The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Glad that no one was hurt Hunter let the woman introduce themselves to one another. Andrea with the fifth mutant to come in today. Fortunatly Hunter had experience in training mutants from back when he lead the Kabal.
While he no longer had the ability to absorb powers and help that way he was still very knowledgeable on mutant powers and one of the more qualified people to help teach mutants how to control their powers. Although he would have to take greater care now that he no longer healed as fast as he used to.
>>"I have met another with a power like yours before... Not to long ago actually."
Surprise played out naturally on the Adapted's face. "You have?" She said. More urgently, with the followup. "Where?"
If this woman had met another Adapted, she'd want to know about it. For a moment, the scenario escaped her. Then, she recovered, and played it off as part of the character. "I want to meet someone like that..." Her voice dropped. "Maybe, they know how to control their mutation a bit better than me..."
The woman apologized, and held out a hand.
>>"I am Andrea.."
Lenna smiled weakly, meeting the handshake. "Molly." She paused, then continued apprehensively. "I was just going, but after this... I feel like I should stick around a bit longer, and explain my power... and maybe you could tell me more about this 'person like me'?" Lenna asked uncertainly.
The Gorgon blinked, "Um... it was around where I live... the school for Mutants." The mansions full name was always a mouthful for her. "I do not think you would want to meet him however. A friend and I found him robbing a house..." She paused briefly, bringing a finger to her lips, " and I would not say he had control of his power... not at all, really." Her eyes dropped to her arm again, where pale flesh could still be spotted, and frowned.
"In his presence I reverted completely. You only seem to change my outward appearance. I would assume that means you have more control than he." The faint smile she shot Molly's way showed her complete lack of understanding when it came to the subject... but, she seemed to be interested, and Andrea didn't want to disappoint. "Other than what his power was, I didn't really get to know him... It was...um.. rather surprising to say the least, too see myself with this color of skin..." She raised her arm as an example, and grinned nervously.
It was still rather hard to refer to a mutation as a gift- though it did get a little easier every time she did so... Her outlook on her own powers was bleak and bordered on hate- or at least as close to hate as she could get. "It is a pleasure to meet you though, Molly." She stated softly, before turning her head to glance into the room. "And you must be the instructor?" She queried, raising her eyebrows as she tilted her head.
“Well now that we’re all introduced why don’t we head into the meditation room rather than stand out in the hall,” Hunter suggested as he ushered them inside, “A pleasure to meet you Andrea, I’m Hunter.”
Truthfully he was intrigued by Andrea’s tale of another mutant with the power to disrupt or even completely deactivate other mutants’ powers. It wasn’t too much of an issue for him as he was repressing his powers anyway, but it could mean a problem for mutants who relied on their powers extensively. His old employee Shogun would just be blind near a mutant like that. Still Molly wanted help controlling her power and Hunter would do his best.
>> "Um... it was around where I live... the school for Mutants." "I do not think you would want to meet him however. A friend and I found him robbing a house..."
Robbing a house... well, yeah. One couldn't assume all Adapteds were on the straight and narrow like her. Heh. Lenna listened to Andrea's account with a look of innocent interest. This really was interesting. It was good to hear there were more of her popping up. And near the mansion, too. She'd have to look into that some time... or at least, tell Slate.
And it seemed this one, too, had a stronger aura than her. Lenna donned a surprised look when the girl told her she thought Lenna had more control than the one she'd met. Lenna bit her lip.
"Hmm..." She trailed. "That'd be nice... if only I could make it go away." Her eyes dropped. "Weakening other mutants... sometimes, it's hard on them. I can't go near some people without affecting their lives..."
Angst, drama, Adapteds. She kept up the act for a moment, then moved on with a hint of embarassment for speaking too much.
>> "It is a pleasure to meet you though, Molly."
"Likewise," She looked up.
Mr. Antonescu suggested they enter the meditation room, and Lenna agreed. She took a few steps back, and made room for Andrea to enter. "What is your power, Miss Andrea? If I may ask...?"
She shuffled into the room slowly, careful not to run anyone else over in the process, and stopped a few steps inside the room to blink at herself in a nearby reflection. She could still remember the color her eyes had been when she had bumped into the other mutant... blue, like her mothers. Molly's question brought her attention away from herself, and back to the situation at hand. "My-..?" Pausing, she had to ponder the question for a moment before answering.
