The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Amber was sure she probably shouldn't be at the Mansion given that she still wasn't officially a student, but she just couldn't' help herself. After seeing the place with Koga, she was enchanted by everything it had to offer. A place for mutant students to study and learn, not only about the things that kids and teenagers everywhere learned, but also about their powers. It was a magical and amazing concept and she simply couldn't wait to be formally enrolled.
Amber had waited until dusk to go out, taking the bus all the way from Sanctuary to the Mansion. She was rather proud of herself for that feet since the last time she had attempted to go out on her own she had gotten lost, panicked and ended up as a dinosaur fleeing from an angry mob in the middle of New York City. This time was different however. This time she knew exactly where she was going and how to get there. The only thing she didn't know was why, exactly she had come. And for that matter, if she would even be allowed to enter given that she wasn't a student yet.
Amber wrapped her veil more tightly around her face and walked up to the security gate, where she proceeded to stand indecisively. The veil wasn't really needed at night but it had come to be something of a security blanket of sorts. It made her feel safer in some completely irrational sort of way, preventing others from seeing her expression. Now if only she could somehow find a way to stop stuttering, she'd really feel better. Her usual robe she also wore, something that had taken on even more import lately. Restrictive clothing, such as shirts and pants, didn't tend to fair well if she accidentally shifted. Her robes, on the other hand, just sort of fell to the ground, more or less untouched. All she really had to figure out now was how to get footwear that wasn't at risk when shifting.
Amber walked over to the gate, poking her head up to the bars, trying to get a glimpse of what was going on inside the grounds. Oh, how she wanted to be there right now, learning and meeting other children her own age. It would make her the happiest girl in the world. Now that she finally had herself a family, the only thing that was missing in her life was the chance to learn.

Shana was walking home from her session latest with hunter, though how much longer she would stay at the mansion she did not know. She just did not seem to fit in, more so with kausmi no longer around. The main issue for her was the x-men them selfs it was hard to say they should not do what they did, someone had to control the rogue mutants like Aura who caused strife. However she opposed violence almost absolutely in any case, sometimes her beliefs made things very difficult.
It was dark and Shana had only somewhat reluctantly left Hunter's place. She liked the night time because accidents still happened but less people were around to see them. So when she tripped, close to the mansion gate a dead branch lifted up into the air and flew toward the gate a few feet above the ground. It hit a bar in the gate making quite a bit of noise. SHe saw someone thare and had to fight her urge to run away. Taking a few deep breaths she reminded herself running would solve nothing.
"Hello, i apologize my powers....are..they act on their own" she finnaly said obviously nervous as she got near the other girl. She could make out it was a she from this range anyway. "My name is Shana, i live here, how about you?" she asked as politely as she could though her voice had come out a bit deeper then she would have liked. She noticed the girl was dressed strangely, but many mutants seemed to enjoy odd fashions and her hair placed her among them even though it was oddly natural.
Amber jumped back as a large object suddenly flew, seemingly out of nowhere, in her direction. She let out a sound, suspiciously like an 'eep' when it clanged into the metal bars on the gate. As undignified as the sound was, however, at least it didn't suddenly trigger herself turning into a dinosaur. Apparently she needed actual fear rather than just mere startled shock for that.
"I-It's ok," Amber answered, realizing that the branch hadn't actually come out of nowhere, but had actually come as the result of someone. Someone who, apparently, also had a few kinks to work out of her powers. Even though Calley had told her that it was normal to take a while to learn to control one's powers, it was still a relief to find out first hand that she wasn't the only one.
"M-my p-powers act f-funny too sometimes." It was kind of comforting to be able to say that to someone who really understood what it was like to have powers that didn't always do what you wanted them to. Plus, her hair was blue and that somehow made it better too, even if she wasn't quite sure how.

