The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> "Mate, I'm never going down there again, it's just sick. That’s not a basement, it's a dungeon, and by the look and smell, a bit of a torture chamber as well. If those people were genuinely that girl's parents, I think they got what they deserved. I bet if we search the house we find some thumb screws and whips, or other things really F***ed up like that."
While coming back from questioning several neighbors Jorge caught up with Alchemist. The X-man had brought back some interesting information. It was a mistake for the detective to have assumed that girl was placed in the basement as a safety precaution. It seemed that instead it was used for something that made the X-man’s stomach turned. The detective hardened his eyes as he placed his hands in his pockets and stared down at the ground. He could only shake his head at hearing this news…it fit with what the neighbors were saying.
With a sigh, he turned his eyes back to the Aussie X-Man. “Yeah, unfortunately that fits with what a lot of the neighbors have been saying.”
He pulled out his notepad and began to pull back a few pages. While the mutant had been gone to inspect the house, Jorge had been talking to a few of the nosey people gathered. From them he was able to gather some very interesting information about these people.
“Apparently most of the neighbors were told that these people’s daughter was enrolled in an all-girls academy in Rhode Island.” he said as he shook his head. “Everyone knew they had a daughter but were told by others, who were told by the parents, that the girl was accepted into some academy out of state and they she was not allowed to visit.” he growled a little as he began to pace.
Working on the force, Jorge had run into scenes like this people. Supposedly loving parents hiding their deepest and darkest secrets. Sometimes children like this were never found until too late, other times they were discovered completely by accident or because one person or another asked too many questions. The detective always had a soft spot for kids like this…and a want to completely deck whatever parent would dare do suck atrocities to their own children. It was not right and something that the detective never wanted to let go unpunished. Unfortunately he was bound by his badge and could not take the law into his own hands…no matter how much he wanted to.
Another glance to Alchemist and he sighed. “There’s more to this story as well…” he said as he pulled the X-man aside and whispered. “Neighbors say that these folks also had an older son. But he disappeared awhile ago too.” he sighed as he glanced back to the house, almost as if waiting for another body to be found. “So we gotta wonder…where is that girl’s older brother?”
Cafas listened and nodded as the detective ran through what the neighbours had said. He looked back at the house momentarily, sighed, and pulled his eyes away from the scene. The day was certainly not going exactly how he had intended. Staring straight up at the sky he began to mull over the information they had. It didn't make him feel any better about it at all. Looking back at the detective he posed his own question. "Do... do you think maybe... I mean, I've been a mutant attacked for my genetics... I have no family because of it, and I'm still alive, hell, I'm free of what they were gonna do to me. If she has an older brother, could he have escaped?" He thought about it a little more. The sound of shouts and crumbling brickwork filled the air for a second or so.
If it were me, which it could have been, what would I have done?
Cafas shut his eye for a moment as he looked around. knowing very little about the situation other than it was a crime on so many levels he decided to go with what he knew about himself. A cameraman nearby had his focus tuned on the detective and X-trainee as Cafas looked at him, the look on his face sadness more than anything. That would almost certainly make the news, which he wasn't as happy about as what he'd just thought of. He approached the camera as they began the process of switching tapes. They had to have some form of playback capable machine with them. He intercepted the intern they had doing the footwork. "I'm going to need to see that footage." The intern looked worried but resilient, he wasn't going to be that easily duped, is what Cafas assumed he was thinking.
He's gonna make my life more difficult than it needs to be.
"You're going to have to talk to my supervisor for that." Okay so he was passing him on to the higher ups on the scene. Well, that was fair enough, he hadn't expected the kid to have the authority, he had just hoped that he'd be nervous and scared enough to do it anyway. He followed the intern to a news van, watched him get in and a man in a suit get out. "You the kid's supervisor? We need to see that footage for the investigation." The man agreed and within minutes Cafas was sitting in the van watching the playback. He was only interested in crowd shots. He found one complete scan before the girl had been found, and another after. It was all he needed. He got the crew to digitalise it for him and put it on a disk. After signing some forms that said he wouldn't show it to the public, excepting when necessary for investigative purposes, he was on his way.
Hopefully this will show something.
Cafas came back to the detective and showed him the disk. "Got some complete crowd pans on here, before and after the girl was discovered. If we can find anyone who left we may be on the right track. You never know, maybe he was here."

The detective was quiet as he mused Alchemist’s question to himself. He was right, the X-men really did have a good point. Could that be the whole point of this? Maybe it was the brother, a mutant, who brought down the whole house, but to what end? Was he looking for his sister and simply could not find her? With that impress amount of power, he would have more than likely been able to crack open the door without issue. But they found her, still locked away in that hellish basement, so what was the point of it all?
Jorge watched as the X-Man went off, apparently heading for one of the news vans. The detective was not sure if that were the best move, but in the end, it was not his decision. He trusted that the mutant crime-fighter would not any ill advised move to jeopardize the situation. So he let him go without a word and turned back to house which continued to fall apart up ahead. His mind reeled as he attempted to make some kind of sense of what was going on but he just ended up with more questions.
Who did this? The missing “Brother”? If it was the brother, how did he pull it off? Was he a mutant? If so, what was the motive? Simple revenge? Rescue of a mistreated sister? Why did he leave her behind? None of it was making any sense! All this was hanging on the idea that the brother had even been present for the incident but so far there was no evidence to back up anything theory like that. None of the neighbors knew of what the boy looked like anymore, nor were any sightings of a strange teenager in the neighborhood. More had to be found, there were no two ways about it.
Then the X-Man returned.

Jorge nodded and was about to respond to the news when his cell phone suddenly began to ring in his pocket. Quickly he fished it out and held it to his ear.
“Cervantes,” he quickly said. “Yeah…uh-huh…okay good, keep a guard on her until we get there.” he snapped his phone closed and once more locked eyes on the X-Man. “She’s made it to the hospital. The paramedics got her stable but they saw it looks like she was down there for awhile. I think you and I need should head to that hospital keep an eye on her, just in case whoever did this decides to come after her next.” Jorge turned and began to head to his black, ’67 Chevy Impala and glanced back to make sure the mutant was following him. “We’ll stop by the precinct and pick up a portable DVD player or a laptop so we can view that crowd pan, maybe we’ll see out prep in it…”
