The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kids seemed to spark a lot of thought. He sat quietly for a time, his eyes flicking around as if he was jumping from thought to thought and those thoughts were spelled out in front of him on a page. Eventually he came back to the same plane of reality that Maya inhabited.
"Pin-pon! You're right. He's adopted. Even better, he's just 11. Skipped three grades for better or for worse." It was hard to tell if that would be good for him socially, but they were letting him try it out. If it would work anywhere, it would work at the Mansion where there were large spans of ages in a single class room. Plus Calley and Katrina were in that year and they would take care of him.
"I age quite normally even if some others in my household do not." Sebastian, master of age and unicorn, was her husband after all.
Micah smiled. “It sounds like you have a very interesting family. I hope I have a chance to run into your son at the mansion. He sounds like quite the trooper.”
Micah inhaled and swallowed his last big gulp of his drink. “You know, there’s something so satisfying about that last sip of coffee. Always leaves you wishing you had more, and it always seems to taste the better than the other sips. Unless of course, the coffee was nasty and you just poured half of it down the sink. Not that I’m saying your coffee was nasty! It was wonderful. Thank you again.”
Glancing at his watch, Micah rose from his seat, the legs of the chair scraping softly against the floor. “Well, it was nice meeting you Maya. I hope we have another chance to spend time together.” He extended his hand. “Perhaps we’ll see each other again at the studio? I would really like that.”
Arthur stood across the street from the very simple looking shop lined with plate glass windows, and watched as a few people came and went. He had assumed the flyer was perhaps a joke, but was shocked to see that some of them had obviously visible mutations but walked around as if they were regular members of society. "Amazing. Absolutely amazing." Arthur hid behind a large white van, pulled out his small video camera and began recording. As he watched them he became incredibly excited and mentally noted he was experiencing the same physical reaction he had had when he first encountered a fellow mutant, and earlier today when he entered the library and started fantasizing about meeting mutants. "Very peculiar." he thought to himself. One mutant in particular caught his eye. She was saying goodbye to a group of people leaving the studio. "Farewell my loves! Remember that you are all beautiful, and are always welcome and wanted back." It was then Arthur realized she was the woman from the flyer he had found earlier. He had assumed it was an artistic image created for advertising, but he now saw that her beauty was real. It was as if the light sparkled around her and no one else. She was so full of life and energy. "She must be like me." he thought. "They all must." It was with this thought Arthur began to feel happy, but as soon as the joy came another feeling came...that sinister pull that gripped his heart.
Arthur ignored the feeling and began to quietly speak aloud for the camera to document his current thoughts "How is she so beautiful? How are they all so beautiful? So amazing. Such amazing beings. Mutation is random, but something about mutants seems so...divine. So symmetrical. So planned. It goes against all of the traditional data on biological mutation."
Arthur continued speaking. He was holding the camera in his right hand, and didn't notice that his left hand was slowly going into his left pocket. "How is such a thing possible? How am I possible? We exist in direct contradiction to the laws of evolution, but we are also the next stage of evolution. Each of us an island unto themselves. How does it work? I must know...I have...to know..." *Click* Arthur was startled by the sound of the knife popping open in his left hand. He looked at the knife, and immediately retracted the blade and put it back into his pocket. He then saw that the woman across the street was squinting in his direction. When she saw him she warmly smiled and waved hello.
Arthur politely waved back, but quickly turned around and began to walk back to his hotel room. As he walked he shivered slightly. "What is happening to me?" he asked. When he was quite a distance away from the Studio Arthur vowed to never return until he figured out what exactly had transpired. He would have to do his research elsewhere.
