The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Elli saw the mob dispersed, many of them being cuffed and put into the vans. It seemed that while about half of the mob had been focused on Elli and the mutants, the rest had torn up Central Park pretty bad in their anger. That type of destruction was very much against the law, and so most of the mob would spend a time in jail. It made Elli feel good, that she brought justice to these people and protected those who could not protect themselves.
Then Elli saw the teenage boy floating over towards her with the child, and also spied both Hunter and the mutant boy being lead by SWAT members to the command tent. It would, Elli thought, probably be best if she could give her report and get out. The vibe of Hunter sorta felt weird to her, and she had no intent to find out why. Oh, yes, she would offer her thanks and do what was necessary, but no more. Why, after the excitement of the past few minutes, all Elli really wanted to do was eat about a gallon of ice cream and then sleep for a week.
When all were assembled before the Captain, she took one look at them and sighed. Elli understood why. None of them were in any shape to do anything, but she had to get the reports filed. "Okay y'all. Let's do this short and sweet, and then we can all go home and have a drink, a'kay?"
Elli nodded in agreement, though she would avoid the drink. Her experience with alcohol had not been pleasant... Well, except for meeting Cafas... She really should call him...
All that mattered to Juka was the safety of the little girl in his possession. Well, that and despite the violent and inexcusable actions of the crowd, he really didn't want any of them to die because of overzealous policing. He had heard the stories and seen the newscasts just like everyone else had, he knew it sometimes happened. So long as tear gas remained the worst of it, however, he was all right with the situation. More than all right, truth be told, since they had pretty much saved his life and the life of the little girl.
Despite knowing that he couldn't have done any other thing, Juka felt guilty for leaving Hunter behind. He kept telling himself that the vampire could take care of himself and that a little teargas wouldn't hurt him too much. He was an ageless nearly immortal vampire, wasn't he? Surely that meant he'd survive a little gassing. Even if it did make sense, however, that didn't make it any easier to deal with the guilt.
As soon as Juka had deposited the child safely beside the female officer he had spotted earlier with Hunter, he went back into the former mob, rather pleased to find it to be far less mob-like since the inclusion of the tear gas. He spotted a man with a gas mask assisting Hunter to a nearby area more or less bereft of the horrible gas and, even though the vampire seemed to be doing all right, he still couldn't help but hover nearby, just in case he was needed. "Do you need a hand?" He couldn't' just leave a friend to suffer when it would be just as easy to bubble him now that the child had all ready been brought to safety.
The officer that came across Hunter sitting there almost meditating in the cloud of teargas was more than a little surprised. He didn’t have a clue what to do with him. Hunter however heard him as he approached and so asked, “Excuse me officer but would you mind escorting me out of the teargas cloud. I’d rather not open my eyes. I believe that a female police officer with blonde hair was first on the scene here. If you could take me to her I would be most appreciative.”
And so the officer led Hunter out of the gas cloud. Once free he opened his eyes and pulled his robes down. Catching sight of Juka and the two young mutants safe he offered all three a smile. “That’s not the first time I’ve been exposed to teargas,” he told Juka, “Though I hope it will be the last.”
Turning to the commanding officer who had a charming southern accent he said, “I presume you would like my statement? I was jogging through the park when I came across the crowd of protesters getting more violent. My young friend Juka here was trying to save the little girl in the centre when I spotted the boy at the edge drawing attention. I intervened in his defence using incapacitating techniques that would not cause permanent harm. I was then joined by the officer here and we were assaulted by several members of the crowd. We defended ourselves. Seeing Juka in danger of being overwhelmed I asked the officer to take the boy to safety while I went to help him and the little girl. Making my way through the crowd still using incapacitating techniques that would not cause permanent harm I made enough space to Juka to lift the girl to safety. I believe that is when you arrived and deployed teargas, for which I am very grateful as I fear I may have had to use more damaging techniques in self-defence if left alone in the midst of the crowd much longer.”
Elli nodded to Hunter and the teenage kid, who's name was apparently Juka, as they were escorted to the command center. Thankfully, the kids were also with them, and unscathed. Oh sure, they were both a little shell-shocked, and ruffled slightly, but all in all there were no big injuries. Elli just hoped the events hadn't traumatized them too much: mental disorders in children were all too common in crazy situations like that.
Before Elli could even say a word, and even before the Captain could drop a command in her charming drawl, Hunter began on a lengthy account of what had happened, from his point of view. After waiting bemusedly until he finished, the Captain wryly commented "Yes, sir. Thank you for your co-operation. You might have to stick around a bit, clear up the red tape and all. Officer Fletcher, what is your take on it?"
Elli shrugged and said. "I concur with Hunter, with only a single addition. Before all of the events he mentioned, I was on my way here for the disturbance call that came out. It was from a pay phone, not quite sure who made the call. Could've been anyone."
The Captain nodded. "All right, Officer, you're free to go. You can finish up the official forms and such tomorrow at the station. I understand that you're technically still on the clock right now, but you should head home and get some rest. You done good today, kid."
As Elli turned to leave, she thanked Hunter and drew a small anonymous scrap of paper and pen from her pocket. She scribbled her number on it, and then handed the paper to Juka. "Hey listen, kid. You ever get into any trouble, give me a holler. I'll see what I can do." With that, Elli went home.
She had a date with some rocky road icecream.