She had spilled the beans to strangers about her powers in the past... and was still rather surprised about the reaction she had gotten the majority of the time. Molly didn't seem to be the type however, to side with the others. She seemed to have her own problems with her powers. A small, timid smile curved her lips at the corners and she turned to face the woman.
"My own powers are.... difficult to explain sometimes. Have you ever heard of a Gorgon Molly?" She was tempted to explain further, before an answer came her way, but chose to wait instead. She didn't want to get ahead of herself..
Hunter was simply listened as the two women discussed their abilities. Andrea asked an interesting question when she mentioned Gorgons. Hunter had been intrigued by Greek mythology in the mid eighteen hundreds and read up on it extensively.
A gorgon was any of the three snake haired sisters who could turn people to stone with a glance. The most famous was Medusa, the only one who was mortal, who was slain by Perseus. The others were Stheno and Euryale. Because of their terrible gaze they were often used as symbols of protection meant to ward off evil spirits. One of the less well known traits of the Gorgons was that blood from their right side could supposedly resurrect the dead while blood from the left was lethal poison.
Most likely Andrea’s powers had something to do with doing something unpleasant by looking at people or turning things to stone, possibly the two combined. If she knew more about the mythology then it might have something to do with powers of her blood but he doubted that. He also hoped that wasn’t true because if she was coming here to learn control he was the wrong person to talk to.
Did she know anything about gorgons... no. "I haven't heard about them," Lenna replied. Her education had been in practical topics, such as reading, writing, foreign languages, and self defense. Anything beyond the basic realms of her training, she'd had to discover herself. If Andrea had asked about classic American movies, or brought up philosophy, she'd have been able to contribute to the discussion. Cowboys and super heroes, sure... but fairytales...
Of fairytales, she had no inkling.
"What's a gorgon?"
She didn't feel dumb for not knowing. It just hadn't been in the cards.
With a sheepish grin, Andrea scratched at the back of her head. Of course.... not many she had asked that question often did. Now.. how to best explain what a gorgon was. She lacked the wings and metal claws... nor was she as horribly ugly as the true gorgon's had been. Or...well, at least she didn't think she was...
"Gorgons were creatures who could turn people to stone with a glance..." Her eyes rolled to the ceiling, and she tapped her finger against her lips. "While I was lucky enough not to be born with the appearance of once... I did develop mutations that go with the myth hand in hand." She glanced back to her, before digging a cotton kerchief she had tucked into her pocket out. Her teeth clamped down onto a finger of her gloved free hand, and she tugged it off. Then, wrapping her fingers around the cloth, she balled it into her bare fist and waited for a moment, before unfolding her fingers to show Molly the after affect her touch had on the cloth.
"See?" Tugging her glove back on, she tucked the ball of rock hard cloth into her pocket and pushed her sunglasses further up onto the bridge of her nose. "My eyes also have an effect on people, but I cannot show how it works. Too many-" She paused, sending a nervous glance around, "..too many reflective surfaces in here..." The Greek had yet to test her eyes on a hand full of mirrors, let alone a room full of them... She honestly didn't want to know how that would work out...
Andrea certainly had an interesting mutation. His guesses had been largely accurate and fortunately she couldn’t turn people to stone with a glance. That was a power that would be difficult to control at the best of times. He could understand her trepidation with mirrors. Before he had the master of the temple in Tibet change his psychic powers he’d often used mirrors to make eye contact with people to influence their minds. It’s how he’d managed to convince a few people that he had no reflection and start that aspect of the myth.
“Don’t worry Andrea we do have rooms here without glass walls and all the reflective surfaces,” he reassured her with a smile, “So what brings you here to Spiritual Balance? Molly here is looking to learn some meditation techniques and work on controlling her abilities. I have a few others who have arranged private sessions to deal with personal issues. What can I do for you?”
Andrea didn't just describe, she demonstrated. It seemed that her aura didn't affect Andrea's touch-based abilities as severely as it affected her appearance. That was noteworthy. If she ever came upon a mutant with a strong mutation, she'd have to be certain not to rely on that aura of hers. She wouldn't give them any quarters, and she wouldn't go easy.
