Katrina frowned at Sam's dodgy answer to her question about how he knew she was there. She wasn't that reliable, she didn't think.
“No, really, how did you know? If I'm supposed to be learning how to evade notice, shouldn't I know where the holes in my invisibility cloak are?” If she was aware of them, she could patch them, if she wasn't, then anyone who had whatever sense Sam had would also be able to see right through her, and not in the way she intended them to do so.
>>>“Thought you knew what we were all about…”
Katrina shrugged, “I want to hear your definition. Everyone has a different way of explaining it and the more ways I hear it described, the more complete picture I'll have.”
His description was a good one, better than other she had heard that described the X-men as a group of trained fighters who attacked zealots and the like. Still, though, even his explanation had a contradiction in it.
“If the goal is to create peace, and we are to be good examples, then why do we have so much combat training? Isn't it impossible to be a good example of a peace keeper while fighting all the time?”
She listened, but she also watched. Down in the room the other students worked out their strategy. Katrina sort of wished she could help them out, but in this instance she wasn't part of the team that was supposed to be proving themselves. The teamwork they were being judged on didn't include help from someone who could see the path they should take. She didn't want to ruin their one shot at making the team by cheating.
Her observations of the room below made her think of another question, “If the walls and other things in the danger room are holograms, how are they solid?”
