The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

So far…Agnes was having a nice conversation with the woman. She seemed nice enough. But of course, not all good things can last.
>> "Seriously?! Every time I walk into my own room I find another girl here. Maybe I should keep doing it. Ya were callin' for my butt? That's sweet."
>> "Maybe next time it'll be you're girlfriend, no? I wonder if she'd spill the beans on any juicy Gawain gossip for me.
The woman knew how to handle his snark. That was good. It made Agnes feel definitely better that there was someone else out there in the world that was not susceptible to Gawain’s charms. If anything it should only infuriate people more. Enough to want to slug him. She still wondered how this “girlfriend” could ever put up with him.
>> Sooo. Megan, meet Agnes, a.k.a. the Queen Bee. She spits bugs at people, and punches me on a regular basis. Agnes, meet my new roommate Megan. She's the spider girl I told you about. And just so you know: neither of you is my girlfriend. In case you were wondering."
God, like, seriously? What was it about him that made Agnes just want to slug him every time she saw him? His grin? That twinkle in his eye? Maybe it had to do with that fact that the boy had absolutely no tact at all. That could be a good reason to slug someone, right? Someone’s being a jerk, you just pop them one directly in the eye and that outta shut them up for a while. At least that is what Agnes believed. And Gawain did not do much in order to keep her from wanting to hit him. It was just destiny. It had to be.
“There are worse things,” she said in response to him stating that neither was his girlfriend. There were definitely worse things! Flesh eating viruses, paper cuts with salt in them, missing a head…yeah there were things that were worse…just not by much.
>> “My loss I guess…Oh, come on guys... Hey hey! Break it up! No. Stop it, or I'll let the dog eat you all."
A first Agnes had no idea what the woman was talking about. She was not doing anything as far as she knew and she was not directly addressing Gawain, but as she turned and looked down, Agnes immediately back up a little. Why were there so many spiders?! Then she remembered that Gawain had called her “Spider Girl”, maybe she controlled them. The irony of the situation might have made her laugh if it were not the sheer creepiness of having so many blue eyed spiders in front of her. Suddenly as if on cue to defend her, several flies began to buzz into the room and circled Agnes protectively. On top of that, several more roaches had crawled from the woodwork and were circling her feet.
A glance to them and she sighed. She was sure the last thing that Gawain wanted was an all out bug war in his room.
“I-I’m getting better at calming them.” Agnes said as she took a deep, calming breath. Immediately the bugs began to ease up, not look so defensive. But they were not taking their beady eyes off the arachnid family either.
>>"Maybe next time it'll be you're girlfriend, no? I wonder if she'd spill the beans on any juicy Gawain gossip for me."
Gawain smirked. "As I told ya last time, when ya were getting me out of the handcuffs, ya don' need to bother Twy with that. You can always just ask..." he winked, but the effect was kind of ruined by the water dripping into his eyes.
In the meantime, the room was starting to fill up with spiders and roaches and flies. Gawain sighed and backed out of the line of fire to sit on his bed.
"So, I get Charlotte with her tiny webmasters, and Agnes with the flies and roaches. This should be interesting" he mused, watching the girls "C'mon, girls, cheer up. Megan, Agnes needs someone she can learn from. There are not many mutants running around with bugs under their skin..."
This... caught Megan's attention. "Oh?... So you are gaining control over them?" The twenty three year old studied the girl before her, pursing her lips like she was looking at a car for sale and not a person. She was jumpy around bugs... yet they were a part of her mutation. She was curious for a moment, having never feared her eight legged children. "...It gets easier with time and practice."
"So, I get Charlotte with her tiny webmasters, and Agnes with the flies and roaches. This should be interesting. C'mon, girls, cheer up. Megan, Agnes needs someone she can learn from. There are not many mutants running around with bugs under their skin..."
He was right about that. The only other mutant she had met who dealt with bugs was one. "Alright troop. Shape up!" Her eyes dropped back down to the spiders on the floor. She straightened her back, folded her hands behind her back and turned her nose up into the air. She was totally not showing off. ...Totally. They were practically wiggling with anticipation. Each slowly turned from the tasty mobile meals before then to face their mother, blue eyes unblinking and a little bit disappointed. "No more scaring mansion goers. Bad to your posts!"
Each spider took a moment to raise its front legs up, as if in disagreement. Which it was. Megan heard a chorus of mumbled grumbles, before the little black spiders turned and skittered off toward the door. Megan smirked while watching them go. Then, she turned back to Gawain and Agnes. Bugs under their skin, huh? "I'm not exactly a teacher type person. Short attention span, lack of patience, yadda yadda... but if I can help out, I'll try." Thrusting one hand forward, she grinned at Agnes. "Nice to officially meet you."
