The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Oh, god, I'm so sorry.
Ilari didn't think he was bleeding that much, but he supposed he didn't know the true extent of his injuries. Either way, he had to actually go buy a black sweatshirt to hide the blood that had soaked through his first one, which he ditched in a dumpster somewhere.
Even though it was summertime, Ilari was starting to shiver as he approached the mansion. He couldn't remember how he got there, anymore. He remembered a napkin, and police, and a boy... Gawain... yeah. Twyla's boyfriend. Gave him an address.
I'm sorry.
I'm so sorry.
I messed up so bad.
Police sirens. He'd gotten arrested, but he let Ilari escape. And then he was walking. And then he had a new shirt. And then he was standing in front of a building. Was this shock? Was he going into shock? What was he doing? He was finding Emerald. So sorry so sorry so sorry How was he going to do that?
Oh, look, a doorbell.
He reached out with a shaky hand - that had some of his blood running down it. Maybe if he hadn't slid his back down that mirror after being slammed into it, he would be doing far better. He left a little smear of that red substance when he pressed the button and pulled his hand away. Quickly, he withdrew his hand and wrapped his arms around his chest.
Cold. It was cold. What day was it? What month was it? Winter? Summer? Those weren't months... He couldn't have lost that much blood. Ilari shook his head to try and clear it. It kind of helped. He didn't know it, but he had been walking long enough that he'd lost enough blood that he was starting to go into shock. He'd had adrenaline on his side for a while, but that was quickly petering out.
Whoever opened the door was in for quite the sight. Ilari looked disheveled and tired, as he had just been in a fight. More notably, however, his skin was paler than usual, he was shivering, and yet also sweating. His pupils were starting to dilate. Because he was no longer moving with determination, the shock was setting in faster.
It was a normal day for Emerald Lupin, or at least as normal as it could have been since she had gotten back from her parents house. She had been visiting them more since the lost of her powers and had not been spending as much time at the mansion. In short, she wasn't spending as much time outside of the mansion knowing that if she wandered the seedier parts of New York city she would likely run into someone she really didn't want to run into.
Ilari.
That boy damaged her considerably when he let her leave the house the day after the repair of his ribs. Though the situation was awkward, the least he could have done was to call, or try to find her, she even stayed downtown for a bit, hoping to talk to him, but nothing seemed to work. This was when she went to her parents after a few weeks of waiting for him to talk to her again and that was when she was attacked by Bloodfang, loosing her water powers forever. Nightmares of the incident were more prevalent now and Emerald was hesitant about being touched by any member of the male gender.
At that very moment, the wolf girl was sitting on the couch, reading a biography on Kelly Slater, the surfer. Once ring of the doorbell came, Emerald waited for a second to see if she could hear the normal welcoming committee come down to greet the new student. After a few seconds, she sighed, getting up to go get the door, once she opened the door her eyes widened. It was Ilari, the surprise on her face was evident but then that surprise turned into panic when she caught whiff on the blood on the mans body. She paled at the sight at his body and the state it was in, it looked to her that he was going into shock
"Ilari! You idiot! What did they do to- Ah hell what am I doing, come on big guy." Emerald frantically ordered, her tail drooping between her legs. She helped her friend inside and allowed him to lean on her as she brought him into the infirmary. Several thoughts went through her mind as she did so What happened to him? Who did this? Who am I gonna have to kill for hurting him, damn it no one is allowed to hurt him but me! He looks so bad, come on Ilari, hold on! Emerald thought.
The absolute panic and worry on her face must have been a clue for the Kindly Doc Prof and his assistants for they took the Light Manipulator from the wolf girls protective grasp placing him on a stretcher. Emerald attempted to follow them to curtained off area where doc treated patients with more serious injuries, but was Stopped by Doc, which made the girl let out a growl.
"Lemme through Doc," Emerald growled, tail starting to lash back and forth.
"Miss Lupin, if you want your friend to be perfectly fine leave me to do my job. Now I want you to wait in that chair and as soon as we are done you can be with him." Doc told the werewolf, who obediently followed his orders, sitting on the chair he pointed to and stared at the curtained off area, trying her best to listen in on the muttering. When she couldn't hear hardly anything from the hushed tones, she sighed in frustration

They left Emerald alone so that they could do their work. The medical staff tended to the man they didn't know with efficiency and without asking questions.
It was an hour or so before Doc Prof went to find Emerald. He seemed to be content, though he was leveling the wolf girl with a very stern gaze.
