The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Nicki smiled and looked over at Michael. "Oh don't worry, no one gets out of kitchen duty. I'll find something for you to do" she went back to her task of getting everything. The kitchen was large, so the possibiltity of this taking a while was high.
"Actually, when it comes to this kind of stuff, I don't like to just absorb the knowledge and run with it. It kinda feels like cheating you know?" she looked over her shoulder at Michael, then turned back to what she was doing. "I have absorbed some recipes but the one I'm doing here I actually made up. It took me an entire summer to get it right too" Nicki smiled.
"So come on, tell me about yourself. You mentioned parents, any brothers and sisters? What do you want to do when you get out of here? All those typical questions" Nicki smiled. She wasn't used to interaction on a highly personal level and, in all honesty, she didn't like talking about herself very much.

“Experimentation is supposed to make the best food, at least that’s what my mom used to say.” He watched as Nicki went about gathering the various things, glad that he’d be able to help. “I can see how something you came up with on your own would be more rewarding that something you can just suck out of a book.”
“Single child here,” said Michael, “As for what I want to do I with thinking maybe police, seeing as like to help people and my power means I can walk into a gun fight with not worry about myself.”
“What about you? Brothers or sister? And what do you intend to do with all that knowledge you’re accumulating up there.”

"Only child huh? I thought that went extinct a long time ago" she chuckled lightly. "And a cop is very noble, and, like you said, you'd be in a lot less danger...providing you would tell everyone you were a mutant..." Nicki trailed off. She had finally grabbed everything. She cracked two egs in a bowl and handed them a wisk to Michael. "Here, beat these"
"Yeah, I have an older brother. " Nicki nodded, starting to scoop out some flour. "As for what I want to do with my life after here...I don't really know. I know I want to go to college but...like I said, until about a year ago, my entire life was mapped out with very little variation. I was going to marry this guy. I was going to have kids. I was going to be a wife. Now I can be a bunch of stuff, none of which I have thought about to any higher extent" Nicki shrugged, looking over eveything before grabbing the shortening.

Taking the whisk Michael set about beating the eggs. He’d seen his mom do it a couple of times, so knew roughly what he was doing. “Yeah, I don’t know if the NYPD accept mutants, but if they do I’ll tell them my power. If not, well I don’t think I can keep it secret in that line of work.”
“So is your brother a mutant to or are you the only one in the family?” He didn’t know at this point whether there was any link between mutant siblings and their powers, but he figure that seeing as siblings are alike the their must be some sort of link between their power. This was all assuming of course her brother had any powers.

"Well, there are so many mutants that are stuarting to surface, I think it will be harder to turn them away at this point...especially when they have powers like yours that are so benefitial in the line of duty" Nicki explained, starting to blend the shortening and flour together
"Um, I don't think my brother has powers," Nicki shook her head no as she focused on her work. "My brother and my dad are kind of...um...anti-mutant so I think I'm the only one runnin around with that mutant gene..."

So that’s why she seemed a little uneasy about talking about her parents thought Michael as he continued to beat the eggs. “I hope you’re right, as I’d love to be a cop. Back when I was around fifteen I did some vigilante stuff. I’d see a mugging and walk in, wearing a mask to hide my face. Once the mugger attacked me with his gun, knife, baseball bat or whatever and saw that I wasn’t hurt they’d freak out and run away.”
“Unfortunately so did a lot of the victims. Once my actions started making the local news my parents knew it was me and told me to stop before I exposed myself. So I decided that I’d have to wait until I could do it legitimately.”

Mettaliar had walked into the kitchen grasping his stomach. He hadn't eaten in 3 days, mostly by forgetting to eat. He saw the other people in the kitchen and sat down at the table. He leaned his head against the table and looked out blankly.

Nicki laughed as Michael explained the vigilante idea. "Oh gosh, that's funny. I mean, that's very brave and noble and such, but I just can't help but think of the people you scares off and what they must have felt like. And you're parents. 'Sorry Mikey, but you can't go out and stop crime today!' 'But Moooooom'" Nicki smiled. She wasn't making fun of Michael, she actually thought that the little story she had created was sweet. It sounded nice to have parents who knew about their child's power and was comfortable with it. Sure, her mom was getting there now, but her dad would never be okay with what she was. It sounded really nice to be in Michael's shoes.
She was just about to ask Michael something when another person joined them. He didn't speak, in fact, he just sat down and looked vacant.
"Um, hi there. Cookies will be ready in about fifteen minutes. Want some?" she asked

Michael couldn’t help but laugh as Nicki recounted his story. He smiled politely at the new guy who came in and sat down looking beat. “Hi, I’m Michael and this is Nicki, and we’ll be your chefs for today.” He said with a grin.
With the eggs looking as beaten as they were going to be Michael set them down and turned back to Nicki. “So what next?” he asked.

He turned his head and sat up. "Hey there. Thanks for the offer, cookies do sound good. The name's Mettaliar by the way." He put on a friendly smile and nodded his head greetingly.

"Hey there Mettaliar" Nicki smiled brightly, continuing to cream the ingrediants. "Cookies will come to pass soon. Why so glum lookin?" she asked.
Nicki turned to Michael quickly and handed him another bowl. "What I need you to do here is try to blend all the stuff in there into one giant mess okay?" she explained the idea of creaming ingrediants the same way every cookbook did.

“Blend into a giant mess,” Michael repeated, “Gotcha.” With that he set to work mixing the ingredients in the bowl. Looking up at the seemingly exhausted Mettaliar he asked, “So have you been climbing mountains or something? You look beat.”
He guessed the guy was another mutant, but decided to wait until he was looking a little better before he asked what his powers were.

"You won't believe me, but... I kinda forgot to eat the past 2 days. Finally now my body is telling me that I kinda have no food in me. I think just eating and drinking something will make me a little better." With that he got up and walked to the fridge and opened it up pulling out a soda. "Mountain Dew, a teenagers 1up mushroom." he said to himself kind of loud. He didn't care much, or think that the others would get it. He just shrugged his shoulders and opened the can.

Nicki laughed at the Marion reference, but put down her bowls and went to the fridge. She pulled out some milk and set it down before walking over to the cabinet and pulling out some cereal and a bowl. She filled it up, plopped spoon in it and walked over to Met, putting the bowl in front of him.
"Eat it. Don't sass or no cookies" she smiled, putting on her best 'mom' vibe. "Trust me, I'm damn near a doctor..." Nicki winked and went back over to the counter, taking the bowl from Michael and looking in.
"You got it perfectly Mikey. And your work is done here" she smiled as she took the dough and started placing it on the cooking sheets, double checking the oven a little and making sure it was still pre-heating.

Grinning at Nicki Michael stepped back and let her place the cookies on the tray. After quickly washing his hands he headed back to his stool and took a seat. “Not eaten for two days huh, well that’s just plain silly.”
Looking down at the cereal that Nicki had gotten for him Michael said, “You’d best do as our multi-talented chef come doctor says and eat up, even if for no other reason than you’ll get no cookies if you don’t.”
