Individual
Character's full name: Adrián Narváez Alias/ Nickname/ Code name: None Gender: Male Age: Twenty-eight Date of Birth: 9/22/82 Nationality/ Ethnicity: Spanish Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: Barcelona, Spain
Appearance
Hair color and style: Black and usually well-kept; not long, yet not overly short either. Eyes: A muddy brown Height: 6'2” (187,96cm) Build: Tall and muscular; a runner's body. Visible mutation: None Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: As far as scars, he only has one significant scar from getting his appendix removed when he was sixteen. He also has a few childhood scars from falling off his bike, or getting into a fight during his teen years, but otherwise nothing serious. He has one tattoo of a golden eagle with wings wide open and a beak raised in the air, inked in black and white on his right bicep. He has his right ear pierced. Other features: None
Everyday clothing style: Being a high school teacher, of course Adrián dresses professionally, but not too much so. A pair of khakis and a nice button-down shirt often does the trick, even a suit if he finds the occasion deems it necessary. That's not his preferred choice of clothing however, only what he is supposed to wear to work from Monday to Friday. During his off hours, he'll usually be found in a pair of jeans with holes in the knees and a simple gray t-shirt that cost him ten bucks at a store down the street from his apartment. He has a leather jacket which he loves to wear, as well as a silver ring his father gave to him when he was fourteen. Due to his ability, clothes can often be a burden however, what with the fact that they do not shift with him. When he intends on shifting, he will wear the least amount of clothing possible, while still looking decent. A pair of shorts will do the trick. Uniform: None Sleepwear: A pair of plaid pants or briefs. Miscellaneous clothing: He wears rectangular-shaped, black-rimmed reading glasses – he was never fond of contacts.
Character
Personality: Adrián is a genuinely good man with manners and a history that hints to no tarnished behavior of any kind. He's a gentleman to the women and always seems to have a smile on his face, even after a stressful day in front of a classroom filled with seventeen or eighteen year-old kids who are only there for the credit, and don't actually want to learn any Spanish any time soon. Adrián is a humorous guy, always cracking jokes to try and relieve others' stress when things are more tense – some may end up finding him a little inappropriate because of this habit. That humor is present in a classroom as well, however he does have that control (most of the time) over his students even if they aren't constantly hassled when they talk out of turn here and there. He's laid-back, definitely, but not so much so that people lose respect for him. If he finds it deemed necessary, Adrián can show some fangs, but his bark is always worse than his bite.
When Adrián gets close to people, whether they are friends or loved ones, he will do everything he can in order to protect them, even if that involves stepping in front of a speeding bullet. He'd do it in a heartbeat, and then do it all over again if he has the chance. Protective. That's him in a nutshell, although some may find it irritating, especially when he does not want someone doing something that could end up hurting them, even when knowing that they have the ability that can prove to be a large advantage. It would be exactly like him to take a speeding bullet to someone with the ability to regeneration; no matter how stupid that seems. Other traits that can describe Adrián are stubborn, intelligent, witty, bookworm, ambitious and artistic. Hobbies/ Interests: Reading (English or Spanish), drawing, riding his motorcycle, working on his motorcycle, flying in his eagle form, listening to old rock music, cooking, traveling. Job or part time job and description: High school Spanish teacher (Juniors and Seniors) Fears/ phobias/ concerns: He has always been afraid of small, cramped spaces. It's not enough to label it as claustrophobic, but he does not like it at all. He's always worried about his ability being in the way of achieving some of the things he wants to do in life (ironically), especially when it comes to his citizenship in the United States. He doesn't want to be deported back to Spain because he can shift into an eagle at will. Special talents: He's fluent in English, Spanish (being his native tongue) as well as French, he's a talented artist and could have become an artist if he would have wanted to, he's a fantastic cook.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Good, on the verge of neutral. His intentions are always good, and his heart is in the right place, but like any human, it does happen where he finds his way down the wrong path for a little while. Somehow, he always finds his way back again however.
Mutations
Mutation description: Adrián has the ability to shape-shift into the form of a golden eagle, also known as an Aquila chrysaetos. It is native to most parts of North America, but also some of the European and Asian countries, including Adrián's home-country of Spain. The shifting process does not take too long – thirty seconds at the most – but it is quite uncomfortable, considering his bones have to mold themselves into the form of a fully grown eagle. The slight pain only lasts a few seconds after the initial shift however; the same goes for when he shifts from eagle to human again.
When in his eagle form, he is 84 centimeters (approximately 33 inches) in length, with a wingspan of 189 centimeters (approximately 74 inches). He weighs 6.5 kilograms (14 lbs); overall considered to be on the larger scale compared to other golden eagles. He has mostly dark brown feathers but occasionally black can be found, as well as a bit of white on the tip of his wings. The plumage around his neck is a golden hue, glowing slightly in the sunlight.
