The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Worms shrugged, trying to hide the fact that he -had- been partially freaking out.
"Aye aye Captain, First Mate Lenna will do just fine." Worms replied, giving them a quick two fingered salute. He wanted to portray an air of slight mockery, but still show he actually understood. Just because you didn't exactly like someone doesn't mean their right and don't deserve loyalty. Lori seemed like she deserved it indeed. Besides, her powers didn't cope to well with Worms, so that was a deciding factor as well.
"So, what's the job Captain? Kidnapping? Robbery? Assassination? Random Chaos? Charades?" Worms grinned. He had experience in all the fields he mentioned (even charades), so he was ready for just about anything.
>> "Are you not getting this whole get up? The smile and slime and talking to worms in his head thing... I dunno. Maybe the whole package is just too match-y match-y. Maybe you're right."
Lenna laughed, arching an eyebrow. "Right."
But on a more serious note, what was the mission again? She smiled, and let Lori fill the slimy new guy in... with vagueness. Could she vague that up for her?
"Oh yeah," Lenna nodded knowingly. "With the people? Doing the thing?" Meld hadn't rubbed off on her. No, adapteds rubbing Meld would have been a painful process for the both of them. Because after Lenna was done, Meld would probably stab her, friendliness between them, or not. "I gotcha." The project. It was super-important. Super.
Lori explained it all so much clearer to Worms after the lovely bit of evasion they'd done.
And second-in-command? She hadn't been expecting to rise up to that rank so quickly. Nice. Until she could find a suitable replacement, though. Ah well. At least she'd gained Lori's trust enough for that level, even if it'd been temporary.
"A pick up, actually. I have an awful lot of dry cleaning." Lori looked at her nails. He was just trying so very hard. That made her want to squish him all the more... except that she should be fostering hope and love and all that crap so she could keep her recruits.
Blah.
"We're launching a designer drug and before it hits the streets we need a few things. A few things they keep under lock and key, you know? So it really is a pick up. It's just likely to be one surrounded by intelligence, subterfuge and violence. It's not something I can send just anyone to fetch." The leader glanced up to meet Worm's eyes. She trusted him in this because if he failed her, they both knew that his chances of thriving in the Order were slim. Oh, he could stay at the Sanctuary, but Lori played her cards close to the chest. Very few, if any, ever saw her whole hand.
"Intelligence, subterfuge and violence. Three of my favorite things." Worms grinned. A new drug huh? He'd heard Lori Faust was CEO of some big pharmaceutical company, so that made sense. Drugs were a big market for the Ukrainian Mafia, so he knew they could make big bucks. He also knew that both legal drugs and drugs with legal ties (such as a link to a "legitimate" pharmaceutical company) made more money on average then illegal drugs. This sounded very promising indeed.
Worms nodded to Lenna. "You lead Miss Lenna, and me and my friends will follow."