"good to know im not the only one" she said aloud, though she looked embarrassed that she said it at all. Still she tried to put that at bay as she walked closer to the girl and to the gate. "I am a telekinetic, i can move thing's with my mind" she said and to describe she looked at the branch and brought it up to her eye level again before letting it fall softly to the ground again. She still lost control when started but was getting better about it.
"Can i ask your name?" she said with a smile then looked back at the gate. "Do you live here as well?" she asked knowing very well that people often move din and out without her even noticing. It wa salso in part because she had up untill the last week or so stuck herself in her own room and not really came out much at all. Whatever the reason the place never seemed to empty or fill up. brushing a long blue hair out of her face she said something into the gate and it began to open.
"Would you like to come inside with me? it's rather late" she said not thinking the girl should be on her own at this time of night. All kind's of people might be walking around at this hour and she did not wnat the girl to get hurt, even if she did not live at the mansion. SHe walked into the mansion grounds and waiived the girl in with her. "come on" she said happily.
"At least y-you d-don't accidentally b-blow stuff up," Amber suggested, trying to make the blue haired lady feel better. That's how Calley had tried to cheer her up when she had come to him for help with her own powers. In her case it had actually worked, at least a little. Her own powers coudln't really hurt others although she supposed someone who could move things with her mind could hurt others, but not as much as if she exploded things.
"My n-name's Amber," she replied. "And I d-don't l-live here b-but I'm h-hoping to s-start coming h-here soon. I d-don't know if I'm a-allowed inside." Although Koga had brought her inside when she wasn't yet a student, so surely it would be ok to go in with someone else who lived here too, right? She wouldn't stay long, maybe just long enough to see some things before going home. She had to make sure she got home before dawn anyway.
"What's y-your name?" Amber asked, following her inside. If she was a human she knew Aura would tell her not to trust the woman, but this was a mutant and a mutant at the Mansion, so surely there was no risk. Maybe she could even catch a glimpse of Koga while she was here, though chances are he had all ready snuck out for the night.

"That's true, being a walking bomb could be very dangerous" she said considering the mutation and just how many people one could hurt if one suddenly exploded around them. It sounded like it could be very bad if one's power emerged when their were many people around at the time. "Is that what you can do?" she asked curiously in a way hoping it was not. The last thing she wnated was to be guilty for having the mansion blown up.
"Of course your aloud in" she said with a smile. The mansion was a pretty open place as far as she knew, certainly if you were with other people who lived thare. She guessed maybe others however might not know this if they were from other places. Maybe the mansion needed to be more clear on their rules they had, but then their could be trouble with being to open she assumed.
"My name is shana" she said waving the girl inside again before moving deeper onto the mansion grounds. "It will be all right" she said trying to encourage the girl to come into the mansion with her. She figured they could have some fun with one another and maybe even learn from eachother about their powers and other things as well, she hoped anyway.
"Oh, I d-don't blow things up," Amber assured Shana quickly. "I c-can turn into d-dinosaurs." It was a fact that she was rather proud of even if she couldn't really control it very well yet. Because everyone knew that dinosaurs were just about the most awesome things ever. "B-but s-sometimes I change even when I d-don't want too." Usually when she was afraid or nervous.
Amber followed Shana into the Mansion, probably a little more eagerly than she really should have. She was pretty sure, though, that the invitation wasn't an open one, it was just if she was with someone who actually lived at The Mansion or had an otherwise legitimate reason to be there. Sadly her own reason of, a mutant school is awesome, didn't really seem like much of a legitimate reason.
Much like Amber's first visit to The Mansion, it was bustling with activity, even if it was night time, children, teenagers and books everywhere. Here and there were visible mutants, with strange coloured skin and hair or powers that they took no pains to hide. It had to be some kind of strange mutant paradise for certain. "D-do you live here?" she asked Shana, pretty sure the woman was too old to really be a student.

