The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Meld had never been called sweetcakes before and, until that point, had never thought anyone would have the balls to try. Most people simply wouldn't have gotten away with it and most people appeared to be aware of that fact. Roach, however, was different. Different in many ways. For example, Meld wasn't even certain he realized that what he was saying might be taken as offensive and, if he did, she wasn't certain he realized exactly what she was capable of. It was an odd and slightly disconcerting experience. He reacted to her differently than anyone else she had ever met and while she didn't take that as a negative, she wasn't quite sure how she should take it.
Meld blinked her ruby tail eye in response to the giant bug's blink, nodding her head thoughtfully. "I suppose that's probably correct." Something in the statement seemed a little bit off but she pointedly ignored it. The bug's enthusiasm as contagious and this little plan of theirs was sounding more and more fun every minute. "I'm no stranger to making headline news. If its headline news you want, you've come to the right mutant." She smirked darkly, not quite certain if he knew exactly what sort of headlines she had made in the past. Massacres mostly. And a few odd murders here and there, but it was the massacres she was most well known for.
"You block the front door and I'll head to the roof above the back door," Meld agreed. Now that they had reached their destination, she was all business. Once their mission was over there would be time for joking but until that time, she now had a goal in mind. That goal was to wait above the back door on the roof until whatever poor unfortunate soul happened to walk out that back door. At which point she would jump down, directly on top of him or her and deal with the individual in the most efficient way possible. Yes, she had most certainly done this sort of thing before.
On the way to their first destination, Roach got the urge to head but Meld's tail. He didn't because that might kill him, but it was a noteworthy thought. Mister Samson knew just how dangerous the woman close to him was, and frankly, he didn't see himself being her target demographic when it came to brutal slaughter. She seemed the type to aim for the man with the bible in one hand and a pistol in the other; Gregory had neither of these.
Though a gun would be fun... technically, he could hold four. Oh~ But learning to shoot properly would be such a bothersome task! Most people who sold guns were way too edible to be around for long anyways... you know, now that she mentioned it, he had heard about someone like her on the news before..."Not a stranger to the headlines, eh? I guess that's why you aren't covering up so much? Remember, little lady, the more dangerous you make yourself out to be, the less peace you'll ever witness in life. I hope you're ready for a nonstop roller coaster at the rate you are goin." Indeed, even through his business- minded facade he had to warn her... While it was alright to cause a little ruckus in order to achieve a goal, it was sometimes best to do it without stamping a confession on your forehead.
"So, miss moxy, you ready to apply some-a that good ol' elbow grease?" He said as he came around to the back door, and spied her getting to position. The gigantic roach popped up the collar of his coat, and pulled it shut, pressing his hat down low to shroud his form in the best way possible. He then knocked three times on the back door as had as he could before stepping back and waiting for it to open... In seconds, it did.
"Y~ello?" A greasy looking man in a wife beater poked his head out of the door, and looked at the somewhat shadowy figure. "You, uh... You need something?"
"Ah, yeah, I was just passing through, and I dunno if you noticed, pal, but you got a roach infestation right in your back yard... some exterminators you are..." He put on a Brooklyn-ite caricature, and stepped back as the man pushed into the alley way.
"What?! Son of a- Alright, where are the little bastards?" He looked about for a moment, saw nothing, and then turned back to Gregory, who lifted his head a little, showing his mandibles. "Right here." What was the cue- Roach was sure this poor schmuck was as good as dead; it was just a matter of seeing how good his companion was at her craft.
Thanks to Andrea and Jorge for my sigs! I WABBLE YOUUU! AV Roach~

"Trust me, I am well aware that my life will never be one of peace," Meld answered the giant bug man with just a hint of bitterness in her voice. It wasn't that she regretted the decisions she'd made, quite the contrary. She was utterly comfortable in the knowledge that every single death had either been done in self defense or it had been done to those whose deaths served the mutant cause better than life had and in some cases both of these were met. Sometimes, however, she wished it were possible to have some manner of peace in her life. As essential as her role was, there were times when she didn't want to have to make the decision of either intimidating everyone away that might want to make things difficult for her, or hiding from those who would interrupt her life. There was a price and a consequence for every decision made, always.
"I'm ready," Meld replied. Before Roach knocked on the door she climbed almost effortlessly up the side of the wall. There was a time when it would have been completely effortless but that was before she had replaced her metal hand with her mutant electric one. Still, her tail was remarkably dexterous and functioned as the extra limb that her hand was no longer able to be while climbing, her blades digging into the wall in order to help propel her to the top. Once there, she crouched at the side of the roof, tail pointed down in order to maintain her view of what was going on below her. Timing was everything.
Meld could never be blamed for a lack of patience. She was good at waiting, especially knowing that there would be a sweet payoff at the end, be it money or other goodies. This was to be no exception, although she didn't have to wait very long in this instance. The moment the door opened, she poised in preparation for the leap. It was another minute while she awaited the perfect opportunity. It was essential that she dispatch of the man quickly and silently and thus it was essential that she be patient enough to ensure that her leap would be instantly lethal.
Finally the man's body turned in just the right way and in that moment Meld jumped from the roof to the ground, her metal taloned feet taking the majority of the impact. Her hands wrapped around her victim's neck and body, one bladed and metal the other nearly human even with its glowing blue veins. With a snap she twisted his head, breaking his neck and ending his life in that instant. As soon as she was given the word she'd pierce his flesh with one of her many blades and their message could be painted. "I trust that was sufficient?" Meld asked Roach, with a smile and a pleased raising of her eyebrow.
