The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

I blushed, but hey, at least it was a happy blush. “That’s what every guy likes to hear.” I gave a little wave to the other girls, and then trailed like a puppy after the pretty little mermaid to the bar. I swear I didn’t watch her butt on the way, except for that one glance that I’m pretty sure she didn’t notice. And in any case, it’s not like she’s got anything to be ashamed of.
I’m beet red, aren’t I?
"So, do you like the water?"
“It feels great, doesn’t it? Here, let me get those.” I took three of the drinks off her hands. “You certainly were fun to watch.” I made that weird hiccup noise again. My voice box hates me. But it wasn’t my fault: I swear, she was looking me over. “I mean, you certainly looked like you were in your element. Are you a professional swimmer? Me, I swim about as well as a lemming with a rock strapped to its back.”
We headed back to the other ladies. This was the best pool ever, by the way; I believe that Iris had said I was "outnumbered", but I can assure you I wasn't minding. A lady whose name I hadn't heard climbed out of the pool in kind of a weird way, though don't ask me what was weird about it. It was silly, but I could have sworn she just walked up the pool's side. "Thank you, Calley, is it? My name is Jenny."
"It's a pleasure to meet you." I said sincerely, handing out another drink to Iris and keeping one for myself.

Iris lazily moved back to the waterfall, braced herself against the wall and let the water wash over her for a bit.
"Tell you the truth, I can't swim, I was never taught how. I love the feeling, I feel weightless and empty of my problems, but I just can't emerge myself in the water, I would sink."
Iris pushed out and away again, rubbing away the water in her grey eyes, and smiled at the redhead. "It is calming, isn't it? And no worries about not swimming. Sometimes the best part is just being able to relax and laze around in it."
When Calley and Fiona returned she also made her way to the edge of the pool and accepted one of the glasses from Calley. The cool liquid sent goosebumps up her arms. "Mmmm! Yummy! Thank ye kindly." She smiled greatfully at him. Her gaze wandered toward the volley ball net. She hoped that, eventually, enough people would arrive to start a game.
A couple more women arrived as well as a cat. This place must be popular in the summer time. Syn smiled as Fiona Popped up out of the water in front of her and told her how nice the water was. Then she listened to the woman introduce herself to a red haired girl wearing a black swim suit. Syn smiled and slipped into the water.
Swimming her way over to the red head she smiled as shw got closer. "I love your choice of colors." Syn pointed at the girls hair adn then her garments. Then another girl approached the pool. This was getting to be like Maxim Magazine photo shoot. All these beautiful girls in swim suits and in the pool. "My name is Aelly but I prefer to be called Syn," she stated as she addressed everyone there. "I also agree that this is a beautiful day."
Fiona smiled and giggled as Calley stood beside her in his flustered way, and let out a strong laugh like melted caramel when he mentioned swimming like a lemming with a rock strapped to its back--she could always appreciate a good sense of humor.
"Thank you so much! Although I think I resemble a fish on angel dust..." she retorted.
When she returned to the pool she was greeted with warm smiles and a chorus of 'thank you's'. 'Piña Coladas always know how to hit people's good spots!' she thought.
After making sure her own drink was settled nicely by her clothes on the table near a random beach chair, she quickly dived right into the water like a hot knife through butter. Bubbles coursed around her as she relished being underwater. She had loved swimming since she was a child, being on the Performing Tour with her parents. Many times in the year she would get the opportunity to go to the beaches and the pools in the tropical stops of the Tour, and soon she adopted a perfect technique for the so-called underwater waltz.
Resurfacing, she looked to Jenny. "You said you couldn't swim before I left... Would you like to learn how? I always had trouble myself when I started." Fiona said. Then, Fiona thought about it and added: "I'm sure you'd actually do just fine. You have a great structure for it too!" she coaxed.
Getting out of the water, she stood at the edge of the shallower end, dripping water everywhere. One has to love a place where you can freely make a mess.
I sat back down next to the lovely lady known as Syn, and sipped discretely at my Pina Colada. I’ve never actually had one... Though I know the song. Which I promptly started humming. My mermaid had vanished back into the water. A fish on angel dust, huh? I watched her for a moment, head tilted to the side and straw still in my mouth. Nope, too graceful. Just about as spunky, though.
She resurfaced again next to Jenny. "You said you couldn't swim before I left... Would you like to learn how? I always had trouble myself when I started."
My ears perked. For once, this was figuratively, not literally. “Hey, you can’t swim either?” I asked Jenny. “And here I thought I was the only one stupid enough to come to a pool without knowing how to swim.” I just called one of the lovely ladies stupid, didn’t I? I need to just not talk. I hid my face behind a big swallow of Pina Colada before daring to continue: “You’re a lot braver than I am, actually getting in the water and all. Hey, Fiona—if you’re giving swimming lessons, can I join in?”
Fiona's ears picked up Calley's words, and she nodded enthusiatically. "Sure! Come on in!" she motioned, and soon had run to the deep end to dive in. After doing so, she swam to where Calley was.
"Come with me if you want to live." she said seriously, and extended a manicured hand again.
Winking, she laughed and smiled. She loved being able to help people have fun.
"Yes, water gives you a good feeling." Fade said to Iris before she had hoped out and gotten her drink. When Calley mentioned that it was a pleasure to meet her, she smiled at him before taking a sip of her wonderful 'froofy drink' as she had once heard it be called. "Pleasure's all mine." She simply added before walking back to the pool, setting down her drink, sitting down, and gently gliding back into the water. She turned around, took another sip and then moved over to where her fellow redhead was.
"I would love to learn how." She chuckled. "I look completely ridiculous acting like I know how to swim. Just thrash about, maybe I could pull it off." Then came Calley's confession and Fade looked back at him with a surprised expression. "You don't know either?! No, I thought I was the retarded one for not knowing how while everyone else is swimming around here. It's good to see that I'm not the only one deprieved of lessons I was supposed to get as a kid." She paused...dumb "Now I'm not calling you retarded or deprieved, just comforting." Dumb again...