"He is going to be alright, Miss Lupin," he explained, voice gentle. He could see how concerned Emerald was for this mystery boy, and, though she was a wild child and nearly impossible to keep in the infirmary, he felt for her. Ilari looked a mess when he was brought in. He looked far worse than he was, in fact. Emerald's concern was understandable. "His injuries were minor, but he lost a lot of blood. It's good you found him when he did, because he fell into shock from the blood loss. He's resting, now. You may go see him.
"First, however, I have a few questions." It was then that Doc Prof crossed his arms and that stern look came back. "Who is he, and what did you do?"
Emerald glanced up at Doc when he walked over to her, his scent alerting her of his presence first. Her eyes were filled with concern for the boy she was so angry at before he walked in the door, bleeding everywhere. She inwardly cursed at him for being such a lug headed idiot for getting into such a bad fight. He wasn't as strong as other mutants and all he could do was make himself glow like a flashlight. So why did he get into a fight? Surely he was caught by someone stealing their wallet and he had been taught manners by them, by politely shoving him through a window or something. At least, that’s what Emerald would do if anyone would try to steal her wallet and they just happened to be near a window. She was glad he was stable though at least that meat that he was alright. Of course, then there was the matter of which he was and what she...wait what she did?
"He’s a good friend of mine," Emerald began before narrowing those blue eyes at doc in a glare. She loved the old guy but he sure could be a pain sometimes. "Also, I didn’t do anything to him! Not yet anyways, he’s got a lot of explaining to do."
Emerald stormed over to the curtained off area, planning on shaking his wounded, resting body awake and interrogate him for why he was so stupid, then as she pulled back the curtain, her resolve to potentially injure the boy again was broken. In his sleep he looked so peaceful and content, just with more wounds. God Damn him for being injured! God damn him for looking so serene and peaceful when he’s sleeping! And damn me for liking his sorry Ass. Emerald thought, throwing her hands up into the air in defeat.
Emerald dragged her chair over from the other side of the infirmary and situated it right by Ilari's bed. The wolf girl was having a rough day, she had already fought multiple gang members under the guise of Shred and they weren’t to gentle with their punching. Between that and her current emotional turmoil with things as they were lately, she was exhausted. Sitting in the chair next to his bed, Emerald saw an open hand lying limply at his side, for a moment she tried to talk herself out of it but her body worked in mysterious ways. She took the hand gently in hers, squeezing it delicately, while she really didn’t like to be touched by males at the moment, Initiating a touch registered as fine in her troubled mind. After around an hour of waiting for him to wake up, Emerald ended up falling asleep with his hand in her, laying her head down on the stretcher. While she knew it was a bad idea, she didn’t really care, Emerald allowed herself to let go over her inhibitions.

Considering the state that Ilari had arrived at the mansion, he looked pretty good. He was laying on his stomach on the infirmary bed, stripped to his waist and wrapped in bandages. His head was turned to one side, resting on his pillow, with his arm curled beneath it. Emerald had stolen a hand that was laying limply by his head. He looked, for all the world, like he was getting the first good sleep he'd gotten in a while.
Doc Prof decided to leave the two alone after deciding that he wasn't going to get more information out of Emerald that day. So, he lay in silence, breathing steadily in his drug-induced slumber.
He came to an hour or so after Emerald decided to take up watch by his side. His first thought was that he'd slept surprisingly well. As he lifted his head and looked to the wall in front of his face, his second thought was "where the hell am I?" There was a fleeting moment of panic before the memories of the day caught up to him. He was at the mansion. Maybe he was in Emerald's room?
That's when he noticed the weight on his hand. He turned his head, with some difficulty, and turned his gaze down to the wolf girl. Seeing the particular nature of the bed in which he was laying, as well as the familiar presence comforted him. The Mansion must have had an infirmary, and he was there. Emerald must have taken him to it.
"Hey," he murmured, shaking his hand a bit. "Kibbles and Bits. Wake up." She hated that nickname, but he used it with affection. He was in no pain, and there was no cloud of strangeness from whatever painkillers he was given.
The wolf seemed to be unwilling to release the thief's hand from where she lay her head. She then decided to wrap her arms around his, snuggling up against it in her sleep with a soft growl. She nuzzled his arm gently with a contented smile on her face, it was obvious the female was having some sort of dream. With another growl the female lightly bit down on his arm, not painfully so, but almost affectionately, like a love bite. Contently, her tail wagged as she nuzzled him again, completely content in her little world.Unfortunately, after a few minutes more, she began to stir, finally being roused by Ilari's words even though they were minutes ago. She had always been a bit of a heavy sleeper and now was no exception.
When she realized she was cuddling his arm the she-wolf released it immediately, a blush brightening up her face. Her tail wagged back and forth rapidly as her heart beat fast, clearly embaressed by the whole ordeal. Emerald glared playfully at Ilari, trying not to show how embaressed she was, though the blush gave him a big clue.
