The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Yeah...I'm jumping on the bandwagon with Emmy and Jag, to tell y'all a little about Daria's life as an agent/bounty hunter when she was working for the labs in Nevada. The whole deal was to keep her from going to jail (she was a wanted juvenile fugitive for the murder of her parents which she DIDN'T commit.) In turn she worked for them and let them analyze her powers. She was going under the codename BlackCat which she carried with her to the Mansion and to the Xmen. Since she's just had a change of mind and Changed her name to Bast I thought it appropriate to archive her old missions and life. ******************************* "I can see them now." Black Cat whispered into into her walkie talkie head set. She adjusted her night vison goggles. Two men were sneaking into an office building. A building that held very important information about a plan to stop mutant experimentation. Daria's lab was trying to stop the experiments and wanted that information to get out to the public, thse men worked for the people who wanted to destroy it.
"Welll get on it." Linda's voice commanded.
"right." Black Cat said hopping down from her post on the building opposite. She teleported to the roof of the bulding the two men were in. Opening the door to enter from the top floor.
"Hurry up." A man with a red beard said to the computer. He was having trouble finding the file he was searching for and the security systems had already sent out a signal to the cops. when he did get it he put it on a floppy disk before deleting it from the computer.
He slowly closed the door behind him as he left, but as he turned to go he was startled by a young woman who couldn't have been more than 16. She stood before him dressed completely in black with two guns strapped to her side. She had two large cat ears on her head and a long black tail.
"HI! whats up?" she asked cheerfully.
"Who the hell are you? Get out of my way."
"Oh I'm sorry. Wrong answer." she grinned. " I asked you whats up. Like, what are you doing?"
"About to beat down some mutant freak." he said angrily.
"ooooo." the girl said with a pained look on her face. "Wrong again." she pulled a gun on him inhumanely fast, causing him to back up a bit. "One more wrong answer and you'll really have to pay the price." she grinned.
"I don't gotta answer you. You're just a kid." he said. He was a bit confident, a bit too confident. "But you had better tell me who you are."
Her ears twitched as she heard something behind her move. Her hand slid up a bit to grab her other gun, she raised her hand over her sholder pointing the gun backwards and upside down at the person behind her. "well my name is BlackCat and I really think you should get better back-up." she joked moving back to point at both men now.
"Now does one of you want to tell me what you were doing in there?" she asked again. Something behind her fell. "There's more of you?" she asked swinging her gun around. But it was just a janitor, an old man scared to death of the scene. "Oh..late shift, huh? I know the feeling." she said. While she was turned the man with the red beard grabbed the gun from her left hand, the one pointed at him and pointed it at BlackCat ad sly smile on his face. Much to his surprise she started laughing.
"The safety is on." she told him. "And its a customized gun. It won't shoot for you. Now, seriously. Enough games, whats going on?"
"I'm not saying anything." the redhead stated.
"Me either." his partner said. Black Cat shot him. He fell to the floor with a sickening thump. "Thats fine. I only need one of you." She turned back to the man with the beard. "You see? I'm dead serious, man."
"I'm not talking!" he insisted.
Black cat sighed and shot him as well. "Wrong answer."

The janitor was still shaking in his place. BlackCat turned to him. "Its all good man, they aren't dead. It was tranquilizer."
He still stayed there.
"I'm not a criminal, they are. Now get back to work."
Still he stood.
"Do I have to shoot you too?" She asked. Finally the man grabbed his broom, which was what had dropped, and moved on.
Black Cat searched the man until she found the disk, she scanned it in her mini computer seeing it held the info she wanted. "Bingo. Got it Linda."
"Good. the cops are outside so you might want to get a move on right now." she said.
Black Cat teleported as far as she could, which was to the top of the building, but there were police there too. Daria's Jaguar was parked at the foot of the building, right behind the cop cars. If she could just get to it...
"hey!" a police officer shouted. "You there! Halt."
Black Cat put her hands up compliantly. Slowly backing towards the edge of the building. "Hey, I'm not the one you're looking for. The guys who were breaking in are passed out on the 30th floor." she said.
"we got them. What were you doing in there?"
"I was..stopping them." she said.
"You're unauthorized to take the law into your own hands." the officer said raising his gun."
"Yeah, I know. I know." the ccat girl said stopping short. She had run out of roof.
"No where to hide, kitten." The officer joked.
She smiled. "Officer, don't you know Cats always land on their feet?" she asked back flipping off of the building. Almost automatically she flippind so that she was falling face first. She reeled up at the last minute to land on the hood of her car on all fours. The cops turned their guns at her. But as they shot she disappeared.
