Katrina had a very serious nature, at least when it came to this topic, but Kai enjoyed her company. He hoped that she hadn't taken his mock-seriousness too much to heart. She would be really easy to scare at Halloween, I bet...
“The x-what? Is it like a club?” He kind of hoped that it was like one of those membership grocery club things. That would be convenient for his food habits. “I really haven't even gotten a good tour of the place, to be honest. I mostly just poked around and found my own way to the kitchen and stuff.” He shrugged. He wasn't surprised that there were aspects of the mansion that he hadn't discovered or explored yet. Ya learn something new every day...

Katrina smiled, now that they were onto a less serious topic, it was easier to be... well, at ease.
“The X-kids are basically a younger version of the X-men, except, instead of fighting bad guys or rushing off to the scene of natural disasters, we help out in smaller ways. We have had missions to do things to help around the city, like cleaning up graffiti at the zoo and then getting free passes to go there. You know, community service kinds of things. The goal is to get people to realize that mutants aren't just violent freaks, but are also citizens of the city that help take care of it, not just smash it up.”
She shrugged, then added, “It's kind of fun, too, to hang out with the people who are in it.”
“If you want an official tour...” Katrina tilted her head, hearing something. It was a voice calling from the kitchen door. Her mother.
The little illusionist sighed. “It sounds like I'm supposed to go help make dinner. You could come help if you want, but I'd totally understand if you'd rather stay out here.” She certainly would have preferred to stay outside.
She started to swing herself down off the tree limb, but her hand slipped. She caught herself before she fell all the way out of the tree, but she did it with her stomach on the next lowest branch. “Oof.”
“Mmm. I'm okay. Don't worry about me. I'm fine.” She would have waved a hand to show how fine she was, if she'd had a had free to wave. She would have to go and make a completely ungraceful exit.