"Nice to meet you Syn," Iris returned the woman's greeting, then turned as Fiona offered to give swimming lessons.
"Perfect day to learn," she agreed with a smile. "And the perfect teacher, too, from the look of it. Not that you'll need it, but I'll gladly play lifeguard," she offered. She set her glass further from the edge, then pushed herself onto the stone. She made her way back to her original perch atop the waterfall, again letting her legs hang over the edge. The sun was rising from behind her, warming her back. Suddenly she chuckled.
"Guess I missed the memo. Looks like red is the color of the day," she remarked for no apparent reason. "I love your hair," she added to Syn.
"Come with me if you want to live," my mermaid was saying. Her tone of voice was after my own heart. That couldn't be a good sign.
I looked at that manicured hand extended my way, and the wink and smile that followed, and couldn’t help but raise an overly suspicious eyebrow. “Hmm... You strike me as the type to pull a poor scaredy-cat into the water.” I set my Pina Colada down on the pool edge, and started sliding into the water with a death grip on the side. “Easy does it...” I heaved a melodramatic sigh of relief as my feet touched the bottom, and flashed a grin at my fellow non-swimmer. Jenny, was it? “I’ll pretend you didn’t call us retarded and deprived if you’ll pretend I didn’t call us stupid. And besides,” I winked at Fiona, “after Coach Mermaid is through with us, I’m sure we’ll be swimming just like li’l fishes on angel dust. Then we’ll never have to admit to anyone that we were restupidly swimming deprived ever again.”
I looked up as Iris offered to play lifeguard, and clasped my hands in grateful prayer. “Oh, our savior! Watch over us lowly land lovers from above!”
Fiona giggled at Calley, and looked to Jenny. Adult swimming lessons... Quite the sight. Taking them both by the hand, she moved them to moderately deep water--it was deep enough so that they could tread water but if things got panicky could move back to the 3 foot area.
"Alrighty guys, now, I know this looks funny, but the first thing you must learn is proper posture and how to keep water out of your lungs. Jenny, if you please?"
Gesturing to Jenny, she held her hands out for the woman to grasp.