She was only able to teleport her car and herself around the corner. The fall had been graceful but had sent serious pains up her legs and arms. Had she been a smart cat she would've known she needed to keep running when she landing like that. She slid into the dirver's seat and turned the key in the ignition.
"You okay?" Linda asked on the screen in the car.
"...Yeah..." BlackCat said as the car was put on auto pilot.
"There are helicoptors I'm giving you an invisiblity shield." Linda warned and Black Cat let it drift back to the labs.

And that is a typical mission on which Daria was sent. she never really liked doing this kind of thing but it would have been too much had the cops caught her; her parents death was already too painful...and to think they wanted to blame it all on her....
****************************
The day already seemed dreary. The winds were strong as Daria looked out the window of her room.
"I know baby. I'm so mad they keep fighting. It's horrible." she was telling sean, her boyfriend. "Every little thing just sets them off."
"Did you try talkign to them?" he asked.
"Me? and be the cause of another argument? No thank you." she said.
"daria? Hurry up honey, we need to make it to the bank." her mother's voice called from downstairs.
"I'll talk to you a little later babe, mommy dearest calls."
Sean laughed. "Alright, honey. Listen, though."
"Yeah?"
"Try to relax. I remember all the fighting that went on before my mother divorced my dad and I know its scary." he said. "But your parents love eachother, I've seen them, I know the difference. Just give them some time to work it out. If you ever need to talk you know you can call me at one in the morning and I'll be there, or you can come to my house if you need to be out of yours for a minute."
"I know."
"I love you, Daria. I always will."
"I love you too honey. Gee, don't get so sentimental. I'll be back in an hour." she laughed.
"Hey, I know you just need to hear it right now."
"I do." she admitted.
"Daria!?" her mother called again.
"Alright. I need to jet" she said.
"later, babe." Sean said.
"Later." she hung up the phone and rushed downstairs.
"Who do you talk to for hours like that?" her father mumbled as they climbed into the car. It had already started to drizzle.
"Leave her alone honey. She's in love."
"Love? What would she know about it? she's 14."
Daria sighed and leaned back in the seat putting the headphones of her cd player in her ears. she was sick of this.
The rain seemed to pour on and on for the whole car ride, and it was a long car ride to the bank. Her father insisted on keeping the restaurant accounts in a big bank in the heart of DC. With the 'white folks' money it would be safe.
The drive became longer and longer as the rain and the wind became stronger and stronger. The gusts hit the windows violently making loud 'whapping' sounds on the glass. The windsheild wipers weren't doing any good as the heavy rains blurred vision.
"Honey you should pull over." Daria's mother said.
"Gale, I know what I'm doing." David insisted. "I can drive." he spat knowing Gale couldn't. She was reliant on him for alot of things. The one thing she was good at was cooking Like her mother.
"But you can't see to drive, Dave." Gale told him. Daria could hear none of this because of her headphones.
"Gale, please will you-" suddenly the car swerved and David struggled to get it back in control. Daria fell forward her headphones moving from her ears and filling them with the sound of rain, wind and rubber on asphault. Thye were sliding and Daria hit the side door, from that angle she could see her mother hit the dashboard, there was no airbag yet. The car swerved the other way and her father hit the sterring wheel. the car rolled off the high way, into the metal bar and flipped on its top. It slid down a hill and into a muddy ditch.
The sound of the cars horns and police sirens were so loud in Daria's ears. The rain was blown in through the broken windows and her parents bodies were mangled and bloody.
"Momma?" she asked leaning forward to touch her mother's face.
"Dad?" she asked doing the same. Her hands came back bloody but she didn't notice. she was crying and wiped her face ,smearing the blood near her cheeks and mouth. The smell of gas was strong, too strong....she thought the car was going to blow up. She didn't know she now had heightened senses of hearing and smell. "Wake up!" she cried but in vain. They were...
Daria couldn't see wa safe way out of the car. She pushed at the dorrs but they were all jammed. The gasoline was making her dizzy.
She needed to get out. She looked around at the muddy ground. It was gross but anything was better than-
She landed heavily on her feet, outside.....how had she gotten there? The sirens were close and lights from the copters and flashlights sailed over her.
"Hey!" a cop cried. "freeze." Daria stumbled back landing on her bottom, hard.
She hissed, much to her surprise and raised her hand to her mouth. The smell of the blood on her fingers intoxicated her almost and she instinctively licked them. She caught herself.