"Don't call me that glowstick," She told him, trying to sound irritated but it only came out half heartedly so. Her voice then showed concern in her next statement, despite the harshness she worded it with. "So what the hell happened to you? One Minute I'm thinking about you and your'e scawny ass, the next you are bleeding out all everywhere!"

"Aw, you were thinkin' about me, Kibbles?" he cooed, trying to avert the question for a bit as his brain caught up to the rest of him. He lifted his arm and stretched as well as he could before rolling onto his side in order to better face the she-wolf. "I was lookin' for you." His answer was a bit hesitant. He didn't want to talk about what had happened, just yet.
"I have to tell you, Em', I'm really sorry," he spoke, diving right in to what he came there for. "I should have... done something. I shouldn't have let you just walk out of my apartment." He thought for a moment. "I didn't think it would hurt you that bad. I didn't realize it did, until I met....I met Gawain. He said he was a friend of yours. He said you weren't doing too good. He gave me the address of this place, so I came here as soon as I could.
"I just feel... bad. I never wanted to hurt you," he cleared his throat, very tense, after that rather rushed apology. He started trying to look for a method of escape, some way to change the subject easily. Nothing really came to mind, so he waited for Emerald to get to verbally beating him. Or physically beating him. Really, he wouldn't be surprised if it were either one, or even both.
"Yes I was thinking about you, you pile of firefly vomit!" Emerald snapped at him, far too quickly. The wolf girl's blush grew at her outburst, inwardly beating herself for making such an idiotic comment. The guy was trying to tell her he was sorry and here she was throwing insults at him. "Ignore that, continue."
Emerald took this chance to listen to him, allowing him to speak his piece and apologize, something he should have done a hell of a lot earlier. Things had happened to Emerald since that day, big changes in her life, pain that was hard to erase. Sure, she was able to confide in Mirror, but she still would have liked someone else to be there for her and if Ilari was around and he could have been easier to confide in What he had did hurt, a lot, which Emerald felt she should have known better than to let it, but it did.
"You're still an asshole, I would've used this apology sooner you know? Maybe then I wouldn't have...never mind." Emerald shook her head, looking away for a minute. Her motivation for visiting home in the first place was because of how hurt she was by Ilari and how she just needed to get away for a while. It was supposed to be a time for her to clear her head and think, then...that happened . "I needed you sooner, and you weren't there and it sucked alright? I looked for you but I was never able to catch you. You know the places I go downtown, would've it killed you to make an attempt to find me?"
Emerald took a deep breathe trying to calm down, the idiot had caused her a hell of a lot of grief and she needed to calm down if she was going to get out her piece. However, perhaps it would be better if she addressed her friends condition first? "Look I, sorta forgive you alright? But do you think next time you decide to come apologize you can not do it bleeding everywhere? What the hell happened to you? Did you get mauled by our gates while trying to get in or what?" The question she asked was a legitimate one. Why in the world was Ilari so wounded when he came up to the mansion? Was something wrong? Did she have to hurt a few people for wounding, Ilari?

Firefly vomit. That was a new one.
He listened to Emerald rant at him, and it didn't do much for his mood to be berated for not apologizing soon enough. It wasn't enough that he busted his as to get there, even though it took him some time to do it? He wasn't exactly avoiding Emerald, they just never ran into each other between these two times. Something in his mind wriggled around with anger at the thought, but he pushed it back. There was no sense in causing problems.
Besides, Emerald looked like she needed quick problem resolution. Speaking of Emerald's looks, she was looking quite a bit larger, these days. More feral. He brushed it off as a faulty memory combined with the drugs he was no doubt on. Surely his perception was altered by painkillers. Why else would he be in an infirmary without feeling any pain?
"I got in a fight," was his simple reply. "Gawain and I did, in a sandwich shop. Some... some mutant haters, I guess. Four of them. I took two, and I got smashed into a mirror. I guess my back was cut up worse than I thought, 'cause I headed right here, and..." He trailed off, trying to think back to the last thing he remembered.
"Last I remember, I rang the doorbell." Ilari rested his head on the pillow, oddly blaze about forgetting so much. "I'm gonna guess I passed out at the door."
A fight? Ilari, got into a fight, again and this time he got himself nearly bleeding out on her doorstep. In her head, Emerald ran over the places that one could get sandwiches at in New York City, for she knew them all, finding the perfect sandwich was a hobby of hers after all. No matter what sandwich place she thought of they were all a considerable distance from the Mansion which meant with a wounded back, Ilari walked all the way to the mansion, just to apologize to her. Great, way to make me feel bad you ass. Emerald grumbled inwardly.