Strengths: Having had his ability for thirteen years now, Adrián has developed a sort of resistance to the initial pain he feels when he shifts, therefore he barely even feels it anymore, giving his shifting a graceful appearance. In fact, although it usually averages at thirty seconds, he has sometimes found himself shifting fully from human to eagle in less than twenty seconds: his record thus far is eighteen seconds.
Adrián can fly for a long period of time without getting tired. As far as speed and height is concerned, Adrián can fly up to 200 miles per hour and can go up to 10,000 feet (3,048 meters) high before starting to either lose control. Just like any other eagle, he has the enhanced eyesight typical to the type of bird he can shift into (only in animal form, of course), therefore he can spot a certain person with details from a distance – or prey, if he's hungry for a little snack; he doesn't necessarily enjoy the food others of his kind may like however. Weaknesses: Adrián's clothes do not shift with him when he goes from human to eagle and then back again, therefore this would definitely slow him down, considering he's not the type to go out completely naked in public. Secondly, Adrián uses quite a bit of energy while shifting and although that does not influence his golden eagle form at all, when he's human again he will need some time to recuperate.
When in his human form for an extended period of time without shifting, it's like a sort of beast is lurking in the pit of his stomach, slowly urging him to let it out. Usually, he can't go more than a week or two without letting his inner bird spread its wings for a while; when he does lose control and shift unwillingly, the pain will be excruciating and chances are, he won't have much control over his actions once in his bird form and turning back will take a lot of energy from him.
Secondary mutation description: None Strengths: None Weaknesses: None
Fighting Style
Explanation: Adrián did kick-boxing throughout High School when he lived in Spain and continued during his college years at New York University, which is most likely the only form of fighting he would be able to use. He also carries around a pocketknife in his pocket, which could be used for self-defense if he finds it deemed necessary. Pros for fighting style: He had been boxing for a little over thirteen years now, therefore he's quite experienced with a few tricks up his sleeve. He's a fast runner also, which proves to be an advantage in certain circumstances. His knife is seldom used, but it's there and it's definitely considered as a 'pro'. Cons for fighting style: Adrián was never the type to use violence, and even if he was forced to fight back, he'd have to think about it for a fraction of a second before acting – also, he's never going to kill anybody, even if it's his life that's on the line. Most often than not he'll avoid any kind of damage inflicted on another human being altogether.

History Of Your Character
Adrián Narváez was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain, the fourth and final child of a professor at Barcelona University and his wife, a successful Spanish actress and socialite. To say the Narváez were wealthy people would be an understatement; Adrián always was raised in a very large old-fashioned home with maids and a cook, not to mention nannies whenever his parents were too busy to care for their children. Life was never dull for Adrián, that was for sure, especially not when he had two older brothers (Twins, seven years older) and a sister (five years older) to spend his time with. Although he was much younger, he always did get along with his siblings, especially Antonio, the younger of the twins. Peaceful, simple and fun: those three words best describe Adrián's childhood.
When he was seven years old his mother took him and his three siblings to America; more specifically New York City. She was preforming in a Broadway musical throughout that summer and so they would be residing there for a few months. That was when Adrián first decided that this was where he wanted to live once old enough. New York was such a beautiful place, with all of the skyscrapers, cars and people. He loved the lights at night and the greasy American fast food. When they returned home that September, Adrián was actually a little upset and for the months that fallowed, complained to his mother that he wanted to move there for good.
Of course, that never happened and for quite a number of years he didn't return back to the States. However, he did travel to France a few times and even spent an entire week in Italy when he was twelve. As the years went by, Adrián found himself drawn to the arts. He was and still is amazing at drawing and evidently inherited his mother's talent of acting. In school he was the best in his year, always scoring high marks and challenging himself to do better. He learned to speak English and French fluently and even dabbled in some Italian as well as Galician. Everything seemed unusually perfect at that point for the Spanish teenager, but of course all good things must come to an end, right? Well, that end came soon enough.
He was fifteen years old when his powers first manifested and to say the first few months afterward were hard on him would be an understatement. It all started in July of 1998, a few months before his sixteenth birthday. He had recently graduated after his second cycle of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) and was now ready to start University – or so he'd thought before that night. His plans had been all set, he'd be going to the United States, where he'd study at New York University and then eventually become a teacher in a crowded New York High School. Realizing that he was a Mutant, those dreams almost crashed to the ground.
Mutants were only just starting to come out for the public eye to see and to be honest, a lot of people feared them, including Adrián's father, who voiced out on some occasions in the past that they shouldn't be allowed to roam free – how he wouldn't be able to cope with any freak show hurting his kids. Surprise, surprise, his kid was a freak show and this led Adrián to close in on himself. He was stressed all of the time and most of all, hurting. At first he had little to no control on his shifting; he knew a few seconds in advance when it would happen, so he managed to hide it for a while, but how long can you keep the fact that you can change into a golden eagle a secret?