"Its a mutant!" the officer cried to his partner.
"I'm not a-" Daria hissed but saw her tail. And it was definitly attached to her bottom.
The rest was just pure instinct. She took off running, faster than she had ever run, harder than her heart had ever pumped. Her tail kept her balanced and she ran on her toes. She managed to escape into the city, ducking into an alley. Her adrenaline was pumping then and it died down now.

When she awoke she was in a bed, tucked in neatly, her wounds bandaged. She didn't know where she was a but a bunch of dark figures were standing over her, in black hoods concealing their faces.
"hey.." she said grogily. "Who are you?"
"Helpers." one answered simply before Daria fell back into sleep. When she awoke again she was still in the bed but dressed. A bag was near her filled with food and clothes. Not her clothes. and a note.
"We have done all we can. Good luck Mutant."
Daria left the vicinity draped in a long hooded sweater. She was out on her own now. She couldn't go back to her home since she was a mutant, they would disown her. She really didn't have much other family. She was all by herself now and scared to death.
And as if it couldn't get worse a poster was up all around the city. A poster of a ferocious looking cat girl, licking blood off of her fingers. Wanted for the murder of Gale and David Strong. ***************************************
So thats where Daria's hydrophobia comes from. Most water reminds her of that night. She's been on her own since, getting from place to place without much trouble, she just had to be...cunning...

Daria's first plan was to get out of the state. Far out of the state. She was going to go to california.
She was then faced with two problems...money and transportation. With her added appendages she just looked suspicous.
Daria didn't have time to get a job. The cops were searching every neighborhood in the projects for her and her picture was in every store, even the small ones. She realized she would have to rely on her powers..but first she needed to learn to use them.
As of right then, Daria could only teleport to places she could see with her eyes. That was relatively far, especially with her heightened senses but it took so much energy.
She began practicing in the Garret Moore Park. It was the biggest park in D.C and at night she was able to find places to practice without trouble. Soon she could manage a sight trip with out being tired at all. But a trip after that was nigh impossible. She had only one chane to do things right.
In the day time, when she wasn't sleeping she would visit the near by airport. She would watch the loading and unloading of planes, she would have to hitch her ride on a shipment plane because a passenger plane was too risky.
Finally about 10 days after the accident, Daria made her move. She teleported herself to the side of a loading plane from an empty apartment that over looked the airport. When she landed she was silent and quickly slipped under the plane to wait out the loading. When they were finished she scrambled out to the back door and slid inside, narrowly missing the eyes of the loader. He gave the signal to close the plane, and Daria was home free.
The ride was bumpy to say the least. Daria had never been on a plane before and this had to be the most painful first ride ever. By the time the plane landed her ears were ringing and she was bruised from hitting the walls and crates during turbulance. Unloading wasn't as easy as loading and Daria foudn that she had no choice but to teleport herself into the middle of the airport since she couldn't see any discreet place.
She wasn't spotted, by sheer luck and dove off into the bushes to think.
"Where are you from, good looking?" a voice said from behind her.
A tall teenage boy, about 18 or 19 stood against a tree. He wore a white wife beater and a red and blue vest, with ripped denim jeans. His arms were folded across his chest rebelliously.
"Who the hell are you?"
"I'm chase." he said. "and whats your name, sweety?"
"Its not sweety." Daria spat. "And I don't need to tell you who I am."
"I'll help you anyways." he offered.
"I don't need your help." Daria said, panicking. She bared her claws and fangs.
"Of course not, because its obvious that you travel to cali constantly, and thats why you just snuck off of a cargo plane.
Daria continued to glare at him.
"Leave me alone, or I will hurt you." she threatened.
"Hurt me?" he laughed and zipped away in a streak of red and blue. He was suddenly behind her, whispering close in her ear. "You can't even touch me, sweety."
Daria hissed and whipped around but he had her, holding her firmly around her shoulders. All she had learned in Tae kwon do was slipping from her mind and she was too scared to teleport. She flailed her feet in fear while Chase laughed. He threw her to the ground.
"wow. I'm really scared now." he said. She dove at him but he zipped away. "Uh-uh-uh. Now thats no way to play, kitty."
Daria hissed. This was before her incident but she still didn't want to be called 'kitty.' "Leave me alone!"
"I can't." Chase said passionately.
"Pretty little girls like you will get hurt out here."
"I can defend myself." Daria insisted.