"I see, well it's good you don't blow up that must be hard, i think i can understand the issue though. I think everyone has trouble at first though. Heck i still have to make sure anything sharp is put away before i go to sleep, so when i wake up, theirs not knifes falling on me" she said, shivering slightly as she recalled the very scary instance where that had happened. "Im trying to say, is even some of us who have had our powers awhile have trouble" she said hoping her words sounding all right.
"Turning into dinosaurs must be interesting" she said, in truth she knew very little about them. They had little interest for her really. Still this girl likely loved them or at least studied them do to her power,s o she did not want to say anything that did not seem supportive.
"I do, though im not quite sure how long i am going to stay" she said having not said her intention's of moving to anyone else yet. Still Amber seemed like a good person to share the information with, after all she did not live here. "I came to get my power sunder control and....." she began realizeing the puase she knew she had to Finnish. "Other things as well" she said at last as she guided amber through the front door. As far as she knew the mansion would let any none killer through, despite the x-men being based here, it was actually pretty peaceful here.
Shana wasn't the first person to tell Amber that it wasn't unusual for a mutant to have problems with their powers at first. Calley had told her much the same thing, though at the time she half expected the animal shifter to be trying to make her feel better. She didn't really get that from Shana, though, who seemed, unlike Calley, to actually be sane. She still thought the other shifter was probably a little unstable.
"I love t-turning into d-dinosaurs!" Amber stated with enthusiasm. "Y-you can do so many th-things that p-people just can't and they c-come in so m-many shapes and sizes." It was a common misconception that most dinosaurs were slow, lumbering giants when, in fact, it was more accurate to say that most dinosaurs were human sized or smaller. Oh, the giant ones certainly did exist, they just weren't the only ones out there, not by a long shot.
"Is th-there anything I can do to help?" Amber asked, sensing the indecision in the older woman's voice. She didn't know if there was anything she could do, but she didn't like to see sadness in others. Of course, she had tried to help Calley too, but Calley had just shot her down stating there was nothing she could do.

"yes that is true" she said though honestly she knew quite little of dinosaurs, still she did know a littile bit. They were big, retiles and some ate meat and other ate plants and some flew. Heck she even saw jurassic park enough times to know they became birds. "It is good to l0ve your powers" she said with a bright smile to her new freind. She liked her powers as well, knew she could function without them, though deep in her heart she guessed she would miss them.
"No, i wish you could, but it is a path i must travel myself, you will have one that only you can travel some day as well" she said clsoeing her eyes for a moment. She really did wish amber could help it would have been great, but she knew the girl could not, only one man could. "I can do many thing's with my powers as well, i can eat and never touch the food until it is within my mouth" she said trying to get away from the subject.
Shana opened the door for AMber as she entered the place, it was on the quite side. It normally was at this hour however, so she waived amber inside. "The place is nice, good food" she said as she ran a hand through her hair. "My first sign of being a mutant was my hair turning blue" she said shaking her head a bit. "Why it turned blue, is still a complete mystery to me" she went on. it really was, this was somhow her natural color, maybe she should dye it, she had considered doing so many times and had tried, but the color was always off set but her natural color and thrown way off what it was suppose to be.
Amber hadn't really met anyone who disliked their powers, although she still hadn't met all that many mutants. Even Kaitlyn didn't really seem to dislike the fact that she could blow things up, only the fact that she couldn't really control it. It was a rather sad thought to consider the fact that there might be mutants out there who didn't like their powers. "Its important t-too embrace our p-powers and the fact that we're m-mutants." That's what Abyss had told her, maybe in not so many words, and it made sense.
As much as Amber wanted to be able to help Shana, she understood what the older woman said perfectly. Although in many ways she was niave and would be the first to admit as such, a personal path was something she had been traveling for almost as long as she could remember. She couldn't help but travel alone both due to her lack of family, until recently of course, and because her skin condition put barriers between herself and the rest of the world. "Some p-paths are best walked alone anyway," she agreed. It was a rare moment of support that she was able to offer.
Amber followed Shana inside, simply happy to be back at the Mansion after her first trip there with Koga. "M-my eyes turned black. I d-don't know why either." Apparently mutations weren't always predictable nor did they always make a whole lot of sense.
