The limo glided to a halt outside Dorian’s own personal concrete jungle oasis, where gilded finery, antique treasures, discreet white-glove service, and impeccable taste have always been de rigueur. Dorian climbed out of the vehicle and looked up at the 43 story building, a slight smile crossing his face, acknowledging the castle-like structure that took up the top three floors.
Dorian entered, and immediately an over-enthusiastic manager began talking at him in an excited manner. Dorian of course ignored him, and made his way to the main elevator. Using his key to access the 41st floor; the elevator door opening to the large mirrored foyer which lead to the west wing and the north and south reception rooms that lie at either side of the commanding, double black marble staircases. The walls were paneled in 18th century English oak, the floors too were constructed with oak. The mansard-roofed château was filled with 20-foot French windows framing vistas of Central Park and the city beyond.
On the first floor of his sky-high mansion was a wine cellar, and a stunning paneled library. Off the main entrance are interior stairs as well as an in-residence elevator, the main kitchen, and a staff bedroom. The second floor was the original ballroom of the hotel, which now served as a grand salon of incredible proportion, as well as the master bedroom, a kitchenette and a gym. The uppermost level offers two additional bedroom suites.
Dorian had big plans for this city, and this airborne fortress would provide ample space, security and proximity to the city to be a suitable base of operations. Such a grandiose abode, of course, didn’t come cheap. Many decades ago, Dorian ‘acquired’ many millions of dollars from his pharmaceutical corporation ‘King Pharmaceutical’. Dorian also opened several nightclubs, where a lot of the city’s major illicit drug deals go down. Dorian is in fact one of the wealthiest people in New York, though due to the shadiness of how he attained his riches, his exact value is not known. He often makes the society pages, attending and hosting numerous charities whenever he is in town. But this time, his philanthropic façade will soon turn out to be the city’s own downfall.
Moving quickly to his computer in the library, Dorian began to research available properties in the downtown area that would be suitable to his cause. Soon enough, Dorian discovers a place of interest to him, and calls the real estate agent, thus beginning to set his plans into motion.
