The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Like a punch in the back of the head. (Juka, Kyle)
In the brief moment he paused, nearly a third of the way through his stack of pancakes, Andrew noticed Juka seemed to be eating very little. Did he not need to eat as well as not sleeping? Was the guy immortal or something? Maybe he just didn't have the same sugar cravings as Andrew did after significant use of his powers.
>>"Its kind of visual goth rock and we have our next show in a couple weeks. Hopefully we'll be going on tour nationally soon."
Visual goth rock? Andrew had no idea what that meant but it sounded interesting, especially now he was becoming more and more alert thanks to the food he'd eaten counteracting the fatigue his powers had caused. With the power-induced hunger slowly receding Andrew started to slow down as he ate, taking the time to enjoy his pancakes.
>>"Does anyone want anything else?"
"I'm good thanks."
Andrew took a long sip from his glass of water, thinking about a question he had. It could be a contentious issue, or just something relatively mundane, but it was a wierd topic and Andrew wasn't very sure about it.
"So, Juka, why'd you decide to do the superhero thing?"
"So, what is it that you do exactly, what do your floating bubbles do?"
Now that was an interesting and complicated question. Not that it had always been complicated, but it certainly was now. "Its kind of a floating bubble of time control." Ok, so maybe when put like that it wasn't all that complicated after all. Time control did pretty much sum up what his bubble did, after well. Well, mostly anyway.
"Does anyone want anything else?"
"I'm good darling, you've been lovely," Juka assured their waiter. His sampling of all the goods had been most satisfying indeed and he vowed to have pancakes more often in the future.
"So, Juka, why'd you decide to do the superhero thing?"
"Because people need my help," Juka answered in a serious tone. This was something he had thought about a great deal and was one of the few things in life that he took as a truly important responsibility. "I've been given a gift and it wouldn't be right to waste that gift. My performing is one way to help people and my nightly patrols is the other."
>>"Its kind of a floating bubble of time control."
Woah. Floating bubble of time control. Kyle figuired that ment that he could control time within the bubble but even with that limitation.... Time control! "Wow. Just... Wow. That sounds incredibly useful." Any degree of time control would be awesome, and Juka's was no exception.
>>"So, Juka, why'd you decide to do the superhero thing?" Asked Andrew. Kyle raised an eyebrow in questioning as well, he was interested to know too.
>>"Because people need my help," Kyle was unprepared for the serious tone Juka used, just as he was uprepared for the feelings Juka's words stirred within him. As Juka spoke of being given a gift and his determination to use it to help people Kyle found himself nodding. He remembered all too well how bad people could be, and how a mutation could allow a single mutant to save countless lives. Kyle finished off his pancakes in silence, deep in thought.
Time control struck Andrew as being incredibly cool, and incredibly useful, the idea of going back a few seconds and not saying something stupid was very appealing. But he couldn't think how Juka used time control to levitate things. Did he drop those anvils out of a plane at some point and then just revert them to when they were dropping? Did he reverse himself to a point when he had jumped in the air in order to float. It seemed kind of weird, but the entire night had been fairly odd.
>>"Because people need my help,"
Juka seemed to have unveiled a knack for saying things that struck Andrew, he'd only ever really used his own powers in self defence or out of curiosity... or to get a job with fairly good pay. He'd never gone out of his way to help someone with his powers, but he'd also never been in a situation so far where he had the chance. Andrew noticed Kyle nodding to Juka's words, Kyle seemed to understand when Andrew didn't. He went back to his pancakes, finishing them off and enjoying the the filling sugariness of the oversized stack.
"That was good, just what I needed."
Andrew picked up his glass and drank the remaining half in a single long gulp.
Juka saw the look of confusion on Andrew's face and realized he probably hadn't explained his power very well at all. While he viewed it as a type of time control, he also knew that wasn't precisely accurate, he just wasn't really sure how else to label it. "Its not exactly like time control." He struggled for words of explanation. "I can't go back or forward in time or anything. But I can effect the cycles of things in my bubbles." Ya, that sounded about right. Cycles. "Like, make someone not hungry anymore, or not tired or make someone's hair grow faster. I even made a flower grow once." That had been fun. He tried to gauge the expressions of the other two to figure out if he was making any sense at all.
