The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Rachel was prowling the grounds outside the Mansion. Crawling around on all fours, still wearing her raggedy clothes (now cleaned by the mysterious inventions that are the washing machine and dryer), the curious 'coon girl had her black little nose to the ground. It was daytime, and therefore wore her aviator goggles. Her eyesight was always poor at long range, but now it was even worse. Rachel had to rely mainly on what she smelled, what she hear, and especially what she felt with her hand paws.
And she both smelled and heard something very interesting. sniffsniff
"Heeeeeeey!" Rachel whined. Someone had taken her territory that was the batch of trees growing in the far corner of the massive lawn. Sure, people could visit. But someone had stolen it! Her markings were violated by...
sniffsniff
A doggy! It had peed all over her turf!
Rachel let out an angry chitter (see #7) and began to track this thieving puppy!
Chikachikachikachikachikachikachikachika
Raising her red bandanna up from her neck to around her mouth, Rachel looked like a bandit from the Wild West. That is, if that bandit looked like a raccoon with the body of a 17-year-old girl. With raccoon paws. And raccoon feet. Anyway, she looked like a bandit! BARK! BARK!
Rachel was basically colorblind, but not only could she see the color green, her raccoon eyes were extra-good at seeing green! Unfortunately, grass is also green. Which made seeing the green shirt worn by the girl that was walked the Dastardly Dog very difficult. Very difficult as in Rachel didn't notice it at all as she leaped out from the bush and began to bark at the Dastardly Dog, chasing after it on all fours.
Maya took Angua on her usual walk. She was getting used to being a pet owner; it came with quite a few responsibilities and she still haden't 'established herself as the alpha' as Emerald advised. She had already noticed that it was easier to deal with Angua on Gawain days. Maybe it was the voice.
Maya voice was not much help at all.
"Angua!" she called out as she walked after the pup across the Mansion grounds. She had let her off the leash; inside the walls it was safe to let the hyper little creature run free.
Run away free, that is. Maya was in for an afternoon chase.
"Angua!" she called again. The puppy was furiusly barking something... ... and something was barking back?
Maya stopped a few steps behind the puppy, and stared at the girl who brust out from among the bushes. She looked marginally human, part bandit, part cartoon character... and possibly mutant.
What. The. Heck.
"Um... hello?" Maya greeted her cautiously, inching over to get a good angle before she could capture the puppy "Don't worry she's not gonna hurt you."
Angua decided to prove Maya wrong, and pounced onto the girl, aiming for the red bandana with a playful growl.
Rachel, who was previously scampering forward at full speed, suddenly threw on the brakes, her paws slipping as she tried to run backwards.
"EEERK!"
She totally was expecting to chase the puppy, not for it to tackle her back. She let out a loud squeak as the dog landed on her and began to tug at the bandanna.
"STOPITSTOPITSTOPIT!" Rachel chittered and flailed, rolled, and skittered around the ground. With playful barkings, the puppy managed to pull of her bandanna and began to run away.
"Give it back! Mine! MINE!" Rachel ran after the dog on two legs this time, her hand paws making grabby-grabs at the puppy as she ran. The puppy ran between Maya's legs, and Rachel looked up just as she didn't have time to stop.
She hadn't seen Maya, much to distracted to both see her or hear her. SLAM
Rachel ran straight into the girl, tumbling with her head over heels over tail.
"Huh?" Maya stared at the girl. She was acting like a critter or something, scampering about and making weird noises as she was attacked by the puppy.
All right, so sometimes Maya made weird noises too, especially when Angua pulled one of her infamous out-of-the-blue attacks on her.
Nobody expects the World's Most Adorable Hellhound.
"Whatcha... OW!"
There. Weird noises.
Air was knocked out from Maya's lungs as the girl ran right into her, and then the both rolled, excited puppy yapping and bouncing around them. Maya ended up on top, more than a little bit surprised at the development, staring down into a curious little face.
Angua shook the red bandana around with a determined growl.
"Whoa whoa whoa!" Maya scampered to her feet once the - raccoon?... - girl wiggled free and looked like she was about to attack her dog again "Hey!"
She got between them just in time; one hand lifted Angua by the scruff - that task seemed to be getting more difficult every day - the other grabbed the bandana. So far, so good.
Angua was not ready to let go of her newest chewtoy though. Maya pulled, and the puppy took it as an invitation to play; she growled, and shook her head, shaking the red cloth furiously.
Maya sighed and plopped down onto the grass, still holding the puppy.
"I'm sorry" she muttered, glancing up at the girl "This might take a minute. Just... don' attack her, okay?..."
Rachel let out a hiss and arched her back, glaring through her goggles at the puppy and its owner. Suddenly, the raccoon girl had a brilliant idea!
rummagerummagerummage
Shifting through all her pouches, Rachel hastily searching for the solution to the current problem.
"Got it!" Rachel cried out as she triumphantly held up a doggie treat. She'd been saving it for a snack later on, but she decided her bandanna was worth more to her then the biscuit. Holding it out to the puppy, Rachel chittered, tilted her head, and asked the dog,
Both dog and mirrorwalker looked up in surprise as the treat was presented. Angua prompty spat out the bandada, and Maya quickly made sure it was out of reach before she let the pup down onto her lap and scratched at her ears. For a moment she eyes the treat with suspicion. Angua was faster. She ate it.
"Yeah, that works too." Maya nodded with a grin "All right, problem solved. I'm sorry, your bandana might need to be washed."
Picking up the cloth she examined it.
"Scratch that, id definitely needs to be washed." she turned back to the girl "So. My name is Maya. And you are...?"