"So lemme get this straight, you got into a fight at a sandwich shop, get the ever loving crap beaten out of you and in that little glow fly brain of yours you think its a good idea to drag yourself all the way here to apologize?" Emerald looked at him with a dumbfounded look on her face, as if not believing what she was saying. The expression contorted however into that of anger.
"You idiot! What were you doing getting into a fight at a sandwich shop?!" She snarled at him, bearing her teeth. A wave of emotions washed through her as she she glared at the man before her, "Are you high? You could have hurt yo-the sandwich worse!" Emerald saved, taking a deep breath. "Then I would have to find those guys that hurt the sandwich and beaten them half to death for hurting the sandwich because the sandwich means a lot to me! And I would hate to see you get hurt!" Emerald didn't catch the last part until after she said it, and then a blush filled up her cheeks. Her tail wagged back and forth rapidly and her heart was beating fast again, she inwardly cursed the Lupin family curse she inherited from her father. Feeling as if the cat was out of the bag the female spoke to him softly, her tone far more caring than the one she usually used.. "I'm glad you are okay, I was worried."

"I didn't get the crap beaten out of me," Ilari defended. It was true! He didn't! He got one bad injury and a few bruises, but he layed his attackers out pretty soundly. He fell quiet, though, as Emerald started yelling about the sandwich. As she talked, a small smile spread over his face. How touching.
"The sandwich didn't get all that hurt," he soothed. "The sandwich kicked some ass, actually. It actually only took a few hits that it didn't know were as bad as they really were." He chuckled, enjoying Emerald's flustered look. It was fun to see such a normally collected woman act so jumpy and embarassed.
"The sandwich just wanted to make sure you were okay. And, thanks. I'm glad I'm okay, too." He released a soft laugh and rested his head on the pillow. He didn't feel much like any cats were out of any bags. They'd grown to be unlikely, but good friends. "I'm glad you're... okay... too... 'cept you look like hell. What, is it a full moon?" Despite the rather rude wording, Ilari's tone was quiet and concerned. It was a bad attempt to deflect his concern with humor.
While he said that he didnt get the crap beaten out of him, Emerald definatly could beg to differ. He had looked like hell when he had first walked up to the mansion and he had been bleeding everywhere so she could deffinatly say that he had the crap beaten out of him. It as good that he felt like he kicked ass though, at least that would be good for his self esteem.
The full moon comment was an unexpected one, the wolf girl letting out a low growl at him. She didnt really want to tell him what happened, for her own reasons. That and he would probably go into a coma if he found out, after all the crap he had been through today. With a light sigh and a hand running through her hair Emerald smiled a little coyly at Ilari, putting up the facade that everything was fine. Everything really wasn't fine but she didn't want him to know that, he didn't need to hear her trauma right now and she didn't want to relive it. "Just a full moon thing." Emerald told him, brushing it off as if it was nothing. Knowing that with those pain meds he was given he wouldn't notice the slight nervousness in her tone. "Hey, where the hell is Gawain if you were with him? Shouldn't he be back too?"

Ilari had gotten relaxed and content, and he was accepting of Emerald's answer about the full moon. He was all ready to settle back in for a nap when the question came, and Ilari felt his stomach drop. Oh... Gawain.
"The cops came," he answered quickly, knowing he'd need to get the beatings over with. "I didn't want to leave without him, but once the cops showed up, everybody just swarmed around." Ilari closed his eyes, a pained look on his face. He'd failed someone who was fighting along side him, fighting with him, helping him. "I tried to go back and help, but he told me to beat it. I had no choice, I just ran... ran here. I dunno what happened to him, but I have to guess... if he got away, he'd be here with me."
Ilari turned his face to the wall that the head of his bed was pressed against. He didn't want to see how angry Emerald was, over the situation. Ilari wasn't exactly happy with it, himself.
“You’re both idiots I swear to god, great now I got to break his ass out of jail.” Emerald told him, and though she sounded angry at first, her face broke into a smile and laughter escaped her lips. It was the type of laughter friends had when they just realized that their friend was the idiot who pulled the fire alarm on accident.
After a while her laughter subsided and she looked at Ilari with a surprisingly calm gaze. While she was irritated that Gawain got arrested and that Ilari couldn’t help him, she couldn’t exactly stay mad at them, besides they didn’t start it. She had gotten all her yelling out on Ilari, she would nag at Gawain later. “Look glowstick, don’t worry about it, Gawain gets in trouble all the time and believe me with his whole, teleporting through mirror thing, he can get out of it easy.Besides, I am not gonna yell at ya again. ” Emerald told the lightmancer reasurringly