Juka noticed Kyle nodding in agreement at his passion filled words and nodded in satisfaction. Even if it wasn't his goal to get others to follow his path, it was satisfying to see that someone was at least considering it. "If you ever want to go on patrol, you just have to ask."
Seeing everyone finishing their meals, Juka realized it was probably about time to start heading back to his apartment. After all, he had hungry kitties to feed. "I insist on paying for the both of you, you simply don't have a say in the matter." If either of them decided to challenge him on that point, they'd find out just how stubborn he could be.
As Juka explained the form of time control he had Kyle gave a small grin as he realised how the other man evaded sleep. He made his body simply, not get tired. The idea that he could control hunger as well would certainly save on food costs, though it made Kyle wonder why Juka had ordered anything if he didn't need to eat. Maybe he just liked the taste. "That's cool. You stop your sleep cycle, I don't fall asleep cos my body generates too much energy to enter the land of nod."
>>"I insist on paying for the both of you, you simply don't have a say in the matter."
"Uh, ok then. If you're sure." Kyle thought it was a bit odd that Juka was so determined to pay for everyone considering he'd only just met the others but it was probably the same kindness that made him go out and save people every night. Kyle stood from his seat and started to move towards the doors. "Well, it was nice meeting you Juka and I'll see you back at the mansion, I'd better head back soon to do my job. It was good to see you again Andrew, oh!" Kyle pulled out his phone and his fingers skimmed over the keyboard. "Could I get your number? Then we could meet up again sometime without relying on chance." Kyle figured he could get Juka's number when they were back at the mansion, though he'd certainly be fine getting it as well.
>>"Like, make someone not hungry anymore, or not tired or make someone's hair grow faster. I even made a flower grow once."
"Okay, I kind of get it, sounds pretty powerful."
Andrew spent a few moments thinking Juka's powers through, in theory, if using his powers correctly he could do incredible good... or damage. It was obviously a good thing the guy was a superhero.
>>"I insist on paying for the both of you, you simply don't have a say in the matter."
"Are you sure? You two came to my aid, if anything I should pay for the two of you."
On the one hand Andrew felt indebted to Juka and Kyle, on the other hand he was a student and he was always careful with the money he had. It was a strange conflict, perfect for a strange week. Andrew stood and moved his hand towards his jacket pocket, smiling in a friendly way through his pancake-softened fatigue.
"If you insist of paying for the food, at least let me leave the tip."
>>"It was good to see you again Andrew, oh! Could I get your number? Then we could meet up again sometime without relying on chance."
"Sure thing..."
He pulled out his own phone and checked his contacts for himself, he could never remember his own number. He spun his phone over to Kyle with his number highlighted. He thought about Juka's superheroics, the idea stuck with Andrew, it appealed to him.
"If I ever take up the superhero thing, I'll find a way to get in touch with you Juka, how does a potential team-up sound?"
"A pleasure meeting you both," Juka replied with a curtsy to the both of them, first one and then the other. "I will be seeing you at the Mansion, my dear Kyle, and I'm certain we can come up with some way to stave off the eternal boredom." He never thought he'd be quite so happy at the prospect of finding someone to spend his nights with.
"And I can most certainly give you my number, Andrew," Juka agreed, scribbling his number down on a piece of paper and handing it over. "If you ever decide you want a team up, I'm certain we can come up with something." Working with Koga had been fun, so why not working with others? "Just as long as you don't like to kill people." The last was more of an after thought, as he remembered how Abyss dealt with the bad guys. Killing was completely out for Juka.
Juka walked up to the front and paid for the three of them, agreeing to let Andrew cover the tip. Money simply wasn't a concern for him, his parents gave him all he needed, after all. Once paid he waved at the other two and, numbers exchanged and good byes said, prepared to float off into the night and retrieve his anvils before heading back to his apartment.
'Well,' Kyle thought as he watched Andrew walk and Juka float away, 'This was certainly not what I expected when I decided to eat out.' Indeed, who would expect eating out to get you involved in an attempted crime? And who would further imagine such an occurance to cause you to meet someone you'd previously ran into once before? Or a real life super hero who lives at the same place you do?
Kyle said his goodbyes as the three parted ways and headed back to the mansion. Sure he got paid to stand around, but he had to stand around where they wanted him too. He wondered if he'd be jinxing himself by hoping the rest of the night wasn't as eventfull as his trip to quell his hunger.
