becoming more headache than it was worth and he still wanted to kill Rupert. He didn't like that he was losing it and everyone was following his orders though it was a bit convienient it was hard to follow. He stood still for a moment and instead of ordering he simply said "ok, you can talk now." his whole body seemed to deflate as he put a hand to his head. "I just want to find my sister." he pleaded. "after you" he spat at Rupert. 'She obviously needs me"
