The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> ”If Lee was going to be anywhere. It would be here…or the apartment.”[/color]
It definitely did seem pretty hopeless. A cop looking at a rather large, maybe possible crime scene out in the street, but what else could he really do? This man’s wife was gone and it was obvious that he truly cared about her. Plus interviews and questionings towards Tarin were done prior and there was nothing. The man was clean, so he did not do anything to his wife. There were too many missing puzzle pieces.
Jorge remained still as he stood in place, eyes roaming over everything in the scene. The coffee stand was pretty standard. People coming and going, grabbing their cup of Joe before they ran off to their next important task. The detective wondered how many of them had seen Lee before? How many had even taken notice that she did disappear? What about the area itself? How much had the place changed since she disappeared? Not much, he could at least answer that, except for the placement of people, trash cans, maybe a new outdoor sign or two. Other than that though, the world moved on after the disappearance of this woman. It was as if it simply absorbed her into itself, marking her off the face of the planet. It’s amazing how easy it is for someone to vanish without trace. The environment was the same but any physical evidence disappears within a day or two. There would be no getting any of that back.
Still, if Tarin really could see the dead, and he did not see Lee, that had to at least be some good news.
He jotted down another note about placement of items as photographed back then and compared to now. There was little else to do but take notes, but it did put him in the mindset of the supposed victim.
Jorge sighed as he tucked his pen behind his ear, old habit from high school, yet still followed him to this day. He turned back to Tarin and eyed him closely. “Mr. Brooks, I know this must be difficult. I really cannot imagine what you’re going through. But…do you know of anyone who would want to hurt her? Or you by proxy?”

Jorge was doing his best. Tarin knew that, and he appreciated it more than he could really say. The detective asked him the only question Tarin thought could be truly relevant. Unfortunately it was also a question that Tarin couldn’t answer. Definitely not to someone outside of the Kabal.
”No.” he said simply, shaking his head slowly. It was a lie, there were plenty of people who would want to hurt him and Lee. Most of them were in foreign countries though. Or dead. Tarin sighed and gave the other man a level look.
”I know how hopeless this is, and I can’t thank you enough for even driving out here to look things over.” he said.
”You don’t have to try anymore though, not now. I know how hopeless it looks.”
”I just wanted to know that someone actually cared. That she was more than just a stack of paper.”
Tarin pulled out another picture he’d brought, it was one that he’d framed and given to Lee for one of their anniversaries. It was the two of them at Coney Island in a photo booth, they really looked happy.

The detective regarded the man closely. Never had he seen so much pain in someone’s eyes. He could never imagine what the medium was going through, having to sit back helpless as the woman he loved simply up and vanished. Jorge still could not decipher whether this was through an act or her own or if she were forced, but deep down he knew that the scene was a cold one. He was sure there was a box somewhere in evidence lock up. A box that had Lee’s name scrawled across it in permanent marker and labeled as a cold case.
He sighed as he watched Tarin pull a photo out. The detective was respectful to keep his distance, let the man look it over in silence as Jorge pulled his coat open and slipped his notepad and pen back into his pocket heavy handedly. There really was little more that he could do. The file he looked over already had statements, interviews and scene photos. Other than walk around and get the lay of the land, what else could he do? Knock on a few doors? Question people who have been questioned before? Dredge up memories that were probably long forgotten or mix up old ones with fantasies and assumptions? Jorge couldn’t poison the case like that.
>> ”She’s a person.”
Jorge nodded as he stuffed his hands into his pockets and caught a glimpse of the picture Tarin had pulled out. He had to admit that the both of them did look extremely happy? Why would she willingly walk away from all that…while she was pregnant? And if it was no voluntarily, then who would drag away a woman with child? There were a lot of sick people in the world, so sick that Jorge tended to forget that criminals can cross certain lines…there was always at least one.
After a moment of letting the man have his silence, Jorge nodded.
“She won’t be a stack of papers to me, Mr. Brooks. I’ll do my best, you have my word on that.” he nodded. “I gave you my contact card. If you remember anything or come across something that could be important, you call me, day or night okay?” Really what else could he say to the man? The case was frozen cold and he did not want to give the man false hope. But…there was always room to have hope somewhere. “Don’t give up, Mr. Brooks. I know you must have been told that over and over again and it must sound like it is of no help, but stay strong and keep the faith. You use that number if you need me, you understand? I will do the best I can on my end.”
