The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jorge
>> "Tired? Want some help or are you good for another go?"
The sound was muffled but the detective could make out what Maya was saying. Did he really want to keep going? He could potentially put himself into danger if he did. The man had an obsessive streak when it came to anything personal task. He always had to keep going, keep struggling on until he conquered what he had set out in his mind to do. The problem this time is that he could make himself sick or harm himself if he did. He didn’t know the ramifications of being in the water form for so long. He didn’t know what it could do to his body in the long term.
But the moment he didn’t care. He was greeted with a challenge and no matter what the man was going to conquer it. Besides, he was feeling alright? What’s the worst that could happen?
The surface of the puddle bubbled and churned a bit before a smaller pillar of water began to rise up, forming on the end a large, round mass. Slowly it began to take shape and flatten out. Before the X-Man’s eyes the fingers formed and she would find herself staring at a hand. The hand curled the watery digits against the palm and extended out his thumb.
He was still good for one more try.
Jorge mentally took a sigh as he tried to psych himself up. He was thankful, though, that he was not alone in this. At least with Ghost here he would not run the risk of being trapped in a puddle form. She could either coax him back or maybe even take him to someone who could help. Whatever the case, he was simply thankful that he was not alone.
Taking a moment to himself the puddle-detective sent a shiver through the water’s surface as the hand collapsed back into the main body. When that happened, Jorge held a clear picture in his mind of what he looked like. He was not even going to attempt to build the body himself out of water. It was obvious that that was not going to work. But, if he could focus on what it felt like to be a real, flesh and blood man again, maybe that would be enough to knock him back into his own body.
Holding that picture in his mind, Jorge relaxed and waited, letting his mind go blank of all thoughts except for that image of himself. Nearly a full minute rolled by before the puddle began to respond. First it was one ripple, then another, and another, as if some large footed dinosaur were walking nearby. But then the shimmering liquid began to rise. There was no pillar though. Instead, as the water rose higher and higher it began to form the vaguest shape of a skeleton. As creepy as that was, it was evident that Jorge was beginning to come back.
He tried to think of nothing but himself, nothing but that picture of himself. As much as he wanted to manipulate the water, he had to trust that it would mend itself.
Standing as a fully erect skeleton, more water climbed and began to reshape into organs, muscles, and finally the skin that covered the whole thing. More definition began to pop out of the human being born of water. Watery scars, follicles of hairs, wrinkles in the skin, all of it was still translucent and made of water, but as more definition came about, so did the color of skin. The detective remained still, standing upright and trying not to breathe or open his eyes too soon. He could feel the sensations returning to his skin and now was not the time to jinx himself.
It was only when he felt that last bit of color return to his skin that a sudden wave of released tension tore throughout his body. Jorge opened his eyes wide, gasped, and proceeded to fall down to his knees once more. The detective groaned as slowly the regular sensations that ever human feels returned to his body. He felt the rough concrete beneath his fingers and knees, as well as the flaring of his nostrils as he breathed. With a groan the man looked up at Ghost and a weak smile came across his face. He had done it.
But…where was that draft coming from?
Jorge looked down and immediately a blush appeared over his cheeks as he sighed.
“Ugh…you…mind?” he asked as he tried to keep his dignity and nodded to the sweatpants that she had removed from him. Thank god Gemma isn’t here…
This building of a body gave Ghost goosebumps. It was an eerie replica of the synthetic replacement body they had built her in the future, the one that was heavy and kept her from going incorporeal. A synthetic prison. Though, this one seemed a lot more peaceful. The water that built up slowly was as smooth as lake water and incredibly clear and clean. Looking through Jorge made the scene behind him refract in a warped, but not unpleasant way. Sort of like looking through rose glasses, she was looking through another elemental.
It was her turn to say. "Wow."
> “Ugh…you…mind?”
She snatched up the clothes —Entirely dry! How cool was that?— and turned her back to Jorge while holding the clothes out toward the direction she had last seen him in.
"Are you up for a little ghosting or would you rather I call a cab?" She wouldn't mind putting up the fare if that was what he preferred. "You've had a really productive day. It'll be different under stress and there are a million other things you'll need to try, but all in all I call that success." Even if he did look a little wobbly on his feet. Success was success. And it tasted sweet.
"I'll leave a list of Danger Room programs for you at the Mansion, if you like. Did Sam give you Danger Room access or do you need adult supervision?" She grinned at the idea. Jorge looked old enough to possibly be her father, though she guessed her dad was a bit older.

Jorge
Thankfully Ghost showed him the same respect and dignity he would have shown her had she suddenly appeared naked after becoming air. She turned away and held out his clothes for him. Gratefully the detective took the clothes from her hand and immediately slipped on his sweatpants. It was only after he was done tying the drawstring that he slipped his shirt back one and immediately felt the warmth of his dry clothes. Apparently even though he became water any of the moisture on his clothes that had been a part of him slinked off and rejoined. Well…at least he would not have to worry about a dry cleaner’s bill every time he decided to shift in his clothes.
“Thanks,” he said appreciatively as he adjusted his shirt and tugged down the edges. “You can turn back, I’m decent.”