Take a little time. How many times had Agnes heard that in the past? She knew that her abilities would take time to develop and she had only started to really attempt to get a hold of them. Ever since they developed she had been accidentally releasing waves of insects at unsuspecting people, only because she got herself all worked up and upset. It was not right because it kept her having a normal life. That was why she started to practice and try to get some kind of control over them. She had to.
Thankfully she was already starting to see some results. She learned that she could calm herself quicker now, which immediately calmed the swarm. So she was indeed learning about that and how they interacted with her life. But…there was still a lot of work to be done. She knew that.
>> "So, I get Charlotte with her tiny webmasters, and Agnes with the flies and roaches. This should be interesting…C'mon, girls, cheer up. Megan, Agnes needs someone she can learn from. There are not many mutants running around with bugs under their skin..."
Oh…my…god… Did he really not know any type of decorum. How much she wanted to kill the boy! What would be the worst and most gruesome death for him? Anything!
She sighed but apparently this seemed to perk up the other young lady’s attention…
>> "Alright troop. Shape up! No more scaring mansion goers. Back to your posts!"
Surprise. Humorus. Terrifying. Creepy. Humorous again. All of these emotions ran through Agnes mind as she stepped back and watched as the young woman named Megan began to shout out orders and surprisingly all of her spider’s obeyed. It really seemed like she had an excellent wrangle on them. It was the type of level of expertise that Agnes would have loved to have over her insects. To feel fear, to let her heart rate go up without harming someone innocent in the process, that would be a dream come true.
Agnes watched Megan with a newfound awe but quickly tried to stop looking like the gawking teenager that she was. She remained composed and watched the spiders disappear, following Megan’s last order.
>> “I'm not exactly a teacher type person. Short attention span, lack of patience, yadda yadda... but if I can help out, I'll try…Nice to officially meet you."
Looking down at the hand, Agnes paused for a moment before a big smile plastered on her face and she reached out and firmly shook the woman’s hand. There was a great sense of relief, to know that she was not the only one out there. That there was a mutant with a creepy crawlie almost identical to hers and yet Megan handled it so well. She did not look meek or freaked out like Agnes did. That was definitely something to look up to.
Shaking her hand, she smiled wide. “It’s a pleasure to officially meet you too. Y-You don’t have to trouble yourself, you know, training me or anything. But…” she shrugged meekly, “Any tips you have might help.”
Gawain watched the girls with a satisfied smirk and his arms crossed over his chest.
"That's more like it, ladies. Friendly creepy crawlies all around. Not that I've got anythin' against them, but do you think it would be possible to have them line-dancin' somewhere else? i can always open the danger room for ya'll if you wanna train. Them, or each other, or both. Well, not you, Megan, ya have to be signed in first. But then, the Mansion' all yours to bug."
The young knight chuckled. The girls were just so easy to annoy. He did love both of them, Agnes for being the shy little bug devis she was, and Megan for matching his sass with her own. But still. On gawain days, they really were easy to tease. He smiled, and cheerfully waved them away.
“It’s a pleasure to officially meet you too. Y-You don’t have to trouble yourself, you know, training me or anything. But… Any tips you have might help.”
She laughed, abrupt and short. "Oh, trust me. It's no trouble. If it was, I wouldn't be doing it." She wondered how fundamentally different she was from Agnes, and if any of the things she had used to get her own bugs under control could work for the girl... She didn't get to think on it long, though.
Well.... that was quick. Just barely moved in, and her roommate was already asking her to leave? Megan had just beaten her previous record... by a landslide. Her curiosity was spike by whatever this 'Danger room' was... mainly because it had DANGER in the title. Which was kind of like sitting her in front of a nice, shiny read button and telling her not to press it. ... or like being told not to pull the fire alarm switch. It was going to happen, inevitably. But those were questions for later.
Raising a dark brow at Gawain's comment, she shot him her best dead pan expression while crossing her arms over her chest. Her lips pursed and bent to pick up a pillow that had come off her bed with her blankets. A pillow that she could adequately beat him with. Mercilessly.
With her pillow in hand, which she fluffed menacingly, she grinned at Agnes and took a step toward the gender shifter. "No mercy, Agnes. No mercy."
Agnes blushed a little as the older mutant said she had no problem with helping her train in her ability. The runaway had been doing the best she could by herself but there was only so much she could learn without some kind of instruction. She really was too embarrassed to ask others and that training session with Gawain that nearly got her killed was not really something she wanted to repeat.
Still though, maybe this would be of help. Maybe Gawain did something right for once! She wouldn’t have to throttle him after all!
The runaway turned on her heel and was about to actually thank Gawain for helping her out the right way for once. Mouth open, eyes lit up with thanks, she nearly had gotten the words out of her throat when…
…he ruined it…
>> "That's more like it, ladies. But then, the Mansion' all yours to bug…Have fun, you two."