For an entire year Adrián put off his plans of moving to New York, working part-time at a coffee shop as he lived in a small apartment. He wanted to go to New York City, but the fear that something would go wrong because of his ability – or disability, as he would call it. His parents are what got him to finally leave. It was a windy June afternoon, a little under a year after his powers had manifested. He had been isolating himself from everyone he'd known for a long time now and his parents wouldn't hear any of his excuses any longer. When they visited him, a report on Mutants came up on the television and arguments arose between Adrián and his father – leading to his coming out as a Mutant.
His parents freaked out, to say it nicely. The fallowing morning Adrián had started planning his departure, applying for a student visa in New York City. The only person who dared come and see him at the airport was his brother Antonio, who had learned the... terrible news from his father the night before. The two men hugged it out before Adrián got on his plane and the last words Antonio said to his younger brother were: “No me importa lo que son. Para mí, tú eres mi hermano y yo voy a ayudar si lo necesite.” which means he doesn't care that Adrián is a Mutant, and that he'll always be there for him.
For four years Adrián dedicated his life to his studies, pretending he was just any old Spanish Immigrant; one that lacked any form of special power. He dated here and there, although the girls never did last too long. He was never a player, not at all; he was merely afraid of the fact that he could never fully be honest, not when he couldn't possibly tell them exactly who he was half the time. Hence most of the breakups. He was never really upset by this however, knowing that the one woman meant for him would eventually come along and everything would be okay. Until then, he would just have to be patient.
Adrián graduated from College in 2003 at the age of twenty-one and from there, had no idea where to go or what to do. He did know that he didn't want to leave New York however, which was why, two years later, he was working as a high school Spanish teacher. For a long time life was a pattern for Adrián, he'd get up in the morning and, during the week, work from eight up until four, coming home to a lonely apartment, where he would make himself dinner and either read the evening away or draw in his little second bedroom, which was used as an office. In 2007 Adrián was officially an American citizen, but when the Registration Act came into play, he grew worried that he'd be found out and deported back to Spain.
In early November, a little under two months after the registration outrage began, Adrián decided to leave New York behind, at least for a little while. He'd been more and more concerned about his own safety if he stayed in the country, even if his powers enabled him to easily blend in, and even if they weren't considered dangerous. So he went to on a “vacation” to visit his brother Antonio, whom he hadn't seen in eight years. He stayed there for a little longer than necessary, even after the law had been dropped back in the States. In August of 2008 he came back and took off where he'd left off with his teaching position. All and all he got pretty lucky, and for the years to come he would never take that for granted.
Up until this day life has been calm again, with Adrián keeping a low profile as far as his Mutation is concerned. He does shift on occasion, but he does it discretely and often enough so that he doesn't have to worry about an unexpected shift in the middle of a crowded area. It's safe to say that Adrián doesn't want to really be a part of the Mutant activity that has been going about these past few years, but there are occasions where he's tempted to try and do something.

The weather was getting colder in New York City, but that did not bother Adrián very much as he rubbed both hands together, the friction warming them in seconds. He had just entered his usual coffee shop haunt on First, a smile on his face as he ordered his usual. It was a cloudy, bleak Thursday morning, rain having fallen all last night. Everything was still wet and dreary, but none of this seemed to be able to bring the man down, not even the fact that classes were to start in half an hour, which gave Adrián little time to actually get to school. A large coffee to begin the busy day ahead was what he needed however, and besides, he didn't have a class to teach until second period. It wouldn't be a nightmare if he were to be a few seconds late, now would it?
Mind you, he did arrive on time, and with five minutes to spare before the initial bell that signaled the start of the day was to actually ring. Overall his day went well, to say the least, but everything had to go down at one point or another, right? A day couldn't go perfectly right; there had to be one thing wrong.
It was a little after four o'clock that evening and, beginning to feel the weight of the day on his shoulders, the tired Spanish man made his way onto the bus that would take him to his apartment in Queens. He had just crossed the Robert F. Kennedy bridge when it happened: there was a sudden rumbling noise coming from the back of the bus before it started to shake, sending some of the passengers that had been standing up, flying in different directions. Most people were confused, looking around as the bus came to a complete halt in the middle of the busy street, but Adrián stayed put, getting the distinct feeling that what was about to happen wouldn't be good.
Two hooded figures made their presence known, standing as tall as they could in front of the passengers, what could be seen of their faces contracted into sly, mean smiles. A little girl whined, claiming that she didn't like this one bit. Truth be told, neither did Adrián. “You will all stay quiet,” the man evidently in charge said, “Don't even bother using your cellphones, they won't work.” he added, gesturing to his partner. The bus had been highjacked by two Mutants on some sort of mission and the outcome wasn't a good one.
Adrián had been right in thinking that this day couldn't be a good day for much longer.