Rachel didn't care about the doggy spit. She'd had much worse. Being a raccoon girl growing up in the streets of New York does that. Rachel simply wiped it on the grass and quickly tied it around her neck with a purr. She loved her bandanna.
"Oh? I'm Rachel! Rachel Ramsey the Radical Raccoooooon!" Rachel took a pose, nose and tail twitching in unison, hand paws on hips and looking up into the sky randomly. However, this randomness happened to have her look directly into the sun.
"EEERK!" Quickly, she covered her goggled eyes with her hands, stumbled back, and fell over.
Rachel Ramsey, the Radical Racoon. Racooooon, actually.
Maya giggled as the girl sturck a pose and then fell over. Maya didn't usually giggle, per se, and it was kind of rude to do so too, but she couldn't help it. Not really.
"Oookay" she grinned, looking at the radical raccoon "Nice to meet you, Rachel."
It was not the most useful mutation she'd ever seen, but it was definitely one of the funniest. Together with the codename and the personality.
"Soo... um" she waited till the racoon pulled herself together "Ya're a new student here or something?"
Angua, on the other hand, saw that her newly found playmate was down, and took the opportunity to pounce on top of her for an impromtu wresting match.
Rachel squeaked and wrestled with the puppy, but then things got a bit rough for her. The Dastardly Dog "playfully" bit Rachel's fluffy 'coon tail.
Rachel screamed.
"OOOOOOWWWWW!" Rachel leaped up and ran around in circles, clutching her wounded tail. Since there were no trees around, the raccoon girl simply bolted over to the Mansion and climbed up the nearest wall, hissing down from the second story ledge.

It was a beautiful day outside. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and the overall mood of the animals was a very positive one. A soft breeze blew by and ran its fingers through her hair and flared her skirt a bit. Above her, on the other end of a coil of cord she had rigged into a leash, Nico flew about and strutted his stuff as the self-declared master of the sky. The whole atmosphere was very refreshing.
Due to that reason, Liz had decided to lower the barriers in her mind for awhile. So far, there had been no major swells in the general emotional pool of the animals in the area so she felt safe from major external influence. It felt so nice to soak up the calmness and basic happiness that filled the minds of so many creatures. It kind of reminded her of sitting in a hot bath after a long day.
Elizabeth was content to wander around the mansion by herself, watching Nico do his thing. She was completely safe there and she had nothing better to do. It was a rare and wonderful feeling. Because she was wandering around with no particular goal or direction in mind, she soon became dazed out of her thoughts by a scream. Simultaneously fearing the worst yet filled with curiosity, Liz made her way to the sound, slightly dragging Nico through the air with her.
The sight she came upon made her stop with conflicting emotions. A raccoon, no, a girl, a raccoon-girl-mutant-person was sitting on a ledge on the second story. That was reasonable to Elizabeth’s mind. Liz trailed her gaze in the direction the hybrid was hissing and yelling at. A puppy stood there, all happy and everything and undoubtedly the source of increased happiness and joy that had been bubbling up in her for the past few moments. Another girl stood by the puppy. She didn’t recognize any of the three there.
“Is everything okay?” She ventured forth, wondering why she heard a scream and why the raccoon-girl was being particularly angry at the playful little dog. She flicked her gaze from the girl on the ground to the girl on the ledge and then down to the puppy. What was going on?
Maya hissed and frowned, a little bit embarrassed about not bin able to keep her dog in check, but she was at the smae time amazed too by the velocity the raccoon girl scampered up the wall. Impressive.
"I'm sorry" she called out, pulling out the leash and attaching it to Angua's collar, who, feeling restrained, started running circles around Maya "She doesn't... well, actually, yeah she usually does this."
>>“Is everything okay?”
Maya turned to look at the newcomer. She didn't look familiar. New students were popping up today left and right. Weird morning. "Yeah, everythin's fine." she nodded with a smirk, then twirled around a few times to undo the results of Angua's leash-wrapping activity "Puppy chased a raccoon up the wall." she grinned, nodding towards Rachel "Who are you?"
Chittering, she zoomed down the wall from her hiding ledge and scampered over to Elizabeth, sniffing around and repeating almost exactly what Maya asked Elizabeth, seeming to just ignore the other girl's inquiry.
"Hrmmmm, I don't know you." sniffsniffsniff "You smell friendly though. Who are you?"

The girl with a dog seemed to be a nice person, the way she laughed and smirked and made everything she said very lighthearted. That was the kind of person Liz didn’t mind being around and could easily make friends with. And she had a dog too, so that was a plus. Elizabeth was about to respond to her query when the raccoon, er, raccoon-girl streaked down from her vantage point and proceeded to…sniff her? Well that was weird.
Liz pulled her skirt tight against her leg and raised her emotional barriers, just in case. The mutant that was…sniffing her, was weirding her out a bit. She took a couple steps to the side before answering the question posed by both girls. “I’m Elizabeth. I’m a new student here. And, um, thanks,” she said, posing the last part to the hybrid mutant, “I…uh, use a good shampoo?” Her voice trailed off a bit and confusion was apparent on her face. I smell friendly. It’s not every day you hear that. But that’s a good thing, I think.
Nico picked that moment to drop out of the sky and land on her shoulder, dazzling everyone with the full glory of a prime specimen of the African Grey parrot variety. “Chocolate!” he squawked, introducing himself. “And this is Nico,” Liz said to the other mutants. “And who might you two be?” So far it was turning out to be a rather useful walk. She was already meeting new people. She rolled up most of the slack, transparent cord, not wanting it to tangle everything up, and looped it around her wrist, where it was tied at.
“And who’s this?” Liz said as a larger smile crossed her face. She squatted so she was more eye-level to the puppy. What could she say? She liked animals.
