The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Garrett stood at Kinko's while his plans were collated and prepared. It seemed he was behind a larger order, so he looked out the window at traffic. His journey was underway now. He had registered with the City as a non profit. MORA--Mutant Outreach Resource Alliance-- was now an embryo, ready to be nourished and nurtured until it could be born and make real changes in the City and perhaps, beyond.
It had come to him while looking over the various businesses that had been established in the past few years while in his office at the Mansion. Each provided its own unique service to the mutant community, but they remained disassociated. An umbrella organization that would become the link to each of these places to one another was needed and he was going to put it in place. A mutant could seek MORA in order to be informed of and referred to each in turn.
Of course, some might believe that there was an ulterior agenda living in the grotto beneath the sparkling waterfall. Of course there was, but it wasn't quite as maleficent as some might suspect. The organization served several purposes. First, it provided a real resource agency for new mutants in the City to find others like themselves and the services they needed. Second, it provided a magnificent cover operation for Garrett's RUPERT surveillance. Third, and perhaps most importantly, the donations and overhead could be a valid reason as to why Garrett was several tax brackets higher than he was months before. Claiming pilfered drug money didn't have a line on the tax forms, he imagined.
" Mr. Wills? Your order is up." Turning to the young lady at the counter, he thumbed through the glossy proposal before him, satisfied with the result. He had ten copies of it and he paid for the service and then took his booty to the car. Starting the engine of the black beast, he eased out into the street, making his way to the first destination. Going anywhere else would be blasphemy. The car rolled with purpose to the Iris Clinic.

Sebastian was having a hard time concentrating on the text book in his lap. Medical terminology swam across the page in square little schools that never really seemed to go anywhere. Supposedly these terms explained the process of lyonization, or x chromosome inactivation, in mammals. Not the X gene, but the x chromosome, mind you. Sebastian took of his reading spectacles and set them on the end table, then closed the book with a conviction to pick it up again later, once the meeting with Garrett had concluded. As technical as this medical information was, it might hold vital information he could use to help people when his own X gene acting alone could not. First, though, the meeting.
The table was set with tea service for three and the cupboards were stocked with alternative drinks if the neuromancer didn't find the hot beverage to his liking. All that remained incomplete was the company, which would arrive at any moment.
A knock at the door meant that the moment had finally arrived along with their former neighbor. Sebastian opened the door with a warm smile.
“Garrett, welcome. I miss seeing you around as often. Please come in, make yourself comfortable.”
Garrett stood before the door, briefcase in hand. His head turned down the hall to his former place of residence. He hoped it was being put to good use. The door opened and there stood his silver haired friend, as accomodating as ever. Stepping across the threshold, he looked around, finding tea prepared and three seats. he hoped that meant that Maya would be joining them. It would be nice to see her, as always, but it would also save him a trip by the Full Circle.
Giving the old man a short hug, he smiled at him. " Good to see you, Sebastian. Yes, I'm sorry I can't visit for pleasure. Perhaps I can have you and the fam over soon at my place. Still a few projects to be taken care of there." Noting spectacles and medical texts nearby, he placed his briefcase nearby and took a seat at the table. " How's medical school treating you? You will be an amazing doctor once you get through. Not like you have to hurry, right?" He winked and chuckled at the immortality rib.
Hearing Maya somewhere nearby, as quiet as her tender footfalls were, Garrett chose to let business wait until pleasantries were disposed of. " I changed my major at NYU to Criminal Justice. I think I might minor in Communications. Not entirely sure yet. Oh, I'm also the new Director of Public Relations at the Mansion." A business card was produced and passed to the immortal, having been produced a few days after his official post began at the Mansion. "I suppose I did such a good job at the Sanctuary that word of mouth became good advertising."
A backpack with legs flung the door open. "Look, Seb! I got one for school." It bounced around the table and stopped when it counted far too many legs under there. The backpack lowered an inch at a time to reveal first dark hair, a freckled forehead and then shining brown eyes. Eyes that narrowed at Garrett. "I'll be in my room." Eavesdropping the heck out of this conversation, no doubt. The 11 year old made quick work of the space between the kitchen and his room, backpack trailing behind.
Maya, laden with several grocery sacks and other miscellany was taking a bit more time to navigate through the door at the top of the stairs. "Oh. Tea. Bless you." She stopped to press her lips against Sebastian's temple and then waddled through to the kitchen. "Go ahead! I'm listening!" The sounds of plastic bags and cans sliding and hitting the floor meant that the bags were off her arms.
