The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Fiona smiled as goosebumps rose along her shoulders when Hunter put his arm around her. Thinking about his question, she frowned.
"I've given the future beyond controlling myself no thought once so ever."
The sentence resonated through her mind as she she couldn't believe she was telling the truth. Looking up at Hunter, the fear was evident in her eyes. "Is that terribly naive of me?" she asked, and looked away.
Hunter smiled back at her, “Don’t worry, you’ll find your way. When the pat you want to travel presents itself, you’ll walk along it, whether you know you are or not.” He suddenly realised how old that sounded, he was showing his age. “That’s what my dad keeps telling me anyway,” he covered smoothly, “You’ll be alright in the long run.”
“So tell me about your family, any brothers or sisters?”
Fiona nodded at what Hunter said to her. "Your dad is a very wise man." she said, and relaxed against him. She couldn't believe that she was already becoming attatched to this guy and she had only known him for a few hours.
"Well, I'm an only child. Never had any siblings, although my parents tried and tried time again. My father is sort of sad though as the Ciapercelli name dies with me." she giggled. "My parents are wonderful people though, albeit eccentric. And you? What's your family like?"
Hunter recalled the lie that he had formulated for the question years ago, reciting it perfectly without a hint of misdirection in his voice. “I never knew my mother, she died in childbirth. I was raised by my dad, a true eccentric millionaire. He was the one who got me into all the physical activities that I do, and I started most of them at around six. On my eighteenth birthday he declared that I had come of age and handed ownership of all three companies to me. After that, he retired and has been living out his days on a remote island, enjoying his fishing.”
“I sail over and see him every couple of years, but he keeps telling me to go and live my own life and to stop bothering him.” Hunter smiled, as if fondly remembering, but actually because of the skill with which he just weaved the web of lies that place him as a twenty three year old son of a millionaire, as opposed to a four hundred and thirty seven year old man who has built up his entire fortune himself over the centuries.
Fiona giggled as she heard of Hunter's eccentric father. "He sounds wonderful, I would love to meet him someday. From the things you've told me, you seem like you had a good childhood, and that makes me glad. Most people have had horrible ones nowadays... But I'm always going to be proud of the fact that yes, I'm a little too innocent, but at least I was a happy camper as a kid."
Looking at Hunter's face, she noticed that his skin was some of the smoothest and most perfect skin she had seen in a long while. Fiona studied his eyes next, and how they seemed to catch the light in their silvery midst.
"You're beautiful." she said, an amused expression on her face.
Hunter chuckled in his head when she mentioned meeting his father. Then she told him he was beautiful and he was briefly at a loss for words. No one had told him that since Katherine, and the words struck a chord. Quickly regaining his composure he looked back into her eyes. So innocent, so sincere.
“So are you”, he replied, and then lent forward to kiss her.
Fiona hadn't felt this way since the last man in her life, Darrien. Looking up, she met his lips with hers and felt a culmination of butterflies and nerves and giggles and all sorts of things that are pretty much incomprehensible to the rational mind. She didn't know how long she stayed there in his arms, but she knew she hoped she could stay there forever.
Separating from him, she looked at him, her face inches away from his. "What just happened?" she asked, and burst into a fit of giggles.
"I'm sorry," she tried to say with the giggles bombarding her unrelentlessly, "But I haven't had something like this happen to me in a long while. I don't know what to think of it."
She knew she seemed like a child, and she hoped that it didn't put him off as she kissed his cheek lightly.
Hunter smiled her laughter infectious. While he found her company gratifying, he strengthened the wall around his heart. If he fell for her as he did Katherine then, when she was ravaged by time and he flew into a bloody rage, he may not survive, as slaughter on the scale that it was last time would not go unnoticed. He told himself that she was a whim, a temporary fancy.
“Do you always giggle when someone kisses you, or is that a response unique to me?”
Fiona looked at him happily as she listened to his question. Laughing to herself now a more subdued laugh she looked at him, sheer contentment in her face.
"Actually, it's just you, really. Last time I was kissed it was by a pissed off ex-girlfriend, and well, I don't think I laughed once then."
Laughing again, she rested her head on the nice curve of his chest and closed her eyes, her breathing falling lightly on his skin.