"Prove it then." Chase challenged running forward and kicking Daria hard in the stomach. She fell back and skidded on her bottom, tumbling over to land on her feet. She teleported in front of him or, tried to at least, but was still too slow and she missed. This went on for a while until Daria was out of breath and tired and Chase was laughing casually. "see? You need my help."
"How many mutants have super speed around here?" Daria asked breathlessly. Because that's the only reason you beat me."
"No, I beat you because you broke all the rules of good fighting. You panicked, you didn't focus and you were too concerned with hitting me."
"What do you mean? We were fighting."
"I saw you use some tae kwon do moves. Very skillfully. You should know that sometimes you have to let an opponent come to you. I'm that opponent. You can't catch me but when I catch you, then you can strike." he said.
Daria nodded..." Why are you doing this?"
"Because I have nothing better to do than to help people like you who want to survive. This isn't a good world when you're a mutant, or when you're poor, or when you're a minority." he said.
"Yeah, three strikes for me."
"Me too. I'm homeless." Chase said casually. He had to be hispanic of some sort.
Daria became serious. "Okay. So where can I go to stay low for a while?"
"With me. if you trust me." Chase turned around, motioning for Daria to get on his back. She hesitated for a minute.
Chase was a stranger..he could take her anywhere.
But what was her other option? Wander around and get arrested? She hopped on his back. "Alright, lets go."
Chase could almost fly. Daria felt like she was falling and floating all at the same time. The speed overwhelmed her senses so that she became disoriented a bit dizzy when they finally stopped. They stopped in a run down neighborhood.
"Left the ghetto to come back to the ghetto." Daria whispered.
"No, this is not where we're staying. I just need to pick someone up." he said. He walked down the blocks with Daria still on his back, adjusting her hood and tail every five minutes. they stopped at an old brown stone.
"Joey." Chase called. "Joey! You finished? You headed home with us?"
There was a silence and then, another boy came out, around Chase's age. He was blonde with long hair tied in a braid and a fair face. His striking blue eyes seemed to make Daria melt. On his back were two giant angel wings, purest of whites.
"This is joseph." Chase said. "Joseph this is Daria. She's going to be to be your passenger from here on."
"Lucky me." Joey said with a charming smile. He picked Daria up easily, the girl was very small, and flapped his wings a couple of times before they rose into the air. The girl was terrified and lcung to him as if he really were a guardian angel.
"Don't drop me please!" Daria pleaded.
"I won't honey." Joey said softly. "Look down. There's the beach." Daria refused to open her eyes though, until they had landed on solid ground...or sand.
"Thanks." she said looking at the pretty yellow beach house. The beach itself was a bit dirty, as if no one used it. Perfect place for a mutant hideout.
"Welcome." Joey said opening the door. There were other girls there, they all seemed older than Daria but no one was really an adult.
Daria didn't have her own room while she stayed there, she slept on the couch. Her time at the beachhouse was well spent playing and having a good time. She realized she couldn't stay for long. One night, when they were all out for burgers at "In and Out" Chase pointed to one of the posters.
Daria's face, vicious and hissing, was plastered on a lamp post.
"So..you're...going away?" Chase said as the sat on the porch of the beach house the next day. He and Daria had gotten rather close for that month.
"I have to leave." She said. "I can't stay knowing they're looking for me."
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"I don't know. And I wouldn't tell you." she said knowing he would understand. "But thanks for everything."
"I'm not done yet." Chase said giving her a hard shove. She rolled off of the porch and landed on her feet in the sand.
"What the-" But chase was already jetting towards her, she teleported out of the way, understanding. Chase made a lightening fast u-turn and slammed into Daria from behind. She whipped around and swiped at him knowing she wouldn't hit.
She waited and sure enough Chase reached out to hit her int the shoulder, she spun and grabbed his hand. Time paused as he realized he was caught and they caught eachother's eyes. Daria flipped him onto the ground, planting her foot in the center of his chest.
"My work here is done." he grinned. ************************************
So Daria hopped back on a plane and then got on a truck and she didn't know where she was going but she needed to get out of there, so she did. She got out of california and went to....

"Nevada?" Daria whispered to herself as she saw the sign. The truck was passing through- just crossing the state line. It was a barrn land and there didn't seem to be civilization for miles. She was panicking now-she knew small towns would not be accepting of a girl with a tail.
She was in the back of a truck, sitting on smelly hay and hadn't taken a shower in two days. She was miserable and the hot sun didn't make it better. She wore her sweater to hide her extra appendages. "How the hell do I get out of Nevada?" she thought to herself.
