The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"Well, since you are taking your dog for a walk anyway, you can walk me outside. Live up to that Knightly every other day name."
Maya grinned back at her.
"My pleasure, oh Fair Damsel of the Silken Threads. Although I highly doubt that anyone would try to harm you while you are wielding the legendary Boltcutter of Doom."
Angua drummed on the bed with her tail while Maya put the leash on her. She would take it off once they were outside, but she didn't feel like chasing the puppy up and down the corridors. Maya stuffed the spider body into her pocket.
>>"Oh, and don't worry about trouble. I tend to keep my nose out of most things, Cookie sales girl aside."
"I wouldn't dare to think otherwise." Maya chuckled "What I meant was until I get into trouble again. Clearly."
Oh fair damsel... Heh. Another thing she had never been called before. Letting her eyes slip shut momentarily, she waltzed out into the hall. "Your right. One quick snip to the jugular and anyone will go down quickly." She demonstrated with a quick lunge of the cutters, a snap of the blades, then settled them across her shoulders again.
"I wouldn't dare to think otherwise. What I meant was until I get into trouble again. Clearly."
Megan glanced back once she was out in the hallway, one eye closed lazily, the other mightily entertained. "And who says I'd come back, now that we're even?" She questioned. S
he turned her attention back momentarily to watch where she was going, to prevent herself from falling and breaking her leg... no need for her to contradict herself so soon in the game.
Angua jumped when the boltcutter clicked, and ran a circle around Maya's legs, succesfully wrapping her up in the leash. The mirrorwalker spun around to untangle herself, and followed her guest.
>>"And who says I'd come back, now that we're even?"
"Ya didn' come here for me in the first place" Maya smirked as they walked outside and she took the leash off Angua, throwing the half-spider for her away as far as she could. The pup ran after it barking happily.
"And sooner or later ya'll get bored, and then you'll remember there's a nice school in town full of troubled mutant kids, and you won't be able to resist the temptation to have some fun."
Maya folded her arms and grinned at Charlotte.
"Besides, when I get into trouble again, you can always come back just to laugh and point."
Her eyes narrowed slightly, and she pouted at Maya. "You take me for such a cold hearted soul." With a sniffle, she turned her chin away and snubbed her nose into the air. After a brief pause, and the cracking open of one eye to peek at the girl, Megan dropped the act and shrugged.
"Pointing and laughing is fun I suppose..." She propped up a hand under her chin, and rolled her eyes skyward. "Then again, it might be more fun to jump in waist deep and muck about in your pain and suffering." Blinking, she dropped her eyes to the pup as it circled a bush with its toy clamped between its teeth, and wrinkled her nose.
Turning, she threw a hand in the air. "See you, Mirror Walker." And exited the stage via squealing tires, a good amount of smoke, and more than one horn blaring in the distance....
Maya smirked, watching her ride away on the scooter from hell. She had no doubt she would see Charlotte again, and she knew it would be soon. One trickster knows another, and no matter how serious she seemed when she said she didn't like trouble, it was obvious that she lived and breathed it. It was only a matter of time that she woud get bored, and then she would be back.
Maya shook her head, and clicked her tongue to the puppy, who couldn't have cared less, and kept hunting imaginary beings among the bushes with loud barking. The mirrorwalker rolled her eyes and sat down on a bench, rubbing her wrists. Sam would find out about her arrest soon. The X's worked with the police. And then all hell would break loose.
Angua showed up with a shoe in her mouth. Maya sighed.