Eye twitch…eye twitch…
He really just didn’t know when to keep his mouth shut did he? He just always had a knack for doing something nice and then completely ruin it by being…HIM! God how she wanted to slug him once again. No one could blame her for it. It was obvious he had a knack for grading on other people’s nerves. It was just finding the right amount of people to bum rush him and make him pay for all of it.
But a movement caught her attention out of the corner of her eye. Megan, lips pursed leaned down, grabbed a pillow and then shot her a devious look.
>> "No mercy, Agnes. No mercy."
Lesson one: show no mercy. Agnes was liking this girl more and more already. Leaning down she snapped up a pillow that had been cast to the ground earlier. It was fluffy, soft, and not at all hard enough to cause bruise. Maybe next time she would toss in a couple of oranges that way she could beat Gawain to a pulp without leaving behind any markings. But, in the meantime, for their purposes, it would have to suffice.
Edging closer to Gawain, Agnes, of course, was the first to strike. She knew how to swing a pillow, having showing that she was already pretty proficient with a bag of marshmallows. She knew how to strike hard and fast and to always aim for the head.
"Oh no" Gawain said, eyes wide with amusement that soon turned into panic and fear "Oh no, no, no no no nonono dont even think..."
They did. Think. And they did hit him too. With pillows. Mercilessly.
Gawain rolled into a ball, trying to defend himself with his arms; it was hard to do, with both girls attacking him at the same time. This was not how pillow fights should go. Pillow fights should be everyone against everyone, not two against one.
"Come on!" he whined, grabbing at Megan's pillow and pulling on it; he was gasping for air, half laughing, half serious "Not fair!"
She had to admit, her very first pillow fight felt amazing. Beating the tar outta someone with your fists was way to much work, but with a pillow she found that a certain amount of satisfaction came with each swing.
But it didn't last long. The boy snagged her pillow, she tugged- he tugged, she lost the tug o' war. Megan stepped back, beaming triumphantly as she watched Agnes wail away on him some more. "I'd say you were asking for it, Roomy." Megan set about picking up her blankets, depositing them in a heap on her bed. She'd exact the rest of her revenge later, by going through his socks and organizing them into mismatching pairs. "So... Agnes. Have time to train tonight, or are you heading back to bed? Because if we are being kicked out so someone can sleep, I plan on making the rest of tonight fun."
She turned, and grinned. Waiting for the girls answer. She was really interested in finding this 'Danger room', Gawainya or no Gawinya.
The cries fell on deaf ears. Agnes was not going to stop. The boy needed to learn his having a big mouth indeed had its repercussions. He needed to pay and that was why Agnes swung as hard as she did with the pillow. After all, Megan had told her that this was take no prisoners so she was going to intact that to the fullest of her ability.
Whack! Whack! THUD!
Each pillow strike brought small, satisfied smile to Agnes’ face. She was tickled pink that she could wail on the knight and had someone to back her up. Megan seemed like the type that could see through the mutant’s charms as well. It was enough to make Agnes grin as she kept striking, aiming for any spot of the boy’s body that he was currently not protecting. Once he had attempted to grab at Megan’s pillow, Agnes smacked him good across the face with her pillow. That was definitely going to sting.
>> "I'd say you were asking for it, Roomy.”
Agnes huffed, nodded and tossed the pillow onto Gawain’s head. She was breathing heavily, exhausted, but damn did she feel good. Maybe she would hire Gawain on a regular basis so she can wallop him with a pillow whenever she was feeling stressed. It definitely seemed to make things easier for her.
But before she could thank Gawain for being a good punching bag, she turned when Megan addressed her.
>> “So... Agnes. Have time to train tonight, or are you heading back to bed? Because if we are being kicked out so someone can sleep, I plan on making the rest of tonight fun."
Immediately a small blush appeared on her cheeks. If she were a different person, she would have commented on the innuendo in that. Not to say that she did not think that Megan was pretty, she was, but…Agnes was still unsure about…certain things about herself. She sighed as she shuffled that thought again and instead matched Megan’s smile with one of her own. She grinned and nodded her head in agreement.
“I’ve got time. Especially if Gawain is going to be so rude and kick us out of the room.” she shrugged with a smile.
Gawain defended himself with one pillow against another. When finally both girls gave up, he lay on his back on the bed, gasping for air. he really wished no one would walk in right now and misunderstand the situation.
"Yeah, you girls go have fun" he muttered, rolling over "Welcome to the mansion, Megs, try not to blow it up. I'll check you in when I wake up. Shoo, you two, go train the cutie bugs."
And with that, Gawain pulled the balnket over his head. He really needed some sleep.