There were chickens in the truck..aboout two less than there used to be...Daria had gotten hungry. She was completely disgusted with the fact that she could actually kill and eat an uncooked chicken. She hadn't been thinking as she did it-she'd just ravenously grabbed it and..well...eaten it.
The deeper the truck went the less likely they were to find a farm. "This is weird." Daria said outloud. She had no clue she was speaking outloud. She looked at the chickens again and opened a case. Scared, they stood perfectely still as she reached in and brushed the botom of the case. Something metal was in it. Something metal was in all of them...
"oooookay." Daria said and sat down patiently. This truck was definitely not going to a farm...or a chicken factory. She curled up against the side and fell asleep. A few hours passed and the truck came to a stop. She peeked outside, carefully lifting the tarp to view what was happening.
There was a huge metal fence surrounding a large plot of land. Numerous buildings and tents sat on the land and tons of armoured vehicles drove around. The truck had stopped at a booth and a uniformed man was coming around the back to inspect the contents of the truck. Daria moved to the very back and watched the man knowingly move the chickens and check the numbers on the metal objects...eack metal object.
There was nowhere for Daria to escape.
She would have to run.
When the man neared the back of the truck he saw her. "Hey, what are you doing-" She cut him off by diving at him. He ducked and she went flying from the truck, ready to run.
"Hey, you! stop there!" the man demanded pointing his gun.
"Sorry." Daria said. "I rook a wrong turn." She began to run even though the alarms sounded and the shots rang out. She could hear see and hear the bullets hit the concrete but with her heightened senses she could tell where they were headed and avoid them. She teleported and ran in a zig zag fashion keeping out of the way. Soon three armored trucks were chasing her.
"I'm leaving!" she cried. "Just let me go!" that wasn't happening. Soldiers pointed their machine guns at her from a the sky windows of the hummers, narrowly missing her. She realized, as they caught up to her that she wa going to have to fight.
The soldiers seemed surprised as she disappeared. She reappeared on the top of the middle truck. The soldiers on both sides took aim. They shot but missed, because both were too frightened to hit their comrade. The truck swerved and Daria almost fell off but she dug her claws into the top of the van. "AAA" she screamed before regaining her balance. She swung onto the car on the right, kicking the soldier there in the face and knocking him unconcious. She picked up the gun and pointed it-but she had no clue how to use it.
"It won't work." she heard the other soldiers say. "Its customized for his hands."
"Oh..in that case." Daria began and teleported to the soldier who had spoken to her. She beat him in theh ead with the weapong until he was knocked out as well.
One more soldier stood but he retreated into his car. The hummer on which Daria perched swerved again and she struggled to hold on but couldn't hitting the ground and tumbling back wards. The hummer changed direction and came barreling at her, their headlights blaring in the night. Daria's eyes glowed as she hissed and stood her ground. She would teleport at the last minute, as far away as she could see..while she still had energy...
Suddenly something sharp hit her in the neck and she tumbled forward unable to keep her pretty green eyes oepn.

"This is simply amazing. I don't belive it. Look at this definition..."
Daria heard the woman's voice in her head. She didn't open her eyes- every part of her body felt like it weighed a hundred pounds. She could hardly remember what had happened but listened to the voices as she waited.
"The tail is completely attached to the spinal cord..it seems almost prehensil."
"Like a monkey"
"No where near as strong but it's flexible, very..."
"So she's a natural mutant?"
"I don't think this is a man made mutation,no."
Daria was aware a man and a woman were speaking now. But where was she..what had happened after....She forced her eyes open and was deeply disturbed when things showed up blurry. She blinked trying to clear her newly aquired better than perfect vision. But it didn't help. "Wh-wha-where..." she began trying to get the feeling back in her jaw.
"Hello." The woman said. All Daria could tell was that she had long black hair and was probably wearing glasses.
"Where...am-m -ah?" she demanded trying hard to speak properly.
"Not important right now." the woman said casually. "why don't you tell us who you are?"
"Whe-" Daria began but coughed instead. She continued to cough and cough until she cleared her throat. She couldn't move her arms, her wrists were bound. "Where am I?" she said glad to hear her voice. She still couldn't see.
"I told you-" the woman began.
"Don't tell me." Daria said. "I'm being held captive and you need to tell me why the hell you didn't just let me go?"
"You can't be a day over 14.." the woman began. "what's you name?"
"What's yours?" Daria spat.
The woman laughed. "Linda Smith. My name is Linda smith."
"And you?" She said nodding at the man.
"Virgil, Virgil hammil."