Nicki walked into the pool area, looking around at all the people around her. Everywhere she turned were beautful girls all sunning and hanging around the water...and one guy. Nicki laughed at the situation. "He must be in heaven" Nicki smiled.
In only a pair of board shorts and a black bikini top, Nicki walked towards the pool, setting her beach bag down on the grass a little bit aways. Nicki walked over and dipped her toes in.
"Hi everyone" Nicki smiled brightly, unable to avoid conversation with such a close presence.

Iris giggled at Calley's exaggerated gesture. He was quite a character.
She listened curiously to Fiona's instructions. Iris had never actually been taught how to swim; she basically had just splashed around and moved her arms and legs until they gave her some propulsion. She'd had a couple of near drowning incedents, but her mutation never let her stay in danger. Fiona's lessons were fascinating.
Another gal approached and greeted the group. Iris grinned and waved. "Hi there! Jump on in, the water's perfect!"
Kesuk walked onto the pool deck a little later than he wanted to, it figured he pressed the snooze button one too many time. But now he was at the pool, the place he loved most, besides being with Nika. Kesuk was wearing a pair of white board shorts with light and dark blue designs of clouds and lightning. He thought it fit him.. Also he was wearing a pair of bigger shades and it accented his light brown hair flipping to the sides. He threw down his towel and shades on an empty lawn chair and walked to the pool. The water was glistening in the summer sun and it invigorated Kesuk. He noticed alot of beautiful girls but didnt pay them any mind. Kesuk took his diving pose like he did at his swim meets. Then he gracefully dived in the pool with vbarely any splashing. When he reached halfway of the pool, Kesuk surfaced and began to do the butterfly stroke. His muscular arm rose out of the water to show a glimpse of his sculpted pecs. When Kesuk reached the other side he had notice Iris and Fiona were there. " Hey Iris and Fiona how are you girls?" Kesuk said, then shook his hair to give him the " surfer look". " do you girls know if Nika is coming soon?" Kesuk asked. Knowing Nika didnt like the water he hoped she would still come to be with him. Then Kesuk noticed a few more people and said to all " Hey im Kesuk, who are you guys?"
Fiona let go of Jenny's arms for a quick moment, making sure she was safely in level water. Looking to see Kesuk had joined them, she moved over to where he was as gracefully as he had entered, and swam a circle around him.
"Wonderful!" she exclaimed. Laughing, she made to dive again, but then she heard the other part of Kesuk's query.
Fiona frowned. 'Oh dear... Cats and water really don't mix...'
"Well, I honestly have no idea, I don't know her too well. But don't worry, she might pay you a visit. And if not, today is too lovely to waste!"
Turning back to Jenny with a nod to Kesuk, she attempted to resume where she was going with her rambling about the water sports. "Care to continue, or am I being a regular Woody Allen?"
I watched with rapt attention as Fiona started off our lessons. The sort of attention reserved for things that make me very nervous. It’s not just that I can’t swim. I can’t stand being in water. It’s unnatural. What genius first decided that it was a good idea for bipedal land mammals to submerge themselves in liquid and flail around for fun? Am I doing this just so pretty ladies will speak to me? I asked myself. That didn’t take much thought to answer. Yes. Yes, I am. Hey: there are certainly worse reasons to conquer your fears.
Another lady appeared, sticking her toes in the water much like I’d done. I waved to her. “Hiya! I’m Calley. Welcome our watery grave. Fun! I mean our watery fun.”
To my ever-lasting disappointment, the next person to show up was a guy. I guess my lucky streak could only last for so long... Ack, and he knew some of the ladies already.
I shook my head at him in grave, melodramatic depression. “Kesuk, you have no idea how happy I’d have been if you were a girl.” I looked around pointedly at the lovely ladies I’d had all to myself until he showed up, and winked. “Welcome to paradise.” After all, there was still a bright side: we were still outnumbered. I held out my hand to him. "I'm Calley. So, is this Nika your girlfriend?" Please say yes. Please say yes. That would be so amazingly wonderful if he said yes.