At least, until her aura grew strong enough to negate everything. When that day came... hrm. She probably wouldn't be a very good spy for the Order anymore. She hoped it was a long time in the future.
Lenna nodded at Andrea's demonstration. "Impressive." Rock-hard cloth. Scary.
As for her other power... it was apparently, sight-based. Lenna wondered if she would have weakened that one more than the other.
She swung her attention back to Mr. Antonescu. He wasn't dismissing her yet. She looked to Andrea for the answer. She might stick around longer, if they'd have her. This was interesting, and the longer she spent... hmm.
She paused, after Hunter's question. She still didn't fully know the answer as of yet. Quite a dilemma, really. Who came seeking answers to questions, when yo didn't even know what those questions were? Andrea shifted uncomfortably, clasping her hands behind her back, and dropped her gaze to the floor. "I-... I guess I do not really know what brought me here..."
She glanced to Molly. He had said she was here to meditate and work on her abilities... Andrea doubted it would be a safe place to work on her own troublesome powers, so she was quite willing to leave that little problem to be worked on at home. Meditating however... that was something she could use help with... right? Meditation, as far as she knew, was good for calming the nerves and relaxing ones self. Perhaps it would help with her headaches...
"I suppose anything really. I'm..." quite a mess. "... hopeless when it comes to most things..." Her eyes were drawn back to Molly for a moment. Admitting weaknesses to strangers was... an odd feeling. She had already admitted too much to Saphirus... probably something she would come to regret later... but the man had a way of weaseling things out of her.
"Well, maybe not most things just..." She thought back to all of the times others had been forced to step in and protect her. Too many times to count on both hands it seemed... The Greek frowned slightly, and sighed. "I guess I am rather hopeless, actually..." She muttered,
Hunter wasn’t surprised by Andrea’s defeatist attitude. He knew that many mutants who had difficult powers found it hard to do a lot of things and lost their self confidence because of that. He was already going to work with Shana on her self confidence issues and he could so the same for Andrea.
Molly he wasn’t so sure about. She wanted to learn meditation techniques and work on controlling her power. Or at least so she said. He still had a niggling feeling in the back of his mind that there was something more to her. However he didn’t really have anything to base that on and so would give her the benefit of the doubt and teach her.
“That’s quite alright Andrea,” he said with a reassuring smile, “not everyone who comes here knows what they’re looking for. At times I’ll see it before they do. I believe I can help you. Would you be free to come back for a session Wednesday afternoon around three?”
Turning his attention to Molly he said, “And I think you’d benefit more from one on one sessions to work on your ability rather than the group meditation sessions, though you are still welcome to come along to those if you like. Would Wednesday at one o click be alright with you?”
Mr. Antonescu was redirecting them, now, to scheduled appointments for practice. Wednesday at three for Andrea, and Wednesday at one, for Molly. It looked like she wouldn't get much more out of being here today. Hunter was giving her the polite dismissal. He was busy. She'd come back later. Lenna nodded.
"Alright. That's fine." She aimed a glance towards the door, and took a step. "I was leaving, wasn't I? Before I got distracted. Heh. Well, it was nice meeting you, Andrea." A nod to her. "And nice meeting you, Mr. Antonescu. I'll see you Wednesday. Thanks."
With that, Lenna walked out the door, leaving Andrea to talk with the immortal vampire. Today hadn't been conclusive. She'd have to come back Wednesday to learn more.
It was nice, to hear a little reassurance. It have her a little hope that maybe seeking out help from him would bear some fruit after all. Maybe she would even find the courage to rely on herself a little more, rather than everyone else...
He mentioned a new appointment, Wednesday at three...? Andrea blinked, an smiled. She could do that. She didn't work most of the week, so she had plenty of free time on her hands. She turned to Molly as she made to leave, waving slightly.
"It was nice too meet you as well, Good bye Molly." She watched the woman depart for a few moments, before turning back to face the other in the room with her. "So, Wednesday at three then..." Fishing a pad an pen from out of her purse, she jotted the note down.
"I assume I will be meeting you here again, Mr. Antonescu?"