Jorge had to keep himself to grinning to wide. He took the compliment well, that this had been a successful day. Shifting between water and human was hard as hell, but even though the man was getting pretty tired now, he still fully believed in what she said. They had some great success today. It was like the difference between night and day, when comparing to the first time he shifted. The first time it was exhausting, terrifying, and had damn near paralyzed him for nearly the rest of the day.
This though, this was completely different. Ghost seemed to do everything that needed to be done in order to get Jorge to connect with whatever it was his powers were evolving into. Everything from showing him what it was like to be in an elemental’s footsteps, to submerging him in his own element, to encouraging him to push himself, it was all her. Though it was something that was more than likely in him the whole time, she did a good job of showing him the way.
He smirked a little and nodded. “I’d wouldn’t mind your so-called ‘Ghosting’, again.” He said. “I trust you. And…I promise I won’t breathe you in again.”
He really was beginning to like this woman a lot. She was turning out to be an excellent friend. Working with her twice already, he knew that he could trust her and that she would be a loyal friend. Hell, she even hit him when she said she never would. If those are not the actions of a potential true friend, he had no idea what was.
>> "I'll leave a list of Danger Room programs for you at the Mansion, if you like. Did Sam give you Danger Room access or do you need adult supervision?"
Jorge had heard of the Danger Room. It was a training facility somewhere underneath the Xavier school where mutants could learn to hone their powers, especially with the help of better trained X-Men. The detective had never been, mainly because there never really was a reason for him to be in there; nor did he ask to be. Whatever the X-Men did, that was their business, not his. It was not like he was a part of their group, after all. Still though, from the sounds of the place, it may be exactly what he needed to get some more training in and figure out the full limitations of his newfound abilities.
The detective shook his head to her question.
“I’m afraid I have yet to visit that facility.” Jorge said with a shrug. “Never really had need for it before. But it sounds like it would be a good place for me to practice. I would not mind the extra help at all. Especially if you have good ideas about it.”
Never been to the danger room? For some reason Ghost was under the impression that Jorge had worked with the X-Men enough to gain access... maybe it was the fact that DocProf knew enough about his mutation to recommend Ghost to help him. Or the couple times she had run across him when helping the police. Hmmm.
"Well, when you go to the Mansion, page me. We've been spending more and more time there and I think some of my programs will be a good fit for you."
And since he said he wouldn't mind ghosting... "You know, you're pretty brave." Her tone said that she liked Jorge. That he had admirable traits worth having in a friend. "Even the other air elemental didn't want to ghost twice in one day after his first time." She offered her hand to him. Once she had Jorge's hand firmly in hers she inhaled. The spreading numb was just like before, slow going and timed to the white haired girl's breathing.
"Don't let go." She reminded him and her words sent little ripples through the air. "Also, you miiiight have to help me pick out which window is yours." But together, they would make it back. Ghost knew at least which building was his now and she would go slow once they got to the windows. Worst case, he could count over and up.

Jorge
Jorge was definitely going to have to try this “Danger Room” out now. The way Ghost talked it about, it seemed as if it would be the ideal place for him to practice his new found abilities. So far the man had no need for it, but this seemed like it was going to be necessary now. It was as if the 41 year old detective was a 15 year old discovering his abilities all over again. There was so much wonder, potential and excitement that Jorge really was not sure what to do with himself. What was all this going to mean about him? Was his body going to alter because it forever? So many questions…
…but with someone like Ghost and Gemma helping him, he was sure that he was going to find answers before long. On top of all that, Jorge was not a quitter. He was going to gain some sort of mastery over these abilities. He had to because he could not risk them getting out of control while he was on the job.
>> "You know, you're pretty brave…Even the other air elemental didn't want to ghost twice in one day after his first time."[/i]
Jorge chuckled and took her hand. That numbness began to slowly spread as she breathed in and the water-bender could only try not to panic. The urge to do so was not as bad as it was when she first did it. At least that too was of some progress. Instead he only nodded to her while he still could.
“Well, it’s good to know that I’ve already topped some elementals,” he said as finally he vanished fully from sight.
It was just like before. His vision changed and all he could see were the outlines of buildings and objects that the window passed through or over. The sight was still an awe-inspiring experience, to watched the feather lines of the world, as if it were all a sketch done by the artistic winds and breezes and currents of the world. Just seeing it brought back his years of reading poetry in college and if the detective could have shed a tear he could have. This was nothing like when he was in water form. Then again…he did not give himself that much of a chance to see.
>> "Don't let go…Also, you miiiight have to help me pick out which window is yours."[/i]
“Well, considering that I’ve never had to climb in through my own window, that may be difficult. But I’m sure I can figure it out,” he replied with some confidence.
The tight grip of her hand in his anchored him as the detective invisibly nodded and felt himself go completely weightless. This was going to take some getting used to, but he didn’t mind in the least. It was definitely quicker than taking a taxi. Overall, he was pleased with today. Not only did he get some handle on his abilities, he also made an excellent teacher and friend…