"Good. Now why am I here?'
"You hitched a ride on the wrong truck, honey. We needed to make sure you weren't a spy."
"I'm 14 years old!" Daria screamed. "A spy for who? Toys R us?"
"We didn't know that when we caught you. You have no identification and you didn't really look 14." The woman said. "You're safe here, we realize you aren't a threat. But we see that you're a mutant and we want to run some tests to-"
"No." Daria said calmly. "You can't run tests on me. I'm not some kind of lab cat."
"Honey, we don't-"
"Don't call me honey." she said. "Doctor? Could you come here." She asked Virgil. He looked at Linda in a tentative way and then approached Daria.
"yes?"
"Listen, Doc. You have to get me out-" she spoke long enough to wrap her tail around his wrist, pulling him in close and slamming her head into his. He crumpled to the floor as Daria did her best to teleport a few incches aove the bed and out of the shackels. Linda moved forward to grab her but Daria dove past her hitting the floor on her feet and spinning around. She couldn't really see yet but she could smell Linda's perfume and see her blurry outline.
Linda grabbed a metal pole that glowed a bright blue at the tip. Daria could tell it was electricity. She hissed.
"Amazing." Linda muttered charging at her.
Daria screeched out a meow before jumping back. She dodged each swipe of the staff for quite a while before lashing out with an ax kick and slamming it to the floor. "Leave me alone!" She hissed diving at Linda. The woman was fast though and hit the floor before Daria landed causing her to slam into the cot and slip back into unconciousness.

When she awoke she could see perfectly fine and all her senses were working. She was tightly bound by a straight jacket and in a white padded room-completely isolated. She smirked and teleported from the jacket. A camera was on the far wall of the room and she rushed over to it, jumped into the air and swattes at it, taking it out wiht her claws.
There were no windows and one door with only a slot to see through. She couldn't see outside, and couldn't open the slot from the inside. She banged on the door.
A man in a white coat answered. "yes?"
"Let me out." Daria said.
He laughed. "i'm a afraid we can't do that. We're sending in someone to speak with you though." he said. He was blocking her view so she couldn't see out to another place to teleport. She sighed and moved back. He opened the door and Linda walked in.

Daria hissed.
"Hello Daria."
"You've got some nerve. Coming in here when I could totally kill you right now." she threatened.
"Why would you do that? You haven't heard where you are and you didn't let me explain why we wont let you go."
"I'm listening." Daria said perching in a corner.
Linda stopped where she was and sat on the floor.. She was pretty with a beauty mark right near her top lip. Her nose was straight and her hair was shiny and thick. "You are in a laboratory located on a military base in Nevada." she began. "We origianally chased you because we thought you were a spy. Once we saw that you were too young and that you were a mutant we did some investigating and found this." She produced a paper from the folder she held and slid it over to Daria.
The cat-girl looked at it and hissed. It was a police file about her murdering her parents. "So you're going to turn me into the cops."
"No, of course not." Linda said. "Something about the story didn't add up. Why would you kill them? I am not willing to accept the idea that mutants are inherently bad. I am willing to admit and believe that you were i nthe wrong place at the wrong time."
"good. Because that was exactly the case." Daria said. She crumpled the file up and threw it across the room. Linda followed it with her eyes. "I mutated during the crash. I just came out like this. I don't know what happened. I didn't cause my dad to crash it was raining.."
Linda nodded. "I believe you."
Daria looked at her for a moment. "So...what are you going to do to me?"
"to you? Nothing. For you? As much as we can." Linda said. "See, I'd like to think you had somewhere to go, but I'm assuming that ifyou came from washington DC to Nevada then you have nowhere to go. Am I right?"
Daria didn't answer.
"Well if I'm right, and to an extent I hope I am, then you are welcomed to stay at the lab. We'll get the police off of your tail because they won't expect to find you here."
Daria twitched an ear. "What do you get out of this?"
"You'd work for us."
"Work? What kind of work."
Linda smiled. "Acquisitions...bounty hunting..." she said vaguely.
"I'm 14..."
"But you're not the normal 14 year old we come across everyday. I have to admit the idea is far fetched but I hope you'll consider it because-"
"I'll do it." She said. "I'll do it but do I have to stay in here?"
"No.. If you promise to cooperate we can move you to a nice apartment somewhere on the base but near the labs." Linda said already thinking about where that would be.
Daria stood up but Linda didn't flinch at all. She wasn't afraid of Daria the least bit. "then you have yourself a deal." the cat girl held out her hand and Linda shook it.