((First, might I apologize, again, my computer has been temporarily out of order. Secondly, I want to say that Calley's post almost made me cry with laughter. That was really funny, I could just imagine your character doing that. Thirdly might I just point out that this thread has become a duet... maybe we could slow things down a little bit for those of us that are unable to get on the computer quite so frequently. It was interesting to see all those duet posts and then Ted Thorn's randomly squeezed in. So let's make sure that no one feels left in the dust, oki-day? {Hope that didn't sound mean of me, no ill-intentions}))
Post: "Right, showering. You do need to touch water for that. Good thing you shower. So that whole cat bath thing doesn't work for you?" Her conversation with this fellow mutant was always fun because Nika seemed very nice and her feline personality and similarities made it fun to discuss, Fade just hoped she wasn't leaving out Kesuk.
"I like the water, I feel weightless, but I can't swim, so I go in the shallow side, pull up my legs and try and float and after I'm done, I will sunbath. Nothing wrong with getting a tan, huh? Plus, feeling the sun dry your back feels very nice."
Watching the brave Calley walk over to the noise emitting from that box, Fade's ADD interest was perked and she watched intently while still holding on a conversation with Nika. "Yeah, tell him, Calley, my hero." She...well...I will have to say it, Fade...giggled... but not in TOO girly of a way.

Iris rolled her eyes as Calley and Jason faced off. What was about men that made them feel they have to confront each other?
Shaking her head, she took seat on nearby picnic table. "Can't say I like the song," she told Jason, raising her voice to be heard over the music, "but it definately fits. Got anything less... um... less...." She scrunched up her face as she faltered for the right word. She couldn't find it. "Um, just....got anything else?"
Her attention wandered as several newcomers arrived, one a bit on the lanky side, who made a beeline for the water, and another with a more commanding presence. He and Fiona seemed to hit it off at once. Since everyone seemed to be focused either on food or the....music....she guessed that was music..... Iris made her way back to the pool. She waved hello to the guy in the water, then dangled her feet over the side and listened to Nika and Jenny talk, though she didn't join in.
OOC: Sorry guys, I hadn’t realised we’d done quite that many posts
IC: He smiled at her answer, hiding his surprise at the mention of an ex-girlfriend. When she rested her head on his chest he simply held her, and looked out at the others in and around the pool. Some, like the girl with cat ears and a tail, were clearly mutants, and he wondered many others were.
He let his mind wonder to what it would be like to drink the cat girl’s blood. Though he suspected that he would just receive increased agility, like a cat, but what if he got more. He might grow a tail, or have his ears change. If he was going to sample her he would have to make sure that no one saw him for a few hours, so it had time to ware off, just incase hi appearance changed.
Looking towards where a radio was blasting out sound that could only be considered music in the vaguest sense of the word. The two guys were still arguing, and he briefly considered going over and changing the station himself, but disregarded that thought. Instead he simply relaxed, feeling Fiona’s breath on his skin.
Ted turned onto his back and closed his eyes, he was happy to just float and let the sun dry off what parts of him were above the water. He opened his eyes at the sound of small splashing behind him, and glanced over to see someone dangling their legs in the water. He swam over to them. "Hi, I'm Ted." He levered himself onto the edge of the pool next to her, "and who are you?"
Fiona sat pleasantly at Hunter's side when she all of a sudden sat up. She crossed her legs indian-style once more beside him, and propped her head up on her left arm. She had an expression of thoughtfulness on her face as she thought about all the events that had just happened. Looking to Hunter, she let out her biggest issue with the moment.
"Erm... I know that this sounds weird but... Do you feel any different towards me?" she said, as she quickly suppressed any power that might have been flowing freely.
She concentrated hard on just cutting off the electricity that connected them, and simply being an average person. Much to her dismay, she had realized as she relaxed that her powers had been running free much of the afternoon. There was a great possibility that the effect with Hunter was nothing but a display of just what her powers could accomplish. Looking at him questioningly, she waited.
Hunter turned to look at Fiona as she sat cross legged. She must be attempting to suppress her powers, so see whether this is real. He had to stop himself from smiling, for with the amount of lies that he’d told this was far from real. Looking within himself he felt the walls around his heart strengthen, but there were still some tiny cracks in it. Her power seemed to only augment the natural effect she was having on him. While glad to have regained the majority of his control, he did wonder what he was letting himself in for.
Smiling warmly he said “No change, I’m not quite sure what I’m feeling, but it hasn’t changed.” That response gave him some distance, while not breaking away from her. He would need to proceed cautiously with her, for her powers could undo him before he knew what had happened.
