The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Where would anyone be without Twyla?" Juka asked with a momentary grin. "Don't we all need a little common sense in our lives sometimes? Well, if you ask Jewelly I need more than a little common sense, but you're probably doing better than me in that department." It was always good to be able to make fun of yourself, after all.
Returning to the topic of Aura, Juka once again sobered. He honestly wasn't sure that he would ever be able to understand the girl and if he couldn't understand the girl he couldn't help her. A momentary pause as he realized that, somewhere along the lines he had actually decided that he wanted to help her? Where had that come from and what kind of horror story was he getting himself into?
"I don't think she can hide what's wrong with her from the people she lives with, so I'd say at least someone at Sanctuary knows a lot about her. Plus, there are others there that like to kill also." Like Abyss for example but he didn't seem as crazy as Aura was. "We know she likes mutants but has some sort of vendetta against humans. Maybe we need to show her that humans aren't all bad in order to help fix her?" Oh, gods help him that he even wanted to try.
>>"I don't think she can hide what's wrong with her from the people she lives with, so I'd say at least someone at Sanctuary knows a lot about her. Plus, there are others there that like to kill also."
"Great." Gawain frowned. It was not very reassuring to hear that there was an intitution full of mutants who actually liked Aura the way she was. He tried to come up with a thought that would creep him out more than this one, but he failed. "Birds of a feather, huh."
>>"We know she likes mutants but has some sort of vendetta against humans. Maybe we need to show her that humans aren't all bad in order to help fix her?"
"Do you think she can be fixed?" Gawain arched an eyebrow "I think she's beyond that. And even if she wasn't, how do you propose we do it? I mean, show her not all humans are evil. I doubt there would be many humanst willing to take part in that..." he sighed "But ya're right, we can't just let her run around like this. I wish we could do somethin' too."
"If you think Aura is scary, you should meet the big red guy Abyss," Juka stated with a shudder. The ease in which he could crush human skulls was as frightening as the casualness in which he did it. Of course, his equally large red brother Venus was one of his favourite people, so it just went to show that you couldn't always judge by the company one kept.
"I don't know if Aura can be fixed," Juka said, sighing. "But I think that maybe we have to try." Sometimes he hated the fact that he was a self appointed super hero and his guilt at just leaving the situation as it was would eat at him if he didn't do anything. Because he had a horrible feeling that if he tried to do something, someone would end up seriously injured and, knowing his luck, that someone would probably be him.
"As for how to help her, I don't have any idea. Are you...volunteering to help me with the helping of Aura?" Juka wasn't quite sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. On the positive side, he could use all the help he could get. On the negative side, if something bad happened he wouldn't the the only one in harm's way and he certainly didn't want to be responsible for anyone else getting hurt. He might be able to survive a fair bit of damage thanks to his bubble, but he didn't think Gawain would be quite as lucky.
Judging by his hesitation, Gawain appeared to be just as confused as Juka was. And judging by his eventual answer, he was just as crazy. Because the two of them had to be absolutely positively nuts to even contemplate helping a psychotic mutant killer who wasn't even socialized enough to understand the basic concept of currency.
"Are we completely insane to be even considering this?" Juka had to ask just to be certain. Because he was certain that he knew what he thought about the whole situation. But if he thought he was crazy maybe that meant that he actually was and maybe if he actually was that meant this thoughts on the matter might be compromised. Could someone who was crazy know that they were crazy? He was starting to make his own head hurt.
"So, if we are doing this, where do we even start?" Juka's mind, ever a little random, suddenly wondered if she still had the parrot he had helped her buy.
>>"Are we completely insane to be even considering this?"
"Yes."
>>"So, if we are doing this, where do we even start?"
"Well, we gotta find her." Gawain sighed "And then get her interested in somethin' that doesn' involve killing people." pause "Basically, we'd need to teach her bein' human all over again. And do it without her noticing. That's all there is to it, really."
Feeling insane yet?
"Or, y'know, we could start by finding out more about her. That wouldn't hurt either."
Another pause.
"And I kinda promised her I'd teach her to dance."
So, Gawain agreed with his whole insane observation. Somehow that didn't comfort him one little bit. It was official: They were going to get themselves killed.
"I know where to find her," Juka supplied helpfully and with a far more cheerful tone of voice than he was really feeling right at the moment. Not being able to find her would have been a lovely reason to abandon their potentially suicidal plan. "Or at least I know where she lives. Abyss showed me the place, called Sanctuary. Lots of mutants live there, kind of like the Mansion only its like a homeless shelter for mutants rather than a school." And it housed a lot of scary mutants that probably wouldn't be very fun to have to deal with if it came down to it.
"Finding out more about her sounds like a great idea," Juka agreed. Even if his motivations in agreeing were more along the lines of wanting to put off actually trying to help her in person for as long as possible rather than actually figuring that would be in some way beneficial. Because, you know, the whole potentially dying thing.
A blink followed the statement of promised dance lessons. "...I guess that would be a good place to start then."
"All right, then." Gawain nodded, standing up and heading towards the door "I'll try to find out more about her. I've got a couple of people I can ask."
There seemed to be a silent agreement between the two of them: even though they both wanted to help... or, at least, fix Aura, neither of them felt tlike they had to do it right away. there were plans to be made, details to be figured out... and time to be enjoyed. Alive.
"I'll get back to you when I find somethin' useful. In the meantime, let's keep thinkin'."
He stopped at the door, looking back at Juka, slightly pink in the cheeks.
"One more thing... let's not tell about what we're planning to others. Some might wanna stop us. Or kill us. Or tag along."
He was not sure which one would be worse.
"Thanks, Juka." he smiled "Good to know I'm not alone with bein' nuts."
"I'll do some investigating too," Juka agreed nodding at Gawain as he prepared to leave. His first thought was that he could float over to Sanctuary, wait for her to leave, and spy on her from the sky but that was quickly scrapped due to the fact that if she tried to kill someone else he would have to try and rescue them and then she might try to kill him again and he didn't really want another near death experience. Oh well, he'd think of something.
"Not telling anyone else seems like the perfect idea to me," Juka agreed with a wink. Jewel, if she found out, would probably kill him and Shana would worry her pretty little heart sick, she was sure. Neither of those things sounded good.
"We will be potentially suicidally nuts together than. I'll let you know if I find anything out." Juka waved at Gawain as he exited the room.