She popped back in a moment. "Did anyone need anything?" In her hand she had fresh biscuits to go with that tea. After fumbling with the package she shook a couple out on the plate there and then disappeared back into the kitchen to attempt to quietly put things away.

Sebastian shrugged at the textbooks on the table, “It's more difficult than I anticipated. Then again, it's been a long time since I've had to study, so perhaps it will simply take me awhile to get back into the rhythm of being a student.” Not to mention any private suspicions he had that his teachers, one in particular, was being especially hard on him. At times it seemed almost as though he was being punished for all these years he had been healing people willy-nilly without even knowing what it was he was doing.
As for not needing to hurry, that depended on the perspective a bit. Sure, he had the rest of his life to make an amazing doctor, however, there were people that needed him right now. There were only none years left, for example, before Maya was more ethereal than solid and who knew when the time would come that there would be no turning back for her.
“Congrats on the new path of study and the new job. I'm sure you'll be just what they needed. You have such talents for organization and effective advertisement that elude most of the rest of us.”
Sebastian's comments were cut short by the arrival home of Jude and Ghost with a new backpack and several bags of groceries in tow. The unicorn man complimented the walking backpack, “Very nice,” then stood upon Ghost's entrance and stepped in to help with the extra bags, but all he got was a kiss on the temple that said his wife already had this under control. Their adopted son retreated to his bedroom with his new school bag and the two men were once again left alone at the table, for the moment.
“So, you mentioned that you had some sort of business to discuss? What are you up to now?”
The picture of domestic bliss, indeed. Garrett watched Maya plant a wifely kiss on Sebastian and pleasantly had no negative reaction to it. All was as it was meant to be. Jude's happy bounce slowed and his bright eyes narrowed in Garrett's direction. As much as Garrett wanted to return the gesture, he had to remember that currently Jude was a little human boy and while he might believe he knew what was what, he didn't. So he just turned a glance at the little man who sauntered off to his room.
Listening to Sebastian's comments about his studies, Garrett couldn't help but chuckle as he helped himself to a cup of tea. " Come on now, old man. There's no need to be modest. We are but babes in your midst." he watched him be courteous and try to help his wife and attend to familial matters. It was nice in a mutant sort of Norman Rockwell way. beaming with pride and confidence at Sebastian's words of praise, he didn't feel the need to retort. he just had never heard his talents put that way before.
“So, you mentioned that you had some sort of business to discuss? What are you up to now?”
Of course, business straight away. Garrett preferred it that way. Picking up his briefcase and opening it on his lap, he pulled one of the recently crafted glossy portfolios out and placed it on the table facing Sebastian. He spoke as he closed the briefcase smartly and returned it to his side, enjoying the tea during breaks." Well, I've started a non profit up to benefit mutants and their loved ones. As you can see, it is called MORA, or Mutant Outreach Resource Alliance. basically, it is an umbrella organization that will refer mutants to various facilities and places in the City where they can receive the extra attention they might need that they could not otherwise receive from the mainstream. I plan on making several visits to area businesses that might be of use to those in need and the Iris Clinic was first in my mind. So, have a look and see what you think. Also, since she is already here, I wanted to see if Maya was interested in involving the Full Circle. If nothing else, it is free advertising for the Clinic, which I know firsthand you could use." It would be nice to see mutants in the waiting room rather than dust bunnies.
From the kitchen, "Do you have your 501c?" from the muffled sound of it, Maya's head was somewhere inside the refrigerator. It sounded like the most wonderful idea if he could pull it off. After a particularly nasty spill of jam was all wiped up and the frozen and frige needing groceries were put away Maya popped around the wall to sort of hover and join the conversation.
"I don't know as much as I should about business yet, but I know that will help you get donations and sound legitimate." It had something to do with taxes. Maybe a tax write off for donators or that made his MORA tax exempt? Something like that. Zephyr had explained it to her at least once already and yet somehow it didn't all stick in her head.
And if it was a question of access to the Full Circle's resources "Consider me already signed up. Let me know what you need where and when and it's done." This was Garrett after all, friend and confidant. She would always go the extra mile for him. Only after pouring herself a proper cup of tea did Maya take a seat beside Sebastian.
