The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

As Ted spoke Neena mumbed 'I see' and 'Really?' at various appropriate intervals, as well as other 'Hmm'ing noises. She gave the impression of a rather eccentric detective examining a witness to a crime; all she needed was a magnifying glass.
"Be glad you're not me then," she remarked with a grin, when he mentioned tripping and hitting a wall. She and walls had a very close relationship, as well as with corners of counters, chair legs and the undersides of tables.
"So tell me, are you a mutant too? I'm guessing so, as most non-mutants seem to dislike us at best."
She nodded, and exited his personal space. "Yes, though nothing spectacular. Enhanced sight, basically.
"So, how far have you pushed yourself so far? Have you timed how long it takes for the pain to wear off? Or do you think it varies?" She regarded him thoughtfully, wondering if he would object to some sort of device to provide a constant, though not unbearable, pain to keep him transformed. If not, would it have an adverse effect on his mind?

Damn, she sure asks a lot of questions. "Uhh, no, not really. I just kind of, wait for it to stop hurting. It just seems that I'll only need to transform in a fight, and getting hurt is something that seems to follow those around." He grinned, it had never occured to him to find out about timing. He'd just assumed that if he needed to transform, then he'd be in enough trouble anyway and likely to get. "I suppose i could try it, but wounds heal just the same, so different hurts would cause me to stay transformed for different times. I think." He shrugged uselessly. "I only recently learnt to control my transformations, before then it was just like passing out, and waking up fully healed somewhere completly different. And often feeling like I've just had a full dinner." He shuddered at the things he might have done. He'd heard reports on televisions of people getting attacked by a 'monster', and he assumed that was him.

She nodded agreement to that, one reason she tried to avoid up-close battles. She could feel pain, and wasn't fond of it...

She wrinkled her nose at that last comment. "Lovely.... Glad you've learned some control then. And I'm sure the rest of the city is happy as well." She chuckled. "Sooo.... which form do you prefer to fight in?"
The question was simple, and perhaps the answer was obvious, but her tone held a slightly conspiratorial note. That plus her grin was a bit.... toothy....

Ted grinned. "I like fighting in my beast form. When evolution has designed humans as being very non-specific, and so can do lots of things, my beast form seems entirely focused on combat. It seems like some sort of defencive reflex, like movig your hand away from a hot surface, only a lot more extravagent. I'm stronger, faster, and I get to play with fangs and claws. Plus, I get a tail!" He grinned. He liked his tail, even though it didn't seem to be at all useful. But it didn't have to be. It was a tail!

Neena's grinned widened at his answer, showing even more pearly whites against the darkness of her skin.
"So then, how would you feel if I could find some sort of.... I dunno.... Let's say a pain stimulator for you? A device that you could control the level of pain you feel, maybe cause what you need to transform, and stay that way?"
She'd noticed a few technology whizes in the school's roster when she'd gone over it earlier. Maybe she could get with one of them and see if they could whip something up for Ted to use. Pain tolerance was one of those sensations that tended to dull after overuse, so most likely the device would need adjusting every now and then. But it would come in handy if Ted ever decided to join the Xmen.

Ted grinned, "Cool! That would be so helpful, as I wouldn't have to go get injured and transform partway through a fight. That's really not a good idea, because it can take a few minutes. Can we get something like that?" Ted's stomach started to rumble. "Actually, you can tell me about that later. I think I'm going to go off to the kitchen and whip myself something to eat. See ya round!" Ted dashed off towards the door, and with a wave he disappeared into the corridor.

Neena's heartfelt laugh followed Ted out the door. She really liked him.
After closing down the computer, she headed out into the Mansion to try and locate either Ruby Lupin or Chip Jay. That pair seemed to be the resident geniuses, and would be the most logical places to start.
